Allow this old gamer to clarify. In almost all adventure games, there is a main quest, and many sidequests not associated with the main storyline. Some players, and I have done this, choose to do the sidequests first as a way to savor the experience. This gives you in-game experience and your character becomes much stronger, so that when you finally begin the main quest and meet the first boss, you stomp on him like an ant. Or like an orca bearing down on a young seal.

Fifth season in a row in our micro clime area
Welp…..at 1300 yesterday our weather did a 180. Started raining and forecast rain until next Wednesday. We were dry as a bone for the mid atlantic region for this time of year. Gardens will be mud morass mess. Joe B mentions it.
Yesterday the weather apps on both my phone and computer were predicting up to a 70% chance of rain at diiferent times.
They started out forecasting thunderstorms by 13:00 and kept moving back the time until 20:00.
We got a few stray drops and that was it!

Each Spring for five straight years we’ve had too much rain at times interspersed with short droughts that bake the soil into an almost a cement like crust on top. Was watering and cultivating all weekend in response to a short drought. Now too much rain and cool.
If the patterns continue then August will be very dry and hot when some items should be productive.
I overplanted like crazy this year, (Brute force approach) but have already lost a lot of seed and labor.
Just have to don waders and press on.

John 3:9-12 “Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, You are the teacher of Israel, and these things know not? Verily, verily, I say to you, because that which we know we speak, and that which we have seen we bear witness of; and our witness you receive not. If earthly things I have said to you, and you believe not, how if I say to you heavenly things will you believe?”
From the moment that Nicodemus had determined to go and talk to Jesus personally, the Spirit of the LORD was moving him; even directing him to come secretly by night. Seeing and hearing Jesus had discovered something deep within, that stirred conviction and desire to know and understand God, and these words which Jesus was speaking; and he would not be deterred from what God was compelling him to find. Prudence directed Nicodemus to avoid those whom he knew would be hostile, and who would feel no compunction to relentless quarreling, and using the most cruel insults, to get him under their control, and to abandon this purpose; and to change his mind about seeking Jesus. And besides, who of any of those that reject Jesus, was able to answer for him to God? Or what, of anything they pretend to have, was able to satisfy the need and longing of his soul, that only God can fill? As it must be evident to every one who comes to Jesus, that all the worldly friendships will likely have to be forsaken, because they do not feel their need like we do; so what could possibly be the reason for consulting with them, unless we were looking for someone to talk us out of coming to Jesus?
Nicodemus had spent his entire time, from childhood, pursuing a devoutly religious life, according to the strictest sect of Judaism: he was a Pharisee, of the ultra-orthodox Hasidim, as we would call them today. This is a very strong religious spirit, that holds the adherents so tight in its grip, that any questioning or examining, that could be perceived as threatening its authority, must be held in the highest contempt, and shunned. If this loyalty however were truly for God and His word; then the Spirit of God and His Truth would be recognized, and counted the highest authority, even when every man was wrong. But they don’t base their beliefs on the Scriptures like we do; but according to their own writers and sages. And that is the nature of heresy; that all its allegiance and worship are concentrated upon man, and to that which perpetuates his position of power. So hypocrisy and pretense serve their form of piety nicely, for keeping them too busy to search their hearts and examine their ways by the Scriptures; because every moment and every movement is taken up with one fanatic duty or another, trying to keep up with the endless rules and theories invented. So the likes of John the Baptist, or Jesus of Nazareth, or all His apostles and disciples that followed, are necessarily constituted irreconcilable enemies to their system and authority. It was from out of this obscurity and darkness that Nicodemus was beginning to see; and his deaf ears for the first time, hearing the words of the Book. (Isaiah 29:18)
Both himself, and the whole community with him, were the fulfillment of what Isaiah wrote, saying, “Wherefore the LORD said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [Me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honor Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men: therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, [even] a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise [men] shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent [men] shall be hid. Woe to them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us? Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of Him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of Him that framed it, He had no understanding?” (Isaiah 29:13-16) Nicodemus was now being shown that foretold “wondrous work” by Messiah Himself in the flesh: the kingdom of God, and the New Birth From Above of the Spirit.
The Lord Jesus knew all this before He saw Nicodemus approaching; and so, as soon as he greeted the Lord, He began to deal with him according to his need, and the desire that the Holy Spirit had kindled in him. Even though Nicodemus could hardly frame the words to express what was in his heart; yet the Lord saw and knew all of it; and came right to the point; “Verily verily I say to you, unless anyone be Born Anew (lit. Born From Above), he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Out of obscurity Nicodemus strains to see, and says to Jesus, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter into his mother’s womb a second time and be born?” We should not smile and laugh at his question; for it was not as many suppose, a sincere question, as if he really thought that’s what Jesus meant; but rhetorical and sarcastic; as obviously no one could do that. He was asking for an explanation, of how that would work. And clearly the Lord understood the meaning and intent, by the answer He gave; which explained “how that should work.” “Verily verily I say to you, unless anyone be Born of Water and of Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God: that which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” Jesus answered his question, How can a man be born being old? by pointing out, that there is a natural body and a spiritual body; and that the life-force of God, which moves the natural elements of the world, is not discerned out of the natural on its own; but nonetheless is. “Do not wonder because I said to you, it is needful for you to be Born Anew (Born From Above): the wind blows where it wills (or, The Spirit breathes hard where it can find a way), and its sound (its voice) you hear, yet know not how (from what source) it comes and where it goes: so is everyone who is Born of the Spirit.” So we come to our text for today:

I think that there are far too many shallow, misguided, and outright wrong assumptions made, around this conversation; and all of them really stemming from “aside points” and deviating from the context. I believe, that the Lord’s response, “You are the teacher of Israel, and know not these things?” was on the same line as when He answered Philip, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet you do not know Me, Philip?” It wasn’t because Jesus was actually shocked to hear something He didn’t know; but because Philip wasn’t being truthful from his spirit, but instead slipping back to the easier old way of thinking, as he was brought up; resorting to the natural human thinking, as if that was the absolute authority to verify anything as real and true; at which the Lord replied, in other words, What is that for a shallow and untrue thing to say? What do you mean, you don’t know Me, or you don’t know the Father? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? He that sees Me, sees the Father! So it was in the same way, that Jesus was drawing Nicodemus away from stupidity and skepticism, to what he had already read and known from childhood out of the Scriptures. Jesus wasn’t really shocked, as His sarcastic retort might suggest; neither did He think that Nicodemus didn’t know what He was talking about; but he was strongly held in a habit of thinking, that naturally tends to question and debate, and demand some physical proof. And clearly from the things Jesus then spoke of, from out of the Scriptures; must have made Nicodemus’ heart thrill with joy and wonder, while hearing Jesus expound them to him.
Now it is very important, that we don’t leave out, what exactly the Lord said to Nicodemus, with telling him that he ought to have known these things, as a teacher of Israel: and that is the actual dealing with the affliction, the debilitating disorder of unbelief, and not receiving the true witness of God. As we started to say, how far too many wishing to expound this word, have been carried off and deviated to misguided notions about religion and the law; as if the Lord was pointing out those things, as the root of Nicodemus’ problem: for clearly, it was not the law, or religion; but unbelief of the law and the prophets; and willful unfamiliarity with true and sincere religion, that obscured the whole matter of the things of God, which are The Testimony Of Jesus Christ coming in the flesh, the Redeemer and Savior of the world. And for what did Jesus come, to save the world? To bring us back to God, Reconciled and Born Anew, and made His children; fit for the Presence of God and His kingdom, which He has prepared for us from the foundation of the world.
“If earthly things I have said to you, and you believe not, how if I say to you heavenly things will you believe?” The point here, is that the Lord has much to say to us, and to show us of the Father, but we cannot bear it just now. Even while we must for now only be able to see through the glass obscurely, yet God has declared to us, that nothing shall be impossible to us, if we believe, and do not doubt in our hearts. That’s why it is our chief business while we are yet in this world, to work at transforming our minds through the Spirit and the word of God; and disciplining our thoughts, and ruling over our spirits, walking in truth. In the 5th Psalm, David describes acceptance and fellowship with God, as presenting one’s self every morning to set in order his account before God, that nothing wicked or unclean or unworthy of God, may be in us. And so does the prophet also describe; Then shall we know, when we follow on to know the LORD. For the LORD God will do nothing, but He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. And, Shall I hide from Abraham the thing that I do; seeing that he shall become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will teach his household after him to keep the way of the LORD, and His commandments. And what God has ever said, He says to all; to each according to his ways and according to his doings.
3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that My children walk in truth.”
” But they don’t base their beliefs on the Scriptures like we do; but according to their own writers and sages.” Hmmm, pretty much on board with almost all of your conclusion and intent – except I detect a familiar “painting with a broad brush” here. Most certainly there has, and still is powerful groupings within all the 3 Abrahamic “religions” that seem to miss the essence of what the Creator really wants and expects of us. I personally follow one just such “of the ultra-orthodox Hasidim,…” variety – or rather was for many years. Without per-conditioning the mind, have a listen to this Rav, then ask yourself – are we really that different – is truth not truth?
There are no “3 Abrahamic religions” The word from the beginning was Christ coming in the flesh to give His life for the salvation of God’s elect. This, and this alone, was the faith of Abraham! Not rabbinic Judaism, and Not Islam; but the faith of Jesus and the apostles and prophets who have been since the world began. Abel was murdered by his brother Cain, because of the faith of Christ; which Cain refused, and killed his brother rather than do what God knew, that he knew was right.
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
John 8:23-24 “And He said to them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I Am, you shall die in your sins.”
The condition of the people of Israel to this day, is on account of their rejection of the Son of God come in flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ. The first two Psalms speak directly to this, as how God divides men into two kinds: the righteous (believer) who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, NOR SITS IN THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL. But his delight is in the law of the LORD (I AM), and in His law does he meditate day and night . . . Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD (I AM) and against His Anointed (Moshiach, Christ) . . . Yet have I set MY KING upon My holy hill of Zion (The Kingdom of Heaven): I will declare the decree, Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee . . .”
The ones entrusted to be the rulers and guides of the people to know the LORD, have usurped control over His people, and have made it a matter of religious identity, NOT to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I know this from my own mother, who taught us this when I was only seven years old; “We are Jews, and Jews do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” So when I got a chance to talk to Grandmom before she died, I asked her what tribe we were from; she said that we are Cohen, the priests. So then it all fit together, why the extreme hatred and hostility; because it was the chief priests who were the leaders in rejecting and condemning the Lord, and betraying Him to the Roman governor to be crucified. And they have never gotten right with God for what they did. And that will be the source of their great mourning and tears and howling, as for an only son; when they see Him coming in the clouds to save them from the nations coming against them; that their LORD God and Savior in fact is Jesus. And they shall look upon Me whom they pierced, and shall mourn for Him as for an only son. And then shall the house of Israel know the LORD their God, from that day forward, and never again go away from Him; and He shall be with them, and they shall see His face; and the whole world shall know the whole truth; and the Lord Jesus Christ shall sit on the throne of His kingdom, King of all the earth, from Jerusalem.

I agree with you in a sense on “religions”. I prefer to see it as a way of life. Not something to be attended to separately, and when one isn’t busy with other things. But in any case, I take no umbrage in your understanding and chosen path. My only hope is that you, me or anybody find true happiness, content and a deeper understanding of God, as is His will for us. All people who within them carry the true intent and heart of a person seeking to come closer to our God, the God of mercy, understanding, love, kindness, and yes, also of discipline, rebukes and even vengeance – has my fellowship. When a person understands that God truly wants nothing more than for Him and us to be walking hand in hand “in the garden”, and that the sufferings and hardships, even “disagreements” are at once both of our own doing and actually a “kindness” on the part of God, as a message of correction to us. The trick of course is to listen and figure out just what our message is. He is communicating with us all around, in every moment, in every event, if we will learn to hear His voice. Do we as truth seeking, God fearing people of faith not have enough darkness attacking us from all forms of evil, that we need make enemies of each other? Do not trouble yourself if you are exposed to “different” interpretations. If a persons faith is solid, is “working” for that person, if that person feels closer and closer to God, is doing good things, is a beacon of light, or even just a glow at present and desires to become a fire, then nothing will stop them, as they will KNOW they are following the one true living God. The Creator, the source of and sustainer of all.
Dear Oldspeak, I very much appreciate your kind words and spirit. Kindness and compassion, mercy and judgment and longing for righteousness and truth; the things that even our conscience should teach us as right; how much better would it be in the world for everyone; even in our present humiliated and fallen evil condition away from God! But its not up to us to just devise our own way to come to Him, and to “take His hand” and walk with Him. There is the matter of our spiritual condition, which was the result of the sin, and expulsion from the Presence of God. God is the only One who can make a way for man to be recovered; and He has done that through His Son Jesus coming into the world in the flesh.
The thing with ‘that God truly wants nothing more than for Him and us to be walking hand in hand “in the garden”’, is that we, our species, has been kicked out of the garden for a very serious reason; which Messiah was then to be sent to undo that crime and its ruin. It was in righteousness that God gave sentence as He did; and everything said in His verdict was in righteousness and of purpose. Man is not accidentally alienated by nature from God, and unfit for His Presence. The spiritual point at which the sin was committed, is the point on which we are all now tried and proven by faith in Christ, to know what kind we are, if we are to be saved. Moses was moved by the Spirit of God to write exactly what happened, and what was said: the things that are revealed are for us to know and understand the truth, and keep God’s commandments. Even the first of all the commandments, Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; all who fear God, desire to do, and know is right; but how to find and perform it? The law of our fallen nature works against the law of love and truth from God, unto which we were made. That is the result of the fall; and that is what the Lord Jesus Christ came in the flesh into the world to sacrifice Himself for us, to undo and make good again.
All the prophets give witness, and have foretold the coming of Christ, and how it was necessary for Him to be rejected, and be killed, and after three days revive and rise again, and ascend to the right hand of God; where now He sits, interceding for the saints, and waiting for the Father’s word to come down and complete the redemption, by taking away the wicked from before Him for ever, and establishing His kingdom on earth. The lesson given us in John 3, about the New Birth, and how that God sent His Son into the world, and how it is the Light that we either receive and so take steps to believe and obey that Light; which God is looking for. He’s not waiting like a bum at the back porch, for us to bring Him out a plate of beans, of “our acceptance.” God is the One who alone has the prerogative to do any accepting: and the Way He has ordained that any of us may be accepted, is wholly upon whether we Kiss the Son, and honor Him whom the Father has sent to be our Savior and Lord. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse the conscience and the entire life from sin; and only by the blood of Jesus have we access to God, reconciliation and forgiveness. And that He lives for ever, according to the Scriptures; it is on our behalf completely, whom He has made to live again without sin.

The fact that I am trying to be right with God is a sign that I am rebelling against the Atonement. “Lord, I will purify my heart if You will answer my prayer; I will walk rightly if You will help me.” I CANNOT make myself right with God, I CANNOT make my life perfect; I can only be right with God if I accept the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ as an absolute gift. Am I humble enough to accept it? I have to resign every kind of claim and cease from every effort, and leave myself entirely alone in His hands, and then begin to pour out in the priestly work of intercession. There is much prayer that arises from real disbelief in the Atonement. Jesus is not beginning to save us, He has saved us, the thing is done, and it is an insult to ask Him to do it.
If you are not getting the hundredfold more, not getting insight into God’s word, then start praying for your friends, enter into the ministry of the interior. “The Lord turned the captivity of Job WHEN HE PRAYED FOR HIS FRIENDS.” The real business of your life as a saved soul is intercessory prayer. Wherever God puts you in circumstances, pray immediately, pray that His Atonement may be realized in other lives as it has been in yours. Pray for your friends NOW; pray for those with whom you come in contact NOW.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Was channel surfing on YouTube and came across a sermon by a pastor I’ve never heard of, Mark Driscoll.
I was just studying recently about Jacob & Esau. This sermon gave another interesting perspective on the subject. A sermon on a murderous spirit, boundaries, relationships with toxic and evil people, and when to walk away from an unhealthy relationship.
Although it’s on family relationships the “murderous spirit” it reminds me & can apply to the awful evil people who want to control and are going after President Trump.
