I want to share an answer to prayer:
Yesterday, I needed to enter a US federal building. As best I understand God’s Word, medical masking as currently required by feds contradicts God’s plan. So I knew I wouldn’t mask, but I did have business that needed cared for. I prayed and went. As I walked in, I could see God was already preparing the way. There was not a soul in the waiting room of the building besides me and the guard stationed.
Fed Guard: Do you have a mask?
Me: I do not.
FG: Here is one for you.
Me: I just need to leave some paperwork. May I leave it with you?
FG: I can not accept it. You must sign in to turn that in.
Me: Okay, then are there exemptions?
FG: There are none. All federal buildings require masks.
Me: May I request a religious accommodation, then?
FG: Um, do you have a card from your church?
Me: Well… I believe that Leviticus 13:45 lays out God’s plan for masking, and these requirements go against that.
FG: Just a second.
(Overheard behind closed doors)
FG: (explaining)
Guy #2: Well, I guess I don’t mind if you don’t.
FG: Yeah, I don’t mind.
(returning)
FG: You can just go around the corner to be helped over there.
Me: Thank you! Have a great day!
As I finished my business, I heard another person come in and the guard ask them about masks as well. The Lord really prepared the way, as other situations in which I’ve taken a stand have definitely not gone that way, but yesterday He gave me a man who was willing to have calm dialogue and a quiet building where the feds would not lose face for granting an accommodation. I praise the Lord that I had the opportunity to stand up for Jesus and remind the Government that on those occasions when man’s laws contradict God’s laws, God’s laws overrule.

Good morning, Michael! That’s a fair question from an honest Bible student.
I’ll quote the translation I’m using so we’re looking at the same phrasing: ‘And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.’ Lev 13:45 KJV
As I understand this verse in its context, a man presents with definite, obvious physical signs and symptoms of a specific disease. He goes to the priest, who has been trained to diagnose this disease on the basis of specific symptoms. After he has been diagnosed, he is then obligated whenever he must be in public to put a cloth veil or ‘covering’ – Strong’s 05844 `atah, aw-taw’ to wrap, i.e. cover, veil, cloth, or roll – (medical face mask) below his nose ‘upon his upper lip’ and make public announcement of his disease state until he is symptom-free. If and when that happens, he returns to the priest to be declared disease-free based upon his lack of symptoms and he is no longer obligated to do these things.
So if I were to be diagnosed by a trained professional, based on symptoms, with leprosy (strict interpretation) or some other highly contagious, deadly disease (broad application), and if I found it necessary to be in public, then I would comply with this teaching by wearing a cloth covering below my nose and by letting anyone who wanted to approach me know that I’m very likely contagious. I would do so until symptom-free and cleared by my doctor based on my lack of symptoms.

When you tell the same story several times it can, if you’re lucky and it has enough merit, it can become lore. I’ve told this story before when I’ve put up “Texas Morning”. The roadhouse Michael Martin Murphy sings about was—I believe—in Ft. Stockton, Texas. It was located immediately adjacent to I-10, was open 24 hours 7 days a week. It was a genuine highway oasis for late night travelers like me.
I had failed in my efforts to succeed in Tucson. What I was doing doesn’t really matter. I’d packed up, pulled out and headed back to Texas. I wasn’t at all sure what my welcome would be—I was supposed to be successful, after all. And yet, I wasn’t. Honestly, I wasn’t at all sure if she’d want me back. Relationships don’t often survive when there’s this kind of failure.
Hearing the words to Michael’s song perfectly described my stop there. I remember the post-card rack. It is all so real to me even now. I’d stopped for a break, had some pie and coffee and the walked out into the same early Texas morning that Michael sings about.
My story has a happy ending. Yes, she accepted me back with love and kindness. A few days later I was on a completely new track that would ultimately lead me to success.
There’s a lesson we all can take away from this story. Good relationships can survive adversity so long as there is trust and loyalty. With those two values present, genuine, abiding love will maintain itself even through the worst of times. We were together 55 years. We experienced trust and loyalty every one of those years. This probably doesn’t qualify as lore, but I offer it up as a story worth repeating. Be well, Treeper friends. 🙂
Hey Garrison, that was very nice of you to let us share in a little part of your story. I think it is stories like that, which give some anchor of normalcy for us, when the way of this world has sure lost its rudder bands, of the real meaning of love and friendship. I only had three aunts and uncles (couples) that stayed together their whole life. Everyone else, including my parents, couldn’t make it work. I think you’re very right with that: present, genuine, abiding love (that isn’t dependent upon things going good), trust and loyalty; are what makes life bearable. Finding someone who will really be your family, is absolutely a miracle from God.
Realizing the importance of trust and loyalty was a long time coming. But when the little light came on it was like “daayyam—why didn’t I think of this earlier”. 🙂

No, my concerns were about a marriage that had hit some rough spots. What’s important is that with her help I rather quickly pulled out of a steep nose-dive and then went on to find success. Couldn’t have done that without her. Much later I understood that we moved through that particular drama because we trusted and were loyal to each other. If you have that, you can survive just about anything. Honest.

It was getting close to midnight -after quite a long day-, and while the bed was calling me, Ma was spunky …still wide awake.
Listening to your first music selection grabbed her attention; watching the video with her magnifying glass.
We then listened to the next song; Ma still watching, and then the next song, and the next.
She knew the last one enough to sing and “la la” along ; seemingly enchanted while studying Murphy’s photo.
When the fourth song ended Ma asked; with a pleasant smile and calm expression, “What kind of music is that? What is it called?”
We sat there for a moment, and then I told her (reminded her) about you … and your wife; The bits of you that you have told here.
There was a kind of magical connection we had together —with a mystical human; a beautiful… lovely… simple …. special man.
Then off to bed we went.

You know, (Wildfire is my favorite also, as I guess it is a lot of people’s), When I heard him tell how he wrote the song; I had a totally different idea of what it was about. Michael Murphy said that he was up late with a friend trying to write some new songs, and he fell asleep; and he dreamed about a magic horse. So when he woke up, that’s where the inspiration came from. I thought that it was about his girlfriend who had died one winter in a Nebraska blizzard, because she went out chasing her horse, who broke out of his stall, and got lost. Meanwhile, he was up in the moonlight planting, while waiting for her to show up on Wildfire, so they could ride off (and get married I guess). But the hoot owl for six nights crying to him, was for telling him his girl was lost; and that’s all she lasted out there, was six days. Such a sad tragedy!

Well, finding trust and loyalty early on was a contributing factor. Realizing that was a long time coming but—tellingly—it can exist without complete, conscious understanding. I think it was a gift from Our Lord.
Simply put and looking back, we were meant to be together. I know I would not have made it without her. I’ve been so blessed to have Our Lord in my life literally as long as I can remember. I think His hand was present in our long marriage.

You are right. I think today most entering into marriage anticipate that the hot fires which burn on the day will keep the same level forever. But life is never like that. Marriage is always a work under construction. The terms of the “contract” are up front…for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.
And I’d add in good times and in bad, which come for each at different times…those cracks sometimes small and sometimes bigger which change appear one never knows when. It happens in every marriage…the foundation must include, as you so eloquently state, trust and loyalty.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. We all know how good words and good intentions can be nefariously parsed out from the whole things said, and taken out of context, with intention to build other contradicting narratives. We can all agree, that it is an adversarial mind that wants to add to or take away from something said, for reasons of obscuring the truth, and keeping those who were intended to be its beneficiaries from realizing their benefits. How much greater a matter is it then, when these things are done with the Word of God? There are very specific commands for warning against adding to or taking away from God’s words: (Deut. 12:32; Prov. 30:6; & Rev. 22:18). In addition, there are many places where we are instructed and warned by examples of false teachers and false prophets; how to know them, what they are all about and why someone listens to them, and what is the catastrophic end of everyone who follows them. It is for this reason that God has given us His Holy Spirit, and has given us an understanding that we may know Him; so we can discern what spirits are indeed of God, and which spirits are not. “You shall know them by their fruits.”
Now the reason for pounding on this point with respect to today’s Scriptures, is because of what is commonly mistaken about the meaning of what the LORD said: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” The way this precious word is most commonly [mis]used, is nothing in the context of everything the LORD is here saying. He is not putting up a barricade, or vaunting His superiority; as many suggest; to use as a cudgel on the righteous, and to discourage those whom the LORD is not discouraging.
We have to understand the Scriptures in the context in which they have been written. Too many times we hear Scriptures used in a “stand alone” fashion; especially to support an only partially understood doctrine; but while completely missing the entire context in which it was written. The words of the prophet are being spoken to a people which should know and understand their God, but are lost and in rebellion, and not what He made them to be. The tenor of the LORD’s words is to awaken them to their condition, to make them think about the worth and purpose of their lives, in that they are not thinking like God, and are not walking in His ways.
John 17:20-23 “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word; that they all may be one; as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in Us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me. And the glory which Thou gavest Me I have given them; that they may be one, even as We are one: I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.”
Israel was supposed to be a sign and a wonder to the nations, to instruct them unto Christ. In their own generations, they were supposed to be the Epistles of Christ, just as we are in our generations; written not with pen and ink, or chiseled into stone; but written with the Spirit of God upon the fleshy tables of the heart. Don’t you remember what Jesus said to Nicodemus, when He was telling him about the New Birth from above, and all He got was a big question mark on Nicodemus’ face, “You are the teacher of Israel, and these things you know not? Verily I say to you, We speak that we do know, and testify that We have seen; and you receive not Our testimony.” All throughout the Scriptures, from the beginning, the elect have always been for signs and wonders, to instruct men unto salvation in Christ. “The Spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.” And, “We are the epistles of Christ, known and read of all men.” To those who are called His people, but have not His mind, nor His Spirit, and whose ways nothing resemble the grace that is supposed to be wrought in them; these are the ones to whom this word is.
Again, it is not for setting boundaries and pushing God back into heaven away from us; but for showing the sin and short-coming and missing the mark; with the intention of then fulfilling all the good that has up till now been withheld. For the completion of this word is accomplished in those who believe in Jesus, and says plainly, that His word will produce in us all that He sends it to do, and it will not return to him void. If we have received the word in a good and honest heart, and it has sent down its root into our hearts, and is sprouted and growing strong, and maturing in His grace and knowledge; then we do in fact know His thoughts and His ways; “For our conversation is in heaven; with Him who is made higher than all, and has all authority and power and understanding; and the Light dwells with Him.
That His word shall not return to Him void, means that His work in us to completely restore us into His image and likeness, He will finish. What He has begun, He will completely make full and perfect. Our faith is not in empty words and fantasy, but in the eternal power and divinity of God and His Word. The Lord Jesus Christ being exalted to the right hand of God, and given Authority over all and Glory above all, is our guarantee and security, that the Father’s word shall prosper in the thing He sends it to do. We in Christ, is “what He sends His word to do!”

The horse, an Arabian/Palomino mix whose real name was Bamboo Harvester, was euthanized at age 21 in 1970, not 1979. He was suffering from kidney problems and arthritis, and was too heavy to get up by himself without assistance. There were rumors of it having been done accidentally by a substitute caregiver who gave him too large of a tranquilizer overdose.
The horse that died in 1979 was another one, a Palomino named Punkin’ used only for publicity photos, who did not appear in the show. I met their trainer, Les Hilton once.

I met <Frank Inn>(Benji trainer) with “benjean”?(spelling) that he did for a Benji movie in Mooresville IN which is just south of his home in Camby, wasn’t exactly a well attended event as I recall, but I spoke with him for a while, waiting for mom to pick me up from the theater, and playing with the dog of course.

I know there were probably dozens of Lassies, he (they were all male) never made the list I refer to, but did add to my vocabulary <merkin> long ago.
Indeed, it was common practice with animal actors. There were a couple of extra Triggers owned by Roy Rogers used for public appearances outdoors. And you’re right about those multiple Lassies, all of whom were MALE collies (LOL).
I dearly love animals, and lived in Southern California for long enough to meet a lot of those guys. The main Lassie guy was Rudd Weatherwax, and I think his son took over after him. I was disappointed I never met Higgins aka “Benji”, who had also been the dog on Petticoat Junction, but Edgar Buchanan (Uncle Joe) told me what a smart fella he had been. That scruffy guy was a rescue!
Joe’s Outdoor Dining Service has a variety of customers. Not 2, but 3 possums on the front porch tonite.

Good afternoon, monticello It was a great surprise to me when I learned my British husband was a huge lover of Morricone’s music. Until we met I had never paid attention to it.
On Friday nights at 8 pm central, there is a program on Sirius XM Symphony channel which is dedicated entirely to music from films. And I will tell you that I’ve found much of what they have played is truly emotive and beautiful. And could stand on its own even without a film to go with it. Astoundingly so.

Good morning all. For the first time since we gotdown here to Daytona Beach I’m feeling rested and well. It is “Bikers Week” here and so we will not be going over to the Beach this week. Too much mayhem and drunkenness.
At Allison’s school there is a female traffic director at the entrance that wears gloves that are cartoon like hands and waves and does a little dance as everyone enters. Never seen anything like it! No problem dropping off, but it is well over an hour wait to pick them up. It’s either get their early and be near the head of the line, or get their later and be in a line that stretches for blocks.

Too far to walk. Allison is going to a school on the peninsula and the girls live on the mainland. The school is 15 minutes away and you have to cross a causeway to get to it from where they live. But it’s a very good school, especially for being a public school.
They looked into putting her in the Catholic school that is located right next to the school she goes to, but tuition was really high. Almost as much as tuition at a regular university.
I made it my mission to get as close to the front as I could for our grand kiddos’ school runs. It gave us more time together until their mother picked them up. They drive now. My work here is done…and I really miss it.
Yep, near the front is better even if you have to be an hour or more early.

And they lied about the efficacy and safety of the injections, even changing the definition of the word “vaccination” to try and help cover their lies. And I’m sure they’re still lying about the efficacy of natural immunity, only now grudgingly admitting that natural immunity is at least as good of protection as their shots. This truck driver going to all those different places and dealing with all the different people had it early on and has never had it again, while time and again we see people that have had the shots get infected again.

The reason for this is the absence of the resurrection life of Jesus. The soul has got out of intimate contact with God by leaning to its own religious understanding. There is no sin in it, and no punishment attached to it; but when the soul realizes how he has hindered his understanding of Jesus Christ, and produced for himself perplexities and sorrows and difficulties, it is with shame and contrition he has to come back.
We need to rely on the resurrection life of Jesus much deeper down than we do, to get into the habit of steadily referring everything back to Him; instead of this we make our common-sense decisions and ask God to bless them. He cannot, it is not in His domain, it is severed from reality. If we do a thing from a sense of duty, we are putting up a standard in competition with Jesus Christ. We become a “superior person,” and say – “Now in this matter I must do this and that.” We have put our sense of duty on the throne instead of the resurrection life of Jesus. We are not told to walk in the light of conscience or of a sense of duty, but to walk in the light AS GOD IS IN THE LIGHT. When we do anything from a sense of duty, we can back it up by argument; when we do anything in obedience to the Lord, there is no argument possible; that is why a saint can be easily ridiculed.

The points I think he is bringing out, have to be more plainly expressed. . . I just get a feeling while I’m reading, that its left too much in the abstract. For example, “Many a Christian worker has left Jesus Christ alone and gone into work from a sense of duty, or from a sense of need arising out of his own particular discernment.” The sentence doesn’t say clearly WHAT is the matter; but goes right to his psycho-analysis: which I agree with, and think is good and important; but just doesn’t show how he came to this thought.
You probably think I’m nit-picking; and maybe I am; but I’m just saying how I read it. If I didn’t know what he was talking about, how I could benefit from the rest of what he says, putting all together?
Please don’t take it personal. We should be able to have our opinions and not be afraid of someone thinking by themselves, or questioning what is said. I only wish there would be some of that with the things I post! Maybe that’s why I do speak up; because I want to show, that I’m actually looking for some interaction myself?

Many have wondered, if God is good, why are there so many starving children in the world? In truth, God has given enough food on this earth to feed every person. Some of the responsibility for sustenance lies with God’s people. In the Bible, the Lord repeatedly exhorts His people to help the poor.
However, there are many reasons why the poor are poor, and sometimes the solution is deeper than simply giving food or money. Programs can offer microloans to start businesses or buy chickens or goats to help the poor build sustainable incomes.
The old saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you can feed him for a lifetime,” holds true. Also, various lifestyles, such as drug addiction, result in great hardships for the entire family. Around the world, there are different levels of problems that require a variety of solutions.
You need not throw your hands up in despair at worldwide poverty.
Ask God for wisdom to do your part. Refer to and think about the following scriptures, including the verse following today’s, “They are always generous and lend freely: their children will be a blessing” (Psalm 37:26)—Leviticus 19:9-10, 1 John 3:17-18, Luke 3:11, James 2:15-18, Proverbs 19:17.
As you meditate on those verses, ask God for creative ideas to help those who are desperate for help. Pray that the people of the United States would return to the Lord to receive His blessings so that their needs will be met and they may benefit the whole world. Ask that His people will show more love and compassion to the poor.

BTW a loaf of regular white bread costs $4.99 here at Daytona Beach. We went shopping at the local Publix and one standard grocery cart full cost $339.00. We did have 4 nice Ribeye steaks and a medium sized sirloin tip roast, but that was the only meat in the cart and had no seafood.
Publix is a high quality grocer chain but they are pricey.
I don’t mind frequenting them while in their area on vacation but I do get sticker shock at times.

Birds are happy today . I’m looking at a bluebird right now . When the sun is hitting him it’s so pretty. Trouble is I don’t have much sun at all in my yard . I’m under a big canopy so I gotta appreciate him when the sun peeks through. There’s only one blue bird at a time comes around . There will be more and more each day . I would say I have about ten to twelve different kinds . There is three kinds of woodpeckers in my yard that a pretty . I give em food but not too much. I buy this food with pepper in it . Other critters won’t eat it but it is not cheap. Can’t wait for the rest of the clan to return , most are here but a few are still missing including the hummers . I want the hummingbirds back. Where the heck do they go anyways.

We suddenly have Mr and Mrs Woodpecker, a new couple to our home. I have a seedcake (and a suet cake for Mr and Mrs) which attracts cardinals, jays, and various tiny vocal birds which are, I think, Carolina wrens. Their sweet loud songs fill the morning air.
So far I’ve not seen our mockingbirds this year, though I know they will arrive or come out of hiding. Occasionally I will be standing outside when one starts to sing…
A couple of times with one tune, then a different one, then another and so on. Each one varying. I stood and counted how many variations on a theme this one fellow sang. Got up to 26 before I had to withdraw.
And funny you mention hummingbirds! We have just come back in from positioning our feeder with great hopes we might see one. Last year one and one only flew right up to my face for a few seconds before flying off. We immediately bought a proper feeder and fastened it to a shaded branch…but alas, never saw another.
It gets so hot here that it is difficult to find a spot that doesn’t heat the glass. So I am in hopes that any migrating will see that I have welcomed them. Hoping so. They are so lovely😍

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. Yesterday I was reminded of the popular 1986 book All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum. The key points are:
“These are the things I learned (in Kindergarten):
1. Share everything.

Let’s see, a woman named Tiffany Miles caused a ruckus on an flight to DC because the first class crew wasn’t bringing her drink fast enough. Airplane had to make an emergency landing when she tried to get into the cockpit. Arrested, but then charges were dropped and it all just goes away (??!!).
Hmmmmmm. First Class? Entitled? Above the law? Sounds like someone is REALLY connected.
So I googled her name, and what do you know? The mother of Tom Hanks’ granddaughter has the same name. Photos. We got photos. One recent and one 6 years old. I can’t tell from the photos. Yeah, I got nothin’ better to do.
