A couple of years ago someone commented that I was a musical ‘curator’ for the Treehouse Open Thread. I’ll admit to being a little surprised at the comment but, as I thought about it, that’s what I was actually doing. I usually spent a lot of time (entirely enjoyable, btw) listening to music selections before I selected 3 or 4 exceptional examples to post. I also like occasionally offering commentary about the important of specific performances. That’s what ‘curating’ actually is.
Tonight I’m doing something a bit different. I wanted to select some ‘white-southern-boy-blues’ by a long-time favorite—JJ Cale. I’d been listening to him, it seems now literally forever. But as I pulled up his music on YouTube I discovered that someone had already done my job. They’d curated iconic selection of JJ Cale’s music. The only problem (for me, anyway) was there ‘Tube posting was an hour and a bit long . . . quite a lot longer than I like to post.
On the other hand, these selection are so well chosen that I think they are all worth listening to. You, of course, can pick and choose what you like. So . . . I decided to post this entire 1 hour and a bit post. JJ Cale is one of America’s most iconic blues musicians. Listening to this, you can almost taste the good whisky and smell the sweet ‘pot that characterized our long ago music routines . . . “After midnight” can start now . . . enjoy Treeper friends . . . 🙂

Fireworks without the fire….
We were adopted by two peacocks when we lived in Wales, a Mr and Mrs.
They would regale us with colourful displays of their magnificent plumage, and we rewarded them with dry cat food which they loved.
If I wasn’t quick enough to serve, they would come up to the kitchen window and let me know I was slacking. Quite startling I can tell you when I wasn’t expecting to see two little heads at the “drive through”.
Joey and Phoebe is what we named them. One of the very pleasant memories I have of the idyllic place where we were planted for a long time…sigh…

I collect prayer books from days of old. They are small, so small it is difficult to read the texts. Some are inscribed, each one a treasure to those who owned them. All falling apart. Hard to think how such loved books found their way into UK antique fairs. But all are written in that uplifting reverential language which seems to have lost favour today. We just bought a beautifully bound and produced Bible with larger writing and will work to see that it, too, falls apart.🙏🏻

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

“With recent events unfolding, everybody knows about the Black Lives Matter murals unfolding around the nation,” Tayler Hansen, the artist who painted the mural, said. “I thought I would bring awareness to one of the biggest human rights crises that nobody wants to talk about.”
Hansen said he intentionally used paint that would easily wash away so he would not be slapped with a vandalism charge by local authorities.

It isn’t an exact science, SC. And the relief is fleeting. It is certainly less expensive than trying to go to a chiropractor multiple times a day. To be honest I wouldn’t know what to do if Mr. Teeter hadn’t made his invention.

It’s great that you know how to alter your methods to help you get through each day.
I’ve borrowed one and used it for awhile prior to having two spine surgeries.
It helped.
When you can get straight enough, assuming you’re experiencing the “joy” of muscle spasms pulling you to one side then the other a couple of hours later….
Stretch, stretch, stretch.
Stretch the hamstrings a lot. Don’t bend over to do it, get on one knee and extend the other leg out and work that hamstring, then switch.
Do this multiple times a day. It helps.
Walking does wonders, but stretch before and after.
Core strength is hugely important. Sit ups and likely crunches are a no-go, but there are other ways to improve core strength. Videos on YouTube are helpful.
Sorry you are going through this garbage. I missed anything you posted about possible mri results and surgery options.
With me, the lumbar surgeries helped. Took a long time and a huge amount of diligent, daily effort, but it makes a difference.
Prior to the surgeries in 2019, and the re-injury in 2018, the core exercises and walking and frequent stretching were actually surprisingly helpful.
Again, sorry you are going through this garbage.

Yall are the best! I am having a difficult time remembering what life was like before being consumed with this daily vexation. Pain has been part of the routine for 2/3rds of my life but I always found a chemical workaround until recently. This must be part of the Creator’s plan.

Hello Treepers – I’ve never posted in this general thread but wanted to encourage everyone to see the movie The Sound of Freedom. We rarely go to the trouble or expense of watching something in the theaters instead of streeming but this film had such as interesting backstory about the challenges getting it funded as much of the these is faith based. I reserved tickets for the very first showing at 11am today in the closest theater that carried it (not that close though, as distribution is probably a challenge also). Just Wow. Very inspirational way to spend a rainy summer weekday. Also making my DH, who has not been hip to all of the goings on of our government as I have been thanks to 8 years on this site, ask some very uncomfortable questions about open borders, missing unaccompanied minors and what structures of our society benefit from child trafficking. Highly recommend!

A pre-election mail-in ballot. Nonbinding.
Also include a pledge to support our constitution or other such proclamations.
This would not be a fundraising device, nor would it necessarily correspond to an actual election. It would serve as a gauge of support pre-election.
