I see a lot of torn, tattered and severely faded flags flying which is improper display and disrespectful. It is surprising but common to see memorial displays or local governments improperly displaying the flag.

Do your part and request the flag be displayed properly or not at all.

It is much easier to DO something than to trust in God; we mistake panic for inspiration. That is why there are so few fellow workers with God and so many workers for Him. We would far rather work for God than believe in Him. Am I quite sure that God will do what I cannot do? I despair of men in the degree in which I have never realized that God has done anything for me. Is my experience such a wonderful realization of God’s power and might that I can never despair of anyone I see? Have I had any spiritual work done in me at all? The degree of panic is the degree of the lack of personal spiritual experience.
 
“Behold, O my people, I will open your graves.” When God wants to show you what human nature is like apart from Himself, He has to show it you in yourself. If the Spirit of God has given you a vision of what you are apart from the grace of God (and He only does it when His Spirit is at work), you know there is no criminal who is half so bad in actuality as you know yourself to be in possibility. My “grave” has been opened by God and “I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing.” God’s Spirit continually reveals what human nature is like apart from His grace.

A great verse to remind me there is purpose in everything happening today.

Intent to post: I saved about 30 of “WP’s” Bible studies and comments through the last couple of years.
I’m sure there are visitors interested in this subject who may have missed them the first time they appeared.
In the field of Biblical studies many are uncommonly insightful and deserving of a second go-around. 

I hope to post them mornings over the next several weeks, unchanged and basically in the order they appeared.

Timelines can give you a 30,000-foot overview of world events so you have a better perspective of how situations or people affected the things around them. But, think of this… God’s timeline in which He sees every facet of life on Earth extends to infinity in either direction. He has a greater overview than you can imagine.

And yet, He is not far away. His perspective is unfathomable, but His nearness is right beside you.  

In the passage for today, false prophets created unrest among the people in captivity in Babylon by saying they would be released soon. However, Jeremiah’s message from God said to settle in, build homes, plant gardens, and have families. “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf” (Jeremiah 29:7). God was working out His plan. 

He has one for you, as well. Maybe you are one who is in the midst of illness or job loss, relationship problems, or inner struggles. God says, “Call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart” (vv.12-13). Even if things are going well for you, seek Him so that you may be guided by Him. 

Remember that God’s plans for you are always for your good. His timeline is not yours, but knowing that He is a God that never changes should give you hope and great assurance. Seek Him with all your heart, and pray that those who lead this nation would turn their hearts to God and seek His best.

PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY
President Joe Biden has nominated Air Force fighter pilot, General Charles “CQ” Brown, Jr., to be the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is presently the Air Force chief of staff and is set to replace Army General Mark Milley, whose term ends in October. 
Pray for General Milley as he prepares for his retirement and for General Brown as he goes through the confirmation process. 

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Russia’s Security Council Deputy Chairman Dimitry Medvedev told a Russian news agency that “this conflict will last for a very long time: for decades probably. This is a new reality.” He added, “Everything always ends in negotiations, and this is inevitable, but as long as these people are in power, the situation for Russia will not change in terms of negotiations,” referencing Zelensky. 
Pray for U.S. and foreign officials as they consider negotiations that will bring an enduring end to the conflict in Ukraine.

PRAY FOR AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
The new ambassador to the U.S. from China has called on his “fellow compatriots” and “Chinese students” across America to “serve the motherland.” He said, “Blood is thicker than water. Your support, involvement, and contribution would be most valuable,” and suggests that more Chinese Americans should visit China. 
Pray for U.S. diplomats involved in the interactions with China and the strain that exists in U.S.-China relations. 

PRAY FOR AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Medical researchers in the U.S. and Canada have discovered a potent and still experimental antibiotic that they say will kill a deadly species of “superbug” infections. Using artificial intelligence technology, the drug will address infections that have been increasingly resistant to treatment with known antibiotics, which has caused the deaths of more than a million people each year. The new antibiotic is called abaucin. 
Pray for U.S. health researchers and officials as they evaluate the benefits of employing AI technology. 

PRAY FOR AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
The United States is being urged by a former Israeli general, Amir Avril, to assume a lead role in establishing a coalition of nations to prevent the consolidation of the Chinese-Russian bloc with Iran that would further destabilize the Middle East. “We are seeing an emergence of a Russian-Chinese-Iranian bloc in the Middle East, and they are feeling that the West is not willing to fight,” he stated at the National Religious Broadcasters Conference last week. 
Pray for U.S. public officials regarding the things America and Israel can do together to counter increasing malevolence from Iran. 

PRAY FOR AMERICA’S ECONOMY
Inflation increased unexpectedly in April to an annualized rate of 4.4 percent, showing rises in personal consumption expenditures. The Bureau of Economic Analysis called it an “unwelcome sign” that price pressures are not yet slowing, even with the Federal Reserve’s rate-hiking campaign. 
Pray for wisdom for members of the Federal Reserve and administration economists as they assess the rate of inflation and its impact on Americans’ budgets. 

PRAY FOR GOODNESS IN AMERICA
The U.S. Marshals Services has recovered 225 endangered missing children during a 10-week national operation called “Operation We Will Find You.” Forty-two were found outside the cities where they went missing, and 10 were found outside of the country, with the youngest child being only 6 months old. Four 16-year-old girls found in Los Angeles are believed to be victims of human trafficking. 
Pray for marshals and other law enforcement involved in the recovery of missing American children. Pray, as well, for migrant children whose whereabouts are unknown.

PRAY FOR NEEDS ACROSS THE STATES
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said most of the state’s counties were under a high fire risk. They said several counties face a “very high” fire risk as temperatures rise and greener foliage statewide combined with dry weather and low humidity increase conditions for wildfires. 
The pending deal on the debt limit would expedite the approval of the permits necessary for a West Virginia gas pipeline. It would also curtail environmental reviews under one of the nation’s landmark environmental laws. 
Pray for state officials as they look out for the well-being, health, and economies of their residents and the environment. 

PRAY FOR AMERICA’S FAITH COMMUNITY

BE MY VOICE

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

D01:  8/17/2013

I had a large Eastern Kingsnake in my yard yesterday. This was the second time I have seen him in my yard. first time he was cruising through, yesterday he was heading into my Loralpetalum where all my birds nest. If I was dressed I would have grabbed him and walked him up the street to the river and some woods and release him. Instead I moved him toward the fence. I hope he finds some Copperheads to eat towards the river. He may be the reason my Chipmunks are so scarce.

Sherry is making stuffed cabbage as I write this. Made per her Hungarian grandmothers recipe. There will be enough for us and Steve and Betty for dinner tonight. I foresee a food coma in my near future.

High today forecast to be 99 F. so I don’t see doing much outside other than watering the garden this evening.

Now, out in the Gulf the invest has strengthened and is much or organized than it was yesterday. Joe Bastardi thinks it may very well quickly strengthen into a Tropical Cyclone but is likely to weaken just as quickly and dissipate so that it may not even be a TS when it comes ashore.

Levi Cowen at Tropical Tidbits got married recently and his posts and tweets have dropped off considerably since then. I hope he gets back to doing what he used to do so well when the hurricane season gets fired up.

My own sense is that since we only have minimal El Nino conditions at this time the greatest likelihood of tropical storms coming ashore in the US will be during the first half of the season and then as the El Nino sheer really gets going, the probability of landfall in the US will decrease. But that is just the guess of an old retired truck driver.

BTW Twitter is starting to get back to it’s same old tricks again.

A very well done and clean movie. The disclaimer is it is about a early “Progressive” William Allan White set in Kansas in the early 1900’s.
