And Congress wrote and passed legislation authorising the FCC to limit media ownership in order to preserve a free press.
Unfortunately, they left it up to the regulatory agency, to detirmine what percentage was “allowable”.
As the big 6 bought up larger and larger market share, they just increased the allowable percentage, and Congress SAW it happening, but got their cut, and so didn’t do anything about it.

Since WWII the government has been subtly undermining the Constitution but with the advent of the prince from Kenya and his demented sidekick, it has shifted into overdrive.
Trump was a speed bump in the highway to hell and this is why we see the left’s seething hatred for the man.

I think there is a point there, but what I’d argue is that there is still enough regulation to know there was risk even with the change (this was identified long before the collapse, I believe), and that even more regulation wouldn’t have the loss in value of their investments due to the Biden economy.

I don’t think regulation had anything to do with it but a lack of risk management by the bank. They had Treasuries and not much diversity. When the Fed kept raising rates these Treasuries fell in value. Then came the bank run. The Fed oversight on banks was poor not the regulations.

This is a major victory for Congress and, more broadly, a validation of lawmakers’ role as overseers of the U.S. intelligence community.
It’s the direct result of a pressure campaign from the Senate Intelligence Committee’s chair and vice chair, Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who relentlessly hammered the Biden administration over its months-long refusal to share the documents with the committee.
The Biden administration began producing the documents last week, we’re told. The Gang of Eight includes Warner and Rubio, their House Intelligence Committee counterparts, and the Democratic and Republican leader in each chamber. The members of this group — and some designated staffers — have access to the most sensitive intelligence material.
A spokesperson for the Senate Intelligence Committee declined to comment. A Justice Department spokesperson also declined to comment.
Jack Smith, that special counsel, is investigating Trump for potential violations of the Presidential Records Act, the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice. A different special counsel, Robert Hur, is looking into Biden’s retention of classified documents in multiple spaces, including the garage of his Delaware home.

I have always stated that I will never be a person who says there should not be a primary. Because of the way that I got to Congress, it would be deeply hypocritical for me to ever be against the existence of a primary process for a candidacy. Just on principle, that is where I stand.
I do believe that some of the latest developments coming from the Biden administration are highly concerning — increasingly concerning — and not just from an ideological perspective, not just from a substance perspective, which is the most important, but also from a political perspective.
I think it is extremely risky and very perilous should the Biden administration forget who it was that put him over the top. When you look at the places — not just abstract levels of turnout, not just where numbers came from, but these swing places that gave Joe Biden the edge on an [Electoral College] victory — it was young people that that won him this election, communities of color, high turnout areas. This lurch to the right at a time when the Right is scrambling and lost in the desert on how to even win an election after these stunning losses — I think it’s a profound miscalculation. And it is quite dangerous.
The pushback on the Biden administration’s authorization of the Willow Project has been very encouraging. It is important. We saw Biden’s approval ratings dip for the first time in a significant way recently, and I believe that it was after the approval of the Willow Project, and that some of these decisions to lurch to the right have contributed to that.
So what we really need right now is having that continued, outside vocal organizing that allows us, when we are approaching the administration, to say, “This is why this is happening,” so we can pull and point to grassroots movements that are telling that story as our evidence. Because if we just come up with that abstract claim, they’re just going to think that it’s conjecture: “Of course you’re going to say that; this is what you already believe.”
I think it emphasizes the importance of that grassroots organizing, because it gives us the ammunition and the evidence to tell the story about why this is important. I do believe that the Biden administration historically, particularly under chief of staff Ron Klain, understood that. The focus of the article is about bank runs. There is no mention of the Canadian Bank Run of 2022. You know the one where Turdeau went Nazi against the Truckers and Canadians in general.

They show a conspicuous lack of alertness or long-range planning on the part of the Pentagon.
The material situation in Ukraine is degrading rapidly in artillery shells, tanks, and air defense.

Brandon Johnson’s victory in Chicago shows the city has lost the political base for sensible reforms.
There’s a great deal of ruin in a nation, as Adam Smith once observed. The same could be said of America’s big Democratic-run cities. Brandon Johnson’s victory in last week’s Chicago mayoral race is a reminder that no matter how bad things get, they can always get worse.
Chicago is functionally bankrupt. Its high crime and taxes are driving away businesses like Citadel, Boeing and Tyson Foods. Despite some of the highest property taxes in the country, its pension funds are in a death spiral. Scads of people are moving out. A net 175,000 people left Cook County between 2020 and 2022.
Mr. Johnson’s margin of victory was about 20,000 votes. How many of the city’s expats would have voted for moderate reformer Paul Vallas? Therein lies an enormous problem for Chicago and other big cities: Left-wing policies are driving away the types of voters and businesses needed for a course correction.
