This was fascinating to watch.
The audience was uniformly pro-Trump but did ask a few fairly hardball questions, and President Trump mostly answered them. I did not like his answer on federal legislation on abortion at all. He downplayed the holding of the Court that the Constitution does not grant the federal government any power in this area. The answer that he would be open to federal legislation was disappointing.
What was most fascinating was the demeanor and presentation of Collins. It was almost as if she was trying to come off as an NPC robot. Her repeated assertions of dogma, often while talking over the President, added up to a robotic “I’m afraid I can’t let you say that” – even when he called her out directly on having been told what she could and could not allow to be said. None of which stopped President Trump from saying the election was rigged, probably ten times or more.
She was unlikable, robotic, unsmiling, and void of any response other than naked assertions.
I wonder whether, if you ran this whole program through an assessment as a deprogramming exercise, you would find that the Trump team wrote the whole script.
I wonder how many regular CNN viewers watched, and how many of them ended the night having had a faint recognition th as t Collins is nothing more than a programmed talking robot.
Seen in that light, you would be justified asking the question, who is really in control of what CNN is now showing?

I think it was the audience composition that raised the most questions for me. A CNN production without a liberal white woman or a BLM activist posing gotcha questions?

The townhall is live on CNN and president Trump was asked of he would sign a national ban on abortion bill. You’ll have to see the clip later if you want to know how he answered. His response was nuanced.
No President can sign a law either banning or legalizing abortion nationwide because the Supreme Court ruled it’s a state not federal decision!
He actually answered it in the beginning, as far as his personal opinion goes.
And he acknowledges that it will take more than simply his “personal opinion”.
I actually thought he did a great job on the Abortion question. Was a bit worried about how he’d handle that one.
He is happy with the law. It needs to be with the states.
Oh Katy. He did. He said that everyone has their own opinion on what is the “best” time to allow legal abortions. Now, with the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the momentum is headed towards pro-life people. Some want zero abortions, some want some abortions, and some want to kill babies that were just born.
Now, they can all get together and butt heads on the issue and come up with legislation. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THEY NEGOTIATE. HE CANNOT SEE INTO THE FUTURE.
Maybe it will be 15 weeks, maybe 8 weeks, maybe 12 weeks if incest, rape, life of mother, maybe exceptions for babies that won’t make it to full gestation, maybe, maybe, maybe.
He cannot say definitely YES or definitely NO until THEY hammer out a deal.

He wanted a chance to actually tell the audience what the Dem policies have become–several states allow a woman to decide to abort minutes before delivery and several lobbyists, here and in the UK want the woman to be able to have an actual born baby killed as lons as it is killed before she leaves the hospital.
