Genesis 6:22-7:1 “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. And the LORD said to Noah, Come, you and all your house into the ark; for you have I seen righteous before Me in this generation.”
Genesis 19:14-15 “And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters *which are here (which are found); lest you be consumed in the *iniquity (perversity, moral evil [and so, its punishment]) of the city.”

The thing that the devil used the most, to keep me bound in my sins, and to keep me from repenting and completely turning to the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved; was the deceitful pull, and argument, of having to give up my family and friends, and turn my back on the world. It was not anything about Jesus’ words, or the doctrine of the cross, and quitting sinning; for all these are indisputable truth.
But it was knowing exactly what it means to repent, that I balked at; and through indecision was almost completely incapacitated socially: until God in His great pity (whether it was the Lord Himself, or His angel, I do not know) brought an audible voice, which said to me, “You are not fit for the Presence of God.” With the hearing of that voice, and understanding perfectly the meaning of those words; it was at that moment that I was completely decided and determined to repent, and forsake all, and come follow Jesus. In the very moment that the voice came, I was instantly freed from every intoxicant’s effect, and was perfectly sober, and clear in my mind; exactly coinciding with my hearing with understanding, and being ‘pushed off the fence’ God made it instantly clear, that NOW IS THE TIME! and no longer after this!
What followed was exactly as it had been showed me before, with regards to family and friends: the hatred and contempt, the hostility and cruel words, were relentless; trying to bully and shame me into abandoning this wild-eyed fanaticism, and come back and be their brother and son and friend like before. The Lord had shown me up front, what I should expect to encounter, because of His Name; but now the difference was, that which the devil tried to use to accuse and condemn me, to keep me in my sins, and away from Jesus, was all clear in the Light. The comfort and assurance that God gave through His Spirit, for obeying Him and repenting and forsaking all to follow Him; there was no contest for the devil’s anger and hatred and cruel accusations and lies; trying to bully and intimidate me, or make me feel guilty for repenting and believing in Jesus, and turning my back on the world.
We all have our own unique story how we get saved; but there is one unchangeable truth that runs common throughout. Jesus saves us from our sins, calls us out from the world, severs us from other people that we should be His, and gives His Spirit into our hearts, to give us understanding and help us prepare to meet our God. If any of these things are wanting, then it can only be, that the experience was spurious; and they have fallen prey to another spirit, another Jesus, and another gospel, than that which is of God. When that is indeed the case, and the matter is known, the appropriate steps must be taken to make it right, and ensure that the salvation and grace is really wrought of God, and we are from now on walking in truth, according to the Scriptures, and by the Spirit and grace of God.
So while our family and friends, neighbors, co-workers, and countrymen, all appear to be still back there where we left them, when we became a Christian; and the last evening before the final morning arises; when we will have done all that God commanded, and the ark is finished: when we will have made our last attempt to beg our loved ones to depart from the city of destruction and save themselves: even while they will not know until its too late; God will set us in safety, and shut us in, before He ends it all.
“You are not fit for the Presence of God.”
I guess I had a similar “experience” many many years ago – except in my case I dreamed I was in a sort of room, and a man came in with what seemed like an entourage, however I couldn’t really see or “recognize” any of them. The “man” who to me I instantly felt was Jesus, filled me with the most overwhelming sense and feeling of love, BUT, DID NOT as I was expecting and WANTING, seem to even see or acknowledge me. I felt the most terrible feeling of bewilderment – WHY???. This dream wore on me for many years as I knew it meant I was still very far and was most certainly not ready to be “greeted”. I’d like to think things have changed somewhat these days, and we’d get into some good old back slapping and hugging.
Unless someone has a similar heavenly experience, it isn’t something that can be defined or explained in the exact way it affects the one having it. I remember when that happened to me; I was with a couple of “friends” driving around town. The music was on, and we had all been . . . As I said, in the very moment that I heard the words, the music was stopped, and I was straight, and knew exactly what the words were for. The very next instant after, I said to my two friends, Did you hear that? Of course the radio was still on, and they were still stoned; and I don’t think they even heard me ask them; so of course, I understood, that they hadn’t heard a thing. God wanted me to hear, and not them.
What did you do about the terrible feeling of being not acknowledged and bewildered? I can see how that would shake me up for a long time also. The feeling I got when I had my experience, was that, No way am I gonna mess this up! and that this was the last chance.
“What did you do about the terrible feeling……” Well, at the time I was still drinking pretty heavily, and believed that on the whole life sucked, despite the fact that in most aspects and in comparison I was doing sorta OK (completely blind of course)So I probably went from “this is a message” to “well if even He doesn’t want to acknowledge me” I’m as good as gone anyway – let’s pour another one. In His mercy (and it was/is) He sent me a “small” stroke followed by heart attack a year later. I DID get the message, and so began the slow climb back (both physically and spiritually) to what is undoubtedly the truth and light. In short I guess I learned that just “believing in”, and not doing anything serious like killing somebody, was good enough – in fact wasn’t. There was an obligation on my part to establish a connection, to learn what His instructions were, and to try my best to follow them. This as everyone here knows is a process, not easy, and requires more giving than receiving.

I do understand the “pity-party” thing; even though we both know, that’s no excuse; as it is said, It takes one to know one! The way it sounds; I mean the way I read what you write; you’re not quite sure yet as you wish you could be, about your acceptance from Him, and salvation? Is it the remorse and self reproach from the past things you did? or have you not yet made the decision to repent and come all the way? It sounds to me; (but you’ll have to say;) that you are very much sorry for the past, and do sincerely repent; but don’t yet have that feeling of having been forgiven and accepted. This is not uncommon; but I believe there are positive things you can do to remedy this. And really, its not something you have to send overseas, or into the heavens to bring to you; but “the word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may keep it, and do it.” What does that mean? It means, “According to your faith, be it unto you!” “Only believe, and you shall see the glory of God.” “ALL THINGS, Whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing that you have received it, you shall have.” Let nothing be kept hidden in the dark; bring all out into the Light of God’s face; and take His side against the sin, and repent. “Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead; and you shall be saved.” Then, if you haven’t already, be baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and you will be a New Creation. Then feed on the word of God, and do all that He teaches you. When you have your daily Bible study; keep a notebook, and write down what you see, and memorize pertinent verses and passages, fitting to your needs, trials and temptations. The word of God is all powerful, and is Spirit and life. And while our past will often haunt us in our thoughts and dreams; we are New Creations in Christ; old things ARE passed away, and ALL things have become new. The old man with his deeds, and all his bondage and darkness, is dead! It was crucified with Christ on the cross, and has been judged and condemned, and has no more power over you. Let the recollections of past evil scenes in your former life be what they’re good for; which is to make us loathe ourselves, and all the more cling to Jesus; who has promised to keep us and be with us to the end; and that He will not let us perish if we abide in Him.

Good morning dear Bet! Isaiah 5:20 has been sounding in my head since yesterday. A father and a so who I know were sentenced for the “crime” of being in DC on Jan. 6. Both Christian men, all around good guys. The father got 2 years, son got 3 for having his skateboard which was called a deadly weapon. The judge has said that anyone appearing before her is going to jail. I picture her with horns and riding a broom.

My stomach turned when I read what you wrote. I had a rant last night on one of the threads. I would have thought hearing any judge say that would be grounds for appeal. But it costs money to do it. This breaks my heart. satan has collected a lot of souls all right, including apparently everyone in DC. And I mean everyone.
The only thing that comes into my mind is that we will have to wait on the Lord who sees everything.🙏🏻
I think they didn’t get a good legal representation. They were forced/or advised (not sure which) to plea and hope for the judge to show mercy. No mercy given. The family has had to sell their house. Not sure what the mom will do with the rest of the children. They have adopted several kids with special needs. Our pastor wrote a letter to the judge to no avail.
But God… Both are praising him for the opportunity to minister. And I m thinking of Joseph. ❤️😍

Good morning all! We finally got a good rain here at my Indiana home last night. Steve and I have been holding off mowing because the grass is under stress and we don’t want to be looking out at brown patches. The remnants of Bret has crossed over central America and may well develop into a named storm again. That name is likely to be Beatriz! A male name in the Caribbean to a female name in the Eastern Pacific. Would that make Bret a transcyclone?
The European model is showing the high sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic cooling quite a bit over the next couple of weeks. Wish they would show them cooling in the Gulf of Mexico more because my personal guess, based on nothing but hints from Joe Bastardi is that is where the next serious tropical storm action is going to happen.
On the climate wars front, here CNN “reports” that up to 2/3rds of the US could see blackouts in the event of extreme heat. You will notice how they talk around WHY that might be? Just a sentence on retirement of fossil fuel stations with no reason given as to why such perfectly good and functional facilities have been shut down. They’re so pathetic.

Here’s what I sense may happen. A grand deal to re-set America. End the war between left and right by granting full pardons to both Biden and Trump. End all divisive trials. Let the people have their say in ’24. Would you like such a deal?
First, I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance in hell of that happening. Second, you can’t trust politicians. Third, the big cheat to try and steal the 2024 election is certain to happen. There’s trillions at stake! As Sundance likes to say.

Uniting people is the last thing these enemies of our United states want.

THE OVERSHADOWING PERSONAL DELIVERANCE
“I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.” Jeremiah i. 8
God promised Jeremiah that He would deliver him personally – “Thy life will I give unto thee for a prey.” That is all God promises His children. Wherever God sends us, He will guard our lives. Our personal property and possessions are a matter of indifference, we have to sit loosely to all those things; if we do not, there will be panic and heartbreak and distress. That is the inwardness of the overshadowing of personal deliverance.
The Sermon on the Mount indicates that when we are on Jesus Christ’s errands, there is no time to stand up for ourselves. Jesus says, in effect, Do not be bothered with whether you are being justly dealt with or not. To look for justice is a sign of deflection from devotion to Him. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Anyone ever watch the series Gormenghast? The Books are etched into my mind as a kid seeing them in the fantasy section of a really cute little house that was converted into a book store at the outskirts of my town center. You would walk up a staircase to the upper level where the Fantasy books were located and I remember looking at the Mervyn Peake books because of the unusual artwork on the covers. They are supposed to be very unique, but I never got around to reading them.

I think it may be a bit more for adults. It’s Gothic set in a musty old decaying castle and its inhabitants. My fond memories of that torn down house bookstore are etched in my mind along with those three books.
It’s considered by some to be a great book series and truly unique. My heart is more in Middle-Earth, Gwynedd, and Pyrdain.
I thought what you posted looked a bit older. I know Gwynedd, the county of at least which is no more (double “ds” have a “th” sound in Welsh, but I’m assuming you knew that). I’m going to have to see if we can get this movie. It looks like my cup of tea.👍🏻
That bookstore was a magical place for a young Colkitto. I’ve haunted libraries and bookstores throughout my life, usually on rainy or hot days when I cannot watch wildlife.
My Gwynedd is an alternate Universe. Here was one of my favorite books for older teenagers and adults
I was pleasantly shocked to see it made it to audio book. With the recent interest in Vikings this book is a rework of the old Icelandic Sagas. I’ve read it many times over the years. Not for children. But if you like Vikings and Elves the Norse mythology, this is a great book.

When I moved to Texas in the early 1980s (from the NE), i was surprised how friendly and kind folks seemed to be in their daily routines…….holding doors open, saying thank yous, prayers before eating, etc.
What struck me most was hearing “have a blessed day”. From strangers. A nice way of saying thank you and good bye. In all my years in the NE I never heard this before. But here in Texas it was routine. Now 40+ years later, I still hear it and still smile and return the good will when I do. I seem to hear it less and less. Sadly.
I think we need more of “have a blessed day” salutations in our daily lives. Especially with strangers.

In Germany, walking in the mountains in Bavaria or Austria the greeting was grüß Gott. An idiom for God is Great or God be with you depending on who you ask!
I was an Army wife in Bavaria for 2 years, Erlanger, Darmstadt, Nuremberg region. Saying Gruss Gott meant much more than the Guten Tag said up in the Mainz, Wiesbaden area where I was for 4 years. We lived on the economy which was great, so much fun.
Despite rather intense urbanization in the cities, my impression is that Texas remains a remarkably friendly sort of place. I still hear “have a blessed day” often at my favorite city-central restaurants, although not quite as frequently as in earlier years. Drive outside the big cities into “Little Town Texas” villages and the infectious friendliness and almost unconscious politeness still exists.

A lady was driving down a country road when she suddenly hit a squirrel.She slammed the brakes and ran back to where the poor critter lay. Frantically looking around, she saw a veterinary office across the road. She scooped up the squirrel and ran inside, where she found a crusty old veterinarian sitting in a plush old chair reading a newspaper and looking mildly disturbed by her sudden entry. She said, “Sir, can you help me? I seem to have hit this squirrel with my car, and now I don’t know what to do.” With barely a glance in her direction, the crusty old vet said, “He’s dead. That’ll be $30 for the office visit.” The lady was a little taken aback, and said “How can you say that he’s dead from all the way over there, without even looking at him? And the nerve, to charge me for an office visit, at that!” The old vet got up and wordlessly took the squirrel, and laid it on an exam table. Then he left the room, and returned with a mangy old cat that was probably as old as he was. He placed the cat on the exam table by the squirrel. The cat sniffed the squirrel from nose to tail; then let out a forlorn single “meow”, jumped off the table and left. The old vet nodded a couple of times, then left the room again, this time returning with an old Labrador retriever. He lead the dog over to the exam table, and the dog started licking the squirrel up one side and down the other. Finally the dog let out a forlorn “woof”, and walked away. The old vet looked at the lady and said “I’m sorry ma’am, we did all we could do but he didn’t make it; he’s dead. That’ll be $500.” The lady was becoming apoplectic at this point and could barely control her rage. “How can you charge me $500 for THAT?!” “Well,” said the old vet, “it’s $250 for the cat scan and another $250 for the Lab work.”
