I am about finished reading the biography of Charles L. Dodgson (better known as Lewis Carroll, author) . . . the book I am reading (on my Kindle) was written by a relative of his and contains entries from diaries over the years. In one entry, CLD mentions a sermon regarding the Book of Job and the fear of the Lord, that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That seemed pretty awesome to me as I was thinking about all the fearful things being generated in the world today . . .
the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom . . . so if I drop away fear of the things being brought about by people who seem not to fear the Lord and if I concentrate instead on fearing the Lord . . . that is, to strive to be in concert with His wisdom, what or who else do I need to fear?
When God is with us, who can be against us?
Thank you for your observations suejeanne. When I think of the “fear of the Lord” I think of “reverential awe” as well.
It’s part of the reason I include the the following verse in the main post…
“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.” ~ Ps 4:4, 5
I also think of God as my Heavenly Father who loves me and wants the best for me. Some metaphors used in the bible are a potter molding the clay or a grape vine being pruned so it bears more fruit. Though the process is often very uncomfortable, it ends up being the best for me.
Here are a couple more verses.
“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. I have seen several articles, pushing the same narrative, in covering the recent actions of Chairman Xi, of China.
They say he is “painting” himself as a peacemaker, implying that he is creating a false image of himself with his peacemaking efforts.
The U.S. Govt under Obama;
Openly shunned Israel.
Courted Iran with the nuclear deal.
Shipped pallets of cash, planeloads of them to Iran, knowing full well Iran would use them to finance destabilising actions, like funding the houthis in Yemen, to engage in a proxue war against Saudi Arabia.
Shipped 100’s of tons of weoponry to ISIS, and countenenced coups in Syria and Lybia.
And instigated the “color revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, backing the Muslim brotherhood, all with the goal of ‘regime change’ in Saudi Arabia, in order to begin their WAR on OIL.
And Xi negotiated a peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia, countering these actions.
Xi is now meeting with Putin, to negotiate an end to the Ukraine war, based on a 12 point plan he already announced.
The U.S. categorically refused to consider any peace deal.
Around the time they initiated their failed attempts in the ME, they instigated the Euromaiden coup, to install Zalenski, trained the Azoz brigades, supported the shelling of civilians in eastern Ukraine, and have done everything to get this war started, and keep it going.
So, how exactly is Xi “painting” himself as a peacemaker, as opposed to BEING a peacemaker?
And, even if he is, the U.S. Govt. by it’s actions set him up to portray himself as “the good guy peacemaker” and the U.S. as “the bad guys hegemons”.
Oh, I know the CCP is a “brutal, one party system that censors dissent, forces lockdowns on it’s people, suppresses religion, etc.”,..so very much like the U.S. Govt, and to the degree that the CCP is worse, the US Govt is envious.
Hate to say it, but in this particular effort, I am rooting for Xi, and for peace.
Is what Xi is doing any different than what the US Govt has done for YEARS, portraying ourselves as the “Defenders of Democracy” and of a “rules based system” which has all been horsesh*t?

Williams said the content Twitter flagged were his tweets that were critical of Democrat Adam Schiff.
‘Twitter’s legal team has contacted me to notify me that my account has been flagged for possible hate conduct because I made a video about how Adam Schiff should resign,’ Williams said.
In a follow up tweet, Williams later added that his tweets flagged by Twitter also included criticism of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
‘Leave my account alone. Somebody get (Twitter CEO) Jack Dorsey on the phone. The legal team has contacted me. They are investigating my account. This is outrageous,’ he said.
‘I’m p***ed off. You mean to tell me that it’s hateful because I’m a black man that supports Donald J Trump?

Williams also said in the video that it was Twitter’s attempt to take down accounts supporting Trump in the lead up to 2020.
