BRICS: India Could Back Out From Launching the BRICS Currency

Maurice Strong (shown), the highly influential voice and force behind the global environmental agenda, passed away on November 27, just three days before the start of one of his ideological children: the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris. That summit is of course a major milestone in the UN’s long road to building a global green regime that can be traced back to the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro that Strong headed. And it can be traced back even further to the first UN environmental conference in 1972 in Stockholm that was also headed by Strong.
Born in 1929, Strong was a child of the Great Depression, which, he said, turned him into “a socialist in ideology, a capitalist in methodology.” Following World War II he clerked at the United Nations and befriended David Rockefeller, who helped his career both at the UN and in the Canadian oil industry. In 1970, following his rise to the presidency of the Power Corporation of Canada, he returned to New York to become the secretary general of the UN’s Conference on the Human Environment and then the first executive director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). In 1971 he commissioned a report on the state of the planet, Only One Earth, which prepared the way for him to head up the Stockholm Conference the following year.
Twenty years later he led the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), more commonly known as the Earth Summit, in Rio de Janeiro. He considered the Earth Summit a failure in that the conferees agreed to fund less than five percent of the $125 billion he wanted to begin with to solve the “problem” of global warming. But it began the Agenda 21 program and laid the groundwork for the Kyoto Protocol, which was adopted five years later by 192 countries. That placed an obligation on the signees to begin to reduce greenhouse gases based on the controversial idea that they are responsible for the alleged warming of the earth.
In his activist life, Strong co-chaired the Earth Charter Commission, whose charter called for “global interdependence” to solve the global warming problem. The idea emanated from Strong and Mikhail Gorbachev, the former Soviet Union’s general secretary of the Communist Party, who at the time were both members of the Club of Rome. Founded in 1968, the Club of Rome burst into popular consciousness with its 1972 report, The Limits to Growth, a neo-Malthusian tract that used computer models to posit that exponential population growth would soon outstrip finite natural resources, leading to calamitous global consequences. Along with Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring (1962) and Paul Ehrlich’s The Population Bomb (1968), The Limits to Growth can be counted as one of the seminal doom-and-gloom reports that helped launch the militant environmental movement. In its 1991 report, The First Global Revolution, the Club further revealed its disturbing world view:

Radical greens believe that all of man’s activities on Earth are harmful (and therefore not sustainable). They believe that man is a cancer on the Earth. Their goal is to slowly cut back and finally end all development and reduce human habitat to specific areas while the rest of the world is turned into wilderness.

In his announcement…India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said:
‘The idea of dropping the rupee is loopy.’
I personally don’t understand why a multi-national consortium such as “BRICS” needs “its own currency.”
In like manner, I never really understood the justification for “the Euro.” Which, in my judgment, has not been generally successful and is not likely to survive.
Nations are fully entitled to create special trade alliances among themselves, but, especially in “this modern digital age,” I find little need for “special currencies.” And, frankly, plenty of compelling arguments against the idea.
I think one of the primary reasons for a standard trade currency is to establish commodity pricing in one currency, let’s say the yuan. But it could be any:currency. It stabilizes pricing to avoid endless currency conversions if multiple currencies are involved in the pricing of goods in the international market. If oil is priced in one currency, gas priced in one currency, wheat, aluminum, cobalt, etc. it facilitates pricing for trade purposes. You always know what the price of oil is in any given day, otherwise you have to continuously do currency conversions if multiple currencies are used for pricing.
Aside from the notion that pricing in yuan makes China stronger, it does make sense perhaps to use the yuan. Every country buys a ton of products from China, so they need yuan to buy from China. If China buys products from countries B, C and D, those same countries get yuan back in return when they sell to China, and will spend that yuan later when they buy from China.
No one wants a surplus of rupees because, although India sells some stuff, countries don’t buy enough from India to collect rupees if that were used as the standard trade currency. From a trade viewpoint, it probably makes sense to use the currency of the nation that is producing the most goods and selling it around the world because everyone will use that currency the most.

The battlefield conditions in Ukraine are currently “not ideal” for the employment of F-16 fighter jets, said Lieutenant General Douglas Sims, the director of operations of the Joint Staff, on July 13.
“The conditions right now for the employment of the F-16s are probably not – they’re probably not ideal,” the general said at a press briefing.
“I mean, the Russians still possess some air defense capability. They have air capability. And the number of F-16s that would be provided may not be perfect for what’s going on right now,” he clarified.
Lockheed-Martin, which still builds and sells the F-16 to various countries, is obviously not happy that the markets will soon learn that the F-16 have no fu**ing chance against modern Russian fighter planes and air-defenses.
Their coming destruction will scream “Buy Russian!” to the world and several countries will probably switch their provider and do so.

There are a lot of issues they have to sort out if they are going to use F-16s. These aircraft need pristine runways so dirt and rocks don’t get sucked up in the back of the plane during takeoff which can disrupt the flight. The Russians will be bombing runways in Ukraine too prevent these planes from taking off, so Ukraine hosting F-16 flights is probably out of the question.
So then the question is, is Poland going to agree to host the F-16s? What’s the flight distance from eastern Poland to western Ukraine? Is mid-flight refueling required? Where will the maintenance and support crews come from and where will they be located? Will the host country then become a target for Russia?
Lots of complicated stuff to sort out, not least of which who is going to fly these? Ukraine is quickly running out of men and training takes too long. Whoever flies these likely won’t be returning to their home base and that is no joke.
When I was in school 40 years ago in the DC area, there was a story on the news of a child who would have gotten his clothing stuck in an escalator and killed. And there was an interview on the news with his mother, a member of the indigenous population (some of you might remember that term from DC morning radio) of Washington DC. And it struck me in the interview how she had already made the calculation in her head that the loss of one of her numerous children was more than worth the monetary gain she was about to make. To this day it ranks as the coldest interview I ever saw on TV, she wanted to talk about where her money was. Looking back at her child’s life was just wasting time. When I look at the child trafficking stories making news around now, I don’t think most Americans understand absolutely desperate poverty. And the sacrifices people in third world countries like DC are willing to make. And our country has turned into the market for that depravity

Breaking News. Russia joins Ukraine in taking ‘baby step’ advances against each other.
Russia is deliberate in the baby advances. Firstly, it keeps their supply lines short, and if Ukraine wants to advance against them, they are perfectly fine with that because it satisfies 2 of Putin’s stated goals at the beginning of the SMO which is to de-militarize Ukraine and de-natzify Ukraine. Taking land right now is a lower priority. The Russians are running a different campaign that what we in the US are accustomed to seeing which is bombing the crap out of cities from the air. Their objective right now is “come to daddy” so they can destroy them.
Russia will definitely take more land at some point, but it makes sense to wait until the de-militarization is nearly completed so that that effort is less bloody for them. Russia still has 3 oblasts to liberate completely as this was enacted into Russian law and those lands are officially part of the RF now. Odessa will also be eventually taken to secure the Black Sea coastline as well as securing Transnistria, both areas being predominantly Russian.
The longer the distance the western missiles strike will require Russia to continue to take more land so those long range missiles don’t strike into the new RF oblasts that were once Ukraine. Sergei Lavrov has mentioned this multiple times.

each and every one of us should be preparing to or already practicing jury nullification, which would have a similar effect. it is our right.
I was on a jury two years ago and the defendant, accused of residential burglary, was clearly guilty, but one of the jurors didn’t like the police and thought they should have done things differently, so he was prepared to throw the whole case and let a career criminal back out! I understand that there are situations where jury nullification is a good thing, but those cases are few and far between and we need to be really careful, in my humble opinion, before we allow our personal opinions or feelings to be more important than the rule of law!

The U.S. Constitution has no provisions assigning responsibility for student loans to the federal government. Therefore, it is NOT the federal government’s responsibility. Obama usurped this authority. It should have never been granted. It is a vote buying scheme. Student loan funding should be returned to the private sector.
Nor does it have any provisions requiring a large centralized federal government to feed, house, educate, medicate, transport, or otherwise provide for the day to day sustenance of either the American citizen or the illegal entrant/alien/invader/colonizer.
It’s a Start. Decoupling needs to go further than that though.
