I watched…and listened verrry carefully to…the entire Coronation.
I found myself embroiled in many emotions all tangled up, many of them disturbing. Most especially dealing with the now apostate (as I see him) Archbishop, who was eager to include all faiths as equal, and his new one…an inappropriate and enthusiastic focus on nature as a god in itself. Add in the multiple nods to diversity.
Christ and Almighty God seemed to be second and not supreme to those in his sermon.
I’ll say this more than once I’m sure, but I was expecting many things which once were but are no more. Another reminder that nothing stays the same. The only certainty is change.
And like others who have gone before, I am one who despairs of most of them which portend nothing good.
Oh and this…the music was simply splendid. Even the new compositions which were commissioned for the occasion. All lovely, all uplifting. Perhaps the most redeeming part of the service.

What I like about him is that I think he really believes that his position is to serve, not to be served. Some of them I agree with; some I don’t. That’s life. But the idea that he filled that church with the people from his charities rather than from his social circles did impress me.

As I said, some of his charities we won’t agree with. But he puts his heart into people. Not famous ones. Just ordinary ones. Camilla might be one of the reasons. Even though he has gone more green to please his father and reapproach with him, his basic stance is service. He got his hands dirty in the ambulance corps and stayed with it a long time. Now he’s taking his son to meet the homeless and listen to their stories. His mother took him and he’s preparing the next generation to serve. He shows up unexpectedly at times and he knows that the time he takes with each person will be cherished as a memory. He’s giving himself, not preening at his self-importance. I wish him well and hope his ideals bring him peace.
Thought the ceremony was FAR more religious than I expected. Would have preferred more time spent on the symbols of monarchy being transferred. The one touch and away made them seem almost inconsequential.
I was looking at YouTube about cats last night (wanted to see if Rachel and. Jun had a new cat video) and somehow started watching a video of an interview with Princess Anne (interviewed by a Canadian about the upcoming coronation). I knew nothing about her except she works hard. I enjoyed the Interview and was struck by one thing she said, which is the monarchy is about continuity.
I know the Queen believed this but when she said it I thought more in terms of them continuing but didn’t think deeply about it. When Princess Anne said this, I think she meant the continuing of a civilization, which in a sense is what Neil Oliver is getting at in the podcast Sundance posted today.
I guess what she said hit me hard because I’m mourning the loss of all I hold dear about our civilization. Then watching Charles today I had the thought that his beliefs are the opposite. The changes he wants will destroy that civilization (his build back better crap, not his charity work).
Never thought I’d think this, but I can see the value of a monarchy in the sense of Anne’s comment.
Very interesting observation. I enjoy a powerless monarchy because it pulls people together. It isn’t expressing a political position, just a union. What the right form of government is, I no longer know. I would have thought ours. I don’t think that anymore. We’ve learned that it’s a slippery slope between a democratic/republican government and the tyranny of a small minority oppressing the majority thru censorship and propoganda. So what government would protect individuals? I just don’t know anymore. So I’ll respect a powerless monarchy that, at least, pulls its citizens together under that union.

I got up at 6 to watch the Coronation and loved it. BBC had almost no commentary, so it was possible to just enjoy the ceremony. Loved the human being aspect of royalty as the camera captured their expressions thruout. Thoroughly enraptured by Kate and the kids. Thought George did a standup job for an 8 year old and that Charlotte’s outfit was spectacular. Wish we could have seen Kate’s. SO impressed that Camilla had her rescue Jack Russells embroidered on her gown, as well as weaving in the names of her children and grandchildren. The dress will be saved for history, and those kids with it. Thought the crowns were going to end up on the floor. They looked heavy. Loved the story of Charles being put to bed by his mother wearing hers to get used to the weight before her Coronation Day. All in all, a feel good event.

For decades now, “The Moldau” has been one of my favorite classical pieces. I can picture the river flowing through the countryside… along meadow, over the waterfalls, the rippling rapids and gentle swirls. However, the ending has also always somewhat bothered me.. I can picture the river’s waters flowing into the sea… mingling with the ocean, but the last two notes have always bothered me. I personally think it would have been better to simply let the orchestral piece fade out… just as the river does, being engulfed by the ocean waters

Most glaciers in Glacier National Park are actually growing. Tony Heller shows some examples very once in a while.
Their climate models suck. Every single one of them. Their weather models accuracy is poor more than three days out and yet they claim to be able to accurately project what all aspects of the climate, from temperatures to sea levels, will be decades into the future.
But what do you expect? They can’t even get past weather correct. And it is not just this country, it is nearly all of the developed nations which are playing that game.

English Children, even those in the south, know what snow is.

I’m a big Arrowwood Viburnum fan. They are great bird friendly, hardy (tolerate shade and full sun/dry spots etc). Only knock on them is they are not evergreens. Always think “native plants” for your area. If you plant the right trees/shrubs/flowers and have water source, you will attract the birds. Let us know how you make out with your landscaping.
Colkitto, learned by accident, with a Viburnum macrocephalum, Chinese Snowball, finally grown to about 15′, multi-trunk, I pruned the lower branches off to about 5.5′. Huge gift. Tiny song birds, many types, landed at the zone where bare trunks met remaining foliage, awaiting their turn at my birdbath.
Realized they felt safe there, obscured from predators. Not obscured from me! That tree is at the baywindow.
Proudest moment with that tree, an UPS truck was whizzing thru the neighborhood, and stopped cold, seeing me in the front yard. He asked, WHAT IS THAT TREE !!!! It was in peak bloom. (If you don’t know this tree, the blossoms look like Hydrangea blossoms, big, round, showy.)

Love the story. I am a Viburnum addict. If smaller more rounded shrubs are your style or situation Blue Muffins are Arrowwood Viburnums sp but you have to have some cross pollinators like the straight arrowood viburnum sp somewhere else on your property. They were excellent along a driveway with a smaller space that I planted. The Mockingbird would guard them leaving the beautiful blue berries until the Robin/migrant waves would overwhelm him in late september. They are tough once established after 2 years. Full sun/drought tolerant/somewhat deer resistant as well. Only minus is its deciduous

Mononlabe, she indeed is working today… so you’ll be sharing with her in Spirit. Thank you for supporting the brand. I was rather surprised at the quality of their ingredients they use. They exercise great care! Did you know they use sea salt for flavoring and if any is left over.. they dispose of it after 5 days and replace with fresh? I use sea salt all the time and would never think to only use “fresh”.

Dear Molonlabe, deep gratitude extended for you posting these garden pics. After receiving ridiculous USA horticulture degree, knew to head off to Europe and study historic gardens. Little knowing it would become a 2 decade tutorial.
30+ years now, designing gardens, each stuffed with those European studies. Their format, maximum food for soil, plantings, wildlife, human. Human scaled to teach us myriad lessons from across the Bible, our body/brain/soul in tandem with God’s great plans.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Beautiful. I love my Bluebirds. I really appreciate them as where I used to live they were nearly extirpated from my county until a birder put up some boxes in a park with the appropriate habitat and had a local bird group literally guard them and inform people about them before it became safe for them to be undisturbed. My neighbor, who was like another grandmother to me and introduced me to birds, told me, as she was one of the first houses built in the town where I grew up, how the bluebirds would line up on the wire by the ten’s before my families house was built and there were orchards,farms, and fields long before.

American Redstart. Saw one of these beautiful Warblers yesterday by my waterfall. First one I have ever seen in this yard. My old woods they breed and once you knew their call they were on the kinda common side there. They are usually high up in the trees so usually hard to spot. The one I saw yesterday had come down to look at the waterfall. The sound of running water draw them in. I felt blessed/honored he stopped by and let me see him. Keep your eyes peeled Treepers, its migration time and you never know what you will/can see.

One of the intrigues of the Swiss Alps is to hear your voice come back to you in the echoes. There are even guided tours to the Echo Trails. Think of it—your small voice creating a sound that reverberates off the huge mountains.
David writes in Psalm 8 of the glory of God in the heavens, the moon and stars set in place by “the work of [His] fingers” (v.3). In Psalm 19, David writes, “The heavens declare the glory of God… their voice goes out through all the earth… in them he has set a tent for the sun…[which] runs its course with joy” (vv. 1, 4-5).
However, in Psalm 29 David compares the voice of the Lord to the thunder in a huge storm, its sound pounding off the mountainsides with such intensity that you can only think of God’s power and majesty and strength. You stand in awe.
The Lord gives comfort in times of danger. Elijah heard God in a low whisper, after strong winds, an earthquake, and fire (1 Kings 19:3-13). Problems arise in the night, in the heat of the day, and in the midst of storms, but the last two verses of Psalm 29 provide comfort; God has strength to give to His people, and He will “bless his people with peace” (v. 10-11). It is your heritage, the outward peace, the inner peace, and everlasting peace in Glory. It is yours to claim.
