My last paint horse retired to Florida four years ago to be with my grand daughter. She showed him a lot here in Pa. He is now 24 years old and is doing great down there. The hot weather is soooo good for his joints. The place where she has him also has other horses and he is quite happy there.
It was difficult seeing him go ( brought on my third heart attach) but I could no longer take care of him.
Getting older can make for tough adjustments in our lives. I still have all my riding equipment and keep it oiled and ready – you know, just in case some nice horse should wonder into my place to visit me. Horses have been my WHOLE life. It was like loosing part of me forever. (Sad face with lots of tears).
Oh, Marti … So sorry to hear about you letting him go. I sense your loss was deep since it brought a heart attack! Our animals do become part of our family and define our lives!
I know it doesn’t take away the hurt, but knowing he’s in good hands and is thriving helps.
Again, I’m sorry.
My situation was very different. I was young and kept my horse, Ranger, for three years.
The expenses of owning a horse were too much for me to continue.
I missed him terribly but knew it was the best thing for both of us.
I do treasure all the fun days of riding, tho, out in very rural countryside.
Maybe there will be horses in heaven when we will have new bodies?

My sister in law is the same, Marti. Horses all her life until the time came she couldn’t. Fortunately she has a very good friend in Wales who was more than willing to take care of them. For someone like her and you for whom these splendid animals are a passion, I understand too well the sorrow.💔

My trauma and general surgeon father warned me to never get on a motorcycle. Closed head injuries, most devastating. And I thought well there is no way I’d get on one.
Then at university far away from my hometown, a date showed up at my halls of residence carrying two motorcycle helmets.
Oh geeeeeeee!!
But what was I to do? I put one on (way too big for me) and off we went. Up and down the hills of Austin and around the tight corners.
I clung on for dear life, and the too big helmet kept falling over my eyes which was just as well. All I could see was my father far away and all I could hear was his voice ripping me up one side and down another.
That one I never spoke of, as you can imagine😎

My oldest is visiting her childhood friend in Indonesia and having the time of her life.
She just FB-ed a picture of herself on a beach in Bali with the following…

Yes!! She flew JAL as opposed to the AA…and as AA is having awful issues with their vaxxxxxed pilots, I felt instantly better about her going.
Plus she did not travel alone. Her friend’s mother and sister went with her, and they are all having the most wonderful time. Her friend has lived in that region for decades, and has taken them all here, there, and everywhere. Singapore, Thailand, now Bali.
She has just posted another photo of herself and her friend eating from a takeaway somewhere with the comment…
“Finally tried mango sticky rice. Had to get it about four more times to make sure I liked it.”
As for the scooter?
We texted her and said…

I did a month’s worth of that motorcycle riding in Bali on a surf trip, 15 miles each way from our bungalow in Kuta Beach south to the world-class point break at Uluwatu, most everyday
… with a surfboard in a canvas board bag under my arm with the cloth shoulder strap across my chest and around my neck on the opposite side
If you’re on the road on a motorbike, and if there are no large vehicles in your lane (trucks, sedans, buses), oncoming traffic coming the other direction will pull out and take your lane in addition to their lane. You’re expected to just hug the curb / shoulder.

The blue part on the lower left plate is narrower. My guess is that the round layers were assembled and then a chord cut off to be replaced by the blue cake. I wonder if the blue was baked in a round pan or in a rectangular pan. Either way, a lot has to be cut off to make it fit.
Good news is cut-off part is still edible — just cover it with whipped cream and strawberries/blueberries!

Hello Patience!! Had to work all six days last week (Sunday is the Lords day) and did not get a chance to thank you for the recipe for french toast egg dip. It was great!! Made french toast and fried potatoes with some keibasa Sunday after church and then again on Monday. Had some English Toasting bread on hand for the french toast. My husband and I really enjoyed all of it. Thank you again. ( Big happy faces with satisfied looks on them).

A continuation from yesterday. Both Geisha and Buckley get fired up after they poop. But Buckley, being young and spry gets to running around the house bouncing off furniture, like a goat. We call that behavior “the zoomies”.
As far as going outside in the rain. Both dogs object but we give them no choice. And both like “towel time”. We keep a beach towel hanging on a hook by the back door just for drying them off and both of them love it. Right now I have just had Buckley out in a light rain and have towel dried him and am staying up for a bit to let him get completely dry before we go back to bed. He is laying in the dog bed beside my chair.
Geisha, being older, can hold it longer than Buckley who is only a little over 1 year old and quite active and thus drinks a lot more water. He needs to go out more frequently than Geisha to do #1. Both will generally do #2 two to three times a day.
The biggest cause to a disruption in their schedule is giving them people food. After we have steak we generally give each dog two bites. Or if we have hot dogs each will get 1/2 of a dog. We do this knowing that it will result in looser stools and that we will have to take them out about twice as often as normal for the next 24 hours.
The only other people food they get normally is on the occasions when we have scrambled eggs. Then each will get a small portion. Maybe an amount of about 1/2 egg or a little less each. We always have cheese in our scrambled eggs. But the eggs, with no spices do not seem to loosen their stools.
When we first got Buckley he had diarrhea and we used the common cure. Cooked white rice flavored with a bit of browned hamburger with no spices and, as usual, it worked.
Their regular diet is BLUE Beef & Rice or Chicken & Rice. DinoVite on each. For Geisha a pill of Cosequin crushed to a powder. On top of that we put a little Blue Topper providing just enough broth to mix the powders in well with the dry food.
Geisha is overweight and is getting 1 cup per day. Buckley, at first got 2 cups per day, but now that we can no longer see his ribs and he appears to be a optimal weight, is getting 1 1/2 cups per day.
The treats we give them are also from Blue.
Only on CTH would you find an analysis of when dogs go #1 and #2.

We’ve settled on poached chicken as an add-on protein for our pack. They used to eat only once-per-day when young but now they have a small breakfast and a larger portion at supper of Gentle Giant small kibble plus a few bites of chicken and a quick splash of the chicken broth collected from the poaching. They are all rescues, and each has its own quirk (anxiety-driven) or two, so we now add 3 drops of CBD tincture to their food – it works great! Our house is up on a hill, with a huge bow window from floor to ceiling, so they have a view of the road and neighbors – they were barking at everything until the CBD, now they are selective about when they go a little nuts… UPS, Tree Trimming and trash day 😉 Gentle Giant promises small poops and it is true. All healthy.
Found the same digestive issues in my Buddy and Tucker with bites of people food. Since Buddy had a second round of pancreatic their only people food now is the peanut butter to hide their daily Pepcid. I make dehydrated plain round steak strips for their treats that they get twice a day. The only meat they can have now is chicken,beef or turkey. If tummys are puny they get oatmeal mixed with boiled chicken. Lol, they don’t like rice. I keep kaopectate from the vet on hand too.
Bacon is big one for giving dogs pancreatitis.
Yes, and in Buddy’s case lean pork loin. He’s now permanently off both.

I used to have United Healthcare Golden Rule as self- insurance, but heard somewhere they were discontinuing independent insuring. They were really good at the time… and premiums were reasonable… but it seems O-care has been really effective at breaking the health insurance industry.
I have been in contact with Anthem… almost double the price of the O-care policies.
I had hoped someone reading might have used SANA and had experience with them. Can’t really trust Facebook reviews anymore as they’re very generalized and sound like they come from employees of the company.
O-care is an abomination. It’s a shame that Trump didn’t have time to fix healthcare and open it up to competition. We’ve seen premiums skyrocket as a result and it’s as if we are paying for a major surgery every year now.
Monopolies never serve the American taxpayer well.
Best to find a insurance broker and see what options they can give you then if there are any, O care definitely did a number on insurance.
I had a 150$ a mo premium HSA with a 1500 outta pocket zero pay after, O care substitute was 800/mo 5000 deductible and 25K outta pocket expense (it was ridiculous to say the least).
I just cash self pay now, altho after COVID the clinic I visit price went from 100 cash with less than 30 day payment.
Now up to 300… no cash discounts…. & 100 of it up front ….. gotta find something else… tele-visit? IDK
Last time I tried the tele-visit Dr refused to renew my medication without physical visit (my local doctor had left the profession due to ……(n)O-care. Have to try again and see.
It’s a good thing I maxed out my HSA every year, still have money in it, wish I had opted to the stock market option for HSA growth / interest, when I left employer Dow was 7700 …. 34,212.12 today, I still kick myself for not doing it. Would have been free money….. tax free to boot.

In the UK, magnolias have the most wonderful fragrance. It is possible to smell them very far away so strong is it. So I was amazed to find that at least in Texas they have none. Our neighbours’ beautiful tree emits nothing…alas.

My 15 year old beloved granddaughter (one of them) came over one day looking very sharp, appropriately dressed as she always does for her age. She looked amazing and I asked just where she purchased her duds, expecting the name of a store I knew.
“Goodwill!” she said.
She and her sweet friend often go there and have found clothes for next to nothing. Thankfully labels have never meant anything to her as they seem to for many teens these days. She showed me other buys she had made. My goodness.

Thankfully not here. Just a massive torrent in the morning as we were getting up. We seem to be in a corridor which avoids the worst, but if hail starts, we quickly move the car into the garage. Seems more rain is forecast for the rest of the week, though from where I’m sitting it seems that’s more a wild hope…right mow walking outside is like walking into a sauna. Heavy.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

The Spirit of Jesus is put into me by the Atonement, then I have to construct with patience the way of thinking that is exactly in accordance with my Lord. God will not make me think like Jesus, I have to do it myself; I have to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. “Abide in Me” – in intellectual matters, in money matters, in every one of the matters that make human life what it is. It is not a handbox life.
Am I preventing God from doing things in my circumstances because I say it will hinder my communion with Him? That is an impertinence. It does not matter what my circumstances are, I can be as sure of abiding in Jesus in them as in a prayer meeting. I have not to change and arrange my circumstances myself. With Our Lord the inner abiding was unsullied; He was at home with God wherever His body was placed. He never chose His own circumstances, but was meek towards His Father’s dispensations for Him. Think of the amazing leisure of Our Lord’s life! We keep God at excitement point, there is none of the serenity of the life hid with Christ in God about us.
Think of the things that take you out of abiding in Christ – Yes, Lord, just a minute, I have got this to do; Yes, I will abide when once this is finished; when this week is over, it will be all right, I will abide then. GET A MOVE ON; begin to abide NOW. In the initial stages it is a continual effort until it becomes so much the law of life that you abide in Him unconsciously. Determine to abide in Jesus wherever you are placed.

Oh, BTW, my nephew is going to build my new desk top computer. He takes care of all the computers and CNC machinery and burn tables at the family business and built all the computers there so he knows what he’s doing. Figures he can give me what I want for about $1,500 using top of the line components and says now is a good time since a bunch of new stuff has come out recently.

Looking really good! Sherry made my date bars from scratch today and I haven’t had one yet. Been too busy. Steve and I got the new lighting for my flag and pole installed today. I already got the transformer set for dusk to dawn and now waiting darkness to direct the lights properly. Once that is done I have some things to seal up with RTV silicone and now I should have a low voltage lighting system that does job and won’t get drowned out.
Just finished a bowl of ham, potato and greenbeans and now it’s time to try out a date bar!

One thing she taught me is to keep everything you need within arms length.
If you had to take more than two steps to get something you had it in the wrong place , move it closer. That’s why all her backsplashes and walls in her kitchen where made of peg board . She had a spot for everything close by.
Each item she had on the peg board she outlined it with magic marker ,so you knew where to put it back.
And the only time she ever got mad is if you didn’t put something back where it was supposed to be.
She had a small house .
And it was nothing fancy.
I tell you what though ,
that woman never ever stopped talking, not for one second . Her poor husband , he could never get a word in edgewise , like , he’d always be holding his hand halfway up in the air as if to say , hey can I say something. He very rarely got the chance. She really did adore him though you wouldn’t know it sometimes.
One time she sent me out to the store and before I left she looked at her watch and said “it’s two thirty , you’d best be back by three . Then she’d laugh and smile but wouldn’t smile till she turned around.
I was back in a flash
So proud I beat her time.
