I routinely tell my students oil and natural gas are the most abundant recycled fuels on earth, constantly renewed in the biosphere percolate down through the soil and stored for use.
If we do not use it will eventually percolate back up and we will be watching it floating on top of ground water.

This is not correct. Oil and gas do not “percolate down”. Ever. See my post below of where oil and gas come from. And once oil and gas is created, it actually percolates up. Oil floats on water and gas is even lighter…
The only oil and gas that we are able to use today, in fact, are deposits that were blocked from percolating to the surface and disípate eons ago. These known deposits were all trapped by a rock layer above them – usually salt, shale or clay. We call these “cap rock”.
To teach others that oil and gas are recyclable is dishonest or ignorance. Sure, the Earth is always cooking biomass as it is pushed underneath the ground, but the process takes thousands and thousands of years and the quantity being created at any given time is a minuscule fraction of that quantity that we are producing today.
Said a different way, if we drained all the known reserves today, it would take maybe 500,000 years to refill.
I don’t know about you, but that is too long of a line at the pump for me.
Your last sentence is incorrect as well. If we do not use it (I.e. the oil reserves), nothing will happen. They are trapped under cap rock, as they have been for thousands of years.
In the few places where “percolating” happens, such as the tar pits of southern CA, it doesn’t float on ground water. Rather, bacteria eats all the light ends of the hydrocarbon chain and the fluid becomes thick and is heavier than water. It is called an asphaltene, better known as tar. Think of “asphalt” which is used in road making.
Please educate yourself before “teaching” the above. Or invite an Oil & Gas industry expert in to talk to your students.

Folks, I am on your side, but I have to speak up. There is a whole lot of misunderstanding here regarding “fossil fuels”.
First off: Fossil fuels DO NOT come from dinosaurs. Hydrocarbons come from biomass, which is plant-based. Oil deposits are essentially layers of dead seaweed, plankton and algae that settled on the bottom of warm ancient seas. These layers of organic mulch then get buried over eons of time due to volcanic ash, tectonic shift and “slow bake” at high temperatures and pressure (think pressure cooking), which results in a hydrocarbon-based goo that we call oil.
This goo can be thick as toothpaste (e.g. the “oil sands in northern Alberta), filled with impurities and stinky with sulfides (“sour” in Venezuela), or with low viscosity and ready to burn (“sweet” oil of the Middle East). Just depends on the situation.
Also, this fluid can be in sandstone, which are compressed and hardened ancient beaches. Or they can be found in limestone, which is compressed and hardened ancient reef. Limestone is a mostly a collection of calcified and fossilized shells that made up the reef.
THIS, perhaps is where the name “fossil fuel” comes from. The rock. Not the fluid.
Or perhaps it was coined from the fact that the age at which this biomass was created occurred during the Jurassic period, I.e., the age of dinosaurs. Warm seas that covered more of the Earth than today.
Again, there are NO dinosaurs in the gasoline. None.
BTW, natural gas is created when bacteria feed on these underground deposits of hydrocarbons. To make a joke of it, it’s bacteria fart.
So, oil reserves on Titan do not indicate that dinosaurs survived there. It does indicate that there was at some point long ago warm seas with abundant plant life. And plate motion and/or volcanic activity with the power to bury these layers of organics.
Fallacy #2: Oil is being replenished. Um, no. Not in the sense that the writer is indicating. The world is depleting our known reserves at a certain rate. The Earth is not able to replenish this at any measurable rate that matters. It is not in any real objective way “renewable”. I don’t know the exact ratio here, but to say that Earth is baking new organic layers anywhere close to our extraction rate is not honest.

Hydrocarbons are seen in free space and quite famously in great quantities on the surface of Saturn’s moon Titan, they are natural and not a derivative of dead life.
Hydrocarbons are a portion of the materials that accreted to form the earth. They are not produced by the earth, though they are stored deep and migrate up,often losing lighter elements and becoming heavier and more carbonaceous in the process, explaining the vast variety of hydrocarbons we see.
Methane-Hydrates on the seafloor are an example of those portions of rising hydrocarbons that are not capped under rock but accumulate on the seafloor, a potential source of energy. Permafrost I believe has also trapped some of these percolating gasses.
I challenge any and all who would challenge others on the origins of hydrocarbons to read this book.

I know Thomas Gold’s work and theories well. Discoverer of pulsars. Very cool. His theory on the origins of hydrocarbons remains a fringe idea and, though not disproven, remains since the 1950s entirely not supported by evidence.
On the other hand, since the 1950s when he came up with this idea, the evidence for the origin of hydrocarbons being as I described in my other post has been significantly bolstered by chemistry experiments and deeper and better understanding of our geomechanics via seismic sensors.

Klemperer was a German Jew, philologist and diarist who wrote about his life and his observations about changes in language in Germany, during the 1930s and up to 1942. Corruption of language is a hallmark of totalitarian regimes and a clear sign of deep social pathology.

What I have met are people that buy into the TV commercial for some sort of banking app (?), that makes money from your paycheck available 2 – 3 days earlier. The commercial spotlights 3 – 4 people who can do wondrous things now that they get their money 3 days earlier. They speak of their envious friends and coworkers wanting to be let in on the big secret.
ONE paycheck was available 3 days early and every single paycheck after that is available 7 days later, the same as every other person at work. The narration during the commercial suggests that these math whizzes get their money … “3 days ahead of everyone else every week!!!” To mess with these math morons, their coworkers should start telling them that the paycheck they are getting on Tuesday was available to everyone else at work on Friday. They are getting their money 4 days late.
I guess the reality won’t hit these folks until the plant closes down and everyone else gets money 4 days after them.

My point, this struggle is as ancient as man’s existence on earth. There has been a constant clash that exists between Good & Evil, dark-v-light or let’s get Old Testament/Genesis and the line of Seth, or the line of Cain.
It took the USA 110 + years to get here this will take time to correct.

Oh, I’ll definitely watch it once it comes on broadcast TV, or the Public Library buys the DVD. I do use the lists of Oscar winners as a set of recommendations of worthy work, and eventually I view most all of the big winners. I just don’t pay, like go out to theaters or use streaming services that aren’t free. I have no FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
To me it doesn’t ultimately matter if I agree with a movie’s philosophical point-of-view. I can still enjoy separate aspects of the craft, a great score, exceptional cinematography, visual effects etc. It helps to understand genres. For example, you don’t watch an “Action/Adventure” film to get nuanced character development. You watch for the kabooms. I expect “Top Gun: Maverick” has great kabooms.
You see, “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”? It’s a Coen Brothers sort of Alfred Hitchcock collection of short Western stories. “The Gal Who Was Rattled”, to me, was simply breathtaking. Who knew the Coen Brothers could make such a tender, intelligent and moral love story? Too bad about the Hitchcock ending.
I am still celebrating the Academy giving only a single Oscar to Spielberg’s “West Side Story”. What “Woke” trash! Dance is such a large part of “WSS” but Spielberg obviously thought editing the dance scenes into tiny enough bits would enable the equitable outcome he was striving for! Anyone can dance! The 1960, 10 Oscar winning, version is the one to see.
Yes, I have seen Buster Scruggs. I generally like Coen Brothers movies. And I agree with you on the new West Side Story. There’s really no reason to remake or update classic movies, when there are many attempts with interesting idea content that may be miscast or have unrealized potential from low budgets. The ‘80s version of The Fly is better than the original, and it took three tries to get to the Bogart version of The Maltese Falcon. The exception would be adaptations of LITERARY classics, like from Shakespeare. There will always be new ways to adapt Romeo and Juliet (the source for West Side Story), or Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, or Sherlock Holmes stories.

Both yesterday and Friday I listened to that livestream Roundtable youtube channel and their discussions on this SVB and potential bailouts and whatnot, over 8 hours of fearmongering and the occasional levelheaded commenter. Mostly insiders and mostly heavily invested in that whole venture capital business so very doom and gloom mentality.
The biggest doom and gloomer was someone named Bill Ackerman, and Maria Bartiromo mentioned him in her piece this morning. Thankfully after his continued push to scare the commenters I have come away with the impression to not be surprised that we will eventually learn if this is just another Soros move being pushed to cause a true meltdown of national banks, similar to what he did with the British pound.
The day before the SVB bank’s closure Peter Thiell (sp?) and his Founder’s group pulled 100% of their assets from that bank. A move as big as that was sure to cause the bank’s failure.
These people work together and there’s no way big money pullouts like that are not orchestrated by someone, somewhere. It could also be part of FJB’s continual actions to bankrupt our nation.

That was not a requirement of government at the time. It was Screen Gems (a division of Columbia Pictures, the producers of the TV show) who made that call, under the Production Code in force from 1934 until the 1960s. The Code made such disclosures voluntary, so producers would put in those blurbs at the beginning if it was a respected branch of government or the military. The 1930s gangster/social justice movies mentioned the support of the FBI, the Treasury Department or various governors in the credits. Movies in the last 50 years have relegated these kinds of “Special Thanks” to the end credits.

Tucker Carlson’s work can be easily and fairly judged. He’s acting as a salesman. He has a pitch he thinks will appeal to TV audiences. If audiences don’t respond, he will memory-hole any material, regardless of its importance, and alter his on-air viewpoint. It’s all about the numbers.

Just be the nice patient, one that has a reputation for being stubborn and not willing to be the first to volunteer for any new treatments or protocols.
Do that and after a few visits the doctors, at least the one’s I’ve finally am happy with, settle down, drop the government forced talking points, and actually turn out to be pretty good doctors.
Please just find a way to work it so that you get the medical care you need while letting the physician gain comfort in being your physician. Just as in all things these days, it’s a dance of give and take.
I’d only go at another person like that if I didn’t wish any contact with them in the future or didn’t care about their life at all. I wouldn’t go at someone I was about to trust with my medical health.
Doctors and other medical professionals have had to balance their desire to maintain their lifestyle against the realities of the Covid operation. They were the first soldiers in the propaganda effort, perhaps unwitting, but their efforts on behalf of their masters did result in loss of life.
If I felt I had to unload on a PCP (primary care provider) I’d go to another PCP. They’re not going to apologize or be encouraged to provide outstanding medical care by throwing sand in their face. It’s not human nature.
Instead, ask questions. ‘Given what we know now, what’s your position on Covid?‘ Listen. Make choices.
Since those of us who aren’t medical professionals, were smart enough not to take the clot shot and knew it was a bad idea from the get go, the idea that these “respected” medical professionals not only couldn’t figure this out but thought it was legitimately a good idea to promote it to their patients is laughable.
It means they are either morons or lying scumbags that didn’t care if they injured or killed their patients. Either way they should be shunned and shamed and frankly prosecuted.
A prediction. The doctor will engage on informed consent, and deflect on any topic like “bioweapon”, because it’s outside Scope of Practice, and you’re taking up another patient’s time attempting to discuss topics irrelevant to your exam.
You’re not gonna break anybody down. Providers are trained to listen and discuss things relevant to TODAY’s appointment, and to “round file” anything outside of that, though they might PRETEND to listen as long as your venting allows them to continue reviewing your test results. They have other patients to see, and every minute of an exam has to be accounted for in their notes or they don’t get paid. I’ve directly witnessed docs who were let go because they repeatedly took too long conversing with patients (or staff) over things not directly related to the case at hand. It screws up the appointment schedule, and once the nurses and medical assistants turn against you over that, you will face mutiny.
More than likely the doctor will recommend you find another doctor; and good luck finding one once your name gets into their little rumor mill of which patients to not take.
(It’s not fun being fired by a doctor, much less an entire medical practice, for voicing ones desire for a second opinion, and can say I’ve been there, done that. and please believe me, these physicians are pressured beyond belief to push those jabs or risk losing their rights to practice medicine.)
He should have already found another doctor since his tried to kill him. Any doctor that took the death jab is a joke and deserves no respect.
Easily said for those who have no underlying, or undiagnosed, medical condition. Those doctors who did not take the vaccine have, almost entirely, retired from their practice. And the new ones who will soon receive their diplomas and satisfy their State’s licensing requirements are also being taught that it is impossible to know what a woman is. Good luck with getting quality care from those folk.

Not necessarily. My gastroenterologist got his medical degree in India. I’d say he’s in his 40’s. I love the guy. He listens. Last week I mentioned a research article about Ivermectin being investigated as a potential cure for colitis. The article had just been published. He had missed that one and was grateful I mentioned it. In turn, he has sent me articles via email that I had missed. Very rare doctor. One day I expect to find out he got fired from the huge medical conglomerate that employs him — fired, because he actually practices medicine, and tailors treatment to a specific patient.
I would find another doctor because I have no more patience for idiots and ideologs. If my doctor says the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, then I can’t trust his medical opinion. More than a year ago I was up for an annual checkup. The office told me to bring my vaccine records. I told them to go to hell in the nicest way I could. I found another doctor who just so happened to immigrate here from Poland. He didn’t care if I was vaxed, didn’t require a mask and didn’t wear a mask in the visit, knew the pandemic response was BS and had a very interesting take on Ukraine. He actually pointed out that a low-level Ukrainian comedian doesn’t make enough money to own mansions. My trust in him is solid and I’m getting better care.
It will likely do no good. The doctors have been so brainwashed that the vaccine is saving lives, that there’s nothing you can say or do to convince them otherwise.
Ask them to explain how an experimental messenger RNA gene therapy that was patented as a gene therapy can be considered a real vaccine.

There are plenty of moving parts here and lots of unknowns, most-specifically who’s connected to what, where, and with what reserves?
Apparently the firm attempted to raise capital, failed, and now is looking for a buyer. The FDIC stepped in and locked the doors — they typically do this on a Friday after the market closes but acted early this time.
One very interesting element of this situation is that the bank, being a bank, is supposed to have reserves against this type of loss, especially startup funding which is extraordinarily risky even in the best of times. I guess Pence forgets that he was telling people at the different rallies in Georgia that the election would be overturned. He was giving people hope up and until that Jan 6 day. Woke women in some very influential positions at SVB. The post does kind of go after the female link at other companies and their failures, or possible future failures. I found it telling that they are all liberal women to the max and running the show. We saw some of this at Disney too with woke gay women in leading management and production roles.
