In Italy, a heartbroken dog whose owner died two months ago has been going to the church where the funeral ceremony took place all this time.
The owner of a German shepherd named Tommy was 57-year-old Maria Margarita Loci, according to The Daily Mail.
After Maria found the little dog in the field, he became her best friend for the next 7 years. Due to the fact that the woman did not have close friends, she asked the priest for permission to go to church with Tommy.
After the death of his mistress, the dog immediately runs to the church as soon as he hears the bells announcing the beginning of the service. According to witnesses, the dog is still waiting for Mary to return from the church with him.
“He still comes to Mass even after Mary’s funeral. He patiently waits next to the altar and just sits there quietly. None of the parishioners ever complained about the presence of Tommy,” said priest Donato Panna.
That is very moving. It makes me think of Hachi.

Grew up as a kid ridding “Dan” on a Gulf Coast beech,.. a beautiful tan and well trained Quarter house owned by my uncle who bought him as a colt in San Antonio, TX when he lived there.
Dan had a beautiful white star on the front of his forehead, and boy did he love to run in a full out gallop on the waters’ edge packed beach sand,.. had to hold on to his main for life when I rode him bareback.
He loved carrots, apples and sugar cubes fed to him by hand, and never bit me once. My uncle Robert taught him many tricks and Dan liked to perform them for the treats. Great horse.

Guardian – What’s New Pussycat – Tom Jones
Hi, Mary. Listening to the Willie Nelson Stardust recordings caused me to think about your production experiences. I’m listening to Stardust and then Georgia and remarking to myself about the oh-so subtle but absolutely spot-on production quality of this famous recording.
I’m fortunate to have a pretty good reproductioi system (old Klispch IHX) which allow me to hear the great dynamic range of the recordings. Don’t know who the producer was but he/she was perfectly in tune with Willie’s legendary—half-a-beat-behind—phrasing. Mickey Raphael’s harp playing mixs perfectly with Willie’s Jango-influenced guitar riffs (not many people know that Texas Swing was heavily influenced by Jango Reinhardt’s Hot Club jazz guitar playing).
This is just wonderful musical perfection. And, if you know a little about recording, each listening brings new respect to this whole project. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever heard better production than what is so evident in Willie’s Stardust recording.
It really has no feel of production. It’s so subtle that it feels that you’re eavesdropping on someone sitting on a porch at sunset with a guitar and a whiskey. The music just comes out of the sky.
Perfect description, Mary. And yet, they achieved that “airy” sensibility in a sound studio where, literally, any range of effects are possible. “The music just comes out of the sky” . . . is exactly how I would have described it. Wonderful production work. I wonder how much input Willie had? Probably a lot.
Producers and sound engineers had to really be on their toes to work with him. (And the same can be said for the side men in his band . . .). He has a reputation of being a hands-on-guy in the recording studio. Wow, it would have been exciting to be in the studio when all this was happening.

Good,… I met Clint at the Shell Open in Houston in 1981 when he was playing in the Pro Am there with Willie Nelson.
We were fortunate,…they let me and my sponsoring Client from Dresser Magobar (now Halliburton) follow along just behind them on the back nine fairways,… after they visiting our Tour Rest Tent at the ninth hole green for refreshments at Memorial Park Golf Course next to the Polo Grounds.
That was before the Open moved to Arnold Palmer’s PGA Course at The Woodlands, where my client and I were also lucky enough to later meet & greet Arnold and his best friend then, The Golden Bare, Jack Nicklus after they finished their round. Both of the PGA greatest were tired but generous with their time, signing our hats and great down to earth gentelmen, like Clint and Willie.
Clint and Willie were also both excellent golfers. I played 3 times a week with my client and carried a 6 handicap back then on a Pete Dye 7200 yd 72 par tough course with all greens protected by water and/or sand traps,.. had to fly the greens, no easy bump and run ups. I could not have beaten either of them,… they were that good, not just Celeb duffers out for cold beers and hacking up the course.
Wille was a real hoot, a humors cut up like The Merry Mex, Lee Trevino and/or Creche Rivera and even ‘quite man’ Clint was cutting loose with wise cracks,.. a great time that day. As said, we were lucky then.
Saw him at the gun range a couple of days ago. 🙂

Buckley is a great car dog. Around the house he is like a bull in a China shop sometimes, but in the FJ he sits in the back seat and stays there. No anxiety at all. Gabby the cat has learned to tolerate this new adolescent canine that has joined the pack. And she now has no trouble coming up on the bed to get her pets when Buckley is there. Had Buckley to my left between Sherry and I and Gabby to the right next to the edge of the bed last night. Now, even if I am concentrating on giving Gabby all my attention Buckley will just lay there with his head on me.
Geisha comes up and asserts her seniority and just muscles her way up to get attention when she desires. She gets off the bed to sleep as she has for some time. Too hot for her on the bed during the warmer months and she sleeps on the floor. The cat gets her allotment of attention and then gets down and sleeps in the doggy bed next to the wall. Buckley stays up in the bed with us, usually down by our legs between Sherry and I. He doesn’t get up unless one of us do.

We have to do all that ourselves, we have to work out the salvation God has worked in. “Add” means to get into the habit of doing things, and in the initial stages it is difficult. To take the initiative is to make a beginning, to instruct yourself in the way you have to go.
Beware of the tendency of asking the way when you know it perfectly well. Take the initiative, stop hesitating, and take the first step. Be resolute when God speaks, act in faith immediately on what He says, and never revise your decisions. If you hesitate when God tells you to do a thing, you endanger your standing in grace. Take the initiative, take it yourself, take the step with your will now, make it impossible to go back. Burn your bridges behind you – “I WILL write that letter”; “I WILL pay that debt.” Make the thing inevitable.
We have to get into the habit of hearkening to God about everything, to form the habit of finding out what God says. If when a crisis comes, we instinctively turn to God, we know that the habit has been formed. We have to take the initiative where we ARE, not where we are not.

Face Book censors article that accurately reports coldest temperature so far recorded on earth. The say USA Today are their “fact checkers” and found the claim to be false.
Facebook Censoring The Inconvenient Truth About Antarctic Temperatures – Watts Up With That?
The cold temperatures of -135 deg. F. are from satellite measurements. Taken high up in the interior of east Antarctica. NASA correctly explained that the temperatures result in depressions at higher altitudes when extremely dry air, meaning air lacking water vapor, is in place for a matter of days over the depressions.
Further, Face Books fact checkers state that Antarctica is getting warmer. That is false, even according to NASA except for the western peninsula, the extreme north western extension of which is not even in the Antarctic circle. It has been clearly shown that the warming that has occurred in that NW extension of the continent has resulted from an increase in volcanic activity in that area.
Meanwhile the Arctic has been warming, but only during the coldest part of the year when temperatures remain well below freezing. During the warmer months the temperatures have remained at or slightly below the 30 year mean. That warming is due to an increase in the #1 “green house gas” which is water vapor. But the alarmists blame the warming there on CO2, there by ignoring the actual science.

I lived in Ecuador for three years. I have family that lived there all of their life. Correa was president for many years. A brutal communist and hater of all capitalism.
He declared borders open several years ago before his last term. Colombians came pouring in and set up shop in the port city of Esmeraldas. A once beautiful beach town that boasted beautiful beaches and sea food.
The mafia infiltrated police, govt, and every institution imaginable. Now the mafia controls the gate keepers. Esmeraldas has degenerated into one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America. Only the poor remain.
You can’t comprehend the consequences of open borders until you see it first hand. Sundance is way ahead on this one.
I’m working on the road this week. We are staying at a massive hotel. All ground floor units seem to be filled with migrants from the Middle East. I’m sure the Afghans that Trudeau brought over by the thousand.

This morning, Jinx the problem cat jumped on the breakfast bar countertop after he woke up hungry at 4 AM. Beau the Rhodesian Ridgeback/Red nose Pit mix heard him and ran out of my room barking his shrill, alarmist bark he only utters when the cat is doing something he shouldn’t be or someone is at the front door.
This all caught me off guard. I jumped out of bed to see what was going on. I had left my pair of jeans from the previous day on the floor like a slob. The old timey real leather belt I bought from the thrift store because I can’t stand the patent leather ChiCom ready made junk belts available at most retailers was still in the belt loops of the pants.
The belt has an antiquated buckle: a curved rectangular metal piece with a spur on one end to catch the sizing holes. Sure enough I stepped with all my weight right on the spur with the ball of my foot in my haste to kick off the blankets. This is not an advisable way to start the day.
Buckle up takes on new meaning….ouch!

The spur is about 1/3 of an inch long and slightly pointy. It stabbed all the way into my foot! I shook my foot to dislodge my new piercing but all that did was make the mass of the belt waggle back and forth as the spur held purchase causing a lightning bolt of pain! The dog and cat disappeared for a few minutes after my tirade of profanity, for which I instantly asked Forgiveness.
I am all sympathy, CR. Truly. Put some hydrogen peroxide on that new piercing…
…and I’ll play “mother” today. Hang or fold your trousers after wearing. You just know as a seasoned one and a grandmother, I was going to say it. 😎😘
(In the middle of a deep sleep, nothing makes me jump more than the fractious sounds of two animals…unless it is the phone ringing. Nothing good ever comes from that last one.)

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

I have one of these sitting on the table next to the laptop. Same exact model. A retired nurse gave it to me. I was listening to a couple of sermons when the power was out again a few days ago. Have no idea how old it is, but it works.
Not only handy, but small!
The first transistor radio was the Regency TR-1 which was released in 1954. I don’t think this particular radio is that old; probably a model sold in either the late 50s or early 60s. It is small, and could easily fit in most shirt pockets.
No cell phones, smart tvs, or personal computers back in those days. Totally different world back then.
While listening to one of the sermons on this little radio, the pastor was talking about the class system in ancient Rome. The time when Jesus walked the face of the earth.
He had my undivided attention.
And it will as long as there is AM radio to listen to and the batteries are good.
I put a new 9-volt battery in it. It not only works, but it’s quite loud.

Hardly anything is made in the U.S. anymore. I’m lucky if a vacuum cleaner lasts over a year. Most of the time I’ll end up using a shop vacuum around the house because the Bissell upright quits.
Quality of newer appliances goes down, prices go up just about everywhere. Including furniture, tools.
And nothing is made to last either.
We moved into our Welsh home and then out 20 years later. Never did we have to replace anything in it, including the flush mechanism in either loo.
Here? I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve replaced the ones in our American made ones.
Briggs and Stratten was relieable when made in Milwaukee, USA,… now “designed, manufactured, marketed and serviced in more than 100 countries on six continents”,… Briggs and Scrap’em last a season or two at most now a days.
My ten year old Japanese Honda motor Craftsman mower still starts and runs great after one or two pulls, with yearly regular maintenance.

The teachings of cause and effect are relevant to all disciplines of learning. In science, independent variables (cause) may be manipulated and the effects measured to learn more about a particular subject. Studying cause and effect is vital in relationships and sociology. Writers learn about cause and effect to build believable and fascinating storylines. In today’s verse, a situation of cause and effect is described, “And the effect of righteousness will be peace.”
This passage in Isaiah prophesies the reign of King Hezekiah. Matthew Henry‘s outline shows Hezekiah’s kingdom included reformation, the Assyrian invasion, and a promise of better times afterward. But as many words of Isaiah the prophet, he is also referring to the Messiah.
Jesus is the believer’s righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). He is also his followers’ peace (Ephesians 2:14). At the birth of Christ, the angels sang, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14).
However, Jesus also said, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword” (Matthew 10:34). Jesus is the Prince of peace to all who believe and His righteousness challenges the tumultuous, unrighteous world. Someday, He will return and make everything right.
Echoing King Hezekiah’s reign, there is a reformation of souls in Christ, troublesome times, and the promise of better times when He returns.
Pray for United States citizens and government authorities who are in turmoil to receive Christ as their righteousness and peace. Pray for your fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus to remain faithful through trying times.

I will admit that this is one of my blind spots: giving children names that are e.g. for cities or for fruits, or are last names, or are babbled syllables with no meaning…no, just wrong!

When we chose names for our three, we chose names remembering they wouldn’t be little forever, knowing they would have to bear those names the rest of their lives. We selected accordingly. Thankfully, our grown children have done the same with theirs. And I am glad to say there are some apostles’ names amongst them.
The KJV says “Our Father WHICH art in heaven”
I prefer the “which” to “who” because for me “who” refers to persons and God, Spirit is much much more than a person.
In the 1500’s, “which” was still being used for people, but as the century went on, a shift to using “who/whom” for people and “which” only for things occurred, becoming standard by the 1700’s.
Shakespeare shows this duality: 80% of the time, he uses “who/whom” to refer to people.
But what about that 20%? One analysis goes like this:
“…Shakespeare has his characters use personal which in his history plays, demonstrating that it tends to appear when the speaking character is superior in social status to his/her referent(s) or highly emotional, usually displaying anger towards them; otherwise, the referent is dead or present as a corpse….”
Another aspect is that Tyndale’s translation of the English Bible, used in the 1500’s, had the older “which” for persons.
Since the Our Father was such an important prayer, the King James translators undoubtedly decided to keep the older, but increasingly obsolescent form, because that is what everyone had grown up with.
Certainly both Ancient Greek and Latin use only one system for Relative Pronouns e.g. qui in Latin can be used for people or things.

What I know about Niki.
Scans show no growth or spread in the tumors.She was admitted to the hospital because she was dehydrated and impacted.Her head is in a bad place right now.It is sounding to me like we may have to go back down there soon for an intervention. Niki seems to have fallen into the trap of feeling sorry for herself and believing she is going to die. She has been making life miserable for those around her and staying in bed all the time.
I’m thinking we may have to intervene and try to induce an attitude adjustment. Remind her that she may think this is all about her, but it isn’t. What she says and does touches a lot of other lives. And make her understand that a big key to healing and making it through this will be her attitude!
Not something that can be done over the phone. The means by which it can be accomplished is only being there in person so as to read her actions and reactions. I’m thinking though that Dad may have to be the hammer depending.
Before long Allison will be getting out of school and the plan is to bring her up here with us for a month. But we may not be able to wait until then to go down because it has gotten that bad according to Laura, who is a great person who Loves Nikki and doing everything she can for her.

When working in a nursing home, I saw a lot of residents who were miserable and angry because they were in pain, bedridden, and dependent on nursing staff for help with their daily needs. On one hand, I don’t blame them. There were residents who wanted to make others miserable besides themselves. It can make things difficult for the aides and nurses; we had to try out best to be patient. It can really drain caregivers and family members as well.
There were times when we had to contact family members to see if they had any suggestions, or possibly stay with a resident for a short time. It helped a great deal when family members came in and visited with their loved ones.
Seeing a familiar face might help Niki a great deal with what she’s going through. Try to be patient. And a positive attitude does make a big difference. I saw that happen with elderly folks who were in the final stages of life.
Edit: Not trying to tell you how to manage the situation with Niki btw. I’m thinking she could benefit from a good father to daughter talk.
Rob, what good news about her physical progress. Depression is a terrible thing, and it affects all those around the person who is deep in that trough. This is something which I understand very well, and I will pray for them all. Really hoping a dad’s love face to face will help.

Here’s a thought about the looming default on America by our installed government.
The plan seems to be to let government go into a financial crisis where all monthly payments to deserving people like those on social security etc will stop and the blame will be on the Republican Party for not allowing the limit to be increased.
This default will then be remembered next election when Donald Trump and any Republican possible majority will face a nearly impossible task of overcoming the consequences of a despicable scheme to undermine their credibility, and our installed government will retain power.
“Where all monthly payments…will stop” I doubt the traitors in charge will stop welfare payments, food stamps, Medicaid, disability payments, social security, Medicare, housing benefits, etc… as then the citizens they have been enabling WOULD rise up against them.

What a photo!!! My granddaughter who was given a great gift of an artist’s eye and skill, produced the most beautiful life like ladybug. She was 11 then. In the UK they are called ladybirds.
Of course you may think the because I am her proud grandmother that I would say that. But believe me when I say that when I gaze upon the little creature in your photo, I am looking at the one she so expertly and unfathomably drew.

Collected this heinous creature :p from our pool last evening. A Red-eared Slider about a half-dollar in size.
Spent the night in Kim’s mixing bowl and released into the neighborhood retention pond this morning.
Odd as it may seem – miniscule events like this are some of the bonding agents that strengthen my sanity.

Not odd, dear ERROR. At all. Moments such as you experienced would centre me and keep me sane as well. It’s the seemingly small and inconsequential (in the scheme of things) which have miraculous powers to do so.
As an aside, my daughter, mother of triplets plus one, decided to get her teaching credentials when her children started school. She was hired as a science teacher for grades k-2 in Midland, Texas…and taught while she attained them. No small feat with a home to run and children and a husband to oversee, and her job.
She went into it firing on more cylinders than I knew she had. She turned her classroom into a virtual nature preserve with all sorts of God’s tiny creatures, such as your remarkable find above. Lizards, a small harmless snake, turtles, gekkos and even a bearded dragon which would go home with her on the weekends so “he wouldn’t be alone”.
He actually would sleep on her children and I have many a photo of him, sometimes under a thin blanket, head sticking out, eyes closed, happy as Larry (as we’d say in the UK), right under the chins of whichever child happened to be reading or resting.
My daughter sourced the containers, appropriate vegetation, and food for each creature. Over two years she never lost a one. Her students adored that class, one even waking up one day shouting, “It’s Science Day!!” with great excitement…so reported by that child’s mother.
She’d take her classes outside to look for wildlife. Not much in Midland, you’d think, but the enthusiasm those kids applied to their often successful hunts was inspiring.
Had they found a little turtle like this, they would have been over the moon. He’s a beauty, and I’m so glad you posted your joyous story. Which has given ME a happy moment of sanity. As I said, its always the little things which provide it. Thank you🤗

Your daughter sounds like an amazing mother and educator. Teaching lessons that aren’t bound by print.
Educating children how to use and explore their senses. Proving care and responsibilty with nature causes
it to flourish. Lessons that last a lifetime!

You want to control because you have no control of your own thoughts.
There lies a paradox, you cannot control others because your parameters are always changing, therefore you MUST control your own thoughts first or you will do insane things and they will increase until they destroy you because your lack of stability.
And God solves all that through a relationship with him, but it means you only control you and that influence is your mechanism for controlling others. Do as I do not as I say.
Does this fit a liberal mind, “do as I say not as i do” because they seek control of others not self? All stems from lack of God and as a side note…..insanity resides in hell, a given or a must. All hope is gone and your thoughts are your torment. Hope is a torment when there is none, love is torment, truth, when none are present.

The broken state of our country, its people, and the world we live in, will soon fade away. To save ourselves and our families, we must focus on the Lord to find the good amidst the chaos around us.
Without getting into the weeds of the geo-political forces that are in play in our country and the entire world, let me just say that there is a “perfect storm” brewing that may or may not be survivable, with everything being returned to “normal” anytime soon.
The world seems to be going down the well-worn path of One World Government/One World Dictator-ism again. Even though these “empires” never end well, our collective human sinful nature seems to be creating the same mistake made many times over the history of man…The Egyptian, Roman, Grecian, Assyrian, Babylonian Empires…. European Colonialism, Czars in Russia, Hitler/Fascism, Stalin/Communism, Mao/Chinese Communism, and lately: Islamic Nation Building, even more lately, The Great Reset, One World Government, and Socialism/Equity/Equality.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea. We are about ready to tear our world down again in the name of Pride, Arrogance, and Corruption. It really seems like we never learn.
The wicked plot against the godly, they snarl at them in defiance. But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgement coming. Psalm 37:1-7/12-13
So, we must prepare for the trials and tribulations that very well could be upon us shortly…We must be able to discern what is happening around us and plan accordingly for our spiritual and physical survival…
Notice the similarities between our world of today and the world of the prophet Micah in 686BC, before the Assyrian and Babylonian invasions of Israel.

In an age, when religion was making little difference in people’s lives, Micah said that God expected his people to do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with him.
He requires the same of Christians today. In a world that is unjust, we must act justly, and do what is right. In a world full of pride and self sufficiency, we must walk humbly with God. Only when we live according to God’s way, will we begin to affect our homes, our society, and our world.
So this is our call to get right with God now, so that we may do the good things that are necessary to be prepared for the trials ahead, and the eventual victory over evil that the good Lord has promised over the ages….
The Lord said to Joshua as he was preparing to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land:
“No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you, as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people. Study this Book of Instruction continually. This is a prayer I wrote ten years ago, and it still applies to me, as well as all of us: weak and full of sinful failings and frailties:
Lord, thank you for showing me and teaching me the futility of worry about the past, and the foreboding darkness of the future days. Lord, you have taught me that, even though I have sinned and made many bad decisions in the past, you are a forgiving and loving God to those who believe in you, and wait on you, to bring good out of even my worst mistakes. Lord, I trust you to lead me by the hand through the trials of these coming days, and teach me your ways, on our path through this broken world, that leads to your Glory in Heaven.
Blessed are you, Lord, my God, King of the Universe, Prince of Peace…
Real-Life British Guy Explains The King’s Coronation
Well Treehousers I am going to see if I can turn this biochar generation business into a reality. By cutting grass for Seasoned Citizens who can’t really afford the service in these trying times, I will be able to bag the clippings like we used to in the 80’s. It will be a ton of work to save and haul the clippings and other yard debris back to my house but in no time I will have quite the pile of free raw materials.
Once I scorch the semi composted material in a low oxygen environment(inverted 55 gal drum) it will be ready to add to lawns or garden soil. I will be able to sell it by the bucket full at the Flea Market and trade it with other gardeners for produce or plants that I don’t have. Eventually I will start treating the lawns of the snooty who still insist on the fool’s errand of trying to maintain the invasive species St. Agustine as turf. They would be pleased with my bill having thrown good money after bad with multinational chemical spray companies that could never get their grass to grow properly.

Scots Irish, Welsh, Native American, Eastern European Jewish.. My maternal grandmother did 20 years worth of genealogy on that side of the family. She began her work in the 1960’s well before the interwebs and DNA testing. Life in Texas would almost be unbearable without AC for most.
