That shop in Barcelona must be quite a place because they have such a great selection of really good guitars and players . . . Saturday’s are traditionally when the local musicians along with visiting musicians show up to play the newly arrived guitars . . . In Madrid there are several famous guitar shops/builders within walking distance of the Plaza Major so you can plan a pleasant day of guitar looking without having to drive all over town.
For guitar aficionados, it would be the trip of a lifetime, Garrison. Can you imagine??💕

Just finished my morning cup and am brewing a fresh pot . . .

If I may say this . . . When I was teaching my chair only brewed de-caff coffee in the mornings. So I brought my own Mr. Coffee and started brewing Bustelo. The smell alone was enough . . . I soon had colleagues coming to my office for their morning coffee.

Good morning dear Bet! Some MAGA cats here. To answer your question from yesterday, yes, I have lost weight, some 25 lbs. Lost 14 lbs before the surgery because feet my regular doctor appointment at the end of March I went very low carb and intermittent fasting. The rest of the weight loss is post surgery but I’m eating mainly fish and chicken, some fruit and low carb veggies. Seeing the cardiologist on Monday and will redo some blood work at the end of June and hopefully the “bad” cholesterol has gone down enough so I get them off my case about trying this and that cholesterol lowering pill. ❤️😘

Praying, praying a return to your cholesterol within normal limits. Mine is sky high – very strangely and abnormally sky high – but much to the chagrin of my pill-popping-like-a-pez-dispenser doctor – my heart is 100% great.
However, with the skyrocketing cases of Alzheimers and Dementia – I want to know the correlation of statin use with the erosion of brain matter. Fats are important in the developing of a fetus in the mother’s womb for the baby’s neurological system.
How does this go hand in hand with the ongoing maintenance of the brain and our neurological system?
A worthy investigation – had we not a million other things to investigate. God is the Master Engineer and I like what His Good Book says about moderation.
I’m about to break the news to the cardiologist that with Parkinson’s I don’t want to go zero fats. I think the reason for me having the narrowed arteries was stress from running a business for 30 years. That’s gone now. And you are right, moderation is the key.

Documented studies proved that after the medical ” profession” swallowed whole the “no fats” ideology, prescriptions for antidepressants skyrocketed.
Natural fats are essential for good health, I’m with Betsy. Butter? Good (anything I mention here on out is ‘in moderation”. Olive oil, lard for things like fish and chips (don’t holler at me, non-hydrogenated lard is the best (sparingly) (oh how good are the results?). Bacon is spectacular, Swifts brand (I’ve tried them all) seems to release the least amount of fat and remaining strips, nice and meaty, not too salty. Bet – I was a big fan of Wrights thick cuts until recently…. exudes monstrous amounts of fat (liquids needing removal). I don’t keep vegetable oils in the house. No canola, no corn or sunflower/palm oil. Intermittent fasting works. Black coffee or tea and water are key to sailing through the morning and having a hearty BREAK-fast. Protein, fats, vegetables – stay away from carbs.

Here’s a fun recipe I figured out after First Watch Millionaire Bacon
Six thick slices Wright Bacon – cook over medium until translucent – half way done
Add 3 tablespoons of brown sugar sprinkled over the top
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne sprinkled
1/4 teaspoon course black pepper
Cook until caramelized and cooked through
Apologize to the cardiologists for me… or maybe send me a percentage of their billing!
Look into the health benefits of minimumly processed coconut oil. It is a medium chain triglyceride that feeds the brain and can improve cognition. My husband takes a couple tablespoonsful a day and is much less forgetful.

About the cholesterol: I have high cholesterol and decided NOT to take statin drugs.
If you are taking statins, make sure you take 100 mg of CoQ10. The statins not only lower cholesterol but CoQ10, which is needed to produce ATP in the mitochondria (energy for the heart).
Stephen Sinatra, MD was a cardiologist that wrote many books on the heart. He was one of the first to tell people to take CoQ10 along with D-Ribose, L-Carnitine, and Magnesium (He called them the awesome foursome). One of his books he wrote was “The Great Cholesterol Myth”

I was in Hell-A – working as an electric power generation rep. We provided sound attenuated generators for movie sets. I attended a production party down at a sound stage in El Cajon. It had the world’s fastest percussionist and some of the loudest, exceptional, crowd-provoking music there.
Millions with an “s” of dollars were spent on this one-night only party for these theater professionals to “show their stuff”.
The producers of the 007 movies had built a feature cocktail bar – made entirely of ice – with television screens built into the walls of water features and exotic fish – and aquariums with exotic fish. It was remarkable and visually captivating.
Another tent was Mardi Gras themed with closed-circuit television cameras outside the tent. That was sponsored by Jim Hensen Productions and the Jim Hensen creators (past the time of Hensen’s death) had created a muppet “Beezelbub”. Beezelbub was watching and interacting… conversing much to the surprise of the attendees waiting in line to get into the Mardi Gras tent to make their masks and collect their beads.
I was alone at that event and though not yet mature in my Spiritual walk, the hair on the back of my neck stood on end.
Someone of prominence who exuded respect and power – I do not remember his name, but he was either a well-known producer or director, was speaking with me – while his wife was turned and speaking with others. I was about 28 years old at the time. He told me how he and his wife attended swinger parties – but they never swung. He told me if he had met me 5 years prior – he really could’ve made something out of me.
I high-tailed it out of that place as fast as I could – and never attended another one. Diabolical. Hollywood is a sad little place. That was 23 years ago.

I love’em Betsy. Had walking horses and many a wet saddle blanket. They taught me a lot. Most horses in this country are status symbols, pasture ornaments and a lot are ruined by inexperienced riders/owners. If you don’t ride often then let someone who does have’em.

I’ve mentioned before, monti, that my sister in law’s whole life has been horses. She lives in a Welsh property with stables and training arena. Eventually when she got too old to teach dressage and riding, she moved on to competitive carriage driving with her driving partner. A sport with great following in Blighty.
Her view is trenchantly yours. She wouldn’t have any inexperienced rider on her horses unless she was standing right there teaching. And she certainly wouldn’t let an such riders take her horses out on their own.

Once you receive Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you come to understand with more clarity what it means to be a child of God. Sincerely devoted to God, you want to please Him with body, soul, and mind, allowing His Word to reshape your attitudes and your perspectives. It begins with an inward transformation which becomes noticeable in your outward demeanor, appearance, and character.
Rather than being materialistic, you turn your eyes to the eternal. Instead of being self-reliant and selfish, you become dependent on the Lord, and your concern for others takes precedence over self.
Being transformed allows you to “discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2b). It is amazing to realize that God does not want to rob you of your individuality, but He does not want to leave you where you are either. The Holy Spirit enables you to grasp spiritual realities and become more Christlike.
Be mindful of the world’s attempts to fashion you into its mold. Stay close to the Lord in His Word and you will be able to live in this world with wisdom and discernment, with an eye to eternity and the glory awaiting there. Pray for those in authority, that they would know the Savior.
The only way to transform the world for good is to be transformed by the grace of God.

“How oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?…..” I ‘d just like to bring some clarity to the often mis understood meaning (IMO) in this speech of Jesus. Firstly HE uses the term “brother” to denote somebody of likeness or shared relationship – a friend. In this instance He would have been talking to Jews, among Jews – IE brothers. They would all know and share the common belief that in order to forgive, the “sinner” would at the very least be expected to “confess” and offer some degree of remorse/repentance. Nobody and to my understanding, no where is it written that a “child of God” is asked or required to “turn the other cheek” endlessly to their (and in a sense, God’s) destruction. In fact we are commanded to take up the spear, with bow and arrow and shield to “defend” God/ourselves. Of course and too often people have taken the analogy of the weapons of war to mean Actual weapons, but this is not necessarily and rarely the case. The first and main weapons are those of the spirit – EG words are arrows, a shield is your faith, prayer a sword and so on. When and with King David’s mighty men, made up mostly from rejected, battered, and bruised souls (much like our own), but crafted and inspired by the faith through David and his unyielding devotion to God, when these became one – they became the most formidable force at that time. And yes they used both sets of weapons (physical and spiritual) with deadly expertise.

I got our new table assembled after dinner yesterday and then went over to Steves and watched the races at the Bloomington track. It is Indiana Midget Week. No, they aren’t little people racing around a track! A Midget is a smaller version of a Sprint car propelled by a 4 cylinder engine. At these dirt track races they run races for both the Midgets and the Sprints.
Today I will help Sherry plant a some kind of a vining plant that draws Butterflies. Of course that includes a trellis. The bloom of the broad leaf cactus in the raised bed around the Chinese Elm tree out front are going to be magnificent this year. There are at least 2 dozen buds on it now.
After helping Sherry I will go over and help Steve. He has rocks and dirt to move by hand in his project to provide a drainage channel off the barn and the adjacent garage that the gutters empty into. The gutters from the west side of the barn and east side of the garage will empty into a bowl collection point supported by boulders which drains down a channel with a membrane in it covered by good sized rounded rocks. The channel runs down to the corner of the barn and turns east running parallel with the back side of the barn into a small retention pond. In the pond Steve has a sump pump which moves the water underground to the larger retention pond in the NE corner of the back field.
That larger retention pond serves as a nice breeding place for the local frogs and toads. That is until a Great Blue Herrin comes along and nearly wipes out the tadpoles as one did last year. We haven’t figured out a way to keep those birds away yet. Still, enough of them survive that on Spring and summer nights we can open our bedroom window and one would think that they are in a Louisiana Bayou there are so many different frogs and toads calling. Always have to keep an eye out for those critters when trimming the lawn. Nice natural insect control.
So it looks like I’m going to get my exercise today. Glad I’m home to help Steve. He’s 72 and I’ll be 68 in August, but us old Geezers can still get some stuff done when we get with it.

I do as well. I don’t usually watch videos, But I did stumble across a short one wherein two teens were presented with with a rotary dial phone. They could make nothing of it.
And yes, Della. As Chris says, technology is only as good (or bad) as the people who program it. I fear the latter mean to do their worst.
The other thing is something I’ve always thought…the more buttons and levers and bells and whistles a piece of equipment has (think cars and appliances), the more that can (and does) go wrong
When we needed a new stove (gas…and nobody’s touching it!!!) and then a refrigerator, we went for the simplest we could find on both. Saved a bundle, too. Off/On works for me juuuuuust fine, thank you very much😎

Asked him if he were buying one FOR HIS MOTHER (key) which would he buy. The LG was the one he didn’t hesitate to point to….so far, so good. But mine is low end and has knobs on it. The dryer is all digital.

The Presidential Thread – Lord, it’ll make one’s head hurt.
I have this vision of a herd of sheep without their Shepherd. The flock which was tight and together in a familiar herd. Now, the sheep have lost their Shepherd and they are forgetting His Voice. They are getting anxious and the herd is starting to spread out – with the outliers spreading further and further away – dazed, confused, and slowly leaving the flock.
It reminds me of The Lord’s sheep when Moses led them out of the tyranny of Egypt. Moses had left them temporarily to ascend the mountain to talk with God Himself. The Israelites became restless – the herd started questioning and were getting confused – so they built their own god made of a golden calf in Moses’s absence.
I liken what’s happening today with our American public. We have been without good leadership regionally and federally for so long. I implore you – as you see people say “Well, what if Trump can’t run? How about this guy, this gal, this clown in a sheep suit?” You remind them to get back with the herd – we have a REPUBLIC to protect.
MORE IMPORTANTLY WE HAVE A CONSTITUTION TO PROTECT AND IT IS OUR RIGHTFUL FRAME OF LAW IN THIS LAND.
Trump is the only candidate with the wherewithal and experience to handle this. He has proven success in his first four years of Presidency. Others need to wait and learn! There are no other candidates with such experience as him at such a great international level.
We as a country are missing our shepherd. We as Christians have our Lord and He will leave the 99 to go find the lost 1. We must carry the same spirits to care for our brethren and keep them with the herd until protection and trust in our government can be re-established.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Do you want to experience the grace of God in everyday life? Experience just a particle of his humility? Just a tiny sliver? Ask the Lord to see people as he sees them in all their ways. Then know this, he died for them all. A being so perfect and pure without equal laid his life down for me, and you. It’s why men fall in his presence, and demons cry out in agony.
No man or beast, devil or demon can stand in his presence, they kneel, fall, or run in terror.
One of the issues becoming closer to God is you see people in truth, you see deeper and deeper inside. The intent and motives, it’s painful. Mercy is to not observe this until your heart is ready. God puts barriers just for that reason. If you see mankind as it is I would say most people would turn away. Angels, who stand in the presence of God sit with us, can you imagine? Obedience! That is why you must love God first and all others after or you cannot stand their essence, or you can ignore both. Always a choice. You must not condemn, it is you you are condemning.
You must focus totally on our lord or the waves will overtake you.
As Robert (“Rabbie”) Burns wrote, it is one thing “to see ourselves as others see us”. But to see ourselves as He does? It is not to be borne. Crushing, shaming, humbling if we honestly and without guile undertake this exercise. And once done, the power of CS Lewis’s words hit full force. To Him alone be our eternal love and unending gratitude that He should do so to save a wretch like me.

It basically said… this cartoon was from a time before we were socially conscious of offending people (my words, not theirs). The “prejudice and racism” shown here do not reflect warner bros. “But if we didnt show this cartoon, it would be like denying that prejudice existed.”
It was a daffy duck cartoon. I have no idea why they let that disclaimer stay on the screen for SOooooo long before the cartoon. And it was not shown before the next cartoon.

As the days passed Frank’s demeanor it changed
His daily routine had to be rearranged
He tried to joke his way thru to no avail
The question was could he would he prevail
Now Claire came to visit and check on Lynn
To offer her help as the days ran thin
Would Lynn be returning after her leave
No said Frank as he rolled up his sleeve
Trained in the service we’ll manage right here
Deliver the baby clean up have no fear
Claire gasped – froze – stood right there in shock
Appalled and bewildered she could not talk
Frank that was naughty now you set it right
As Lynn drew Claire toward and hugged her tight
They all had a laugh as Claire recognized
Twas Frank being Frank so don’t be surprised

Frank has 3 children – and before each was born – he lost it – Nervous Ned !!!
Lynn was the only one who could keep pace with Frank – he did not want to lose her !!! 😃

Lynn sounds like my first daughter who with every job she’s ever had said to me that she understood no one was indispensable. But by golly that didn’t stop her from making herself that. Her mantra was “Have more than you show, speak less than you know.” I think she and Lynn would have gotten along famously😉😁💕
Smart girl – some people like Frank are impatient to get things done – his department was huge – one would think his responsibility ended with his lower level management – but no -he knew everyone – what they diid – how well they did it – so if his well-oiled machine had a glitch – he knew where it was
No doubt in my mind why he arose to the position – and he had a positive affect on Lynn, too – always smiling and upbeat – good for her and the baby – everyone liked being around him !!!
Claire was slow and steady – not one to goof around – Frank made her nervous – he was too quick – he would give instructions/directions so fast she had no idea about what he was talking.
One day, she asked me what was wrong with him – I said nothing – just the way God made him.
Perfect answer, duchess. My gosh it was! Rare it is today that there are managers like Frank. It speaks well of him that he knew one and all. And that everyone knew he”saw” them. You know what I mean…that they were people with value and not just someone who showed up for work. Bless him🙏🏻👍🏻
Well, we did enough moving rocks and digging for the day. We got the old 8 ft diameter fiberglass satellite dish set among the big rocks and dirt so it is supported and that was enough. The heat of the day is upon us and the work area out in the sun. We’ll wait for cooler times to lay in the black membrane over the dish and down a ways on Steves homemade rocky creek. The as the dirt settles around the dish we will start putting rocks around it. And then after that there will be a fountain in it. It will look nice.

And now this A/C feels good and this 1 pint can of Yuengling lager tastes darn good.
