I made a Coffee cake mix by Manishevitz that is absolutely incredible. They also make a Honey Cake mix that is unique and spectacular . They had them out for Passover so I bought a bunch.
Ironically they are made in Newark NJ. A place that the Democrat’s took over and destroyed where I have many good and bad memories.
So a great morning, sun is out, birds are singing (some warblers on migration) drinking my coffee and my cake. And I get to say hi to some amazing people here on the Treehouse. Some of whom I even consider long lost cousins!
Life is good. Best to you Bet. And of course your circle of family & friend, all Treehouse, and all the good people of the world who are our friends and allies.

I am grateful, so grateful recalling moments such as you have described and are enjoying that I recognized how truly special they were, albeit in the spectrum of time I knew they were fleeting. Knowing it made me appreciate them all the more. And I paid rapt attention to “bookmarking” them for times which I knew would come but at the time seemed so far away, when their value would be even more precious…as now.
I said yesterday on the inflation thread how much of my sanity was saved by spending much of my time here on this site…and most especially on this beautiful thread which over the last months has “grown like Topsy”. I can’t help but believe that the prayer I offered long ago…that many more than the relative few who commented on this thread would be guided to it…was answered in the most glorious way. 🙏🏻
Our small but growing community of people with big hearts and loving souls. And one where I am certain Almighty God dwells amongst us. I actually felt an incredible peace and a Presence the other night after a day of hundreds of conversations here. Each branch dweller bringing so much to my life and I am sure the lives of others.

Teen daughter at her first job bright and early at 6 AM this morning (which meant awake at 5 AM). Having productive, uninterrupted “me” time is unprecedented!
Spent 3 hours updating my Will (no reason other than being a responsible parent)… now sitting with my Bible, journal, a non- alcoholic Bloody Mary with lots of veggies, and a sliced apple, cheese, and crackers in 70 degree bright sunshine and relishing it.
Celebrating this newfound freedom. Hoping she continues to love it and they love her.
Independence for both of us steadily and assuredly.

That is hysterical! Except I’d be afraid I’d squash the little turd. My two boys have this thing of watching me work from home at my big desk with cushy office chair. The minute I stand up… one of them immediately steals the chair from me. Then, I have to play musical chairs and move the other desk chair over and them out of the way – so I can continue working. They play this little musical chair game at the supper table too… much to the delight of my daughter. They sit in their respective chairs at the dinner table – like true family members should. Upright, no slouching.

I had to go back to yesterday’s “Open Thread” and I saw your post. Hearing your kind words really is humbling. (gettin’ a little misty over here!) We have very few people to tell us they are proud of us, so I tend to defer to The Lord’s Word for any kind of affirmations, sustenance, and striving.
This is uncharted territory for me – as she is my only child – so just the fact that she loves The Lord, is conservative in values and thoughts, seems to have a good handle on rationality – I am content and blessed.
Your thoughts about kids being self-sabotaging is incredibly poignant, because they are learning to be “victims” at school and I can’t stand it! Once the victimhood becomes engrained, they don’t feel they have any responsibility for their actions and feel immune to repercussions for bad choices – they can just fall back on “I’m a victim.”
From when Savannah was small and diagnosed at 9 years old – I never cut her any slack. When she was a little teeny girlie, her day care director told me that I “don’t speak to her as if she’s a baby”. Well, no… I didn’t. Once I found out she was a little girl in utero – and her name came to me in a dream – I’ve always spoken to my Savannah as if she had every opportunity afforded to her with no limitations – except to have good judgment.
Your reinforcement and Betsy’s and the other toe danglers on this Tree who have blessed us with their prayers is overwhelming. You will never realize how much that means to me. Thank you and I pray I can edify and support you all, as well, in whatever way I can. May God’s blessings overflow in your favor.
What a good point you make, sis. From the time mine were small I always spoke to them as adults…in tones anyway. Baby talk was nonexistent in our house starting at about 12 months. “Start as you mean to go on” was always my motto…that and “Manners Maketh Man”. 😎

A whole crew of ’em went after my big tree and sundry piles — turned my back yard from urban prairie to something more closely resembling a real yard. They were going up and down ladders and tree limbs with an agility that—ain’t foolin’ myself at almost 79—I no longer have.
I was speaking from several decades of working with both children and adults with cognitive deficits. Most were also ADD, ADHD, LD, autistic, depressed, etc. All of us (and I’ll include myself in that mix) have faced and will face stigma and discrimination. That’s where having a strong self-image will really pay off.
Awhile back when I first read your comments, I immediately realized that you understood how critical teaching your daughter to be emotionally strong was. I said then that you were doing everything right—and you are. Insuring that Savannah has a solid sense of who she is will be the best protection against the bigoted idiots who will show up in her life. So, when I said I was proud of you, I was speaking from a lot of experience. I absolutely meant what I said.

Joshua 1:2-3 “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.”
Joshua 5:13-15 “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a Man over against him with His sword drawn in His hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto Him, Art Thou for us, or for our adversaries? And He said, Nay; but as Captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto His servant? And the Captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.”
The Book of Joshua is to Moses, similar as the Book of Acts is to the Gospel Narratives. Although Moses was not permitted to enter into the promised land, and therefore complete the work that God had charged him with; so that Joshua brought them in and divided to them their inheritance; yet it was the completion of what God sent to be done for the children of Israel. Being delivered out of the cruel bondage of Egypt, and given the law and the priesthood, was for laying the Foundation, and establishing the Constitution, of the holy people of God in the earth, for the good of all nations, and the salvation of the world.
Moses and Joshua were types of Christ, the Anti type; who single-handed, perfectly completed all that the Father gave Him to do; to bring us out of the cruel bondage of sin and the world and the devil; to give us His holy law and priesthood; and to bring us into the kingdom of God, by His death, burial, and resurrection. By the blood of Jesus, and the power of His resurrection, He has made peace for us with God, so we can be made His sons and daughters, in His image and likeness.
But just as the children of Israel had to still go in themselves and do the work of the war, to take away the previous occupants, and every last trace of all their abominations; so it is for us likewise, to do the work of purification from all uncleanness, and all the abominations of the “former occupants.” The land which we seize in Jesus’ Name, is our sanctification and integrity and honor. The war we wage is of the discipline of God’s children, to “Be transformed by the renewing of our mind,” and showing our wisdom in doing according to the knowledge and understanding He has given us; demonstrating the grace of God, in keeping and doing all His commandments.
The Lord Jesus Christ has given to us all the promised land of the kingdom of God; by coming in the flesh, and laying down His life as our substitute, to die on the cross for our sins. By His precious shed blood, and by His yielding up His spirit in death, and going into the lower parts of the earth, and rising again and reviving the thrid day; Jesus has won absolute victory and deliverance, full reconciliation and acceptance and forgiveness and restoration to God, for all who believe in Him. But now it is up to us to go in and possess the land! We are the ones who have to utterly destroy all the previous occupants; and take away out of God’s sight, all their idols and abominations, and their names from of the face of the earth; with respect to ourselves.

The zeal of the Lord’s house must consume us, so that we leave nothing undone of all that Jesus has commanded us to do. No one lukewarm will be able ever to overcome all the things we are set to encounter, on our difficult, restricted, and traumatic way to eternal life. According to the measure of the Gift of Christ, must be the measure of our zeal and enthusiasm, and commitment to the sacred charge upon us; and in the end to be proven “fit for the Presence of God.”

BOC is a very unique and interesting band. Metallica did one of their songs for their Garage Days remakes. I really like their earlier stuff. The first cassette tape that went in my most fun car I had, my 280ZX was BOC.

He did so, with his hands up in the air in mid gesture, while the protesters came his right, passed behind him, and off the stage to the left.

So, desantis, when confronted with something abnormal, did not have a pre-programmed action, so stood there, instead of retreating off the stage, or taking a defensive posture.
Situational awareness. Trump first turned toward the danger and seemed ready to meet it head-on. A good part of this is pure instinct. I’d say Trump is a natural fighter whenever he is confronted. Pretty damned good for an old guy.
Evidently no serious people are interested in running the Great State of Florida. I am going fishing. Satan comes in peacefully & prosperously. His greatest deception is from those who teach he will cause murder & mayhem. Few will wait for the Prince of princes, most will believe He is already here.
Rev. 16:15 “...I come as a thief…” Then Jesus returns and destroys Satan’s deception. Not anticipated by most.
Rev. 11:15 “…seventh angel sounded…”The kingdoms of this world…become…kingdoms of our Lord...He shall reign for ever and ever.” Jesus comes at the 7th trump. Satan comes at the sixth, before Christ returns. It’s easy to understand, which is a testament to how clearly GOD teaches using similitudes. We know Satan comes at the 6th trump, we’re sealed with that knowledge. The 6th vial is Satan booted out of heaven by Michael, and appearing on earth to deceive everyone he can.

Satan the antichrist [instead of Christ] comes at the 6th trump, Jesus [True Christ] returns at the 7th trump, the 7th vial.
Why would a Christian want to leave? Jesus asked us to witness for His impending reign for all time! He explained no physical or spiritual harm will come to any who understand His words.
Luke 10:19 “...I give…you power to tread on serpents…nothing…shall hurt...” Satan is the head serpent, and we have power greater than his, through Christ. We can’t step on a rattler and not expect to be bitten. GOD doesn’t suffer fools, He provides wisdom.
Rev. 10:7 “…in the days of the…seventh angel…the mystery of God should be finished...” The ‘mystery’ Ps. 78:2 “dark sayings of old” as explained by Jesus in Mat. 13:35-42 “secret from the foundation“.

10:9 “Give me the little book.” Requiring action on our part to understand the mystery.

Recently, the people of France rioted in the streets. Were they angry that they had no food? Did they need medical provisions that were taken from them? No. They rioted because the government was anticipating a need to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. Maybe some protestors wanted more time to begin community service, helping others in different ways. However, the perception was that they wanted to enjoy the “good life.”
Often, what is considered the “good life” involves living in darkness. While for some the “nightlife” may be a draw, it is not just a time of day. Darkness is a way of life that may involve deception, immorality, or sins of the flesh, as well as crimes against others. Paul calls them the “unfruitful works of darkness” (Ephesians 5:11). He gives a long list of works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21.
Unfruitful works come from people who do not know the Lord, who have rejected God, whose lives are encompassed by the darkness of unbelief. As minister and medical doctor Martyn Lloyd-Jones wrote: “Charles Darwin… maintained that man was no special creation of God! – if there is a God at all – man stands at the end of a process! So the view of man becomes degraded; and men forget God.” This life of unbelief leads to destruction.
There is a reason Paul speaks of the unfruitful works of darkness versus the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). It is a matter of worth. Believer, you are light in the darkness to bear fruit as God’s witness. Be bold to testify of His truth, exposing the lies of evil. Then pray that the leaders in this nation do so as well.

Let’s clarify why the French people are angry. It is not because retirement age was raised 2 years from 62 to 64. They are angry at Macron for ignoring the procedure by which French law stipulates this must be done, which is through their democratic Parliament. He ignored it and simply ordered it via fiat. That’s tyranny and they are done with totalitarian diktats as have been happening since the covid hoax.
They have revolted against tyranny and we should not be mocking them for “only wanting to retire early.” Inflation is hurting them too but government is not working in the peoples best interest. Sound familiar?

I have chickens and three rosters across me. Two doors down to the south , on the other side of Steve’s they have chickens and two doors down to the north has chickens.
Yesterday while I was mowing the dominant rooster from across the street saw something he apparently liked or did not like at all at the neighbors two doors down to the north. He ran over there a good 70 yards across the road. And when I say run, I mean it! That bird is fast! No flapping, just sprinting.
I could not see what interested him over there but just figured he had seen a hen and was looking for some strange or decided he was going to let the rooster over there know who’s boss, or perhaps he thought they had found a food source and was going horn in on it.
About 15 minutes later I saw him strutting back home at a much more leisurely pace than when he went over there.
Never a dull moment when they let the chickens out.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

“But the high places were not taken away out of Israel; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.” 2 Chron. xv. 17
Asa was incomplete in his external obedience, he was right in the main but not entirely right. Beware of the thing of which you say – “Oh, that does not matter much.” The fact that it does not matter much to you may mean that it matters a very great deal to God. Nothing is a light matter with a child of God. How much longer are some of us going to keep God trying to teach us one thing? He never loses patience. You say – “I know I am right with God”; but still the “high places” remain, there is something over which you have not obeyed. Are you protesting that your heart is right with God, and yet is there something in your life about which He has caused you to doubt? Whenever there is doubt, quit immediately, no matter what it is. Nothing is a mere detail.
Are there some things in connection with your bodily life, your intellectual life, upon which you are not concentrating at all? You are all right in the main but you are slipshod; there is a relapse on the line of concentration. You no more need a holiday from spiritual concentration than your heart needs a holiday from beating. You cannot have a moral holiday and remain moral, nor can you have a spiritual holiday and remain spiritual. God wants you to be entirely His, and this means that you have to watch to keep yourself fit. It takes a tremendous amount of time. Some of us expect to “clear the numberless ascension” in about two minutes.

After this he appeared in another form to two of them walking along on their way to the country. They returned and told the others; but they did not believe them either.
But later, as the Eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised. He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”
Is Recycling dead? As of May 1, you will have to pay $144 a year to have your recycling picked up in Snellville Ga. If you do not pay they will take back their recycling bin and we do not have to separate our trash anymore. They cite the expense of recycling, but not where the money in taxes we paid for “free” recycling is going to be used for.

Bob – I have done some research on this topic a few months back and discovered that, for the most part, plastic recycling has lost its profit margin and thus collection of recyclable plastics is not considered to be an operation that can be offered for free.
Also the market for recycled paper products has dried up considerably and thus collection of recycled paper comes at a cost for most municipalities.
I have not found or read specific reports about glass and metal recycling markets so I won’t comment on them.
But so many municipalities offer “mixed” recycling pickup (because they got too much community pushback on separating recyclable materials) so the bulk of what households generate is plastic and cardboard/paper – and that is no longer free to dispose of by the municipal public works departments. So they are passing through their disposal costs to their business and residential customers.
Can’t remember whether this country or across the pond, regulations required separation of paper, plastics, glass, etc…with separate bins for each.
Someone watched the pickup, as the binmen dumped each receptacle into the same truck…

Oh Yes! That scenario has been repeatedly reported by angry residents – meticulously separating recyclables only to see them all dumped into the same truck bin.
My parents lived in an senior community in a central Florida town decades back that didn’t provide trash pickup. So residents had to transport their recycle and regular trash to large municipal dumpsters that were separated by type of materials. Now, what happened to those dumpsters no one ever hung around to see – so we only assumed they were dumped into separate trucks when they became full…..

Somebody sure has a hate/hate relationship with cats!
Wonder how much effort it took to make that parody?
And did they leave any grudges on the cutting room floor?
I have a Lorepetalum hedge on the side of my house where my bird feeder and where I place ground seed around (giving the birds cover from predators). It’s on the one side and is quite tall, being the only shrubs I left when I redid the landscaping as it provides excellent cover for the birds and is also quite pretty (it’s about fifteen feet tall and 10 wide within the fence.)
A pair of Cardinals are nesting in it this year, along with my returning Bluebirds to my hanging nest box which is on the other side of the yard.
I also may have a pair of Carolina Chickadees nesting in one of the Water Oaks in the yard as I saw one of them ‘borrowing’ material from a tear in my grill cover and than flying up to the middle of the tall Oak.
Main migration hasn’t passed through yet, though I do hear some Yellow-Rumped Warblers in my yard right now. Slainte to everyone. Keep your eyes and ears open for migration.

Hi molon. They are evergreens and are quite beautiful. They are excellent sun/heat/drought tolerant shrubs that the birds love for cover, and for nesting. I went out yesterday to clean out and fill my 3 bird baths, and the nesting female Cardinal scolded me for the feeder being empty as it makes it much easier for her to grab some seeds and than fly about 15 back to the hedge to sit on her nest. I thought it was hilarious her drama to get my attention and tell me off!
When I rescued a Brown Thrasher nestling last spring that was headed to a dangerous and open spot at my neighbors, I picked the baby up and placed it in my backyard where all the cover and safety is. The parent thanked me with a gorgeous song. Animals communicate with us, most just don’t look or see it. Cheers my friend

One of the main characters is a giant Cat Llyan who is used as a steed and companion of the group of friends. One is also a sasquatch type of creature. They also have a talking Crow with them. Some of the “Gentry” help them also. Also known to most as Fairie.
They are based on the excellent Welsh Mabinogion. I have ties to Glamorgan Wales and some of my ancestors were Bards. I try to re-encourage interest in these excellent books. You are never to old to re-read them.

Just saw a bunny in our backyard that looked like the one in the picture!
I just had a discussion about the older cartoons.
They had classical music for background music, which they don’t have in today’s cartoons.
It introduced youngsters to classical music.
When they got into music classes, they would remember the tunes heard from the cartoons.
So fun…dear Bugs is supposed to be a fond caricature of Leopold Stokowski in his later years. Even when I was small and watching this cartoon, I knew it.

Not casting dispersions on Ron, but the more I watch the two women with the Jews sign at the event in NH yesterday, the less it looks real. Why Jews? Maybe it was, but it just didn’t have your standard nose ring pink haired tranny screaming about Gay rights for Florida or an ugly woman demanding the right to kill you kid in Florida which one would expect. But it reminded me of a scene with Kelsey Grammer in the series The Boss. Anyone watch that? In the scene, The Boss, Kelsey Grammer was running for mayor of Chicago was way down in the polls so at a campaign speech his wife ( and they hated each other ) was beside him and he had a police sniper shoot her. Not fatally, but it did give him the numbers to win the election. Now that’s an impressive way to get out the vote.

Went shopping for stuff for Barkley. Got him his own bed, collar, leash, tie out cable, chew toy, and shampoo since Geisha has a prescription medicated shampoo. Also doubled up in dog food.
Picked up a table cloth for the outside table for the 4th of July and a some other stuff for the 4th. I always had Dad over for the 4th and cooked steak kabobs on the grill and then did the fireworks. Since I have plenty of field behind me I get the big stuff and have a 2″x 10″ with 5 mortar tubes nailed to it that I use year after year. It rained on the 4th last year so I have two full boxes of the bombs left over and after the 4th last year went out and bought two more on sale. I have other stuff too. So we’re all set.
So nice to know that I will be home and not called out to go on a run. Since Dad is gone, I will invite my sister and brothers and of course my son over for the holiday.
