I started doing the tread mill back in December for an injury.
Tommy Rivs a well know marathon runner, who is still recovering from two years of cancer and COVID has some great recovery programs. I got this MLK quote from one of his workouts and it now is my daily mantra regardless of what kind of day it is for me or for America.

Since the collusion between big business and big gov’t manipulating the public with the online enabling provided by big tech has been a major topic here, I thought this would be appropriate.
The topic of AI and Chat AI has been in the news lately because both Elon Musk, Microsoft and other power players see this to be a big money maker with the general public now ready to swallow whatever new “app” that is put before them.
It has been under testing for some time and I, as I’m sure many of you, have had encounters with it.
My experiences have been 100% negative from the AI phone systems that require you to “Speak or say what you are calling about”.
I either get a “I didn’t understand that, can you rephrase the question?” or “Let’s try it differently”.
Every time, after spending 20 or 30 minutes on what should have been a 2 minute call, I end up screaming into the phone “I WANT TO TALK TO A F*CKIN HUMAN!!!!” and then end up hanging up. (Sometimes I just want to know if they have an item in stock)
The same thing has happened to me with online “Chat” functions on web sites.
Their robotic AI system never has the answer to the question that I asked but it will keep you tied up for 30 minutes while you (slowly) go back and forth with it and never getting an answer.
The car site Carvana.com gave me a offer for my car that was more than I was looking to get but the only contact is through AI and there was no way through either email, text or phone that I could make contact with a human that could answer the question “How and when would I get my money?” so I had to abort the transaction.
Basically, the same thing happened with EBAY. Because my car was priced higher than EBAY (and I assume Paypal) dollar limits allow, the Chatbot could answer no questions about how EBAY would get their “cut” of the sales price.
After TWO HOURS of babbling with their Chatbot, I finally reached a human that admitted that I would have to give EBAY access to my bank account so they could withdraw the money.
After all the data leaks I’ve seen from online retailers, That’s not going to happen, but they will fight you tooth and nail to not tell you this.
For a while I thought that businesses were shooting themselves in the foot and were going to lose customers with this AI garbage but I think they have a deeper motive than the cost savings of not answering the phone.
Fewer and fewer applications have both a ‘Accept’ and a ‘Decline’ button. You either click on ‘Accept’ or you have to abort the transaction and I think that THIS is the real goal of the CHAT AI push from big business, not to make it more efficient but to put the consumer in a corner where they can’t ask the questions that they need to ask to make an informed decision. Due diligence, right?
I can see a situation where the consumer want’s to know why they were charged $8,500. for a product that was represented to them to cost a total of $400. and the online retailer claiming that the consumer “Failed to do their “due diligence” and therefore, it’s the consumers own fault for not asking the right questions before clicking ‘Accept’, when the retailer knows that there’s no way for them to do that.
I no longer have faith in our court system to rein in this type of fraud.
Sorry for the length but I would like to hear if others are having the same experience so maybe some push back could get started before it gets any worse.
I have 2 solar systems on my house. They were installed by two different companies and one bought the other. The first one auto bills my credit card. The second one will not bill my credit card but will only auto bill to my bank account. I don’t let anybody do that. So, every month I have to manually go on their site and pay the bill to my credit card. Very frustrating.
I absolutely detest the fancified answering machines that most companies insist on using to answer the phone. They are totally useless and destructive to my peace!
Add my 2 cents: On auto phone intakes, I just yell “customer service.”
Huge waste of time, not to mention all the errors.
Every doctor, dentist, business, beauty salon now wants you to use their new “portal,” or their “app.” They are invariably hard to use, not to mention your 365th to the nth password to track. Designed by someone who’s never interacted with a human being.
I now reply: “I don’t do portals or apps, way too many now, and too hard to use. You’ll have to call me.”

Brace1272, my idea of hell is being stuck on one of those answering machine loops. They don’t help the customer so much as they cut costs for the company. Customer service has declined sadly in my lifetime.
Switchboard hell. I have even been known to scream my head off at a machine and even use foul language.
For companies which treat you with disdain through their badly designed phone (non)service, stop doing business with them.
There is an old joke which I have used here before in such cases:
A man goes to the doctor, swings his arm in an unusual way, and says:
“Doctor, it hurts when I do that!”
Doctor: “Don’t do that. That will be 5 dollars please!” (Yes, $5.00: I said it was an old joke!)
Your problem with Carvana and Ebay has a simple solution: Don’t do business with online robots!!!
If you want to talk with a human being about cars, don’t deal with online companies. Go to your local dealers: plenty of sales people there will be glad to talk with you.
In essence, walk away from such companies and eventually they will get the point!
Like the doctor’s cure in the joke, my advice is the same for those whining about themselves or their children being bullied on Tok-Tik or FarceBook or whatever:
“Don’t use FarceBook. Tok-Tik, etc.”
Ausonius: It’s my policy to dump companies that have lousy phone systems or web sites. The worst companies make it difficult, if not impossible, to find a phone number on a website.

The reason I don’t go to dealers is because the only way they will give you a fair price on your car is if you trade it in on a car that they can make up the price on.

Yes. Like Brace, we don’t let anyone into our bank account. We have to drive to the bank and pay a small fortune for money orders and we really can’t afford that but we also can’t afford the corporate theft that we have experienced.
Eventually age will force us into this inhumane, difficult to navigate system. So far, pretty much every time I have to deal with it they never have the option that I need and doing battle with it is very time consuming and drives the blood pressure up. Most Doctors offices I leave a message that I’m quitting practices that can’t have a human answer the phone.
The customer service island at most any grocery store (true here; investigate this locally yourself) will sell money orders for far less than banks; for large amounts you may have to buy 2-3 but it’s still cheaper than buying one at a bank. Most people have to go to a grocery store anyway… while you’re there for other purchases, remember to get your money orders; it saves both $$$ and an extra trip to a bank.
The MO’s from the bank will replace your $ if lost or stolen. Bank is in supermarket.
The way around those insufferable answering machine recordings is… say noting to it except “Representative”
No matter what question it asks, your answer must be “Representative”; *ignore everything it says* to you…
after about only 3-4 questions/you repeating “Representative” it will connect you with a live Human being.
“REPRESENTATIVE” is the only word appropriate to speak to that kind of nonsensical BS when you just want to talk to a person from the beginning.
Likewise, when a solicitation call interrupts your life, the only appropriate words to speak are:
“Take this name & number off your call list permanently.”
Repeat as many times as necessary, but *say only this one phrase*; if they don’t thank you/terminate/hang up after the 3rd statement, I do just hang up – your clear instruction is on their record.
WHY GO ROUND & ROUND WITH THAT IDIOCY??? Keep engaging if you like the irritations…just know that it’s your choice to do so.
I use the word “Agent,” repeatedly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

It is crazy out there for there really is no customer service anymore, unless you just happen to have their actual business building close by.
Believe it or not I will use it for both complaints and pats on the back, especially if they actually did something about the issue.
Actually I do believe that the stupid AIs have made being a live customer service rep even a worse job then it ever was back in the day. Majority of people who call have a question or are upset about something happening with their product, whether it be a small or big issue. However, after spending 3 to 5 mins punching buttons to finally be told that you will finally be directed to the first customer service usually escalates any issue it was regardless of how minor.
It no long the 5 to 60 min wait for a customer service person, for you just put your phone on speaker & go about your business, its the nasty often confusing push buttons to finally get to the wait.
Auto pay–Damn I only have two, which is actually two too many. About 30 years ago we got a $3000 dollar electric bill for one month. Could you imagine if that had been on auto pay?? After 3 months of fighting the problem was found, the meter was going 90 miles an even when all electricity was shut down. So far in my 10 or so years of stupidity having auto pay on a couple of accounts I have luckily only been double charged only twice.
Usually the calls are recorded so I always take my time when I finally get a human and inform them that I am speaking for the benefit of the supervisor listening in and then I go on a diatribe about customer service and how making customers angry fighting the machine before they get a human creates a hostile work environment and causes employee burnout/turnover plus the constant stress of not being given time to log the customers account properly due to mandates forcing employees to compete to handle the most calls results in poor record keeping . . . the employees love it.
Usually the first words out of my mouth are sorry for my agitation for its not you fault, but due to all the mess to get to you I am now more agitated then when you finally picked up my call.
Often things do go better from there!
But then there are those times where you get the rep from H3LL or the overseas rep who might speak English but doesn’t understand English or their accent is so heavy they can’t be understood.

So how do these policies compare to Republicans today? Hell, he’s probably more conservative than our RINO’s.

These people very obviously have a massive civil lawsuit for actions that were perpetrated against them “under color of law.” The law was used against them as a weapon, and they suffered grievous actual damages thereby.
