Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Smallville – Silver Threads and Golden Needles – Linda Rondstadt
Smallville – Honesty – Jane Olivor
Smallville – Forgiveness – Sarah McLachlan
Smallville – I Dreamed – Susan Boyle
Smallville – Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood – Animals – Lex
Good one, Mary! Thanks. 🙂
Lex was far and away my favorite character in that show.
I Dreamed a Dream is from Les Miserables and when Susan Boyle sang it on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 (and blew away the judges and the audience0) it quickly topped the music charts immediately afterwards.
I bought her album and did a lot of music videos to her voice. Absolutely amazing voice.
She’s worth like $40M now but renovated her small family house (the one in which she was raised) and still lives in it. Completely humble person.
Remember that well. Bless her for standing up to the initial ridicule. What a voice.

Smallville – Coming Back to You – Leonard Cohen – Lionel/Martha

Has Chloe’s cult recruiting killed all those actor’s careers?
Allison Mack sentenced to 3 years in prison for role in Nxivm | CNN
Yeah. That almost put me off Smallville for good. Disgusting woman!
The psychology of cult attraction and membership is fascinating. It begins—almost always—with a vulnerability based on low self image.
I remember my niece being solicited for one. She has a very quiet personality and my pride in her is limitless that she didn’t let herself get taken in.
Early 70’s Austin . . . Was a fertile ground, filled with the lost and the hopeless, where “Jesus people” (our generic name for various local “religion claiming” cults) openly hunted them. With our long hair and beards, I and my friends certainly looked “hippie” despite being grad students. Our looks afforded us some interesting encounters and so, being good anthropologists, we began comparing our “field encounters”.
One cult used attractive young women as recruiters. We learned to identify them because their intros always began with ” . . . Do you mind if I ask you a question? . . .” Then, about 3 sentences in, you’d get the “hook”. Since we were ready for their approach, as soon as they began talking to us, we’d respond with ” . . . Only if I can first ask you about your levels of organization and recruitment training . . .” That proved to be a guaranteed way of terminating an uncomfortable interaction.
There must be something about the way I present myself. Not once has anyone ever talked cult to me, unless you mean Jehovaha’s Witnesses or Mormons. In both cases my problem is insatiable curiosity and they gave me an opportunity to ask all the questions I wished. Both ran almost screaming away. But I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’ve always found encounters with Mormons, both in school and socially, to be uniformly civil. I’m having pie and coffee meetings with some missionaries who are entirely pleasant young women (who so remind me of my students!). I’ve had less success with some Christian evangelicals who seem to think “pushy” is a holy writ. I don’t do pushy.
My respect for religious individuals comes from the people I knew in my Catholic high school. My disrespect comes from the few pushy people I’ve met face to face, but the masses of incredibly rude people on some conservative sites. Because of them, I will never vote for a publicly religious person again.
Joe Rogan talks about his Austin comedy club – the “Comedy Mothership”. The original location was a building formerly used by a cult that has a documentary called “Holy Hell”. The contract fortunately fell through and he ended up buying and renovating iconic Ritz Theater. Someday, I would like to go there and attend a cool comedy show or two.
Those cults back then were pure evil—and we clearly understood that. But, sadly, those were times when the counterculture of the 60’s was playing out. The streets of Austin were littered with lost souls just ripe for plucking by the cults. Just read about the Nxivm cult mentioned above. That guy’s in prison. For someone like him, prison life promises to be a very hard experience.
One can only hope it will be a very difficult experience that lasts a very long time.

Smallville – XMAS – Up on the Rooftop – Eddy Arnold
Smallville – XMAS -I’ll Be Home For Xmas – Pat Boone
Mary, if you go to the Youtube site, Trout and Coffee, they have several years of New England Christmas scene videos. Even rural New England, where they’re based, seems too “woke” for me so I’m staying in Texas. Their videographies are interesting, however.
XMAS – Deck the Halls – Shops – The Trail Band – our town
Love the tune!
Love Christmas!
Mary, I am starting the countdown right now!!!! My favourite time of year💕
One of my favorite things to do in summer was to wish Happy Christmas to strangers on the street.
Hahahaha!!! The looks you got I’m sure! Marvelous! I so admire your spirit😍
It always made people smile and that was always the big thing for me in my youth. The chance to see that unexpected smile. One philosophy I made early and stick to to this day is that whenever I think something positive about a stranger I’m passing on the street, I always say it aloud to them. Their hair. Their blouse. Their smile. It was easy in Chicago because people interacted constantly with strangers. LA not much. NY drove them crazy.
Sisters by another mother I think we are, Mary.
I do the same. And I mean it when I say something positive to anyone I know I’ll probably never see again, as I know you do. To see a “frown turned upside done” is one of life’s most rewarding returns on investment. For them and for the person who invests in a kind word or gesture.
I have made it a point to tell my three grands nearest to me (often) of the joys they can give to others in practicing exactly what you do. This s old world needs a lot more of it.💕
Maybe it’s because I’m an old geezer now, but my impression that more and more people are exchanging pleasantries. I almost always speak to people when entering or leaving a store or restaurant.
Only rarely do people not respond in kind. But, then, this being Texas and all, it’s pretty much an expected response. I think all our moms for generations taught that to their kids. I know mine did.
I’m seeing it as well, Garrison. It is a hopeful sign.
The first thing I did on returning to the US after living in a very small Welsh town where everyone knew everyone else was to try to shrink my environs. Try as best as I could to fashion that small town feel, which wasn’t easy given where we live. While not as big as DFW, it is still way larger than the place we left.
So when I went into any establishment, I started saying hello to anyone who was working there. I got to know their names, and gradually over time I came to know about them so that a short shopping trip was no longer short because inevitably those I’d come to know and I would stop in an aisle and have a small “how are you” chat.
Even speak to people coming in and out of the stores I go into and get a hello and smile back.
In the end, it really starts with each one of us, doesn’t it? And I’m hoping it’s something which will be passed on with each encounter I have.
Carry on, my friend. You are a treasure😘
“in the end, it really starts with each one of us . . .”
That really says it all, doesn’t it, Bet.
One of the best things about living here in Texas is the traditional quality of Texas small towns. You can find “Little Town Texas” literally just outside all the major cities. And it’s usually just a short drive. Going there is very much like stepping back in time.
We were visiting a famous BBQ in Taylor one Sunday. There was a sizeable slow moving crowd so, guess what, people began naturally engaging in friendly conversations with complete strangers. A guy standing next to us turned out to be a media producer from NYC who was researching Texas BBQ’s for a commercial. We all became friends and my car buddies invited him to eat with us. Little Town Texas will do things like that.
It does, I think.
My in-laws who lived in a very small central Texas town curiously had many a personage of the day sitting at their small kitchen table.
A cousin was a DC political advisor and lived in that town. One morning he just popped in, bringing with him the then Lt Governor of Texas who sat with us for breakfast. Another cousin was married to the owner of Justin Boots and was herself the author of a very successful cookbook. They would show up on a whim. Another was the famous pediatrician and author of many books, T Berry Brazelton. He’d show up when in town.
All were welcome even if they just came by. And all were never fawned over or made a fuss of. Just people getting together for the conversation and whatever food…and libation…was going. Just good old Texas hospitality no matter who.
Yes…good times, good times…
tiny, wee kitten
WOW! Never imagined one furred out that small. Or it’s a giant hand.
They don’t make kittens THAT LITTLE!
Or big giant kitten in the Hand of God. God makes kittens and puppies extra special.
precious
I want!!!!!!😍
Happy Caturday, y’all
Priceless. The kitten AND the philosophy.
How to hold a man down, completely immobile !
Truth!
Currently being held down completely immobile by a 20 pound Maine Coon “making biscuits”!
With his claws???
Well…..her claws.
She’s a biiiiig girl.
With sharrrrrrrp claws.
But the kneading is so cute I endure it.
Cats ain’t nuthin’ but miniature lions and tigers.
Endured because you love her.
Full disclosure: Been there many times😉
Yep!
Oh, I figured you had!
Got the scars still to prove it😉
Sigh. My little Tink’ (for Tinkerbell) is just about 5lbs. of tiny little kitty. 🙂
Maybe tiny physically, but they all got huge hearts!
Miniature lions and tigers….
Amen!!!
Best kind. Just clipped the Maine Coon. Takes two of us, even though the kittahs are usually pretty docile.
I agree.
I need to clip hers.
I don’t have a death wish….
My husband describes people in the news today as “Well-balanced”…
…they have a chip on BOTH shoulders😎
Good morning Bet! Ain’t that the truth. One of the reasons that we fired the boob tube a few years ago.
Morning, my brother😘 Yep! We cut the cord and now are very selective about what we watch…Father Brown, Foyle’s War, Vera, Shetland, and various other British goodies from long ago which, until recently, were woke-free (gosh I hate that word).
Add a small bowl of Blue Bell, we have THE perfect evening for two old codgers. Comfort watching with comfort food…nothing better😎👍🏻
My husband and I do the same thing and are upset about the sneaking political correctness and wokeness that has invaded the shows. We watch them going back to season one and start over again.
Mary Jane!! This is EXACTLY what we do as well. I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve re-watched each of our faves.
The bonus is that with each re-watching, we catch something we missed before.
Add in Morse, Lewis…like going back to our Welsh home again…sigh…
I stopped American shows cold and was going crazy until I found the Korean and Chinese ones. All the morals I was missing, but done in the best technical quality with some of the most incredible writing. Because I wrote agented scripts, the writing is crucial for me and I’m constantly stunned by the creativeness that those dramas have when the writers in American TV are only rewarded for going brain dead and repetitive. I’m so blissful.
Father Brown, Foyle’s War for sure. Vera we bought but I couldn’t get into it. Never tried Shetland. Have all the Inspector Morse variants.
You would very much enjoy Shetland, Mary. Based on the books of Anne Cleeves who also wrote the original Veras.
She and her husband lived in Shetland. When he passed away she said it would be impossible for her to write anymore, and I was tremendously sorry about that because we were riveted by them.
Currently on Britbox they are running all 7 series back to back. There will be no more I am sad to say.
As I mentioned, wasn’t impressed with Vera. I have several shelves in the library filled with Brit shows so I don’t worry about where they might be showing. Ten foot ceiling and bays of DVDs so I’m set for quite a while without needing to find modern versions that went off the rails. I’m very lucky to have the mind of a Bichon so every time I watch a show, most of it is new and still clever.
You two!! You reminded me of the Blue Bell “Great Divide” – sooooo good!
I just went to get BB provisions for tonight, JWoo, at our neighbourhood Walmart. They had nothing except Homemade Vanilla and couple of different flavours, including a new one, Dr Pepper Float. No Butter Pecan which I was looking for.
So off to Kroger where I found it…but the PRICE!!! Fifty one cents off $10!😖
I bought it because it is our one indulgence. I remember last year when it was $6.99, $5.99 occasionally.
We shall dole it out with care to make it last. Criminy!!!
Yep… it’s in the $9 range where I am. But, I consider… if I take daughter to an ice cream store, two double-dips plus cones, plus a nice tip for they youngsters at the counter is almost $20.
I think like you. Cheap by comparison.
Hi B and Co.
I watch Vera and Shetland but haven’t forayed into Father Brown yet. Watched all the Rosmary and Thyme episodes; a BritBox subscriber, I am. Now I’m wondering if Wooster and Jeeves is still available. Will look tonight.
Parichute, you’d enjoy Father Grown very much I think. They run about 45 minutes per episode. We are just finishing up rewatching season 9, and our grands who always enjoyed them tell us Season 10 is out here this year.
As for Jeeves and Wooster, I have read all those PG Wodehouse masterpieces many times and have formed in my mind how each character looks, so I have given them a miss.
But British productions made today are all marinated in PC. And it all seems with bossy, overbearing unpleasant women in lead roles. So we have given them a miss, too.
We rewatched all the Poirots recently, and I must say the more we do so, the more we like them.
We subscribe to Acorn as well.
If you haven’t seen the series “Unforgotten” , I highly highly recommend it. Acting, storylines…perfection!
I own Wooster and Jeeves but have still not been able to make myself go thru the whole thing. I watched in the days before I turned subtitles on and the accents were doing me in. Interesting that a lot of the British shows use nat sound that is hard to understand. But the opposite extreme is Chinese and Korean shows where they almost never use ANY nat sound. The art of voice dubbing is a big deal there and you almost never hear the real voice of an actor or actress. Echoes! Eeeckkk. And the foley is often not to be believed.
When I canceled cable, the kiddo thought it would be a tragedy missing cooking shows, etc. However, the minute it was gone – and we still have 40 stations with rabbit ears – she found it more peaceful. Cable had hundreds and hundreds of stations of quite literally “nothing”. Our home was more peaceful without it. I actually PAY MORE for Wi-Fi internet alone – then I would if I was bundling internet with a cable package. But, I was sending a message to the Spectrum monopoly they have over us – their cable propaganda was not welcome. Liberating.
The Chinese and Korean subscription services seem to be about $10/month each, or free. I stay with only those and with a YouTube subscription. Thought I’d miss Fox News since I had been addicted, but shocked to realize I don’t miss it at all.

It’s CATURDAY!!
Where are all the cats??? Here, let me help…
Heh!
Mornin’ Bet! 🙂
A cheery good morning, dear Garrison. We had a cold front move through yesterday. It’s like an early October morning here. Oh the joy!!!!!!!😁💕
We got the cold front sometime last night I think. Thanks to imbibing some especially good whisky, I slept soundly through the whole thing.
Stepped in the remnants of a small roof leak this morning. I initially thought little Tink’ had left me a morning surprise. Then a friend called and asked if I’d seen the thunder, lightning, and pretty heavy rain. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I hadn’t . . . 🙂
Ha! Same the other night for me. Chris asked if I’d heard the thunder and lightning. Nope. Had a superb night sleep that night, so rare these days.
And I love thunder and lightning at night, so I was sort of sorry I missed it.
Another leak? Do NOT get on that roof, my friend.
Or else I will have to stare at you in Southern…and nobody wants that!!🤗
Ha!
One slightly cocked eyebrow….
My two daughters can do that easily and effectively, as can one granddaughter.
When I try it, I look as if I need medical help😂…so I’m told.
Ha! That’s plumb comical!
Hate to break this to you……the solution to the Southern Stare, from a man’s perspective, is to gaze intently into her eyes, grin charmingly, slightly lower your voice and say “you’re so pretty when you’re angry”.
And not care about the stare.
Yeah, it’s just the guy tweaking the girl, but after awhile they figure that out.
Still, Southern Stare rocks.
That slightly cocked eyebrow!
Whew!!!
😂😂😂!!! There are measures and counter measures all right.
I can’t raise my eyebrow, but I do have a thousand yard stare which has proven very effective and successful with child rearing. Ask mine..they will tell you😎
Ha!
Child rearing and disapproving stares sometimes go hand in hand.
At some point, the kids realize they are doing something they are not supposed to do and the stare is the functional equivalent of a rattlesnake rattling its tail.
Nuthin’ good comes after that!
The bonus is that no words are necessary, Greg. Negates the possibility of saying something one might regret later. Which I have done in my tireder moments. I guarantee there isn’t a parent out there who hasn’t. Staring is better…
You said it better than I could!
The leak is a persistent one. It comes when blowing rain drives water under the roofing tiles. That must have been some rain storm I slept through.
Re: climbing on the roof. I have a very strong ladder connecting to a lower side porch. I climb to that side porch’s roof, then step over the low sloped roof’s 3 ft. surrounding parapet. The climb is very easy, even for a geezer like me and working on a low slope roof with a surrounding parapet is very safe. From there I can easily reach the roofing tiles part of the roof I’m repairing. If this “fix” doesn’t work I’ll file a claim and replace the tile roof.
Okay then, go ahead…but you be CAREFUL!!
I’ll put my Southern stare aside for another time…😏
Hahahaha!
As much fun as you are on here, you gotta be even more fun in person!
Oh bless, Greg😘
My two girls would have you in stitches. Well, grown women actually, but even their texts have me crying with laughter.
It really is so good to laugh😁
Yes.it.is!
Bless you, my friend. You are what we call in the UK a very good egg😘
Truly funny.
Somebody asked about Schrodinger’s cat the other day
Couldn’t find the cat but here are his plates
Hysterical.
Get a glass cutter and cut the top left pane so you can reach in. Sacrifice one pane in the door to save all the bowls. Or not!
Rah… I want to be on your survivor island team. I don’t watch any of that reality television but in an apocalypse, I want to be on your team. (Lobbying now for a placement..)
If you can bring a friend(s), take me (us) with you!!!!
Rah’s in charge but I’m sure he would let us all survive with him. He is one that I would never question his orders!
Good morning JWoo!
Good morning Grandpa. Hope you’re improving every day and getting back to your spry self!
Good morning Garrison!
How was your coffee date with the young evangelicals? I’m sure you were such captivating company. You tell the best stories.
Ooooooo YES! I want to know as well!
We had our third pie and coffee visit at my favorite restaurant. They are just delightful early 20 somethings, so like my students that it made me a little nostalgic for teaching again. And yes, as with my students, they liked my story telling. It is what I did for a living for so many years, after all.
I didn’t tell them this but it was obvious that—to quote my more rural friends—“they was raised up right”. Engaging, intelligent, never obsequious, or condescending, we talked for almost 2 hours.
From the start, they understood that, although I am a strong believer I am also by choice, unchurched. Although I could never properly comport myself with rigid church doctrines, I’m perfectly ok with other people needing that kind of structure in their lives.
So a long time ago I decided it was going to just be me and Him. I explained to the girls that I talk to Him exactly like I talked to my father. Since I’ve directly felt His presence many times, I’m confident that He understands this. They just nodded and our conversation moved on. Their mission will require them to move on at some point. But, until that happens, I think we’re going to be friends.
This brings me the biggest smile. In some ways, it is reverse proselytizing.
Humans, religious or not, can sometimes fail you. It’s human nature. But what you are teaching them… is that relationship with God… as well as His Judgement and Training… is one on One… and that will never fail them… ever.
Good on you, Garrison. Love it so much, brother. Bravo!
When we love someone, like The Big Guy, we pursue them. We want to hear their words and their stories. When we respect them, we want to grow in their wisdom. Knowing His Word helps us discern the doctrine that can get easily veer out of line in organized religion. When the religion becomes its own god and tries to usurp God’s Plan. Some of the horriblest humans I know are professing, self-righteous christians. Savannah calls them the “little c’s”.
Who can change them? Not us. But, God can, and He Will in His Perfect Timing.
Mornin’ W00 . . . 🙂
OK. I’m impressed. It would never occur to me to destroy to save, but the moment you say it, it’s the ultimate logic.
Just looking at those plates s minded me of a couple for whom we house sat (and the or two girls) when they were off to some orthopaedic convention or another.
She told me that once her long glass fronted cabinet affixed to the wall (in her kitchen) which was filled with all her pottery and china (tons of it, weight wise as well as in sheer numbers) suddenly fell off the wall and crashed to the ground. All destroyed.
She was in that kitchen when it happened and was darned lucky to have escaped from the flying glass.
I’ve lost a lot of dishes that way, and my friend ended up UNDER hers. Not attaching them to the wall is NOT an option.
Hope she was all right, Mary😬
He’s a smart cookie, Mary. Nice to see you, friend.
Well shoot! I need to get you ladies in contact with Sherry! She does not share your opinion about my cleverness/logic sometimes. On 2nd thought, that isn’t a good idea! Then she would be telling you all about all the dumb things I’ve done in the last 30 years!
Ooooooohhh YEESSSS!!! Camp stories about Rah! I am totally down for that! Sherry sounds like an amazing lady. All your sweet marriages and memories give singles like me “life goals”.
Two more years raising wee one and maybe I will venture back out there… but people are too scary and too weird nowadays. I would rather be single and peaceful than surrounded and chaotic.
It’s really nice to hear your stories, though. You all honor your marriages and spouses so beautifully. The way God intended.
I looked and looked and then stopped looking and that is when Sherry came along.
rah, you’re such a GUY
… all the women out there are probably saying right now
I prefer to think outside the box. /s
If the box has a glass top …….
then either bury the dead cat or let the live one out and feed and water it.
PLUS! I want justice! Schrodinger prosecuted for cruelty for putting the cat in the box in the first place!
If anyone asks which mass shootings the 2nd Amendment is supposed to prevent, tell them, “These ones.” and drop the microphone.

stellar example, Taq
Yeah it is!
2nd Amendment = 400 million privately owned firearms. An armed populace can shoot back, of course, but what the 2nd does that’s even more important is provide us with a guarantee of political power sharing.
Just prior to WWII, Japanese admiral Yamamoto, who had spent time in the US, commented, “I would never invade America, there is a gun behind every blade of grass.”
The NRA was established after the Civil War by two former Union Officers in NY. They were motivated to do so because they had witnessed the abysmal marksmanship of so many Union Troops, especially those from the more developed states in the east.
rah: Unfortunately, NRA lost its way. Some of us are trying to bring the front sight back on target.
Have they moved their headquarters from NY yet? Texas I believe is where they were headed…
Bible Study Help #5, ‘A Christmas Story‘ Abridged
Luke 1:1 “…many have taken in hand to set…things…most surely…”
1:2 “…delivered unto us…eyewitnesses, and ministers...” Ensured accuracy from witnesses.
1:3 “...perfect understanding of all things…”
1:4 “That thou mightest know...” Luke wants all of us to “perfectly understand” as well.
1:5 “…a priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: his wife of…Aaron…was Elisabeth.”
Luke makes clear both were the bloodline of the Priests (Levites).
Background: “course of Abia” [Greek N.T. Abia / Hebrew O.T. Abijah] identifies priesthood. Each Priest served 2 ‘courses’ per year. 24 total courses of 1 week each, times 2 courses = 48 weeks. PLUS 1 week for Feast of Tabernacles, 1 week for Pentecost, and 2 weeks for Passover for a total of 52 weeks. Calendar year starts on the 1st day of Spring ensuring accuracy. GOD‘s calendar based on the Sun [solar] never changes, Satan’s, based on the Moon [lunar] changes every year.
1 Chron. 24:1 “…these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron…” “divisions” = courses, identified and scheduled.
24:10 “...the eighth to Abijah.” Abia’s placement & rotation in the 24 week cycle.
Eight in Biblical numerics = ‘New Beginnings’. Affirms renewal through Christ, and which course applied.
Abijah/Abia’s two rotations; [Gregorian, modern calendar] 1st. June 13th – 19th. 2nd. December 6th – 12th.
Return to Luke 1;
Luke 1:6 “…both righteous before God…”
1:7 “...had no child…both…well stricken in years...”
1:8 “...he executed the priest’s office…in the order of his course,” June 13th – June 19th.
1:11 “...there appeared…an angel of the LORD...” A Divine personal message.
1:13 “...the angel said…”Fear not Zacharias…thy wife Elisabeth shall bear…a son…”
GOD named John.
Luke 1:14 “...many shall rejoice at his birth.”
1:15 “…he shall be great in the sight of the LORD…”
1:17 “…he shall go before Him…to make ready…for the LORD.”
1:18 “...I am an old man…my wife well stricken in years...” Zacharias found this hard to believe.
1:19 “...I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of GOD…sent…to shew thee…”
1:20 “...thou shalt…not be able to speak until the day…” You doubt GOD? Be silent 9 months!
Luke 1:23 “…as soon as…his ministration were accomplished, he departed…” Zach traveling after the Sabbath, June 20th, was almost 100, and had to go at least 30 miles to get home. Probably the 23rd.
1:24 “...Elisabeth conceived, and hid…five months...” Elisabeth may have conceived on June 24th, placing the date at November 24th. She hid, embarassed to be pregnant at 90! Zach couldn’t brag because he was dumb. Silly men.
Luke 1:26 “...in the sixth month…Gabriel was sent from God…unto…Nazareth,” 1 month later on December 24th, a 2nd Divine personal message, to yet another loved by GOD.
1:27 “To a virgin espoused to…Joseph…name was Mary.”
1:28 “...the angel…said…thou art highly favoured…blessed art thou...” You rock Girl!
Luke 1:31 “...thou shalt…bring forth a Son…His name JESUS.” GOD blessed you above all. GOD named Him.
1:33 “...He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever…His kingdom there shall be no end.” Jacob means all 12 tribes of Israel, [Christians] not just 1 tribe of Judah [Jews] currently in Judea, called “Israel” by the secular world.
This Holy event was foretold 630 years earlier in Scripture.
Isa. 7:14 “…LORD…shall give…a sign…a virgin shall…bear a son…His name…” ‘GOD with us’!
Luke 1:34 “…said Mary…”How…I know not a man?”.” I’m nervous, what will the neighbors say?
1:35 “...the power of the Highest…overshadow thee.” We got this covered.
1:36 “…Elisabeth…conceived…this is the sixth month…” Crash at your cousin’s, she has cable!
Mary conceived before her time [a young virgin], Elisabeth conceived after her time [at 90 yrs old].
Jer. 32:17 “…Lord God! behold, Thou…made…heaven and the earth…there is nothing too hard for Thee.”
Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
1:39 “And Mary arose…and went with haste into…Juda.” Next morning, December 25th, [dates change at sunset] she booked it outa’ there before the neighbors knew. She was innocent, but you know…people gonna’ talk… Phfftt!
1:40 “...entered into the house of Zacharias…saluted Elisabeth.” Yo’ Cuz! What’s up? Wait’ll you hear…
1:41 “...when Elisabeth heard…Mary, the babe leaped in her womb…Elisabeth…filled with the Holy Spirit…”
1:44 “…the voice of thy salutation sounded…the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” John was psyched!
‘John the Baptist’ [unborn and only 6 months since conception] leapt in Elisabeth’s womb, at the presence of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Who was only just conceived in Mary’s womb! Who wouldn’t leap for joy at His Presence?!
Luke 1:46 “...Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,”
1:48 “...all generations shall call me blessed.” She was Jesus’ mom!
Anything wrong with celebrating the birth of our Saviour on December 25th? Of course not! How about a tree, is that OK? Of course! We don’t worship the tree, GOD explains the symbolism;
Hos. 14:8 “…I am like a green fir tree. From Me is thy fruit found.” An evergreen represents His eternal Love.
Why do the leftists hate Christmas? Luke helps us understand. If they admitted GOD‘s word was true, they would have to admit life begins at the moment of conception, as GOD explained.
Roman law required people go to their birth city for a census once every 10 years. There wasn’t a Motel 6 and a Cracker Barrel every few miles, and Enterprize rent-a-donkey was years away. Mary already in her 9th month, couldn’t make a trip in Winter. Nazareth to Bethlehem was approximately 70 miles over rural roads.
GOD reveals a common sense explanation.
Luke 2:8 “there were…shepherds…in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.” Shepherds don’t camp out in the winter. Their flocks can’t scratch through snow and ice just to eat stubble. Everything’s harvested and stored in barns. But in the summer, they can protect the flocks, maybe see the Star of Bethlehem! At least 3 shepherds did exactly that. Our Lord & Saviour was likely conceived on December 25th and born on September 29th, the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles, then circumcised on the 8th day. A perfect human gestation is 280 days. Does it matter which date? Not for any that love Jesus 24/7/365. Choose teachers wisely, but believe GOD‘s word, it comes to pass exactly as written.
It also doesn’t hurt to teach children; “Your sister/brother is alive in Mommy’s belly but they’re not big enough to come out and see you just yet. Wait a little longer, OK?” Maybe they won’t agree to killing babies as adults.
Sundance often states, “Truth has no agenda“. Unstated, but understood, “…deception always does“.
2 Pet. 1:16 “...we have not followed cunningly devised fables…but were eyewitnesses…”
2:1 “…there shall be false teachers…and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”
Jer. 3:15 “I will give… pastors…which shall feed…knowledge and understanding.”
1 Cor. 14:33 “…God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…” Peace of mind is understanding GOD.
2 Tim. 3:15 “… from a child thou hast known…Scriptures…make thee wise…” Many know there is more to GOD‘s word than is commonly taught. Truth helps us explain the Christmas message to others.
Matt. 11:15 “He that has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Thank you.
Morning Garrison!
Mornin’ Gramps! 🙂
I don’t watch South Park anymore, but I am glad the creators made Harry and the tart in the Terrance and Philip style. It fits.
Now that’s funny. They are so hollyweird.
Sums it up!
Clapping enthusiastically.
Bwahhhh haaaa!!!
😁😁😁😁😁
you did, beautifully
Makes perfect sense. Their misinformation must dominate. Our truth must be squelched.
Happy Caterday Treeper friends. Pet your kitties for me! 🙂
Good morning, Garrison😘 Please give little Tink some extra loving from her Auntie Bet (in absentia) 😊
Mornin’ Bet. 🙂 Will do. Little Tink’ has decided that she can do a better job of waking me up than my alarm. At daybreak she jumps on my shoulder (I sleep on my side) just to let me know she’s there. Then she snuggles under my chin, purrs loudly until I give her a morning pet and chin scratch. Then she jumps down and heads into the kitchen expecting me to immediately follow. And if I don’t, she comes back and repeats her morning drill . . . Darlin’ kitty.
You’ve painted a picture that I have firmly in my head now…I am loving it! And the broad smiles that it has brought with it. Bless her sweet little kitty heart.💕💕💕
And yours, my friend😊
Awww, shucks—scuffing toe in dirt . . . 🙂
And I can hear her purring way up here😍😊

Hope so 🙂
What is the THC to CBD ratio of that dressing??
This is perfect.

Italian explorer and navigator who discovered the “New World” for Spain and initiated European colonization, dies around the age of 54
I would post a video but most are …… controversial.
You do not know a thing about him. Too many money at stake. Not any video but legal writings centuries old.
In every place, street or monument in Spain or its former colonies he is called by Cristóbal Colón. Full Stop. He was not from Genoa.
Thanks for proving my point about controversial, good thing I decided against it.

Good Morning all!
As I write this the “global temperature” is 57.52 deg. F
The last EF-5 tornado recorded was 1o years ago today. It cut through central Oklahoma on the ground from New Castle to Moore on the southside of Oklahoma City. Killed 24, injured 207 and did about 2 Billion dollars in damage.
Dallas to Little Rock are in the most convective zone today. Also Odessa and Midland. Best result would be plenty of rain without any violent weather because typically during El Nino conditions it gets hot and dry in the Texas and the SW US. Fair chance central Texas will see some heavy rains over the next few days.
Now I’m going back to bed to get some mores shut eye.
Good morning Rob!
Oklahoma will never forget the Moore tornado. If reporting is correct, this still remains the last EF5 tornado today. Peak winds were clocked at 210 mph, stayed on the ground for 39 minutes, traveled 17 miles and was over one mile wide.
Good morning. The F-5 before that one was Joplin, MO. May 22, 2011. It killed 161 and injured over 1,000 and to this day is the most costly tornado in US history doing 2.8 Billion dollars. It blew a hospital there off its foundation.
That was during an outbreak and I was driving I-70 W across Missouri headed for KC when it happened. Had to pull over in the rest area near Boone, MO due to hail and a tornado warming. Could hear a CD siren wailing. There were tornadoes reported on the ground in front and behind me. Never saw one, nor the damage from one. But I drove through some wind driven rain so strong that it penetrated the seal of my drivers side headlight bucket and shorted out that headlight.
I love storms, not tornadoes! I do watch in awe when I see one, how it forms, how it has so much force. Amazing! All storms to me, are awesome. Nature literally unleashes in so many ways at once. If tornadoes were to stop I would not mourn their absence, only because of the loss on humanity. To personally know people hit by a tornado you see how quick and devastating they can change lives forever. Literally in a few seconds.
Something else. When I first moved to Oklahoma there were areas that were designated “tornado ally” you avoided building there because tornadoes were so frequent and the citizens were all informed about lives lost, and property. Of course insurance played a part in this. Now, they ignore the dangers and build over and over on these areas. Tornadoes follow certain terrain and ground formations, it’s predictable. And the craziest thing is, I see trailer parks in these areas. They pop up quickly and often get visited by tornadoes. I’m Wondering how long until the new homeless get their tents twisted, Oklahoma isn’t homeless friendly, there is a reason why they congregate under the underpasses.
I picked up some dirt from the Kentucky Derby track as a souvenier. Husband said it wasn’t dirt.
…….if it ain’t it will be!
Leave it out in the sun for a few months– it’ll be good dirt for your garden.

For he himself is our peace. – Ephesians 2:14
The simplest and most heartfelt prayer you may ever pray is when you are beyond words and you merely whisper the name of Jesus. Whether you speak it out of need, want, praise, love, or fear, His name brings His Spirit.
The work of Jesus on Earth continues today in the presence of the Holy Spirit of God. Inwardly when you speak His name, He will help you find, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). When your words have failed, His Spirit will speak for you.
“The Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26). And in times you are reaching out to others with the good news, Jesus’ name brings His revelation to seeking hearts.
Everything you need is wrapped up in the name of Jesus. He has conquered every enemy you will face in life. While the evil one comes to steal good things God has planned for you, trying to erode your faith and rob you of peace, the Lord has provided His power to you by merely breathing the name of Jesus.
It is literally speaking the word of God: “He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called ‘The Word of God’” (Revelation 19:13). You do not even have to speak loudly, God’s hearing is perfectly tuned to your voice. Pray for leaders in America to become aware of the beautiful name of Jesus Christ and to speak it today!

MORNING
Take heed unto thyself. I Tim. 4:16
Every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. I Cor. 9:25-27
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:11, 12
They that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal. 5:24, 25
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Rom. 8:14
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. I Tim. 4:15

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. John 20:16
Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name: thou art mine. Isa. 43:1
The sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name. And the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. John 10:3, 4
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Isa. 49:16
The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. II Tim. 2:19
We have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. Heb. 4:14
Thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial. And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment. And thou shalt set in it … four rows of stones. And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel…. and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD. Exo. 28:9, 12, 15, 17, 21, 30

Good morning Poyeema
THE REALM OF THE REAL
“In your patience possess ye your souls.” Luke xxi. 19
When a man is born again, there is not the same robustness in his thinking or reasoning for a time as formerly. We have to make an expression of the new life, to form the mind of Christ. “Acquire your soul with patience.” Many of us prefer to stay at the threshold of the Christian life instead of going on to construct a soul in accordance with the new life God has put within. We fail because we are ignorant of the way we are made, we put thing down to the devil instead of our own undisciplined natures. Think what we can be when we are roused!
There are certain things we must not pray about – moods, for instance. Moods never go by praying, moods go by kicking. A mood nearly always has its seat in the physical condition, not in the moral. It is a continual effort not to listen to the moods which arise from a physical condition, never submit to them for a second. We have to take ourselves by the scruff of the neck and shake ourselves, and we will find that we can do what we said we could not. The curse with most of us is that we WON’T. The Christian life is one of incarnate spiritual pluck.

Good morning my dear sweet friend.
Just got through reading
todays Oswald and I was thinking ,
wonder if Oswald had a nickname ?!!!
Maybe – Ossy
or Wally ?!!!
☘️
Todays Waldo is particulously meant for me.
Moods
Ya , I got em
Sometimes they gotta be plucked .
He is so on target with this and who else would have thought of it this way if you didn’t stop and read it ?!
You have to separate the two.
The spiritual and the physical.
☘️
Thank you stevie for this .
Listen , I checked out the thread late late last night when I got home.
I missed a good afternoon. What a nice day in the tree.

Good Blessed morning to you Molonlabe!!! 🤗 Moods can be a curse, especially to those of us in the ‘girl’ class. And OC nailed it…it’s a physical problem. Have had my fair share of them over the years. Ugh! But I’m here to say, they can be conquered…with the help of our Father in heaven. Thank God!
You always gladden our hearts with your posts and presence here on OT. And I did miss you yesterday since I had some time to just stop, enjoy the afternoon off of work, and share with my brothers and sisters here. But here you are now…and we’re so grateful!
I do hope that you have a very special day ~ 💝

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy Will be done,

One of my fifth great grandfathers was born in Wales. He was a Revolutionary War veteran.
I stood at his grave when I was 17, but I didn’t realize he was my ancestor. One of my best friends brought me there because he was HIS ancestor.
I had gone to church with my buddy for years at the time. We spent nights at each other’s home, and eventually, in the home of each other’s grandparents, never realizing we were kin!
My Mamaw had his last name but came from a different county in Eastern Kentucky. Several years ago I was able to connect the dots and figure out that indeed, my buddy and I had the same ancestor.
Lots of my ancestors came from Ireland, some from England and Scotland, some Wales.
I’ve often wondered if they were drawn to the Appalachians in part due to any similarities in appearance to their home countries.
That picture looks very much like areas around me on the edge of Eastern Kentucky going into the Bluegrass.
Very pretty.
Wish you could see verdant Wales sometime, Greg.
Before I took a touristy trip, little knowing it would alter the course of my life and that I would soon be living there, my vision of Wales was only what I’d seen in movies. Think the b/w movie with Bette Davis “The Corn is Green”, a most wonderful movie which remains of my favourites.
Coal mines and grey slag heaps.
How wrong as I was!
Americans speak of their journeys to Scotland, Ireland, England. But they never seem to consider visiting Wales…and that is unfortunate and their loss.
I hope one day you might see it. Loved your wonderful story.
Thanks Betsy!
😊👍🏻
Wonderful story Greg1
I do love the mountains and have been drawn to them all my life .
I love Celtic history and I love that part of Europe,
Wales , the Uk , Switzerland, Scotland.
I myself am not Irish ☘️
I am one half Italian
The other half
French /Lakota Indian.
Your a Great American
Greg1, nice to know ya
☘️🍀☘️
If I go back far enough, one of my ancestors was a knight who helped William The Conqueror take England in 1066.
And they came over from France.
Going through that lineage makes me a itty bitty bit French.
No Italian that I know of.
All but one branch of my family has been here since before the Revolution. The other family, as best we currently know, came shortly after.
I look at that as pretty much all AMERICAN.
I’ll take that compliment about being a great American and return it right back atcha!
You’re a Great American and it’s nice to know you too!
P.S. I went to middle and high school with a guy who was Italian and looked like Scott Baio.
Dude dated Junior Miss Ohio. Played basketball, football and soccer, sang in a school rock band, drove a 1969 Camaro SS convertible in 1984……..and was the nicest guy in the world. Could have been arrogant but was not.
Gotta be something to that being Italian business.
Let’s go there! With Betsy as our tour guide. I’m in. Let’s do it. Grab the passports.
I’m in!!!!😁

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

A homesickness for a home to which one cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the places and people of one’s past.
Yes, it is that beautiful.
Thank you, sweet thoughtful molon 💕🍀

My Welsh ancestors immediately flocked to the granite hills of Virginia bypassing much more arable and valuable land. Possibly its a Celtic thing but some peoples seem drawn to the mountains and the lonely and the beautiful.
Good morning Betsy.
Good morning all.
And a very good morning to you, monticello💕
Yes, I believe you are right about what made them settle where they did. Shades of the home they left. I can absolutely understand it, and more so because Wales is the home of my heart and always will be. I get an ache when I remember….
Good morning monti! This Mountain Man loves the Texas Hill Country.
Good Morning GrandpaM

These are so lovely, dear molon🍀💕
Do you ever ask yourself why am I here now? Not some other period in time?
There is a purpose in the reason for being here now.
God is more amazing than ever imaginable!
Reminds me of the guy that filled in for rush (either the guy from PA or the guy from portland) used to always say “this is the day the Lord has made, and the time in which He’s chosen for me to live”.
Phflipper,
You are so right on. I had much hand wringing before until I stopped and looked at it all from a different perspective. Did God really find us so worthy to have us present in a time such as this? A time when He surely would make His Full Presence known?
Waiting in anticipation and keeping my eyes on the clouds…
Happy “cartoons and cereal day” everyone. Thoughts of levi…
have a blessed saturday.
Good morning Cobra!!! 🤗
Hi juststevie 🙂
To Levi!!!
Tom & Jerry | Concert Madness
Tom & Jerry were created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Geniuses.
This piano concert is one masterpiece of them.
These authors didn’t need monsters nor abnormal characters.

Finding Food in the Snow Storm
From Mark Steyn’s best selling album from long ago…don’t know why I found this incredibly catchy 😎
“I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat”
Well, we have this wonderful selection of the best cartoons ever…but no cereal.
Let’s fix that, shall we? 😊
Betsy jones: Hah! That’s exactly what I did, back in the 60s and 70s. Read cereal boxes. I would also consume an entire box, after school, while doing homework at the kitchen table. Ever since then, I read everything I can get my hands on. I never stop reading.
They used to put such interesting bits on those boxes, bill. I did as well.
And the “prizes” inside! Couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of the box…or pretty close anyway… to get it out.
You’ll appreciate this I think…
🤣
👍👍
Smart parent!
I’ll say!!! I’m applauding him now. Whatever works👍🏻
I still have, somewhere, one or two of the Archie records cut from the back of cereal boxes…
I remember those!!
I’d like to ask for anyone to add other names of previous treepers…
I think of the others who have come and gone, but I cant necessarily remember their ‘handle’.
Like there was that person who posted daily of “national ___ day” (i.e. banana split day, or margarita day). Haven’t seen them in quite a while.
Also our daily prayer posters who have been silent a while (some said they were taking a break)
Also, has anyone seen ‘conspiracy reality’ lately?
Feel free to add names.
I just want to have a “we’re thinking of you” for all of them. I wish I could think of their names, but I remember their posts.
SC, I am right here, just added the “social validation feedback loop” a while back! You corrected my wrongthink on how to deal with that nasty feral tomcat!
OMG I didnt realize you were “you”!!! That is great! So glad you’re still here!
I noticed your posts had ‘flare’, and now it all makes sense!!! 🙂
I even remember saying to you (about your feral) “I dont know where you are in the world” and all along you were right there! (in FL)!
It took me a minute, too, Slowcobra, but no more than that for CR. I was overjoyed to see him💕
That’s a great idea cobe.
You have such a good heart friend. To me , that is obvious.
Good morning to you .

I always loved Whistling Past’s posts. I especially love the handle.
Quite the name, I agree. Always looked for his posts every day, then one day they weren’t there. I do pray he is all right, JWoo.
Lucille, who gave us Bench Monday.
In her honour, Mr jay has picked up the baton and we have them once again after a long time not.

And Mungrel, and Leenie.
And Solomon…. Miss them all, G. 💔
and amwick .. although i do see her post in other threads, rarely.. i think of those ladies almost every time i come to this thread. i absolutely miss them ♥️
Also, thanks for wondering about me! Have a great Caturday, I will celebrate this one away from the house! For the past several weeks I have been tending one newly “fixed” cat after another after having to get Jinx patched up on 2 separate occasions! Most of my free time has been spent as a feline nursemaid that wasn’t spent annoying the good folks here with my weak attempts at humor! 😉
Good morning CR ~ never, ever stop ‘annoying’ us with your humor! It’s dry…and I love it! You’ve made me laugh out loud (LOL) on more than one occasion! 😁 Blessings for your day!
Thanks ,stevie!
Sounds like you’ve got your hands full! I can appreciate the time and care involved. I hope they’re all doing well (or getting better).
I was puzzled for only a minute, CR. I’d never seen you on this thread, only on the others where we had so many lovely back and tos.
It was only when I saw your initials after the handle that all the pieces fit. Can’t tell you what a lift it gave me to know you’d migrated here. 😘🌻
As for the rest your post, bring what ya got!! We do! We’re family, doncha know🤗😉
I miss the storytelling of Texian.
And our friend Kathy, who’s not so great with the English language, but the way she turns a phrase is downright lyrical, unlike most of us who were born and raised in English.
Yes!!!!!!!! He told amazing stories. He disappeared for a while, then reappeared. He painted some truly vivid pictures of his life as a diver decades ago.
I miss Texian and his wonderful stories of his younger life.

I am constantly getting tweets from the RNC. I gave $100.00 a month to Trump in 2002-3 for a total of $1,200. Since McCarthy became Speaker they have been bombarding me with text and mail “surveys” etc, all aimed at getting me to donate.
It ain’t happening. The last one this week said “Dear friend, what can we do to earn back you loyalty”! If they don’t know the answer by now, then they never will! The answer is FIGHT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND TO UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION AND THE LAWS OF THE LAND! It is that simple. And if they were actually going to do that then they would be supporting Trump instead of doing what they are doing. I have no doubt that a portion of whatever revenue they will bring in will be used against Trump in one way or another.
If they were fighting for what I believe in, then Biden, Wray, and Mayorkas would have already have been impeached.
Save your money Rob
It ain’t about the money anyhow.
It’s about stealing the vote.
These scumbags raise millions and billions and it doesn’t effect much , they just line their scummy pockets with it.
Trumps different, so I think your efforts were worth it.
But like I said , it’s not about money anymore.
Look at the crazy amounts being raised.
Nothing like it in history.
Politics is totally out of control.
Your a good man Rob.
Keep your money in your pockets

If they were fighting for what WE believe in ????? , IMPEACHMENT!! What the H_LL good is that? They should all be swinging from the gallows, period!
Saw Travis Tritt in concert at the Indiana State Fair last year. He was terrific. What an amazing Patriot. Love that guy!
Rah, I also get a crap load of emails from the RNC which I promptly delete.

Good morning Treepers. Ouachita Mountains. Range extends from southeastern Oklahoma to western Arkansas.
Western Virginia or Northern Tennessee??
Southeastern Oklahoma and part of western Arkansas.
Whoa! Amazing the southern Ozarks look like the Appalachians! Good country in that corner of OK.
Morning, Joe! Truly breathtaking.
Good morning Joe! My favorite place to go in this range is Winding Stair!
Good morning, stevie. What a view. Very scenic. Hey, did you get some rain yesterday? We got soaked here in my area.
Hi JustStevie, that is breathtakingly beautiful. One thing missing in our Central Indiana – beautiful vantage points such as these. I miss the mountains, the coasts, but I try to remember that this place has afforded us great opportunities too.
Wow Joe .
thats in Oklahoma
thanks for this .
America isbeautifull
Oklahoma is sure pretty. Thank you for the magnificent pics, Joe 12 pack. Hope you and the Mrs. are doing well.
No urban cowboys in these photos.

When men were what they have always been.
Good morning Bet. “Wild Bill” Hickock’s bio is an interesting read. Supposedly he had glaucoma which affected his vision in his later years. He and Annie Oakley were very proficient with firearms; the average cowboy was not. Most of the cowboys did not own their own firearms.
A lot of the cowboys were Civil War vets who migrated to the frontier territories; some were fairly young. Most were illiterate. Average pay for a working cowboy was about $25 a month. Trail bosses and cooks made a little more money. Bunkhouses were not exactly the most sanitary places for cow hands to sleep in. Sleeping outdoors was probably more preferable than staying in those buildings for any amount of time.
Hollywood tv shows and movies do not show what a cowhand’s life was really like during those time IMO.
Think what $25 could buy then, Joe. Yes, movies did rather sanitize the conditions. But they survived. I suspect good immune systems played their part. Those plus no Big Pharma…
Oh yeah
These are real cool pictures
Joe.
I’ll be enjoying them for sure during my multiple walkthroughs of the thread. Always a pleasure !
Thanks friend.

Good morning Molon. These old photos are amazing in my opinion. I’ve always wondered what it was like to be alive during those times. Life was not easy for those who lived on the frontier, but they survived. And some prospered.

The huge pile of brush was finally picked up from the curb area in my front yard yesterday. I raked up some of the smaller twigs and debris that were left behind so now I have a small pile of stuff near the curb. A large patch of grass that had grown underneath all that brush was bugging me, so I took the lawnmower and mowed that area. Front yard looks much better.
Went to 3 different stores (Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, and Atwoods) to see if they had a small air filter for my lawn mower. Filter that I needed not in stock. Arrrgh. I cleaned the old one a few days ago and put it back in the mower; the mower runs ok. But I wanted to replace it.
Trying to find a store employee to help me was like pulling teeth. Shopping for stuff is not my favorite thing to do anymore.
Joe, you sound like my husband. Exactly like him. Make do and mend…or if the mend can’t be done, he will make something himself that is better than what can be bought these days. Skills he learned from his dad in post war Britain when everything was scarce to nonexistent.
His experiences in this country with those who work in the places you mentioned is the same as yours.
As is discovering that the part he needs is the only one they do not have.
How his blood pressure remains normal is a mystery.
Did these guys actually do any work on their ranch property? Or did they just go to town, drink, get into fights, and smile for the camera?

BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Good morning Duchess
Gotta say
In a big way
First Corinthians helped get me clean and sober.
Just kept thinking of what I was putting in me and how much it meant to The Lord.
I think without passages like these I wouldn’t have made it.
I’m still “making it”
It’s a daily battle and it’s with the help , even though you, you might not know your giving it but it’s getting me through each day.
One at a time !!!
Thank you my sweet sweet friend ( friends)

Morning, MO!!! God said He would never leave or abandon us – I believe that in my heart!!!
We have all hit rock bottom at some point in our lives – we might even think we do not want to be here any longer – we might hate ourselves and/or blame others for our circumstances – BUT GOD is still waiting with open arms to welcome us home!!! He wants that none perish!!!
I do not know where you have been or why you ended up there – but I can tell you – like Job – I lost everything I loved in this world in one day!!! And like Job – I did not blame God!!!
Oh, yes – I cried buckets of tears – but that was not going to change a thing – my faith in God would… I continued to believe God could/would fix it all – and return things back to normal – but that was not to be.
I was lonely – but I could not tell anyone why – God was with me – although there were times when I wondered if He even cared – after all – it wasn’t his fault I ended up in the dumps – it was mine!!!
And that was hard to admit – oh sure – others were not without fault – but I cannot change others – I can only change me – how I react – how I feel toward the others involved – I must not hate – hatred would hurt me more than them – and if I blamed God – I would end up in deep tapioca!!!
Taking things out on oneself is a very bad idea – but we all do it – we lash out and do stupid things – no matter – God will forgive our stupidity and our foibles – and take us back!!! 😄
The best part is – He will restore us – mind, body, and soul – in the most incredible ways!!!
Ok – I will stop babbling now – Hope and Pray that – in some sweet way – my confession comforts you1!!
Bet is correct – WE ARE NOT ALONE!!! God is with us – and the best part? He sends others to let us know!!!
Have a Blessed and Fruitful Day, Dear Bro!!! 💙🧚🏻♀️💙🧚🏻♀️💙
Duchess and molon, it is no wonder to me that both of you give so much of yourselves to us and others. I believe that Almighty God does His best work in those who have reached the nadir of their earthly lives. Those who have known times such as you both describe and who have been rebuilt from the ground up by His hand, His mercies and grace…and who understand others in their worst moments.
I love both of you. Your forthright stories tell us as nothing else can that when we may think He is nowhere to be found, He is actually standing right beside us. Bless you, my dearest friends, for showing in your lives just how certain this is. May those who pass this way who need to know it is so by your words believe it.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕💕💕
Thanks, Bet!!! Hopefully, our testimonies will encourage others not to quit on God!!!
Many people blame God for what happens in their lives and forget He gave them Free Choice!!!
We chose to take the wrong road – we make bad choices – because we are human and err.
A case in point – what the anti-life advocates forget – “IT’S NOT A CHOICE – IT IS A CHILD”
They have already made their choice!!!
If anyone is in doubt of the power of the believer – Read the Book of Job!!!
It is the ultimate choice – no matter what happens. – good or bad – Trust God!!!
Thank you, Bet, for acknowledging what was painful for both of us to share!!!
God Bless You Real Good for shining Light so that all may see!!!
💖 🧚🏻♀️ 💖 🧚🏻♀️ 💖
Testimonies are invaluable, duchess.
One thing we will never know is how many passers by wander through this branch on any given day. I suspect the number would surprise us all.
I am so glad you chose to place the story of your journey here today. I suspect it will speak volumes to many who are where you and molon were once. So that that most precious of things we should never lose… hope…doesn’t die for those who truly need so much of it but perhaps see it ebbing away.
Yes, choices. Ours. A choice whether to knock on that door. Or if one hears Someone knocking, whether to answer…
I know it was painful, dearest friend. Suspect I understand what it took for you both to share. God bless you and molon for doing so.🙏🏻💕
Please don’t ever stop babbling, duchess01.
So many tears.
Sometimes I think we have to lose it all… to truly gain.
Was covering some of my history with my girl today – she has so many boys chasing her. She has “daddy” issues and these boys’ attention makes her most vulnerable.
I often believe that I am paying the price now for my sins of the past. Hoping, in some way, that my sharing these things with my daughter most candidly will prevent her from taking the same paths I took. Though I know in my heart, she will travel her own path.
God doesn’t let anything in our lives go to waste. Romans 8:28 “All things work for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His Purpose.”
What a frightful sight we can be while in His Refining Fire. Boy, howdy, do I know what an organized mess I am.
Bless you, sweet duchess01. God bless you as you would say “real good”!
JWoo, I firmly believe you couldn’t be the mother Savannah needs now unless you lived your life as it happened. God knows what He is doing with each of us. And that’s all I’ll say.😘
Molonlabe,
You are such an amazing and gentle Spirit. I am so glad you are clean and sober and mindful of how very important your physical health is to The Lord Who indwells in you by His Holy Spirit.
I know it is hard to wrestle with, especially in stressful times, but your humility in sharing those struggles is empowering. To yourself and to others who might not openly admit such struggles.
One day at a time is right on.
Whether struggling against substances, or weakness, or uncertainty, or loneliness, or abandonment, or full-on breakdowns in faith and humanity – we are all wrestling. None of us is perfection. Thus, our striving towards God to sustain us.
I pray the absolute best for you, brother. And to our sisters and brothers here on the Tree.
My dear friend. You have no idea how much I admire you for your courage and resolve in tackling something which nearly destroyed my son.I know what it takes to do so.
With him, on the night of his 21st birthday on a rural lane in East Texas, he totaled his car. He was the only one on the road thankfully. He managed to crawl out of it unscathed. He, by rights, shouldn’t have. There is no question in my mind, or his, his guardian angel was wearing armour that evening.
There’s a reason, I still feel, you were guided to make your first comment here and climb onto your branch…..just a little food for thought…🙏🏻🍀
Good morning Duchess…thank you for this last picture verse….absolutely love it!
Morning, Stevie!!! Most welcome – just so you know – that one came from God!!!
Why? Because He loves you so much He wanted to touch your heart – through His Word!!!
Have a Blessed and Relaxing Day!!! You earned it!!! 💖🧚🏻♀️💖🧚🏻♀️💖
Good morning dear sis😘

Good nourishment to you friend . We will be here
☘️🍀
Amen to that.
God’s Garden
“The Lord God planted a garden
In the first white days of the world,
And He set there an angel warden
In a garment of light unfurled.
So near to the peace of Heaven,
That the hawk might rest with the wren,
For there in the cool of the even
God walked with the first of men.
And I dream that these garden-closes
With their shade and their sun-flecked sod
And their lilies and bowers of roses,
Were laid by the hand of God.
The kind as of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,- –
One is nearer to God’s heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.
For He broke it for us in a garden
Under the olive-trees
Where the angel of strength was the warden
And the soul of the earth found ease.”
~Dorothy Frances Gurney~
Stevie, I bet when she wrote this she was in her garden 🌻
I’m certain you will find Him in yours, just as she did in hers😊
LOVE THIS, STEVIE!!! Wish I could go with you – but alas – it is raining here1!! ENJOY!!! 🪴🌹🌼
I so love this. Again, somehow want to find a way to download these and mount them on our walls. This is a really good one.

Doubt you did anything wrong, Bessie. It has happened to me a few times.
The uncommitted, “not paying much attention voters” passed out in a commie-coup-induced-utopia in 2021 and woke up in 2023 with a HUGE “100 proof” bi-den hangover and are they ever bitter.
Every day is “Hell day in America” for them.
To start their recovery process, it is recommended that they read the, just published, work by Mr. Durham, the “Coup Cliffsnotes for Dummies.” The truth is the best medicine.
And, for long term benefits, vote for President Trump in 2024.
Well the kids are gone and so is my old 1998 3/4 ton Chevy pickup truck. New battery, new tires, new control arms, new front shocks, new brakes including disks and rotors in front and drums and shoes in back, and new wheel cylinders all the way around. New wiper blades, Oil and filter change, rear window taken out and then weather stripping cleaned and then reinstalled with 3M window weld. New brake switch and wiring harness with plug for it. Exhaust manifold flange on passenger side repaired and so exhaust system is intact. All upholstery and carpet shampooed and all other internal surfaces cleaned. New floor mats. New handle for hood release installed. New hinges and cables for the tailgate installed. So far I put a little over $2,000 in it and they put $2,000 in it.
Now they are taking it to Corbin’s dads house. There they will put new guts for the tailgate latches in it. Install new drivers side door handle inside and out. Tune it with new plugs and timing belt. Grease the new tailgate hinges. And track down a leak in the A/C system and charge it.
It only had 138.738 miles on it and the Vortec engine (probably the best engine GM ever made), and with all we have put into it, I figure they will get a lot of use out of it.
A very generous gift–doing a front to back fixit. You’re a good man RAH. Finally hitting the car interior after lunch, way overdue, wondering what surprises the dog hammock has, expecting several missing balls. Have a great day.
I was just giving it to them to sell it for parts, but they had different ideas. Said they would fix it up and use it. Once I saw just how much they were getting into, I couldn’t make those kids pay for all of it. So I paid for the stuff they couldn’t do themselves, fixing front end suspension, the exhaust manifold, and the brake switch, and I bought some of the parts for them they needed.
They really have done a whole lot of the work though.
Her Dad has been paying her college tuition and helping them with other things and today is helping them with the other stuff their doing on the truck. Her Mom has cancer. Corbin has worked multiple jobs while going to school to help make ends meet and now has a BS in Psychology. Her soldier husband is in the process of getting out with full disability because of a serious back injury. The both have jobs lined up when they get out. Corbin intends to continue her education and get her Masters while working. Her husband Jason is also working on his BA.
So they have been working hard to make their own way, and I don’t mind helping them since they have been working hard to make something of themselves.
rah,
along these few years, I know that you know how to treat (care of) machines. They are machines, they are not living beings.
For you, and for most of us who read you, that is as simple as breath or have a coffee. God has blessed you for having those skills.
Actually the kids do almost all of their own work. I paid Belle Tire to do the front suspension, Wrights Electric to put in the brake switch and plug, and Dave Short at Shorts machine shop to rebuild the flange on the exhaust manifold and to hook it into the exhaust.
I actually have the skills to do some of that stuff and used to do it. But now days it does not give me much satisfaction and I can afford to pay for it to be done.
God granted me the brain and physical ability to do those things, but I earned the knowledge to do them.
I think Anthony Bernardi needs a slap…volunteers??
One slap would not get the job done.
It would require slapping the stupid out of him, and that’s clearly a whole lotta slappin’.
I get up at 2:50AM during the work week.
I guess work is “racist” now, too.
And the cat expects food to hit her bowl by 3AM no matter WHAT day it is.
The people that strive to find or *CREATE* “racism” in literally everything need to spend some quality time with an OLD SCHOOL Drill Sgt, it would give them some insight into life they will clearly never get otherwise.
These people are WEAK.
And they are something else, too, Greg. I can normally come up with the right word, but the madness seems to have infected millions. And I can’t.
I agree. A stint in the military with a drill Sgt would bring a dose of reality to them all right. But the US military is not that place. They have gone as mad as poor Anthony above. Not at aol sure there is a cure for any of it. Alas…
I don’t believe our current military could fix them.
Old school, yes.
The solution to their problem is HARD TIMES, with no way to get out of the hard times but HARD WORK.
No whining.
No complaining.
No getting recognition for their whining and complaining.
I don’t even know who first wrote the following words, but this is accurate:
“Strong men create good times.
Good times create weak men.
Weak men create hard times.
Hard times create strong men.”
Liberals despise that quote but it’s practically the circle of life.
Wokeness is weakness.
And weakness comes with a PRICE.
Be strong!
