Remember when people said I was crazy when I said we were going to destroy ESG?
It’s noteworthy ALSO that the Vanguard CEO acknowledged ESG as … “political”. Thus meaning it has NO worth in reality. Nobody is “saving the planet”, or “saving animals”, or even “saving themselves” thru ESG investing. It’s nothing more than empty virtue signaling. It’s what non-Christians do to make themselves feeeeeeeeeel “saved”. They’re not.
After receiving our annuity statement a few months back and seeing a loss of almost $20,000 I contacted them and asked them to send me the paperwork so we could withdrawal our money and move it somewhere else. The person on the phone asked me a couple of questions about why I wanted to do this. I explained to them that I understood investments can lose money, but I could no longer trust them after learning that they would be investing in ESG investments. I told them I do not want to fund the salaries of a group of people who do not understand politics has no place personal investment.
We decided to not withdraw it all but did take a big chunk out of our account and put in an account at a credit union.
Then I contacted a few people I know who have annuity accounts with this company and asked them to do the same, using the same reason I used. I said it didn’t matter if they wanted to withdraw their funds or not, just make the point that you will not invest in crazy. They could always shred the paperwork when they received it in the mail.

I withdrew all of my retirement account into my credit union. It was Valic then I believe Vanguard. I got close to retirement and knew I could never make up such a big loss again like yours. Which I had taken earlier in investments.
I also moved my wife into a fixed account because she is close and had lost a good bit lately, but made most of it back. Enough………

Bernie Sanders is hysterically shouting about student loan forgiveness being necessary to avoid the financial ruin of the former college students being crushed with student loan debt.
The solution seems pretty simple. Make the colleges and universities pay off the loans. They were the recipients of the proceeds borrowed by the students now saddled with debt.
The colleges hold billions of dollars in endowments.
When people are defrauded of money, as in the case of worthless college degrees, you make the fraudsters pay back the stolen money. The colleges royally screwed the students through these loans and gave them back nothing of monetary value.
This seems to be an excellent example of fraud demanding a class action lawsuit against the colleges demanding they repay the student loans.
There’s an even better way to deal with that. Make that student loan debt dis-chargeable through bankruptcy like it used to be, aside from stopping the underwriting of loans by the Federal Government.
Maybe when it is more of their money on the line the colleges and universities might be more judicious with who they lend to, and for particular degrees.
Mostly a pipe dream I think. There’s too many that like the system as it stands to meaningfully change it, with it being so profitable for a select few.

The colleges got fat off these loans. Make the colleges eat the billions of dollars they defrauded from the students and force the colleges to pay it back to the lending banks on behalf of the students the colleges swindled.
The U.S. government guaranteed those loans. Colleges imposed TRILLIONS of dollars in crushing student debt in exchange for worthless college degrees they issued to the SUCKERS.
Maybe some more clarity is in order.
They should, as you say eat that bill given the level of egregious fraud involved for past student loans.
Going forward however, the dynamic needs to change which is more of what I was getting at with the colleges and universities underwriting any future loans.
And when early investors in a Ponzi scheme walk away with the money, the claw that money back to help all the losers.
But don’t hold the banks blameless. They knew these loans could not be paid back. That is why they insisted on the loan guarantees.
