Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts.

Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear, having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ. For it is better, if it is God’s will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit, in whom he also went and preached to the spirits in prison, who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

This is a small story about “streets smarts” . . .

One day my friends, an attractive woman friend and a mechanic friend were walking to our favorite lunchtime restaurant. Our path was one that we’d followed dozens of times. When we started our brief journey all seemed well. But, as soon as we’d crossed the street to the adjacent sidewalk—everything suddenly changed.

Suddenly a large black guy appeared and began to close the distance between us. We’d been “clocked” by an urban mugger. Certainly we looked like good targets—and attractive woman accompanied by a couple of elderly men looked like easy targets. Only we weren’t.

My mechanic friend was a man who’d spent his life on the rough side of “the street”. He’d had a long life with more than his share of rough scraps—not all of which were especially legal. He’d noticed the approaching threat about the same time I had.

Suddenly, our rapidly approaching urban predator had a change of heart—he stopped approaching us, turned and crossed the street . . . What happened?

My friend later told me that he’s “clocked” the street thug and simply displayed a clearly opened knife held close to his torso, yet clearly visible to the thug. In street language the message was clear to the thug: you’ve been clocked, I see you, I’m armed, if you mess with us you’re going to be in a real fight.

‎4/‎12/‎2023 – Have understanding of the times, to know what we should do

Isaiah 8:9-18 “Associate yourselves, O you people, and you shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all you of far countries: gird yourselves, and you shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and you shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say you not, An Alliance, to all them to whom this people shall say, An Alliance; neither fear you their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread. And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. Bind up the Testimony, seal the Law among My disciples. And I will wait upon the LORD, that hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for Him. Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given Me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwells in mount Zion.”

We must understand the times, in order to know what we ought to do. We must know and understand our God, and ourselves, and our enemies. We must know our competency and our objectives; what are our strengths and weaknesses, and what do we want to accomplish; as well as those of our enemies; and most importantly, What do we want it to look like when we’re done? All these things have to be understood in their spiritual sense, according to the Scriptures, and according to God’s express purposes in us. For the weapons of OUR warfare are not carnal, are not after the flesh; and we are not seeking to conquer and subdue the world for Jesus’ kingdom.

His kingdom IS NOT OF THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD! For if it were, then would His servants fight: but now it is not from hence. We have quite another charge from God; which is to announce His Glad Tidings in Christ, and to be His moral representatives in this world, like lambs in the midst of wolves; to teach the world to do all that Jesus has commanded. And our actions speak louder than words! For men will read us, and our real course in life, far better than taking up arms to force them to submit to Jesus.

God knows completely all that the wicked are trying to do, and how far He will let them go with it. There is a reason why these things are necessary; and even while they are hardened against the Lord, and are attributing there strength to their own gods, it is God who has raised them up for this day, to show forth His power and glory in the sight of the whole world. Just as He knew Pharaoh, and raised him up specifically for showing His great power, to bring Israel out of bondage from under the Egyptians; so has God raised up the ‘ruling elite’ of this day, to show the world His great glory and power when Christ returns, to judge the world, to save His people, and to finally convert Israel once and for all forever.

In the first verse there appears to our understanding, a mistranslation in the King James Version, which says, ‘Associate yourselves:’ more properly it should read from the original tongue, ‘to spoil by breaking in pieces;’ or figuratively, ‘to make, or be good for nothing.’ The LORD is telling all them of “far countries” to hear what He says, in warning against what they are plotting to do by their ‘Alliance’; which is to “spoil (to strip [a person or place] of [property or goods] by force or violence; the act of plundering) by breaking in pieces, and to make [all] good for nothing;” we are told of the nature of the fourth and final kingdom, and the end of the times of the Gentiles.

Daniel 7:7, 23-27 “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns . . . Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.”

Isaiah 10:1-3 “Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; to turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! And what will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will you flee for help? and where will you leave your glory?”

There is an unspoken assumption, and commonly held notion, that the things of the “end times” are something that comes from somewhere else, as if it were foreign to what the world already is. They look for, and try to interpret the “signs of the times,” as if we were waiting for an alien invasion; trying to guess what this means, and what that means, as if there was some kind of code for figuring out the holy prophecies. But Jesus answers this, “You hypocrites can discern the face of the earth and sky; how is it you cannot discern this time?” The entire true history of man is recorded in the Bible, God’s witness; but men do not receive His testimony, and do not believe the truth!

Proverbs 1:20-22 “Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets: she cries in the chief place of *concourse (a large open space for the gathering of people in a public place), in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying, How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?”

Psalms 19:7 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”

If it wasn’t the most tragic thing that can happen to a man, the pride and stupidity of man would be really laughable! He hates the light, and fights against the light because it exposes the evil, and then shows the good and the right way; having his heart and mind fixed in defiance to the law of God, he pretends innocence, and ignores the law of God; truly convinced, that if he doesn’t care about it, it has nothing to do with him; he believes that he can be whatever his heart imagines himself to be without God. Meanwhile, God’s Spirit and all creation is speaking to him every day, in wisdom calling to him in all his business and interactions in the world, to repent; but he chooses to know not. So whose fault is it, if God is long suffering and kind and patient, and doing everything to save men, and they still will not?

But the fact is, that these things are not far off from any man; but closer than their hands and feet, if they would humble themselves to receive the word in a good and honest heart. It doesn’t require any initiation or having to unlock a secret code; it isn’t something we need any man to teach us; but it is faith, from out of an honest heart, seeking and speaking to God directly for one’s self, to set in order his account and make peace, by cutting off the sins, and turning his heart to rehabilitate his ways according to God’s commandments. An elder Believer can help guide with the words; but the repentance and conversion has to come from the sincerity of the individual himself.

Deuteronomy 30:12-14 “It is not in heaven, that you should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very near [approaching] unto you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it.”

This world is a land of enchantment, and a vanity fair, which has bewitched and ensnared the minds of many. We have to understand the gravity of the apostle’s warning, that the love of the world is enmity against God; and that if anyone loves the world, he is constituted an enemy of God. We cannot as Christians base our thoughts and opinions according to the philosophies and maxims of the unbelievers and the world. We order our thoughts, and al the intents of our hearts, to walk after the Spirit of Christ in His word. Our manner of life is in heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God; and so must also be our understanding of the times, how we are to know what to do.

This “Alliance” and “Confederacy,” which God strictly forbids us to have anything to do with; has been in the world, as the spirit of the heathen and Antichrist, ever since Nimrod “began to be mighty in the earth,” and the beginning of “his kingdom” the building of Babel. For it was not driven out of the heart of man by the confounding of the language, and scattering over all the face of the earth. That’s where the Globalist’s doctrine comes from; just as it has been at the root of every tyranny in the history of the world.

The Satanic madness and blood-thirsty rage against the LORD, and against His Anointed, that was at the root of the “first beast’s” going forth conquering, and to subdue all unto himself, was not driven out of man just because God dashed their scheme to pieces by confusing the language, and scattering them away from each other. The serpent’s poison did what it was intended to do; and those whose hearts and minds were open to his doctrine, received it as their forever identity, and their whole purpose of existence. That’s why all human history has been a never ending cycle of one empire rising up against all others for world domination; in order to bring everyone back by force, into the city and tower which they first began to build.

God’s way of blocking them from their evil imagination coming to fruition, was to confuse their language, so they could not understand each other, and to scatter them all into their own countries, away from each other. The Satanic and tyrannical endeavors that have ever been in the world, have always tried to violently undo this, and force everyone again under the dominion of the Antichrist and his kingdom. The completion of the age is the letting go of all God’s restraint from them, to give them all that they have imagined to do.

The word is given to us, and God has given us the understanding of the word, so that we should not be afraid of the things which we shall suffer; but that we should be strong in faith, and of good courage, keeping our eyes upon Him who has our righteousness and eternal life entirely in His own hands. Our holy calling is of God; and His charge on us, is to not resist the evil, but to suffer the wrongs for His sake patiently; knowing that they are all working together for our righteous judgment and salvation.

We have nothing to do with their “alliances,” just as we have nothing to do with their spirit of “spoiling (to strip [a person or place] of [property or goods] by force or violence; the act of plundering) by breaking in pieces, and to make [all] good for nothing.” The only thing that the Lord Jesus told us, as to how we are to overcome; is to trust Him, that the Holy Spirit would teach us in the same hour what we ought to answer; and to not let the many deceivers and false brethren and abounding of evil, cause our love to grow cold; but to endure to the end, to finish His work of announcing the Glad Tidings, and teaching the world to keep all that Jesus has commanded us.

Our kingdom is not of this world; and we are not to fight against the forces of the devil’s children who come against us for Christ’s sake, to save our lives in this world. God makes the world according to the kind of men of those times. God raised up Pharaoh for His own purposes, to show His power and glory openly to the world; in humbling and destroying the wicked and arrogant Egyptians, by bringing out the children of Israel from their cruel oppression and bondage. God has raised up also all the people in power for these last days; for showing His power and great glory in the coming of Christ to save the world. If we are to overcome the devil and his Antichrist world kingdom, then we can only do it in the way prescribed by God, who brings it to pass: and that is by the blood of the Lamb, and the word of our testimony, and not loving our lives unto death.

Revelation 13:4-10 “And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His Name, and His Tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”

Revelation 14:6-16 “And I saw another angel fly in the mid-heaven, having the everlasting Glad Tidings to preach to them that dwell upon the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for The Hour of HIS Judgment Is Come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Who is on the LORD’s side? Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers, others’ lives to bring?
Who will leave the world’s side? Who will face the foe?
Who is on the LORD’s side? Who for Him will go?

WHAT TO DO UNDER THE CONDITIONS
 
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord.” Psalm lv. 22
 
We must distinguish between the burden-bearing that is right and the burden-bearing that is wrong. We ought never to bear the burden of sin or of doubt, but there are burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off, He wants us to roll them back on Him. “Cast that He hath given thee upon the Lord.” (R.V.marg.) If we undertake work for God and get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility will be overwhelmingly crushing; but if we roll back on God that which He has put upon us, He takes away the sense of responsibility by bringing in the realization of Himself.
 
Many workers have gone out with high courage and fine impulses, but with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, and before long they are crushed. They do not know what to do with the burden, it produces weariness, and people say – “What an embittered end to such a beginning!”
 
“Roll thy burden upon the Lord” – you have been bearing it all; deliberately put one end on the shoulders of God. “The government shall be upon His shoulder.” Commit to God “that He hath given thee”; not fling it off, but put it over on to Him and yourself with it, and the burden is lightened by the sense of companionship. Never disassociate yourself from the burden.

April 13th Devotional

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.  – Matthew 18:20

Jesus valued relationships. All of His teachings would one way or another be under the two greatest commandments, to love God and to love others as yourself. In His teachings before today’s verse, He talked about how believers are to be childlike toward God and to regard children as precious, being careful not to lead any of them astray (Matthew 18:1-6).  

He instructed how to handle conflicts with fellow brothers or sisters: to first try to resolve them between yourselves. If that does not work, take two or three witnesses with you. And then it goes on to the whole church (Matthew 18:15-17). How gossip would be quenched if these instructions were followed! When a conflict arises, the fleshly tendency is to first talk with those who are not involved.  

In Jesus’s prayer at the Last Supper, His heart’s desire was “that they may be one, even as we are one” (John 17:11). Before He left, Christ told His disciples, “I will not leave you as orphans” (John 14:18). The Father sent the Holy Spirit to live with His people after the Son’s ascension. In today’s verse, Jesus promises that when two or three are gathered in His name, He is there among them. The Holy Spirit is present as people call on the name of Jesus. How important it is for believers in Christ to meet in His name and let the Holy Spirit move in their hearts! 

As you pray for the nation and those in public office today, know that you are uniting your heart with multitudes of believers praying for this country. Allow the Holy Spirit to move in your prayers (Romans 8:26) as you intercede for the nation to be brought under the Lordship of Christ.

JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

As I have written before, the tornado count has been increasing due to the ever increasing numbers and distribution of the population and due to the ever improving technology and coverage of Dopplar Radar.

However the increased numbers are ALL EF-0 and EF-1s. And here is the proof of that:

Yesterday Sherry and I spent hours picking up sticks in the yard. I got the trim with the weedwacker done and some of the trim with the push mower done. By that time the sciatica in my right leg got intolerable. So I finish the trim and get on the zero turn today to finish the job.

Seems I have to do some of my own physical therapy to gain back some physical endurance. If you don’t use it, you lose it, and, God willing, I’ve got too much life to live yet to be hobbled by something I think I can probably beat with just increased physical activity.

Also today, a neighbor will be dropping a junk container off at Steve’s place and we are welcome to put what ever junk stuff we want in it. I certainly have some stuff I want to get rid of and so will take a pickup truck load of junk to the container.

Finally I will be getting a couple of large planters. Sherry isn’t putting in a garden this year but those planters will provide a handy place for a tomato plant and some other stuff.

So those are my objectives for today. If there is anything left of me, I’ll get out the water hoses and hooking them up.

Appreciate your prayers, folks. This is happening right now… in my neighborhood. Last week our public library in Lebanon was closed due to a threat. Now our neighborhood elementary school is evacuated. My daughter and her bus driver is safe – we are across the neighborhood street – but part of the Lebanon district and not Zionsville.

The mental illness spilling from the schools is creating a hazardous living environment for our children and communities.
