‎5/‎4/‎2023 – Law is not laid out for righteous, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinful . . .

1 Timothy 1:8-11 “Now we know that the law is good, if anyone use it lawfully, knowing this, that law is not enacted (laid out) for righteous, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinful, for unholy and profane (permitted to be trodden, unhallowed), for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for murderers, for fornicators (men who prostitute themselves), for them that defile themselves with mankind (a male engaging in same-gender sexual activity, homosexual relations between men and boys, sodomites), for menstealers (a dealer in slaves, an enslaver, one who forcibly enslaves, a kidnapper), for liars (a person who falsifies, misrepresents, distorts, misleads), for perjured persons (false swearers, who lie under oath), and if there be any other thing that is contrary to (lies opposite to oppose, resist, place fully against) sound doctrine; according to the glorious Gospel of the Blessed God, which was committed to my trust.”

God did not need to lay out the law for Noah, or Abraham His friend; for they were already righteous men. But the lawless and insubordinate children of Israel, the those in whom was no faith; they needed to learn the fear of God; to have written plainly before them for a witness, what is His character and nature and Spirit, so they could worthily be His people. 

Abel, Enoch, Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses . . . all these showed the work of the law written in their hearts, and needed not for God to “lay down the law” with them. But the children of Israel were not of the same spirit as their father Abraham, and were not ‘naturally’ friends with God; so they had to have it spelled out, WRITTEN IN STONE BY THE FINGER OF GOD; both for teaching and convicting them, while also providing instruction unto Christ, for them to be saved; even while they were yet ‘naturally’ sinners, and enemies of God. Through the giving of the law, God was presenting a glimpse into the coming grace through Christ, for any who had a heart inclined to understand. “But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law.” The giving of the law was not intended as the final state between God and His people, but for a sign and instruction unto that which He had in His heart for the thing aimed at.

Romans 2:13-15 “For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.”

John 3:19-21 “This now is the judgment, because the Light has come into the world, and men loved more the darkness than the Light, truly then were their deeds evil; for everyone practicing evil hates the Light and comes not to the Light, that his works not be exposed; the [one] however practicing the truth comes to the Light that his works may be manifest that in God have been done.”

Galatians 5:16-25 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would. But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” There is no wisdom or understanding apart from the word of God. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge; and what is at the root of setting in order our account before Him, and maintaining a good conscience. Faith works by love out of a pure heart; and cannot have anything in it for the intent of misleading as to its real condition with God, nor tolerate any misrepresenting the truth. “For if our heart and conscience condemn us, God is greater than our heart and conscience, and knows all things.” And it is in the degree that God sees us walking in our integrity, that He keeps us from sinning against Him.

The same which works for the Born Again believer unto salvation and blessing and glory, at the same time works also in the other unto damnation. For us who believe, Christ is our Sanctuary and Strength to endure to the end as overcomers; but to those who refuse, He is made a Stone of stumbling, for them to fall. We fall on this Stone, and are broken; but upon those that it shall fall, it will grind them to powder. The word of God and His Spirit in our hearts and minds, is the Light of our eyes to walk safely through this evil world. But with every one who has a sick and diseased eye toward the word and the Spirit of Christ, they cannot know or understand anything at all, except what they know naturally, as irrational animals; in those things which they corrupt themselves, and defile the image of God in them.

Brothers and Sisters, let us help our shy young men.

A few months ago I saw a posting on another site where someone referred to a guy as an “Incel”. I looked it up. It means a young man who has given up on having a girlfriend, because he is consistently rejected. So he hangs out with guys and plays computer games. Yes, I agree that high school and beyond can be brutal if you are not an alpha male. And I can see why some guys would give up trying to establish a sincere, long term relationship hopefully leading to marriage. But Our Father wants men and women to join together as one, and raise productive children who love the Lord, and stand for what is right. So let me tell you how our young guys can get this done, with minimal emotional beatings.

First let me say that I am not a psychiatrist or therapist. But I have done a lot of outreach at juvenile hall, and have spoken with many young people going thru rough times. Also, when I started high school in the 60s, I was about the least desirable object of affection you can imagine. I weighed 118 pounds, yet my hat size was 7 7/8. I wore thick “coke bottle” glasses, with the only frames available: ugly. A teacher had finally noticed in the 8th grade that I was always squinting at the blackboard. I had never been able to see it. So I finally got glasses, but was far behind academically. My clothes were raggedly, and I had a nonfunctioning family, which lead to anger issues and emotional immaturity. In short, I was not ready for the world of male/female social relationships!

But eventually in my late 20s I found out that by following three straightforward steps I could operate successfully in the world of relationships, and interact with a sufficient number of the opposite sex that there would be a certain amount of “wife material”. Any young man can do what I did, and probably better. Let’s start with step one:

Lift weights to develop your body. You do not have to look like Arnold. You can do it at home or at a gym. Most important are arms, chest, shoulders. You do not want bulk. Trim, athletic, muscular. All women, whether they know it or not, are attracted to muscle because it communicates that the guy can provide for them and protect them. It is a kind of survival mechanism from more primitive times. A focused, intense one hour work out every other day is sufficient, but more will bring faster results. Later you will need good fitting clothing for the new body. Why did Eve speak with the serpent? Could it have been the coiling muscles? (joke).

I help my friend’s son with his exercise routine, but he is doubtful. I said to him, Robert? Wouldn’t you say that I am an old man with wispy grey hair? Yes, he replied. And my face, more handsome or ugly? He answered that it was definitely leaning ugly. Then I explained: Robert, you know for years I volunteer at the church thrift shop, which is frequented by older ladies. This week two of them found reasons to give me big hugs that went on a little too long. One asked me if I was married. One held up a nightgown to her substantial chest and inquired if I thought it would fit her in an attractive way. Another confided to me that she was not wearing underwear. Why do you think I get this attention (not exactly unwelcome)? He answered that these were basically lonely women seeking attention. Perhaps, I replied. But when the weather cools again, I will put away the athletic fit sports shirts and go back to pendletons and sweaters. I will then again become invisible.

Next: Learn to dance. Most women love to dance. Most alpha males don’t care to, imo. When I learned to dance there were no social dance classes, dance DVDs, or you tube. I took tap (for movement), observed others, and practiced. Yes there was Arthur Murray, if you were rich. You can teach yourself. Plenty of material. Take a zumba class just for movement, for example. No, you do not have to become a ballroom dance. Learn popular dances. Salsa and other latin dances are good (study Cuban motion), and dance moves are often interchangeable. On the days you are not lifting, work on your moves. Try to move in rhythm. Go dancing. You will learn how to move around the floor and how to guide your partner. You have to work at it, it takes time, but you only have to become competent, not great. Its good fun, and yes women will ask you to dance. Also, if you are like me, not a smooth talker, dancing makes up for it, and fills in awkward silences.

Last: Do something to improve yourself. Set a goal of accomplishing something significant. Yes, a confidence builder, and when she asks you what you are doing in the summer, you don’t have to answer that you are cleaning out a barn or playing Call of Duty, you can say, for example, that you are taking classes in geo technology. Hint: you are signaling that you are husband material.

JUDGMENT ON THE ABYSS OF LOVE
 
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.” 1 Peter iv. 17
 
The Christian worker must never forget that salvation is God’s thought, not man’s; therefore it is an unfathomable abyss. Salvation is the great thought of God, not an experience. Experience is only a gateway by which salvation comes into our conscious life. Never preach the experience; preach the great thought of God behind. When we preach we are not proclaiming how man can be saved from hell and be made moral and pure; we are conveying good news about God.
 
In the teachings of Jesus Christ the element of judgment is always brought out, it is the sign of God’s love. Never sympathize with a soul who finds it difficult to get to God, God is not to blame. It is not for us to find out the reason why it is difficult, but so to present the truth of God that the Spirit of God will show what is wrong. The great sterling test in preaching is that it brings everyone to judgment. The Spirit of God locates each one to himself.
 
If Jesus ever gave us a command He could not enable us to fulfill, He would be a liar; and if we make our inability a barrier to obedience, it means we are telling God there is something He has not taken into account. Every element of self-reliance must be slain by the power of God. Complete weakness and dependence will always be the occasion for the Spirit of God to manifest His power.

A dictator is a political leader possessing absolute power. The term originated in the Roman Republic where the position was created as a temporary grant to handle emergency situations. Over time, history tells the tales of many rulers who would be called dictators. These individuals have brought about the most brutal crimes against humanity in their quest for power. God’s Kingdom is quite the opposite.  

God does not grasp for power as ruler over the universe. He is sovereign by right of His place outside of time, the all-knowing, all-powerful, Creator. While He has the unquestionable right to govern, the way He rules stretches the imagination. His rule is peace.   

Dictators force allegiance and oppress people. God does not. In His grace, He does not overthrow your human will. He allows each person to choose the master of their own soul. Many claim that position for themselves believing they can design their own destiny. However, human power is small, and no one has the ability to save himself. Without the Lord Jesus, humankind is defeated and condemned to suffer the wages of sin in death.   

God’s Kingdom is built upon grace, and His Son rules in peace. All who enter His gates experience the overcoming resurrection strength which replaces the bondage of sin. Pray for those holding positions of authority in America to carefully consider whether they are trying to save themselves or looking to God for their salvation and hope. Ask that many will welcome the rule of the Prince of Peace in their life and work.

BE MY VOICE

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
