Have you ever folded a nice neat pile of laundry, only to leave the room and come back to find a couple of keeters have decided set up shop on top of your handiwork?
Of course they occupy the warm, soft, and fresh laundry. But they also occupy the cold hard keyboard. What the photo is missing is the context, or should I say the contents of the closed pizza boxes.
Full and warm and they are preventing dinner? (feed us first)
Half full, room temp, and they are interfering with seconds? (we want attention)
Empty, cold, and they are asking you to let them fit? (This could be true in all cases.)

…but I have come into a kitchen to check on a cheesecake…the most perfect one I ever made by the way…and found an insouciant furry taste tester licking his chops after having eaten his way through the sour cream topping.

Several years ago I was awakened by some horrifying screams that sounded like they came from inside the house; just before dawn.
I got onto the floor… confused…. wondering,
was it a dream?
As the screams continued
I crawled to a window in the direction the screams came from, but couldn’t see anything in the darkness.
Stepped out on the back porch as dawn was breaking; looking intently to see what was happening.
Suddenly, the sound of something moving came from just below, so I looked down and saw a four-legged, tailed, glowing-eyes creature looking up at me.
Yikes!
Got back in the house faster than a hummingbird
and closed the door.

That’s a big litter! Pretty sure they wouldn’t all make it in the wild. Based on the oak leaves and fall colors of the other leaves in the picture and the apparent excellent conditions of all the cubs, I would bet that picture was taken of captive animals.

I am making a “pork tenderloin Wellington” from Alton Brown’s vivid imagination, which is the tenderloin slit in half filled with dried apples and fresh thyme, encased in slices of prosciutto then wrapped in a store bought pie crust which is slathered on the inside with whole grain mustard. A bit of egg wash seals everything up!!

It will be. It is a long time favorite and works great when one has several guests to feed. I’ve a combination of paddle skewers and long “V” skewers that I use and since grilling time is relatively short I can pump out fair number of kabobs on my 4 burner IR grill. To cut cooking time I block the lid just high enough it clears the skewers so I can close the lid.

I love eclairs!!! The first one I had after moving across the pond, I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into.
But when I did, I discovered that the filling wasn’t a French custard…it was plain ole flavourless whipped cream. What a disappointment!! Even their biscuits (cookies in Britspeak) seemed woefully short on sugar.
As time moved on, however, I came to really enjoy them, even preferring them to the calorific (is that a word?) ones I was used to.
And so when I moved back to the US, all sweet baked goods were just waaaaaaaaay to sweet for me. To my taste, I might as well swallowed an entire sugar bowl…blech!

I have always loved Emmlou’s music and a lot of her music is her own rendition of music that was done by other artists but she put her style into it. I think she enhanced it a lot.

That’s what got me in trouble in early March. Although behind a locked gate and fence, my study is separate from my house. Naively, I was accustomed to leaving the back door to my house open. An intruder, climbed over by back fence, observed me in my study, and then entered my house through my usually unlocked back door. Lesson learned.
I remember well…which is why I mentioned them, keeping in mind your experience. It could have been worse, dearest friend…glad you fixed the problem.

Paul’s 2nd letter to Christians living in Thessalonica, Macedonia; [ 52/53 A.D. ]
2 Thes. 2:1 “...we beseech you, by the coming of our Lord…and…gathering…unto Him.” Subject: The gathering of Christians to Christ. When will that occur? How will we know the time has arrived?
2:2 “…be not…shaken…by word…nor by letter as from us…” Object: Don’t let anything confuse this topic [of gathering to Jesus], not even the first letter we wrote. Why was Paul concerned his 1st letter caused confusion? He had long been a student of Scripture and knew what was written.
Jesus chose Paul to teach His message:
Acts 9:15 “…he is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name…” A ‘vessel’ full of knowledge.
GOD foretold over 500 years earlier, confusion would arise on this very subject:
All of Ezekiel 13 is against false teachers.
Ezek. 13:1 “…the word of the LORD…” [ 483 B.C.]
13:2 “…prophesy against…that prophesy out of their own hearts…”
13:7 “Have ye not seen a vain vision…a lying divination…albeit I have not spoken?’
13:20 “...I am against…ye hunt…souls to make them fly…” GOD knew of the future rapture lies.

Paul continues clarifying his 1st letter via his 2nd letter:
2 Thes. 2:3 “Let no man deceive you…that day shall not come, except…be revealed, the son of perdition.” ‘Perdition’ means destined to damnation. The only entity already judged and named is Satan. Object: We will not gather to Jesus until Satan has been revealed, meaning everyone alive [the whole world] knows who and where he is.
2:4 “Who…exhalteth himself above…God…sitteth in the Temple…” Paul identifies Satan as he who calls himself GOD, in the Temple in Jerusalem. No one is ‘flying away’ before. Most want to fly away with Satan, since he endorses a rapture.
Hos. 12:10 “I have spoken by the prophets…and used similitudes…” Father aids us in visualizing His thoughts.
Paul made his Divinely inspired words clear in another letter.
Heb. 12:1 “…we…are…with so great a cloud of witnesses…” ‘cloud’ = a throng, of great number. He describes people who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and our joining those believers who passed on before us. Matthew, Mark, & Luke all recorded Jesus’ explanation of similitudes. [e.g.]
Mat. 13:13 “...I speak to them in parables: because…hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.”
Rev. 13:11 “...I beheld another…”
13:13 “...he doeth great wonders…maketh fire come down…in the sight of men.”
13:16 “…he causeth all…to receive a mark…in their foreheads.”
13:18 “Here is wisdom…his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” [666]
Who wouldn’t know who that is? Yet when we read a very similar thought ‘pictured’ for us;
Rev. 22:4 “...they shall see His face…His name…in their foreheads.” No one believes we need a tattoo or microchip to confirm our Christianity. What’s in ones forehead? A brain, hopefully GOD‘s words of truth. Those who take the time to learn, know to wait for Jesus the True Christ, and not accept the 1st christ Satan, aka antichrist. Paul tried to make things clear in his first letter, he even tried to explain it in a 2nd letter.
1 Cor. 3:1 “…I…could not speak unto you…but as unto babes…”
3:2 “I have fed you with milk…not with meat…ye were not able to bear it...” Getting deep into GOD‘s word is more than many can handle. Bringing them along slowly allows them to catch up if they so choose.
Helping even one, could be the greatest thing we ever do for GOD.
Mat. 18:12 “...if a man have an hundred sheep, and one…be gone astray...”
18:13 “…if…he find it…he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than…which went not astray.”
It is commonly taught the ‘mark of the beast’ is a tattoo, or even a chip placed under the skin. With so many falsely taught, they will easily fall prey to the deceptions of Satan’s rapture.
1 Pet. 4:17 “...judgment must begin at the house of God…” The ‘house of GOD‘ is where people go to learn GOD‘s Word. Judging begins with the ‘teachers’. Teach truth, reap rewards. If they mislead even 1 of GOD‘s children through deception? Well, we’ll let Father judge, we should just discern what and who we believe.
Zep. 3:8 “…wait ye upon Me, saith the Lord…all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.” GOD is jealous, even angry, that most will be deceived by false teachers and worship Satan instead of Jesus!
So, Who can we believe? Believe GOD, study His written word, and wait for Him.
Matt. 11:15 “He that has ears to hear, let him hear.”

She was a chain smoker. Who knew? The press is no damn good.
She represented the nation so wel… with elegance and grace toward everyone, unlike some of the more recent First Ladies
FDR and Truman did little to the White House decor during their terms and neither did Eisenhower. Ike was an avid golfer and saddled with a democrat majority in the congress, he couldn’t get much of his agenda through. So he had a green put in on the grounds and spent a fair amount of his time practicing chip shots and putting.
When Kennedy came in Jackie was appalled at the decorations and furniture and hated the holes in the floor that Ike had left with his golf shoes. So she went full bore in modernizing the decor including a bunch of new furniture. So much so that her husband started questioning her about the cost of what she was ordering and supervising.
Oh, and BTW, Ike was a chain smoker also.
Ike’s home is open for visitation and is very near the battleground at Gettysburg. He had a green put in there also. In home life his two great loves seemed to be golf and outside BBQ. Had guests over frequently to cook for them on the stone BBQ that is behind his house.
I personally don’t have any problem with what Ike did or did not do as POTUS. That man had gone through 4 years of hell. His burden of responsibility began long before he was named Supreme Commander and only got heavier as the war went on.
I don’t think any of us can imagine the heavy responsibilities, limitations, and frustrations he had to endure. A short work day was 18 hours. He took so few breaks to get away that Marshall and others were constantly on him to get away from it all for a few days.
Imagine having worked 20 hours and then as your head hits the pillow Winston Churchill calls and wants you to come over to discuss this or that he’s concerned about. It happened constantly while Ike was Supreme Commander because Winston had to be in the middle of any great enterprise and really doubted the cross channel invasion would work until shortly before the invasion and Churchill’s normal routine was to sleep late and then work late in to the night and the next morning!
Or having to deal with primidone’s like Monty, De Gaul, and Patton.
Nope, Ike deserved whatever rest and relaxation he could get!

I was a teenager and Mom and Dad were gone somewhere and I fixed a pizza for my brother and me.
The stunningly pretty Siamese cat we had KNEW better than to get on the table.
But he also knew that if something hit the floor it was HIS. Sorta like a dog.
I ate my pizza and stepped into another room and little brother left some pizza on his plate. I started to walk back into the room to clean dishes from the table.
I briefly saw three black dots by my brother’s plate. Took a moment to realize it was the tip of two ears and a nose as the cat sat in the chair plotting his pounce. Suddenly, the left hook (s) came and rapidly snatched the remaining pizza into the floor without breaking the “I can’t get on the table” rule, and the plate never moved. The cat pounced on the pepperonis.
He liked pepperonis.
His ancestry may have been Asian at some point, but he was an equal opportunity eater!

We might be getting rain throughout the day. Good thing I got the yards mowed yesterday. Was planning on getting the weed eater out sometime today, but that can wait until tomorrow or whenever. No rush. One of the benefits of retirement. No need to be outside at the moment.

I can imagine using a trail camera and maybe getting a curious squirrel in the pic, no wild squirrel will ever get that close to a human. But I also can’t imagine wild squirrels getting that close to each other. But who mounts dead squirrels?
A taxidermist in training? What great hunter would show off his squirrel collection?
I do remember Audy Murphy, the WWII MOH winner, bragged about his youthful squirrel hunting before the war, but I think that was to put food on the table.
I find it interesting when watching Audie Murphy flicks to watch how he moves in combat situations. Especially in To Hell and Back.
He was a natural.

Material things are needed to live this life, but they are not the most important. The fruits of the newness of life, the Spirit of Christ, begin to grow within you: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Many issues trouble the United States. It is tempting to focus on those problems and become vexed over the things that try to stand against the freedom to be who you are in Christ. The believer’s focus still needs to be on the desires of God. He does not wish anyone to perish, but that all would repent (2 Peter 3:9).
Focus your prayers today on the lost souls of people in the United States. As citizens and government officials embrace salvation and the Spirit-filled life, the country, as a whole, will change for the better.

We could pray for an end to the suffering – and then – we. have to live with the consequences of that prayer – you know – it is difficult to be left behind.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Good morning all!
Beautiful morning here at my central Indiana home. Partly cloudy and but a bit cool. Yard mowed and looking great and all our Lilac bushes full of blooms while Steve and Bettys patch of poppies are in full bloom. Birds working the feeders. Dogs fed and Buckley full of spit and vinegar as usual. I’m working on my 2nd cup of coffee.
This morning I have to make a trip to Belle tire to try and get a refund on the brake switch, which they screwed up. Then both Geisha and Buckley go to the groomers to get the works, including nails clipped and teeth brushed. I really have don’t know how that is going to go with Buckley. We’ll give him a calming treat before we take him but he is so active and has an aversion to cages and then there is the separation anxiety on top of that! They just might not be able to handle him. We’ll see.
We will also stop by UPS to send a package of surprises to Allison down in Florida. She tested at 1 to 2 grades above her current grade level on nearly every subject. And that means she will be eligible for advanced classes which she was in before but were discontinued due to COVID and are now about ready to start again.

Trying to gain weight before they start the chemo again. She’s a stick. I have been advised by people who’s opinion I respect, that this is not the time to bring the hammer to try and get her to adjust her attitude. Her brother has been talking to her and his method is probably better than mine would have been.
But it just pissed me off when I heard her say “I don’t know why your all worrying so much. We all know how this is going to end!” And I felt something needed to be done and now!
One of the hardest things for a parent of a grown child to do (I’ve learned) is to keep his or her own counsel and to know when it is better to stay schtum for the moment.
Keeping her in my prayers, Rob, that this round will be the turning point and that her spirits will be given a much needed boost. I’m sure she has her father’s fight in her somewhere. 🙏🏻💕

It’s been 5 years since pulled the yellow knob on over the road heavy haul and I find I miss seeing the country.
There are a lot of things I don’t miss at all like the new rude and crude drivers coming on the road today.
Those brakes will stay set for me. Yes I do miss getting out and about and miss the people I worked with and some I worked for, but there are more things I’m happy to be free of. The #1 thing I don’t miss is having the ball & chain of a phone. I Love not being on call. I am enjoying my retirement!

I’m a recent refugee from califonia to Florida. Loving it here for the last two years. I’ve been dealing with Citibank for years and want to stop. I can’t stand that all my interactions over the phone are hard to understand based. When I lived near a branch in California I was able to talk to someone in person. Sometimes they were even helpful. But here in Florida on the gulf side there aren’t even any branches to go into.
Plus all the woke advertisements I’m greeted with every time I log into the site. I want to get away from that bank.
I want to transfer to a local/regional bank here. Which banks do people like here in southwest Florida? Fifth Third? Truiest?
And yes, I am spooked by the bank failures, and the predictions of more, especially the smaller banks. But are there any Florida banks that have been well run, not woke, and are predicted to stay healthy? I’d love to give them my business.

I had originally posted this late on the OT on 5/14 and I think only Bet saw it so I am reposting it. Those are Downy Woodpeckers. The male has the red on its head. My all time high number was 13 at one time in my yard where I grew up as I had 4 suets hanging up in different spots and the yard was amazing for birds, it also being quite near a few thousand acres of woods.

I’m not sure which woodpeckers, Mr and Mrs, are feeding here. They were interested off and on in the suet cake I put out, but now are on the seed cake only. But they have clearly set up home nearby…

A house two doors down had a HUGE live oak in their back yard. I’m sure it was home for many of the little birds which I can hear, or could, every morning and evening. And as it does not drop its leaves, perfect for winter as well.
The other day we heard chain saws. For some reason that magnificent tree has been chopped down. I dread to think how many of these little birds have had their shelter destroyed. And I find myself grieving over it.
Subsequent this tree’s removal, we now no longer hear any birds, and worrisome, our cardinal pair no longer visits us for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Can’t absolutely say that’s the reason, but our cardinal pair have been with us for years.
There may be a perfectly good reason for the tree’s removal, I don’t know. Cause and effect? Don’t know that either…but to my eye and ear, I believe there is….sigh…

Prostate info. I don’t know if anyone is interested, but I thought that I’d post this here so that Treepers might benefit.
Last October my PSA (prostate specific antigen) score was 4.4 so my GP referred me to a urologist. My wife discovered about the same time that she had cancer. I purchased some fenben (fenbendazole) for her and decided to take some myself. (222mg daily.) In April my PSA was 3.9. Last week it was 3.6. Was it the fenben that lowered my PSA? I cannot say for sure, but I will continue to take it.

I am as well, stevie. An actual report of efficacy rather than just an article. I do pray so hard it might be an answer for one of the cruelest diseases. My belief, rightly or wrongly, is that there is a cure. And that Pharmakeia has it under lock and key in the deepest vaults.

Don’t take a PSA test after taking a round of antibiotics. Your test will come back high.
This happened to my husband. He waited 2 weeks later and took the test again. The test result came back okay.
