Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Bible Study Help #2, ‘America in the Word‘ Part 1 / Abridged
Prov. 8:7 “For My mouth shall speak truth…”
Eze. 38:2 “…I am against…the chief prince…” ‘Chief prince’ – Heb. / rosh. Common use, ‘rush’, now Russia.
39:1 “...I am against…Gog, the chief prince…” ‘Gog’ – Heb. / a barbarous nation of a northern region. Red communism.
Gen. 25:21 “...Rebekah…conceived.”
25:22 “...the children struggled within her…she went to enquire of the Lord.” “Children”.
25:23 “…Two nations are in thy womb…two…people…one shall be stronger…” “2 nations”.
25:24 “...And…behold there were twins in her womb…” 2 brothers, destined to be different nations.
25:25 “...first came out red…like an hairy garment…they called him Esau.” Hebrew / ‘hairy’.
25:26 “...after…his brother…his hand took Esau’s heel…called Jacob…” Hebrew / ‘heel grabber’, ‘supplanter’.
27:28 “...God give thee…dew of heaven…fatness…plenty of corn…” Blessing Jacob, lasts until this day.
25:30 “...Esau said to Jacob, Feed me…red pottage…therefore was his name…Edom.” Hebrew / “red”
25:34 ”Esau despised his birthright.” Lineage is very important to our Heavenly Father.
27:39 “Esau…thy dwelling shall be…” Hebrew / properly translated “far from the fatness” of the land.
We still sell them wheat & corn, thus Jacob is still feeding Esau [Edom, the red nation] unto this day.
Rom. 9:11 “...the children…not yet born…that the purpose of God…might stand…”
9:13 “...Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.” GOD stating He hates Esau.
Exo. 17:16 “…the LORD hath sworn…will have war with Amalek…generation to generation.” Amalek a son of Esau.
There’s no Hebrew word that conveys ancestry like ‘grand’ or ‘great-grand’ (dad). Father or son denotes lineage immediate or distant. Scriptural lineage is history, His-Story. Luke 3:23-38 [bloodline of Mary umbilical to umbilical] documents Jesus is King of kings, Lord of lords.
Oba. 1:1 “…Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom…” Russia, not the people, the red nation government.
1:2 “Behold…thou art greatly despised...” Satellite nations wanted to break away from USSR.
1:4 “…thou exalt thyself as the eagle…I will bring thee down…” Wants to be like USA, but GOD hates them.
1:7 “...thy confederacy have brought…to the border…” Back to the original border. GOD broke up the USSR.
Warsaw Pact countries gained independence after the Berlin Wall came down.
Oba. 1:14 “…stood in the crossway…cut off…escape…” Killed any crossing the Berlin wall to Christian freedom.
1:15 “…day of the Lord…reward shall return upon thine own head.” Happens in The Lord’s Day.
2 Pet. 3:8 “…be not ignorant…one day is with the Lord as a thousand years…” The Millennium.
Oba. 1:18 “…house of Esau…stubble…there shall not be any remaining” GOD hates communism.
Russia fills a negative part of Father’s Plan. Fake teachers are ignorant of understanding. A contemporary example:
Amos 2:1 “…I will not turn away the punishment thereof…burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.”
House of Romanov founded in the 15th Century ruled the lands of Russia [Edom] until 1917. [Peter the Great, etc.] After the ‘February Revolution’, Nicholas II abdicated the throne. In 1991 the family of the King line, the Romanov’s, were found in a pit where their bones had been burned with lime. DNA from Queen Elizabeth 2nd ensured the bloodline was from the King’s line, decended from Isaac. Historical information easily available, exactly as our Heavenly Father foretold us more than 2600 years ago. GOD‘s word always has and will, come to pass exactly as it’s written.
Hos. 5:3 “I know Ephraim… and Israel is defiled.” Ephraim =10 tribes. Judah [Judea] = 1 tribe, secular Israel.
Isa. 8:14 “…a stone of stumbling…to both houses of Israel…” Not our Stone [The Rock], the fake stone of Prophecy.
8:15 “...many among them shall stumble…and be taken.” Taken by belief that Satan is the True Christ.
Jer. 3:15 “I will give…pastors…shall feed…understanding.” It’s rare to hear teachers that understand.
3:19 “…the house of Judah…the house of Israel…shall come together...” Hasn’t happened yet.
30:4 “…the LORD spake concerning Israel and…Judah.” GOD reiterates we are separate nations.
Eze. 37:16 “…take thee one stick…Judah and…another stick…all …Israel.” 19 “…make them one stick…”
37:22 “…no more two nations…divided…“. Zec. 11:14 “…I cut asunder…Judah and Israel.” GOD set us apart.
Judea, [the secular world calls Israel] less than 10 million souls.
1 Kin. 4:20 “Judah and Israel…as the sand …by the sea in multitude…” 2 nations.
Israel [USA & the Christian nations] = billions. False teachers ‘lost them’ through confused teachings.
1 Cor. 14:33 “…God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…” Peace of mind from understanding.
Heb. 8:8 “…the days come…I will make a new covenant with…Israel and…Judah.” The Lord’s Day.
Eze. 37:23 “Neither will they defile…any more with…idols…“. GOD will do away with church traditions.
37:24 “…and they all shall have one shepherd…” Only happens when Jesus returns.
Matt. 11:15 “He that has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Tomorrow: ‘America in the Word‘ Part 2 / Abridged
I was fortunate enough to be friends with Townes back-in-the-day when he was relatively unknown and bounding from coffee-house gig to coffee-house gig. This was a wonderfully productive period in his life, a time in which he was writing some of his most famous songs. I like to sometimes let slip that I “used to open for Townes”. What this is true the reality of “opening” for Townes usually meant playing Fernando Sor classical guitar for audiences of 12 or so people in tiny venues. The audiences were polite but had clearly not come to hear Fernando Sor. I look back on those times when we were so very, very young (Townes and I were the same age) so, very filled with hope . . . with great fondness.
This is from the documentary film, “Heartworn Highways” . . . Highly recommended.
Infinite thanks for that wonderful story, Garrison. What a precious memory. Loved that you shared it with us. Waiting for more of your stories with excited anticipation.
Well, there is the time we went snake-hunting with our friend coffee shop owner, Dave, who had a new “Dirty Harry” 44 Magnum . . . When he shot at that 7ft water moccasin, Townes and I demonstrated the newly discovered ability to levitate from a standing position . . .
🫣😆
What a way with words!

Good morning Garrison! A water moccasin can scare the gravity out of you.
🙂
I enjoy your history. Have a peaceful day!
You, too, Lorrie 🙂

Thanks for the music and the little glimpse into your past.
Love hearing about the people you knew
Thank you

Howdy molonlabe – you have met some very interesting people in your life, as well. Got any more memories to share? Lord, hear our prayer.
Wonderful memories for you, insights into your history and life for the rest of us and glorious music for everyone. Thank you so much for it all.
As long as it’s fun, telling stories is always rewarding, benzy. That’s the true nature of lore. 🙂
Good morning, dear Garrison. Those really were the times, otherwise known as the good ole days. How lucky were you to have been there😌💕
Good morning, Bet. 🙂 Those scenes of Townes singing to “Uncle Seymour” are especially touching, I think. Looking back, it was exciting to hear those now famous songs, sometimes right after Townes had composed them. His early songbook is magical. Even though we were so young, I knew then that I was in the presence of greatness. Talk about a unique experience!
One just knows. It’s a feeling really. Visceral. Time has proven you right.

Been there. Seen that.
Good morning Mary.
Same here. Some cats seem to prefer chairs over scratching posts bought at Petsmart.

Awww.
Good morning nim.
mornin, Joe – catching you up late again
Awwwww!
Truth indeed.. Have two.. Will never give them up..
Seems todays youths may be catching on.. time will tell. https://archive.ph/r0wEv#selection-149.5-149.56
Had to give them up. Age does something to your knees so that the day of giving up stick creeps up on you unawares. But the memories stay. The most vivid is the metal gear shift of a ’68 Corvette. I can still feel the throw.
I had one of these when I was a teen. Before I got my driver’s license. 4 speed on the floor flathead 6 cylinder engine. Now I have a 2000 Ford Ranger stick shift 5 speed. Finally got the windshield replaced on it.

My second ride was one of these. 1954 Buick Super. Fully automatic, power steering, brakes, windows. Great car for skipping class and heading off to Newport Beach back in the day. Drove this model when I took the road test for my DL on my 16th birthday.

I drove our ’52 Packard. Loved that car!
And Joe you were surrounded and protected by all that American made steel!!!!! Seat belts not required nor air bags!
My Dad called the big American cars “Detroit iron”
My mother had a 54 Buick with that same front bumper. One evening at a traffic light, the car in front of me started when the light turned green, then suddenly stopped. I hit them with the Buick. They were driving a smallish station wagon with the tailgate. We both got out of our cars and looked (the cars were still touching) and determined there was no real damage. We got back in our cars and as he drove off, I saw two neat, round holes in his tailgate!!
Those vehicles are beauties, Joe!
I know someone who has a vintage red truck like that. It’s really nice…
How in the world did you pass the parallel parking test in that limo?!
Much less, skip class without being seen? Haha!
As teenager, my first car was 1965 Mustang (thought it was so cool, haha!)
Next, a new 1972 Volkswagen Beetle. My fav car ever! Filled up gas tank for three bucks and rode all week. Plus, a parking space always available!
Then, my Dad gave me (in my 20s) a 1969 Chevelle SS two door, white.
I didn’t know anything about cars, but found out quickly this thing could fly!
Amazing that I never got a speeding ticket, haha!
It was a fun car, tho.
Good morning Miss. Della. Nice looking Chevelle. I bet that was a fun car to drive. Very trim design, sporty looking.
Parallel parking during the road test was somewhat stressful, but I practiced in the car before taking the road test. I did get a speeding ticket when I was 15, but that was on a motorcycle. Also wrote up for no driver’s license, bike not street legal, etc.
For some reason, I was more careful when driving a car or truck.
I wish I still had that old ’50 Ford truck. Oh, well….
🤗🤗
I took my first DL test in a Triumph TR3. Parallel parking was a breeze.

Loved those cars, patty! Would like one now, but probably not safe?
SAFE?? It’s a wonder I’m still alive after driving my VW Beetle for years!
And, seatbelts were unheard of during these times …
🌷
We used parachute harnesses on our MGB. One swipe and you were free. Trying to look up at the car next to you. Driving tilted because you didn’t fit in the snow ruts.
That’s interesting, Mary!
Never heard of such – or of snow ruts – living here in the southern states!!
Were all MGBs convertibles?
I really like them.
You could put a hardtop on the MGB. We just had the ragtop. My favorite story of husband was that the car was hard to start in the winter, so I discovered he was putting a bbq grill under it and cooking it. Stopped that fast.
Sigh.
🤗🤗
Nice!! the car AND the couple! Striking!
The chrome bumper adds a lot, I think!
We were so young. Hear he became an artist in the New Mexico mountains. We were married while he worked on his PhD in high energy physics.
Such a sweet story, Mary … hold onto those precious memories!
🌷🌷
My Dad installed seatbelts in all his cars in the 50’s and 60’s; he was a pilot. Good thing. Mom rolled the VW transporter (van) when I was little and the seatbelts saved all our lives. No car in our family moves unless everyone is belted in.
And over 3 generations, the family has owned 9 – yes, nine – Volkswagens. Total of 5 Bugs (’56, ’68, ’69,’74 Superbeetle, ’06 New Beetle diesel), the transporter, ’65 squareback, a GTI, and my fav, Jetta TDI wagon. 40 mpg, in the hills. I joke they should give us the tenth one free (I think 5 were bought new).
I still want a ’68 Corvette. Love the look.
That’s a great story about your Dad having insight to put in seatbelts! Whew!!
I really loved my Beetle – it was no frills.
But at age 20, it didn’t matter…😂😂
Hope you can get that Corvette one day!
Mine was an MGB 1962.
My uncle was a GM customer for decades – had a 1964 Buick Electra 225 Convertible, later on a few Park Avenue models. My father bought a new 1956 Buick Special with a V8, PowerGlide transmission, and power steering. It had a lot of power, got about 8 mpg, and if you turned the steering wheel all the way to the left or right, it would remain there until you turned it back. He demonstrated that feature to the unbelieving dealer in an empty parking lot – the car was going around in circles with dad’s hands completely off of the steering wheel. The dealer rep who was riding along in the car relented and got the power steering fixed at no cost to Dad. That was Dad’s last Buick.
Own a 6 year old Buick Enclave which we bought because it was roomy and well designed to hold three growing teens and all their stuff when I was doing the school runs.
We’ve owned many marques including Lexus and in the UK Range Rover.
This Buick is THE best motor we have ever owned, hands down. For style (it has an actual oldy worldy clock in it), for looks, for comfort. The year after we bought it Buick changed the front, getting rid of all the chrome I love so much.
My school run days are over. We will keep this car until the wheels fall off it…or ours off us. Whichever comes first😎
Yes! I definitely empathize with your keeping the Buick. We are keeping our 2002 PT Cruiser and our 2014 Honda CR-V, both we originally purchased new. We like them, they run great, look great, and new cars are just too absurdly expensive.
I think my Dad got a ’56 Buick with a simple defect that was fixable, but he drove a lot for his job and wanted better gas mileage. I always liked Buicks in the later years into the early ’00’s. My son just helped his friend fix up, then clean up and sell the friend’s recently deceased mother’s white 2007 Buick Park Avenue sedan. It was a very very nice vehicle for whoever bought it.
If ever we did decide to go smaller, we would buy the CR-V. I had one in the UK and loved it. Their parking places are much smaller than ours and it was perfect.
When we came back here, we bought one, but much to my shock the interior wasnt a patch on mine in the UK. I like the design of them now. Yep…I’d buy one.
First car was an MGB. You broke the back end loose just cornering. Wanted a more stable ride and got a Fiat Spyder. Didn’t break loose but the dealer didn’t know what a roll bar was and put in the air conditioner at an angle using a bolt from the radio. And my parachute harness order!!! It looked like a seat belt from an old Chevy. They hadn’t the FAINTEST idea what I was talking about when they took the order.
Wow. Going through a dealership can be a nightmare at times.
Joe 12 Pack: All the time, in my experience. Every interaction is painful. Every visit in person, torture.
At 21 my first car also (purchased by me) was an MGB 1962 . . . . loved it, and I got a lot of attention from the guys.
Husband wanted to race with it, so he learned by reading how to take corners 10mph faster than anybody else. Terrifying.
Morning Joe. Can I get an AMEN on this from all who remember the good old days of motoring?
Long and loud! Let’s hear it!!
My grandma took me everywhere, in her pink Desoto. What fine memories. Now I look around parking lots, and it’s a sea of toasters.

Apt description, I must say. And they all try to run me off the road in my bigger car.
How marvelous, RipleysMom! The early equivalent of the Estee Lauder Caddy. Betting you really looked forward to those rides. I would have😊
(PS I know you well from another site. Love your stories. Good to see you here💕)
and they are all gray
Wow!!!!
I new exactly to what car Ripley’s Mom was referring in her post. ent an found this right away. My mom’s stepdad had a white one the ’50s. And my paternal grandfather had a dark green ’54 Chrysler New Yorker DeLuxe which was “first cousin” to the DeSotos….
My dad bought Chryslers all his life, GB. He loved them. New Yorkers every year except once when it was a convertible. Once…
I loved them too; they rode great! After he retired in ’59, Grandpop traded his ’54 in on a new, all-white ’61 New Yorker 4-dr sedan with a medium blue cloth interior. Had the “glass bubble” futuristic instrument cluster wrapped around the steering column.
But I just could not afford them by the time I was an adult, married and had children. I was making do with used Chevy’s, a Honda Civic, and various other makes amd models (I was not brand loyal).
I once rented an ’87 New Yorker in Texas when we flew down to Houston and drove down to visit my sister’s family in Corpus Christie for Christmas that year. That car had a red soft leather interior and rode ever so smoothy on the highway – I think we did about 80 to 85 mph most of the way down. That was a very solid car. But New Yorkers were still out of my price range to purchase new.
1961 New Yorker:

Bubble Instrument Cluster on ’61 New Yorker:

I’d forgotten the fins!!
SOOOO pretty!
Oh yes it was, Mary! Very avant-garde styling in its day. Of course the rakish fins were just about over in American cars (long tail fins were gone from the ’62 New Yorkers, and Cadillac would drop them within the next couple years.) Ford had never really incorporated fins other than their ’57 models.
But that photo doesn’t do justice to the luxurious heavy cloth upholstery that came in my grandpa’s car. I was only an adolescent kid but remember thinking it was more comfortable than the sofa in our living room… And it had powerful air conditioning as a standard feature which was otherwise a very pricey option in the early ’60s for most cars. That car drew attention when it rolled down the street…
Did your grandma’s DeSoto have push button drive selection?
My buddies 56 Desoto had push button drive selection. What a hoot. I believe Edsel came out with that also.
Betsy jones: Look lik a giant Mattel Hotwheel.
Yes! And those were great, too, bill.😁 inspired many a future driver to look forward to the time when they could drive👍🏻
I bought 5-spd stick last car I bought in 2007
Test-drove the automatic first and took it up a long, gradual hill near the dealership
Climbing the hill, the transmission would drop back down into a higher gear for hill-climbing and it was a loud, high-rev “nnnnnnggggggggnnnnnnnnn” all the way up the mile-long hill
Couldn’t live with that, mind you
Back to the dealership and swapped for the stick
While we’re at it, bring this back. I know, I know….I can already hear the groans.

To this day, I don’t know my current phone number. So when callers ask the number, I explain that I can’t reach the screen where it’s stored while I’m talking to them. I can, however, remember our first phone number in Chicago. Essex 5-5860 (I also remember my Mouseketeer number) Grandfather Jack Bell lived in Verdi, a suburb of Reno, and had the phone number 7.
Mary Van Deusen: Our number was GReen Leaf-2-0845.
These are the numbers I’ll find precious all my life. Oh, Mousketeer Number: 242001
You’re in good company, Mary – most people with a smartphone don’t know anyone’s numbers, either.
If we lose our phones, we’re toast…
“One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingy, …”
(snort, snuffle …)
Here you go, nim. For those who may remember, as I do…and for those who don’t. She was so funny😂
Lily Tomlin, the phone lady on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In
Good morning, Bet. Here’s Ernestine again.
THANK YOU!! Try as I might, I absolutely could NOT remember her phone lady name! 😊
thx, Betsy
Nostalgic morning, Joe!
I could go back to this – easily. Got my first flip phone in my fifties.
Then, a smart phone (or dumb one, however you view) ten years ago.
So, I can live with or without a cellphone.
Also, I remember my grandparents had party-line phones; meaning they shared the phone with another person or neighbor. It would ring once for my grandparent to answer, and ring twice if for the other party.
The kids would often silently listen in to the other party’s conversation, until they figured out we were on the line.
😂😂😂
Morning, Della😘. And now I’m remembering The Andy Griffith Show and Green Acres with their party lines. 😌
Yes, we loved Andy Griffith show — black and white, snowy screen, with rabbit ears antenna, too!
😁😁
I remember thinking then, “I could live there.” Loved their Sundays…church, good home cooked meal, relax on the porch. And I am still saying, “I could live there…”
I’m with you … with every generation, connections with family, friends, and neighbors have changed drastically, and terribly, in my opinion.
My grandparents have told me stories about their way of life in early 1900s, and I have wishful visions of it.
My paternal grandparents grew up in a very rural community. They met at church, got married and moved to the city in a horse and wagon. Took them a whole day to get there.
My nana was 21 yrs old and she had beautiful blonde hair down to her waist… Whoa, nana!
But on Sundays in the country, she said it was a day of worship, rest and fellowship with family and neighbors. No cooking allowed, but done the day before.
Have you ever seen an antique “pie safe?”
That came about from folks making their desserts before the Sabbath day, and keeping them in the pie cabinet.
I could listen to her all day tell about such things!
Meant to add — Nowadays, families are scattered over all creation. No such thing as sitting together on front porch, just talking and sharing hearts with one another.
Connections are via phone, email or text … no facial expressions, tone of voice, body language.
I truly believe this has contributed to the family breakdown in some way.
Can’t put my finger on it, but back in the day when families were closer in proximity, there were more opportunities to be there for each other.
On the other hand – some families don’t want that, rather, they run from each other…
Oh, the human race…
🙏🏻
Loving your memories, Della, because they are mine…through the stories of those who lived before us in times which were of deprivation and wars. And yet the stories I listened to were not told with self pity and woe.
They were filled with humour and, yes, joy. Joy that their families were all together and worked together to get through, which they did. Oh, and doors were never locked…
Today, as intended, that precious fabric has been nearly shredded beyond repair. As you say, families cast to the four winds physically and sadly for other reasons. In very few places do houses have porches.
But those stories from older generations? Priceless. (We do have our uses still😉)
Many happy times sitting around a kitchen table listening to the memories (perhaps shelling peas or snapping green beans). Many lessons to be gleaned from them.
I listened very intently, knowing even then these people wouldn’t be here forever. I miss them all.
…and yes! I have seen a pie safe😊.
So glad you’re left with good recollections, too.
You’re right – when they relayed their stories, there was not even a hint of “poor-me.”
There was NO whining allowed in their homes, and we’ve followed in their footsteps.
If you whine, forget about it …
Strange you mentioned shelling peas – my dear father-in-law and mother-in-law had just gotten back from a Florida beach vacay. They were shelling butter beans and laughing about something funny at the beach. My MIL asked him a question, and when he didn’t answer, she looked up from her lap of beans and he was Gone – from heart attack.
She never got over it, nor did the family…
But, she was left with beautiful, fun memories.
😭😭
I’m done being sad today – sorry!!
I apologize, dear friend, for adding to your sorrow.
???
You didn’t do anything!
I just had memory flashback from the shelling peas comment.
Then after I told my story, felt I added too much sorrow to the thread today.
You’re fine, Betsy, and dear.
Crazy how posts can be misconstrued, right?!
🙏🏻🤗
For me, memories bring up an odd concoction of joy and sadness. And that longing for past times.
The word in Welsh is “hiraeth”. No equivalent English word does it justice. More a deep feeling for things that we long for but cannot return to.
I don’t think you’re adding sorrow, Della. Not at all. This is how we all connect with one another I’ve always thought. If anything today has been nothing but those memories with the cars, stories, remembrances…everything that makes us the most special place there is. Which is why I love it so much!💕😘
I totally agree — but did not understand why you apologized for adding to my sorrow.
Because you did not do that.
Wanted to clear up any mistaken notion…
😘😘
Felt talking about times past might have done that. I was waxing lyrical, as I do when I get started… No worries at all, dear friend. 😘
We have antenna TV with the MeTv channel. We watch Andy Griffith and Green Acres every evening just before the Beverly Hillbillies and Hogan’s Heroes. Those were the the days.
I still remember my old number as well as my grandmother’s. My old number was the family’s for over 70 years.
Thank you, Gramadeb! We will definitely look for that channel. Wonderful shows to remind us of the times we miss so much💔

For fun, get one of these sneakily plugged into your phone jack and ask your teenager / teenage grandkid to use it to order a pizza….
Hey! Those work when the power’s out! (Unless the phone company’s power is out too.) I keep one around just for that.
The pedals show a certain type of laterally deployed pressure. And the clutch rod has a distinctly more stout non hydraulic relationship with the pressure plate..
When the fantasy time on “AutoTrader” is available, a search criteria of standard shift narrows down the pre 2010 vehicles to browse through. Thanks for the photo.
Oh, you betcha, Nim – nothing like it – only had one automatic – a used Ford Torino – I think – I detested that car –
A good stick shift car is worth its weight in gold – waited 7 months for a 2020 Honda Civic stick – had to order it made – and I love it – not only does it get good mileage – but I leave the best in the dust on a long highway entrance lane!!!
My only complaint is it is too big all around – a little tike like me needs a booster seat to see where I am going – 🙃
Duchess
Now I know I lil more about you.
You little tike
☘️🍀☘️
LOL
Time to go frolic with the four leggers .
Have a great day friend.
Be back later .

I Love little tikes !!!
Well you’re in luck!!!!
There seem to be quite a few of us here😁
Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!!!
We are sister Short Stuffs, duchess.🤗💕
One day my daughter was driving home and saw me coming the other way. But as she passed me she said there seemed to be no driver. She was laughing so hard she barely made it home in one piece.😂
Leave them in the dust, do ya?? Love ya even more, if that’s possible!😁
LOL – Yes, my little ‘White Lightening’ has a spiffy motor and great Humph!!! She’s fast!!! 🙃
A friend was following me one time – and could not keep up – Hahahahaha!!! 😄
I learned on a stick shift, sort of…enough to get a pass in Drivers Ed. But it was a close thing.
I think my instructor needed meds just to get him through the times when I was at the wheel. As did I😎
I was 14 when I got my license. A DPS officer in full uniform was in the passenger seat for that one. I was so nervous (and short even then, shorter now). Terrified at the parallel parking part of the exam.
Automatics after that until I ended up in Wales with stick shift. Had to learn all over again…and on the opposite of the road. Proud that I did both. Take my victories where I can, no matter how small.😁
Hopefully your left in the dust friend knew where she was going😎
“little tyke” ❤️
My sister in law (R.I.P.) was only 4′-10″ with disproportionately short legs. When her first husband (who was only about 5’6″ himself) bought a new ’73 Corvette, she couldn’t reach the pedals, especially to press the clutch pedal far enough forward… So they got removable “blocks” made to attach to the 3 pedals and extend the pedals outward far enough for her feet to reach them safely.. I’m not even sure that’s legal today but it worked for her.
My motto these days is exactly that, GB…whatever works, don’t care how it looks.👍🏻
Which is a far cry from the days when it was “… I would, but someone I know might see me.”
😂😂😂😂
An attitude which I’ve found very liberating. Wish I’d had it sooner😊🌻
Betsy, lemme give you an old “Murphy’s Laws of Combat” Army quote:
“If it looks stupid but it works, it ain’t stupid.”
Words of solid truth right there.
John Deere
(1804-1886)
American blacksmith and manufacturer (founded Deere & Company), dies at 82
John Jay
(1745-1829)
US statesman and 1st US Chief Justice, dies at 83
He’s one I’ve studied a lot. He’s a 3rd cousin of mine married to a 2nd cousin of mine. When he went to Paris, he left his son with my 5th great grandfather so that he wouldn’t be a burden on Jay’s father. But the boy and his grandfather did get together. One of 5ggf’s letters describes the fireproof house that Jay built in NYC.
https://www.henrylivingston.com/bios/johnjay.htm#letter
Henry wrote a lot to the Jays while they were abroad. John’s wife Sarah wrote that “Harry broke bulk” with his letters. Unfortunately none of those letters survived. What we got was from state archives. Henry’s grandson was an IL senator and the Chief Justice of the IL Supreme Court, so all of his papers were saved and Henry wrote him a LOT, thank goodness.
One of Henry’s letters. Just noticed. This is the letter describing Jay’s house in NYC.

Lawrence Welk’s parents were homesteaders in North Dakota and were among tens of thousands of Germans from Russia to come to North America.
Anyone else find it disturbing that the author of Undercover Angel was chosen to write songs for a little children’s TV cartoon? It ran 1984-1991.

What a blessing for you, Poyeema! Sounds like you’re living some of your best days – and I loved helping in the AWANA class, too!!

thank you we need this everyday.
I’ve seen articles stating that President Trump is planning on winning 2024 by playing the ballot harvesting game better than the Uniparty. If that’s true, 2024 is already lost. We know PDT cannot give away his strategy, but Election Fraud Inc has its tentacles into all possible means of disenfranchising us, including now AI, and it seems a certainty that ballot harvesting will only be a drop in the evil bucket. It’s still extremely hard to believe PDT wasn’t prepared for dealing with The Crime of the Century in 2020, and we need to see a more pragmatic complement to prayer as we fast approach the Deep State’s satanic scheme for stealing (or, more likely, cancelling) 2024.
In hindsight, it seems PDJT knew it was coming and there was no being “prepared” which is why we saw him campaigning like crazy. How could he have prepared or intervened? Poll monitors? Since most election functions are run by local and state political parties and both of “the parties” were against him, not sure what could have been done.
What I do know is never in my lifetime has 5 states simultaneously stopped counting votes on election day. Never in our history has a POTUS been elected by mail. The latter is a direct result of the COVID (over) reaction. Planned and orchestrated perfectly. Once POTUS put his COVID response team together, followed their advice to shut down the country, they were in charge. There is no unringing that bell and no winning in their playground.
it’s not even as if the mail votes were valid
In Arizona, they were just pretending at signature verification
they reckon 130,000 ballots cleared that step without assurance it was done properly
it was just ballot-box stuffing of the most profligate order
Precisely. That was their plan. They knew, probably 2 years into PDJT term, after he survived Russia and impeachment, he would get re-elected. Their old “cheat book” wasn’t a guaranteed win and they were not going to allow him another term.
Their plan, their planners, their execution was nearly perfect and achieved the goal. They have a far larger and superior team. JMO
you ain’t just whistlin’ Dixie, oldschool
when people point to GOP’s “ballot harvesting strategy” I just laugh and list all the other means of DEM ballot fraud beyond GOP’s simplistic, blindered focus on ‘harvesting’
Mornin’ all!
Pretty much sums it up.
They knew.
They lied.
And they continue to lie.
Snagged!
That’ll come in useful to irritate liberals in two ways at the same time.
1. It’s the truth, and they hate the truth.
2. It came from a democrat. Granted, today he would be labeled a “right wing extremist”, but he was still a democrat. They will be stumped how to reply to that.

The Equestrian Statue of St Francis in Assisi
I am so drawn to this one, my friend. It is powerful.
The inscription roughly translates from Italian to mean
“Lord, what would You have me do?”
A dear artist friend of mine in Wales took sabbaticals to Assisi for very personal reasons. He drew a picture of this serene and humbling statue. I keep a photo of it on my phone. Every time I look at it, I am instantly calm.

Marvelous and Humbling
It affects me as no as other statue I can name, parichute.
Only one that comes to mind for me is The (la)? Pieta.
Ah yes…..that one hadn’t come to mind when I write the above. So that’s two which move me greatly.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

HIS ASCENSION AND OUR UNION
“And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.” Luke xxiv. 51
We have no corresponding experience to the events in Our Lord’s life after the Transfiguration. From then onwards Our Lord’s life was altogether vicarious. Up to the time of the Transfiguration He had exhibited the normal perfect life of a man; from the Transfiguration onwards – Gethsemane, the Cross, the Resurrection – everything is unfamiliar to us. His Cross is the door by which every member of the human race can enter into the life of God; by His Resurrection He has the right to give eternal life to any man, and by His Ascension Our Lord enters heaven and keeps the door open for humanity.
On the Mount of Ascension the Transfiguration is completed. If Jesus had gone to heaven from the Mount of Transfiguration, He would have gone alone; He would have been nothing more to us than a glorious Figure. But He turned His back on the glory, and came down from the Mount to identify Himself with fallen humanity.
The Ascension is the consummation of the Transfiguration. Our Lord does now go back in His primal glory; but He does not go back simply as Son of God; He goes back to God as SON OF MAN as well as Son of God. There is now freedom of access for anyone straight to the very throne of God by the Ascension of the Son of Man. As Son of Man Jesus Christ deliberately limited omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience in Himself. Now they are His in absolute full power. As Son of Man Jesus Christ has all power at the throne of God. He is King of kings and Lord of lords from the day of His Ascension until now.

Good morning, Doc. This was wonderful. Thank you.
My two favourite Simon and Garfunkel songs remain “The Boxer” and America”
Not for the tunes, though I do love them…but for the poetic lyrics which rip the heart out of me for many reasons. Especially now America, a country we knew long ago and which, alas, is no more. Blessings to you, sir.

☘️🍀☘️ Hello Duchess

Good afternoon Treepers.
Still out and about.
Exploring on the lake.
This is one of my favorite spots . Very rare will someone else come out here. The outside edges of this lil adv isle are soft on the feet . Waters cool but not cold . The inside of this spot , there’s a big canopy of trees but open center , lots of nice flora . Plenty of bugs and fish . Caught some of each . See some nice bushes. I miss being in the tree but I’m in the trees.
Just sayin
Love you !
Miss you !
Mean it !!!

Ah – the tree by the water – and the man recording its majesty…
Psalms 1:3
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

At first, was feeling sorry for the tree – but now – thanks to you – I can see its majesty!!!
Thanks for the outer view, Bro Mo!!! 💙

Can almost feel its softness – Lovely!!! 🪴🪴🪴
I used to have a ‘grove’ of moss up and behind our house a a little girl. I could hang out there for hours in the softness with dappled sun and a light breeze to keep me company. Ferns too – there was a place to hang out in the ferns in another part of the property. Thanks for the greenery scenery ML.
My pleasure my foodie friend
My pleasure
The moss gives me much
Fantastic Ferns – we do not have any of those here – reminds me to pick up some at the Flower Factory for indoor splash and splendor…
Thanks, Bro Mo – for these magnificent manifestations of God’s beauty!!! 🪴🪴🪴
Wow!!! The water is an unusual color – sandy bottom? – 0r because it is close to shore?
Would love to walk barefoot through it – but – not if the fish are swimming in between my toes – 🙃
After such a long winter of snow covered evergreen trees and flowerless gardens – every day there is more greenery – and spring flowers popping up here and there!!!
Oh, how I love SPRING – God is Great in His Gifts, eh MO? ❤️🧚🏻♀️❤️🧚🏻♀️❤️
The fishies do swim around your toesies they will tickle
Good morning dear molon. Beautiful, beautiful!🤗🍀
Lookin good, molo … Mr. Green Thumb!

If I could have the adrenaline dump of breaking up a cat fight barefooted in the woods every morning without having to actually intervene I would be doing alright. Praise The Lord I can still move when I have to albeit for short distances. This neighborhood bully cat is bound and determined to kill my buddy Jinx. On a bright note, my yard has gone from brown to green overnight. This part of Florida is either a desert or a swamp depending on the rain pattern. Hats off to the Seminoles and Early Florida Pioneers who were able to thrive in this environment. Have a Blessed day Treehousers.
Morning, CR.😊 Hope your guy wasn’t involved🙏🏻
We feed an intact feral cat who is the last of many litters deposited in our yard. There is an enclosed space with a transformer in it in the corner of our garden which supplies multiple houses on our block. The nursery we called it.
We managed to catch all but one, and he has been with us lo these many years.we provide shelter and food for him. He comes and goes and allows us to pet and brush him at times of his choosing.
Recently a well fed looking black cat has appeared from somewhere. Don’t know if he is somebody’s but he is too fat not to be it seems to me.
Our feral and this cat’s paths don’t cross much, but when they do the noises are ominous. Stand offs, no altercations…so far.
But the sounds are terrible. I’ve heard cat fights. Those are worse. I know exactly what you mean about your adrenalin pumping. And with your back, that can’t be good.
You be careful, my friend. I do worry for you and this problem which I know is constantly with you. 🙏🏻
I found this picture of your lad. At least I think it is…😎
Different spelling I know…😁
Throw some bengal stripes on him and that’s my boy!

Gosh I loved that cartoon when I was little🤗 Thank you for reminding me why💕.

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. – 2 Peter 1:2
If your days on Earth ceased right now, what would you leave the planet knowing? How do you know that what you know is true? Epistemology is the investigation of the space between belief and opinion. In the apostle Peter’s writings, he appears to be concerned about God’s people being grounded in knowledge, and for a good reason! In the early days of the Church, heretical teachings frequently slipped in.
Some were leading people to believe they must add human works to grace for salvation. The antidote to this error is knowledge.
Human knowledge alone is toxic because it is missing the key ingredients of God’s character. “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up” (1 Corinthians 8:1). For those wanting to know anything, the beginning is always in the Creator of all that exists. “From Him and through Him and to Him are all things” (Romans 11:36).
God will lead you to life and peace through the knowledge of Him and your proximity to Him. As you delve into a deeper relationship with Christ you will discover spiritual truth. “Their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasure of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2-3).
Knowing Christ as Lord brings peace and grace. Pray for those governing America to embrace a greater understanding of God. Ask that many will look past human wisdom to find the source of all knowledge, a relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Good Morning all.
I already posted once about the weather but it went into the bin. To sum it up:
Accuweather has woken up to the potential for TS activity East and South East of Florida. They’re only about 10 days behind Joe Bastardi and his Weatherbell gang and their area of concern matches what Joe put out almost exactly.
Meanwhile the National Hurricane Center has nothing to say about the potential for Memorial Day activity and just says no Tropical Storm activity expected for the next 7 days.
Highest potential for tornadic activity is marginal and covers large areas in the SE and West Central US. Greatest potential for flooding from heavy thunderstorms is in Georgia, the Florida Pan Handle and going west through
Mississippi and Alabama. My own sense is that the worst will be in the eastern half of that area.
NOAA/NWS Storm Prediction Center
Cyclone Mocha fatality count stands at 84 as I write this but 100’s are still missing. I have no doubt it will go over 100 and probably be closer to 200 as many isolated communities are still not in the count.
The forecasters really screwed the pooch on forecasting the strength of Mocha. They were showing it as the equivelent of a CAT 2 but when it made landfall it was a marginal CAT 5 it appears. Joe Bastardi was calling them out on this as it happened. He said this cyclone was a classic case and there was no reason to not expect it to continue to strengthen as it approached the shore.
Meanwhile Europe is colder than normal as is about everywhere on earth with the exception of Canada and parts of the NW US Both Poles are colder than normal and India is having the coldest May since 1901. It is much colder than average in the Himalayas and though the climbing season for Everest has started, I sure as heck wouldn’t want to be on an assent there now or anywhere in that chain because the worst of the cold, relative to averages, in the temperate zone is right there.
Though there is really no such thing as a “global temperature” we will play the alarmists game. WUWT has a new widget that tracks “global temperature” by reviewing the readings of every certified ground station and various other sensors every 1-2 minutes. As I write this that temp is 57.54 degrees F. having processed 69,931 stations globally.
I hope everyone has a nice Wednesday.
Supposedly, this slimy (fill in the blank) is training to be a nurse. Shouldn’t she be arrested, convicted, then sentenced to do hard time on a Mississippi chain gang? For the rest of her unnatural life? The answer, of course, is a resounding yes….

Another unintended consequence from school lockdowns during covid…
*******
I came across a post on our local community page by a parent reaching out for advice. She said ever since civid lock down ended….it has been a struggle to get her child to go to school.
Other parents said they have the same problem, and a school therapist confirmed the problem is widespread.
Some parents said their kids are having to relearn in class what they were supposedly already taught online. They were not actually learning.
They complained that teachers have gotten lazy since schools re-opened. They don’t want to teach in person…they have the kids log in and receive material on tablet rather than teaching face to face even though they are in the room.

As we get closer to election, imo one of the most important tasks is to open eyes to the true Donald Trump. I converted a dozen Dems and Indies like me in 2106 run up. They voted Trump. Soft. Slow. Agreeable.
“they give us 2 parties – make us think we have a choice. They’re all the same. They don’t care about me. They don’t care about you”.
“I detest majority of Republicans. McConnell is a snake. Gross. Same as Schumer. They hate us. You me. Everyone. All for sale.”
Trump cannot be bought. Does he need cash? Fame? Power? Glory? An actor in a movie? Or…does he love all of us? Every person – no tribes or voting blocs. American workers. American jobs. He is the only man that understands the big club and complex global finance schemes. How to destroy it all and bring it home”
”JFK was a Democrat. He was also a good man who loved his country served his country. He was young. Woke up and was coached by Ike in secret. He didn’t want Vietnam. No way. No way was gonna escalate it or dive in. He saw intel monster and decided to break into pieces. So they got him out. Then Off to Vietnam with millions killed. Like the Bush boys rolled. Evil chaos death. blow it all up. Evil stuff. Dark. Republicans right?”
”kennedy cared. Ripped around South Pacific chucking torpedoes at destroyers. not in air guard. That’s a wild brave guy JFK. He was cool and loved America. Had it going on. Charismatic. Trump is no different at a high level. Full of love. For us.
”Fox is poisonous like CNN. All the same.” Propaganda and controlled opposition”. Trump sees it. Doesn’t pander. He’s done with them. Desantis is a pathetic clown, don’t ya think”
so much more. This should be a CTH carve out. Share strategies as we get closer. It’s a soft agree with them right upfront kinda sell. Keep it simple. Keep it light. Laugh. Don’t occupy convo. Make points in 15 secs tops. I’ve crushed it. Mean everything you say. Data. Not sound bites. Stay off social issues. Rathole. Jobs. Us. Stay there. It worked for me. Make a difference.
hopes this of value.
I was asked on yesterday’s thread “What’s Cooking Pari”. So I’m thinking I may as well contribute now and again along those lines. Tonight we’re having chicken marsala with a heaping broccoli/cauliflower side. We’ve been trying to have 1 protein, 2 veg meals at least 3 times per week to pare down on carbs. ‘Big pot’ food earlier this week was chili (with beans).

So now you’ve given me a chance to drop this recipe here which I’ve found today. Looks as if it could be tweaked to suit…
I thought of you immediately, parichute. I thought as soon as I had an opening I would leave it here for you.
Never thought that would be your comment right here, but (not) coincidentally here is the moment.💕
