For Christmas in 1992, I was gifted the most high output battery powered remote control dune buggy on the market. I couldn’t wait to take it outside to test it out it on the snowy drive way. I charged the battery pack for nearly 6 hours as my brother and sister were having a great time with their gifts. Finally I got it outside and it worked for about 3 minutes. I never forgot that feeling. I am reminded of that day every single time I hear a peep about glorified golf carts identifying as road cars.
Hidden in this move are the quiet plans to remove the AM bands from commercial broadcast radio station use. Why would automakers remove AM radio from new vehicles if they were not privy to the plans of government to shut down commercial AM radio? The lame excuse being presented of “interference with AM frequencies by engines” is absurd since there have been electronic filters to prevent that for more than 100 years.
Not content with control of the printed news, the Internet, colleges, public education, federal agencies and television, the Left wants to completely shut off ANY alternative points of view to their complete Marxist takeover.
AM radio is where the bulk of conservative talk radio resides. Rush Limbaugh saved commercial radio on the AM band with his talk show success.
AM radio is broadcast at a much lower frequency range than FM. At night, AM radio has a huge reach because of its lower frequencies. For example, WSM, (650 AM) the Voice of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, can be heard at night across half of the U.S. because of its clear channel transmitting power of 100,000 watts. Talk radio on AM at night has had a lot of power to reach the American people.
The FCC controls radio frequencies and can revoke use of those frequencies “in the public interest.”

We have a 2014 Ford Explorer. Great car but the AM radio operates as if there is no antenna attached.
Maybe it’s not? Is the radio properly grounded? Are you using resistor plugs? I don’t know what your car’s antenna end looks like where it plugs into the radio. I have seen older car antenna ends that had been damaged and needed to be cleaned up. You have mice chewing on the antenna wire?

Very technical but also very readable. AI is here to stay, so folks on our portion of the political spectrum need to be as smart about this stuff as the bad guys. So if you are an IT person (or are becoming one), Read The Whole Thing.
You should bear in mind that “AI is not magic.” It’s not really “intelligence” at all. The term refers loosely to a class of several self-adaptive algorithms which are built by “training.” Like all other less-novel forms of “programming,” they depend entirely upon that training source, which necessarily will be “biased” in some way in order to produce outcomes that the trainer feels to be “correct.”
It is a novel and useful class of algorithms which are good at certain situations where conventional “procedural programming” approaches are less suited. But, it is not magic and it is not intelligent. In function, it is essentially an advanced form of pattern-matching.
About 20 years ago, some inventors were trying to get a company I worked for to produce a device to blast pulses of neutrons for use in interrogating airplane luggage for drugs and explosives. The neutrons were to bounce off of C, N and O nuclei and the return flight time was to be long enough to separate the neutrons based off of which nuclei they bounced off of.
They had trained their processors to identify drugs vs explosives vs normal clothes. Without the training it was useless. But, prolonged use caused the judgement to lose accuracy.

I’ve seen lots of alternate proposals for security purposes. No idea what has been made workable and implemented. Just the idea of having one machine test 600 pieces of luggage an hour seemed daunting to me. That’s six seconds to load, test, approve or warn and direct accordingly when unloading. It is also daunting to consider that is about one large airplane per hour. That is a lot of devices that need installing.
