The strategies we see in lawfare are not new, they’ve been used in destruction-of-the-family courts for decades. One parent is allowed to repeatedly interfere in parenting time, to cause constant strife and chaos, to endlessly waste the other parent’s time, money and energy in constant court theatrics, to use the children as pawns all while the court uses extortion as the tool (ransom to see the children is just one aspect of the extortion),

The stated fear is that snowpack melt off, there is over 50 feet in some areas, is going to flood California worse than when the storms came through and caused a lot of damage earlier this year.
The most impacted areas that I know of were along the Consumnes and Pajaro rivers, where there are no dams, so no place to store and control the water flow.
The Pajaro area (sits on border of Monterey and Santa Cruz counties) is sad. Low-income farm workers were the most impacted, the levee broke, but that has been a ongoing issue over the years, and no $ or solution has been put into place.
The Wilton area on the Consumnes, the most impacted area along that river, is known to overflow the banks, and the ranchers/farmers in that area all have their homes built above flood level. The fields may flood, but damage is minimal. They are prepared and are aware of this possibility happening.
I live in the Sacramento area and was watching the lake levels when the “atmospheric rivers” came through. Folsom lake was able to be actually lowered, even during the longest and heaviest downpours, so there is the capability to release water even though there is a huge amount of inflow.
I am in no way an expert, but I do not trust the current philosophy of releasing the amounts of water that is presently occurring, in order to prepare for the coming runoff. That is their spiel, but I think it is more in line that we will be rationing water again by late August.
I had not looked at Millerton, thanks for the info. Shasta is 3′ below full pool level while Oroville is 10′ and Folsom is 13′ from the top. The Sacramento, American and Feather Rivers are all running high, straight into the Delta. Thinking the smelt must be happy while the saltwater intrusion folks are not.
