The Judiciary was supposed to be the most removed from naked politics, yet it could be argued that they are right in the thick of it. Obviously, their constitutionally mandated, life-time appointments aren’t working as planned. Their political bent seems to rival that of any cowardly politician.
Time to (1) put them all on the same constitutional footing by term-limiting all three branches or (2) restoring the presidency to a non-term-limited office to see if the orginal concept of two coequal political branches (elected BUT NOT TERM-LIMITED) can cause a return to greater objectivity in formulating legal decisions.
Thus, I do agree that, to the extent the judiciary was thought to be the most trustworthy of the three branches and that they would act as ultimate guardians of freedom, they are indeed the greatest disappointment of all
