To my uneducated way of thinking, if a member of the Legislative Branch of our Government makes a “request” in the furtherance of its appointed Legislative function, this “request” is in fact a demand. You cannot say “no,” even if the materials are “sensitive.”
Employees(!) of the Executive Branch cannot obstruct either the Legislative or the Judicial Branch in the furtherance of their Constitutionally-appointed duties. No Branch may interfere with the sovereign purposes of any other.
The Congress of the United States has the power to decide that various things “require Secrecy.” If it agrees with you that the materials are “sensitive,” it can obtain your testimony without public disclosure of the same. It can simply say, “we will strike this from the record,” escort the general public from the room, and turn the cameras off for the duration.
But it can still compel your truthful testimony, under oath, and put you in jail for many years if you lie under oath. The Congress has a Constitutional duty which cannot be denied.
Isn’t there some rule in Congress that any member of Congress, whether Senator or Congressman, while speaking on the floor of the House, or Senate, can release, disclose, publish anything they want, without repercussion?
I thought the other day, when Senator Grassley made his statement that he was about to release just such information and was disappointed he was only giving a sternly worded speech, not even a sternly worded letter.
We need some elected representatives with the balls (is it okay to say that here?) to start disclosing what the deep state is so desperate to keep hidden.
State Media conditioning the minds of its hapless followers for the inevitable removal of Biden and the illusion that Fox news is not one of their own. President Trump has been silent on small donor donations following his indictment. In April there was a massive surge if I remember $10 million over some days. Was hoping to hear we’d doubled that.
Don Jr was on the War Room saying the reason he thinks the other 1% candidates are staying in the race is the plan is to divert donations away from both President Trump’s campaign and away from ballot harvesting efforts.
To paraphrase his comments –if the other candidates ended their campaign and endorsed President Trump the donations that the 1% candidates were receiving could be used instead to fund the major ballot harvesting effort.

I am pretty sure the reason “you can indict a ham sandwich” is BECAUSE unscrupulous prosecutors aren’t required to present exculpatory evidence to a Grand Jury, and the reason most Prosecutors don’t “go down this road” is because unlike a Grand Jury, in an actual trial a Defence CAN present such evidence, hence the full quote is “You CAN Indict a ham sandwich, convicting them is a whole other matter!”

I’ve seen plenty of cynicism about Sen. Grassley’s speech in which he warned the Biden administration that he had read the UNredacted FBI document, and seen the info about the Biden tapes.
Some say that Grassley was giving Biden a heads-up…..
but I wonder … you know, Victor Davis Hanson very often returns to the subject of “Nemesis” – — the idea that corrupt, proud people sometimes meet karma.
Here’s an idea on the sunny side of hope:
Sen. Grassley is 89 years old. Like some fortunate 89-year-olds, he’s still as sharp as a tack. He’s the longest-serving Republican senator in history. He’s seen a lot. He’s old enough to actually have come up working at farm and manufacturing jobs in his youth, and came of age in 1950s America. Back then, there were quite a few very sincere, upstanding politicians in our government, (comparatively speaking, of course). He has enough institutional memory to have seen the downward spiral, and the growing acceptance of blatant, in-your-face public lies.
So humor me this: I’ve done a little reading on Grassley, and he has never suffered fools gladly. He has taken some liberal positions. I would actually call him one of the old-school centrists. He has also been especially active in judicial nominations, among other things, and his participation in the Senate has always been incisive and intelligent.
Grassley was elected in 1980, and Biden in 1972. When Biden became VP, the two had 29 years of overlap. Grassley watched Biden’s morally atrociuos attacks on Clarence Thomas. Grassley watched Biden be the dumbest guy in the Senate. Grassley watched Biden have to quit his ’88 presidential campaign in disgrace for his incredibly inept lying. Of all the the GOP senators, I bet Grassley has Biden’s number the best.
Maybe, just maybe, Grassley’s inner old-school American has finally had it with the corrupt, lying disaster that is Joe Biden. Maybe Grassley personally knows what a total piece that Biden has always been, having rubbed elbows with him for 29 years on the Senate floor. Grassley has watched the constant stonewalling from Wray for several years now. A lot of veteran senators would finally take that as a personal insult.
Make no mistake – Grassley’s speech was a Mike-Tyson-level haymaker. If you haven’t watched the whole thing, then do it. If prayers are answered, it may be looked back upon as the speech that busted the dam protecting Biden. Now, pray comes the flood.

I had the privilege to work with a gentleman in the early 90’s who was a Captain of a destroyer that was in The Battle of Leyte Gulf, obviously he survived with two broken legs. As it was in WWII he went into a hospital, recovered back at a helm on a boat to finish the War.
One day driving around I asked what he thought about Nuking Japan I guess in my tone, he thought I was being judgmental, I wasn’t… this is a man that never cussed or raised his voice, but boy he came to life on that one, something to the effect of, “I’d a blown those little yellow bastards to hell. My guess is the link asks for money and thoughts you suggest will be ignored.
They don’t do anything with those surveys. It’s a psychological trick. Once you voice your opinion and feel like you had real input into the issues, they then ask for money so you can back up your words with money and really help get things done. Supposedly.

I don’t want to have to vote for a reporter for the 2nd highest land in the nation; I want to vote for someone who had their own personal experiences with private enterprise (Nunes, farmer; Carson, neurosurgeon) and have been put through the meat grinder of media and lawfare games (yes, Kari Lake is among them, but is still in the middle of trying to reclaim the voting rights for Arizona voters so that story isn’t over yet) and came out standing so will not be so easily side-tracked by the intelligence community.

Agree, Nunes is my first choice, Dr. Carson would be second. They’re both accomplished and experienced in the private sector, medical and govt. They would be very capable of taking over as president, if needed. That should be a consideration as well.
Kari Lake would be a better press secretary. Her experience in media, makes that a better fit.
Apart from that, Arizona needs Kari, and her battle is not over.

1) Leftist Recusal Hypocrisy on Full Display
Just like when they clamored for Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from any involvement in the probe targeting President Trump in 2017, the political class and left will continue to call for Judge Aileen Cannon to recuse herself from this judicial fiasco, presumably on the grounds of being a Trump appointee and having supposedly shown “favoritism” to Trump in previous rulings.
It is a load of garbage, especially considering the left’s willingness to ignore the obvious faux pas of having Katie Hobbs oversee her own gubernatorial election while still “serving” as Arizona’s Secretary of State (a post she was also elected to by fraudulent means). Furthermore, special counsel Jack Smith’s wife, Kate Chevigny, is lauded for her recent Michelle Obama documentary, but of course, that’s not to be discussed when it comes to the (checks notes) first-ever filing of federal charges against an American president.

2) Attempts to Bar Trump from Ballot will Escalate
While I would not put it past the Republican brass to float party rule changes aimed at keeping Trump off primary ballots, pro-Biden activists will most certainly seek to bar Trump from various ballots, whether primary or general, on the grounds of concurrent legal quandaries. Such attempts, if sought in primaries, will be aimed at depriving Trump of the number of delegates needed to clinch a first-ballot nomination at the GOP convention, allowing for party chicanery to nominate someone else, against the wishes of the primary electorate.

3) The Associated Media Campaign Will Crash and Burn
It already has. No one gives a damn about this, at least not any more than they care about their hopes and dreams for a meaningful future going down the proverbial drain. Years of “Russia, Russia,” eroded anycredibility the media may have had on various audiences, including those who aren’t particularly fond of the 45th President, who may have hoped for Robert Mueller and his corrupt gang to strike political paydirt. I suspect that President Trump hasn’t lost a single vote on account of these trumped-up charges and has gained countless millions more because of what Americans perceive as a “corrupt bargain” between the Biden administration and the entrenched judiciary.

4) The GOP will Stare Down Extinction
Modern Republicans would be wise to learn about the Whig Party, which died a slow but well-deserved death in the mid-19th century. They tried to ride the fence on the issue of the day, slavery, and often wound up being outmaneuvered by the Democrats, who would run northern men of southern values, dominate the Southern states, and win enough of the north to win the Electoral College vote. The Whigs eventually split, and most of their members became Republicans. That party got its collective ass kicked when it first started out in 1854, but won the Presidency (Lincoln) in 1860, and was able to field and win with an entire slate of candidates to boot. After the Civil War, the Democrat Party was blamed for the entire ordeal, and the GOP was dominant for over six decades, with only two Democrat presidents occupying the White House from 1869 until 1933 (Cleveland’s two separate terms and Wilson’s two terms).
Data expert and pollster Richard Baris has estimated there are roughly 13 million “Trump only” voters in America today. If the bureaucracy, and by extension, the GOP, screws Trump over in this present debacle, no other Republican nominee would be likely to eclipse Trump’s 2016 vote total, which lags his 2020 performance by over 11 million votes. Many Trump supporters were ready to throw the Republican baby out with the 2020 bath water, but only stayed around because Trump himself, the only person with enough political clout to start a new party that would have immediately eclipsed the old one, chose to keep the GOP infrastructure intact. Years of constant betrayal and feckless leadership have this arrangement on edge, and the most substantial proof of that is that Governor Ron DeSantis has fallen from grace so quickly with the GOP’s populist base after having been perceived as launching an underhanded shadow campaign for president many months ago.

5) Trump will Emerge Victorious, and be the 2024 GOP Nominee and an American Icon for All Time
The votes aren’t the issue. The party machinery is. Either way, in the long run, President Trump will be remembered as an American hero, the figurehead of a movement that rose in opposition to an entrenched, and oftentimes unelected, bureaucracy that ruled against the good of the Republic and the interest of her citizenry. Robert Barnes has carefully laid out the utter futility and political malice from Smith, and if sanity prevails, Trump will shred this opposition just like he did the Russiagate drama. If, for some reason, charges stick to Trump, he will still win the nomination on the strength of the primary electorate’s hatred of the establishment Republican Party and the belief in Trump that he is a much-needed change against wandering in a leadership desert.

Note that my prediction of Trump being remembered throughout history as a hero does not hinge on his becoming the 47th President. While I am hopeful that a series of consequential events will come our way and break the elections stranglehold, simultaneously crippling the ability to quickly and effectively manipulate election results over a wide swath of the nation, I am even more optimistic that these pains and serious events are paving the way to the culmination of this fourth turning, which will be the fourth in American history when it finally comes full circle. As I wrote last week on social media:

I was curious to find out why Ukrainian prosecutor Shokin had to be fired for corruption. Other than the usual chorus saying he was corrupt, I couldn’t find anything specific other than that he didn’t go after the prior Yanukovych Administration members hard enough (i.e. he was too pro Russian).
Ketchup Lurch softened Poroshenko up just prior to Bribem’s visit, saying “to my perception, he’s [Shokin] blocked the cleanup of the Prosecutor General’s office.” (Lurch’s son-in-law, Christopher Heinz, was also asked to join the Burisma board. I think he declined.)
Lurch, Bribem and the war chorus got their wish and Shokin was fired July, 2016. He was replaced by Lutsenko. Lutsenko halted the Burisma investigation, played a role in Impeachment Hoax #1 and was accused of corruption–illegal gambling. In total, he lasted from May 2016 to August 2019.
Lutsenko was replaced by Riaboshapka in Aug of 2019, but he only made it to March of 2020 when he was fired for not prosecuting members of the Poroshenko administration.
My point being that since Ukraine is a failed state, the corruption continues well into the Zelensky administration, which is possible set to eclipse all prior levels of corruption with the billions upon billions being shoveled in. I also wonder if Merrick Garland is using Ukraine’s template of corrupt prosecutors being used to go after prior administrations for the US. Once these clowns turn us into a failed state, it will be a long and difficult process to restore any integrity to the rule of law.
Shokin was labelled corrupt by Biden and was removed at his direction because Shokin WASN’T corrupt and was investigating the Burisma dude and associates (which would have led to Hunter).

Agree with all you said. That is the point I was trying to make. Shokin was fired either because a) the Bidens were bribed to stop his investigation of Burisma, or b) he was “corrupt,” so say all the usual media.
If he was corrupt, was he charged, tried and convicted? No. Did the corruption end when he was fired? Hardly. Despite a pattern now of Ukrainian prosecutors being fired for not prosecuting the right people, corruption is more robust than ever as Biden and his army of Ukrainian influencers dump billions and billions of our dollars into what was and remains a failed state.
When American corporations went to China, they claimed China would become more like us. All evidence points to just the opposite happening. When the warmongering army claimed to be making Ukraine more like the US, the opposite happened and it looks more like the US is being modeled on Ukraine.
America controls by using its corruption to pick favorable corrupt oligarchs to control the country. Every government actor posted to Ukraine is a part of our corruption.
It is very unlikely for any powerful Ukrainian to not be corrupt. All of the Soviet Union was corrupt long before it collapsed.
Part of our beef with Putin is that he has removed our corrupt influence from Russia’s corrupt Oligarchs.

The trees in the picture are the oldest trees in the world. Their rings were actually used to develop the carbon-dating scientific method. In the White Mountains in California not far from Nevada … the little-known mountain range east of the Sierra Nevada, which together bracket the Owens Valley, whence springs most of Los Angeles’ water to this day … (the theft thereof ruined and turned to dust one of the most beautiful valleys in the world, and the stolen water enabled/enables the growth/existence of Los Angeles).
One of the most stunning places in the world. Turn east off Highway 395 in either Independence, Lone Pine or Big Pine (can’t reember, but I think it’s the latter) – drive 20 miles up a fun, crazy curvy, paved road. Walk the short loop or the long loop and prepare for an indelible, unforgettable experience. Neither loop is hard. If you take the long loop, on the back side you are looking into Death Valley. The trail is not bad … but, slip on an icy patch on the eastern back side and one can fall a long way. You’ll be hiking at around 10,000′, but if you go slowly, it’s not hard. Long loop took about 3 hours of paradise, if I recall correctly. Short loop is a mile at most.
Its exact location is kept secret, but if you take the “long” trail, you will walk by the “Methusaleh Tree,” pretty-much agreed upon to be the oldest documented tree on Earth. Something like 4,000 years old. I’m pretty sure I know which one it is. It looks much like the above tree (which I have photographed and leaned against; the above tree is a star of the “short” trail).
