Retired Magistrate here: Well, I am 75 and I remember: the Korean War, atomic bomb drills in elementary school, the Cuban Missile Crisis, hearing about JFK being murdered in assembly hall in junior high, watching Jack Ruby kill Lee Harvey Oswald live on TV, race riots in Mississippi, Bobby Kennedy, Jr.’s murder, Martin Luther King, murder, watching the body count on TV during the Viet Nam war, having a brother in the Viet Nam war, mortgage rates at 18%, only being able to buy gas on certain days, no Christmas lights due to energy shortage, the Iranian hostage crisis, Gulf War, various economic downturns, hanging chads, 9/11, etc, etc.
So yes, I do remember, times as bad as now or worse. The main difference we are dealing with now is that the institutions we trusted in the past, we now know have been corrupt for a long time. President Trump is the one who ripped off the mask.
So today, I have enough food to eat and am stocked up for the future, the house is paid for (not fancy, but paid for), clothes to wear, a husband of 34 years who still is crazy about me and GOD who loved me enough to send HIS only begotten son, JESUS CHRIST, to save me . So, as far as I am concerned, it is a good time to be alive.

Here’s my posit… the information revolution has brought ‘the bad’ front and center in our lives far more so than say in the 40’s/50’s/60’s when we were youngsters or young adults. By the time Watergate hit I was a cynic, but young people tend to live in the moment and not agonize over the big picture so I focused on local, like that boy with the gun (could’ve been me) and lived local. Good times. Some older friends came home in flag draped coffins and, yeah, we read about the assassinations and the riots and Kent State and all that. But local, nada, good times. Now it’s all in our face, every day.
Try a test, something I do when at home in the forest. Turn off the technology for a few days and examine one’s psyche. It’s interesting what happens. Shut the lid, turn off the phone. Amazing 🙂

All that in the tank, the owner had one of the most experienced submariners in the private world next to him when they went down. That old guy, sixteen years his senior, with a lifetime of experience. He knew exactly what Titan was.
As I’ve said elsewhere, I have no idea why someone tried to launch a manned mission to that vessel, given the extreme depths at which she sank and broke in two. But also, the entire wreck has now been very thoroughly mapped (in 3D!) by many robotic probes that have spent very considerable time there. To my knowledge, no human has ever “been there,” and there’s zero reason to go.

In the recent past, Guardian climate hysteric George Monbiot claimed lab-grown food “will soon destroy farming – and save the planet”. Alas, such boosterism is being challenged by hard facts. Lab-grown meat is up to 25 times worse for the environment since it needs ‘pharmaceutical-grade’ production to make it fit for human consumption. In particular, there is a need to remove endotoxin from the cultured mix, a substance that in concentrations as low as one billionth of a gram per millilitrie can reduce human IVF pregnancy success rate by up to four fold.
These are the startling conclusions of ground-breaking work recently published by a group of chemists and food scientists from the University of California. It turns out that ‘pharma to food’ production is a significant technological challenge. The major problem with lab meat is that it uses growth organisms that have to be highly purified to help animal cells multiply. Compared with environmental savings on land, water and greenhouses gases, the whole bio-process is noted to be “orders of magnitude” higher than rearing the actual animal.
“Our findings suggest that cultured meat is not inherently better for the environment than conventional beef. It’s not a panacea,” said co-author Edward Spang, an associate professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology. The study found that even across scenarios using lower pharma standards, efficient beef production outperforms cultured meat within a range from four to 25 times. This suggests that investment to advance more ‘climate-friendly’ beef production may yield greater reductions in emissions.

I have reviewed the reports on the UK High Court judgment against Assange (June 8, 2023). His lawyers are considering an Appeal to “the same court”, “amid growing fears he could spend the rest of his life in prison for publishing thousands of classified military and diplomatic documents” (Guardian, 9 June, 2023).
It would appear that Julian Assange’s Defense lawyers failed to request the Recusal of Judge Jonathan Swift on the grounds of “Conflict of Interest”. Why? The latter are carefully documented in Mark Curtis’ article.
In England and Wales “A judge may recuse himself [herself] when a party applies to him to do so, e.g. Assange’s Defense lawyers. “A judge must step down in circumstances where there appears to be bias or ‘apparent bias’”.
And in this case there is bias: Judge Swift described as Downing Street’s “favourite barrister” is now acting on behalf of the Home Office, which is conducting an indictment against Julian Assange. There is evidence of bias in Judge Swift’s cursory statements.
” The test for determining apparent bias is this: if a fair-minded and informed observer, having considered the facts, would conclude that there was a real possibility that the judge was biased, the judge must recuse himself (see Porter v Magill [2002] 2 AC 357 at [102]).
According to the “Guide to Judicial Conduct” in England and Wales (2018), Judge Swift should have recused himself.
We recall that in 2019, Judge Emma Arbuthnot, who was also in conflict of interest had refused to recuse herself from the Assange extradition hearings.
Has Assange’s Legal Team raised the issue of Judge Swift’s Recusal??? Nobody asked him to step down.

The IRS first began investigating Hunter in 2018 in connection to a “foreign-based amateur online pornography platform.” When the FBI confirmed it was Hunter’s laptop in November 2019, the IRS asked to look at laptop materials to seek evidence for potential tax crimes, but FBI officials choked its attempts to sift through the materials.
By April 2020, Shapley, the supervisor of the Hunter case, was armed with affidavits to seek search warrants for the laptop and planned to conduct approximately 15 related interviews with potential witnesses. Instead of granting the IRS permission to execute any of these tools, DOJ officials dragged their feet, effectively denying them, he said. Shapley says that’s because this was the same month President Joe Biden “became the presumptive Democratic nominee for President.”
By June 2020, Shapley raised red flags about this cross-agency stifling to his supervisor, who decided the IRS should ultimately submit to the DOJ’s stifling of their investigation into Hunter. For the next two years, Shapley and his team uncovered new evidence of Biden corruption but could not act on it because of DOJ resistance.

Typical Establishment Uniparty tactics. There are so many legitimate reasons to impeach Biden. The country is going to hell under his presidency because he is not acting in the best interest of the citizens and breaking laws in the process.
The Establishment wants to keep Biden in power until they can control the 2024 election. I don’t think they know what to do at this point and they definitely don’t want an impeachment. Listened to the whole episode. Discussion of RFK Jr. pretty much occurred only at the beginning. Most of the episode is a take-down of Peter Hotez, “the Albert Schweitzer of cable news.” Also discussed was how “the medical establishment has beclowned itself” over Covid and the vaccines. Kennedy “winning” is Kennedy being honest about the vaccine side effects, as opposed to Hotez, who demanded that the DHS get involved to enforce vaccinations. In short, Hotez is one dangerous dude, not to mention immensely unlikeable:)
This wasn’t Tucker’s best episode, but the mention of Kennedy was simply Tucker’s opportunity to segue into spotlighting Hotez. (and some woman whose name I’ve already forgotten…)
