SPECIAL COUNSEL CROSSES THE RUBICON?
That is what Andy McCarthy thinks. The Democrats desperately want to indict Donald Trump, for something–anything. They pretty clearly intended to charge him with mishandling classified documents, a chickenfeed offense under the circumstances, but that fizzled when it turned out that Joe Biden has much worse problems.
So now they are back to the mostly-peaceful protest of January 6. McCarthy thinks that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s subpoena of Mike Pence is highly significant:
The New York Times reports that former vice president Mike Pence has been subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury probing former president Donald Trump’s role in the events that led to the January 6 Capitol riot. The subpoena was issued by Jack Smith, the special counsel appointed in November by Biden administration attorney general Merrick Garland.
What’s it all about?
The criminal investigation is focused on whether Trump’s “stop the steal” campaign between Election Day on November 8, 2020, and the constitutionally mandated joint session of Congress to count state-certified electoral votes on January 6, 2021, violated federal criminal laws — among others, conspiracy to obstruct Congress and to defraud the United States.
As of January 6, Trump had a legal theory, which was supported by legal scholar John Eastman. Their theory was that Pence, as vice president, had constitutional authority over the certification of the presidential election that was not merely ministerial. Andy calls this theory “frivolous,” while I would settle for weak. OK, very weak, although no weaker than the theory that the Constitution requires legal abortion or gay marriage. But so what?
After the vice president rightly rejected the notion that he had the authority to invalidate or suspend the counting of electoral votes, Trump reprehensibly put him in physical peril by denouncing Pence in a tweet even though the Capitol was by then already under siege.
Pence is thus a direct witness to both the plan to derail Congress’s counting of the votes and the actual obstruction that occurred — delaying by several hours the completion of the vote-counting and affirmation of Biden’s victory.
I agree with Andy’s judgment that indicting Trump on January 6-related grounds would be flimsy at best:
It is a hard case to make because, in essence, the Justice Department would be arguing that a frivolous legal theory at some point transmogrified into a felony fraud and obstruction. That would be a promiscuous precedent for federal prosecutors to set — frivolous legal theories are very common, and it’s always been thought that, for the sake of promoting zealous legal defense, we should be content to rebuke such theories without criminalizing them.
A subpoena for the former vice president of the United States strongly suggests that the Justice Department is poised to go down this perilous path, and that a final decision on that score is probably nearing.
If the Democrats do choose to indict Trump, the prosecution will be venued in the District of Columbia. If the case gets to a jury, the jury will likely consist entirely of Democrats, most of them rabid Democrats. It is hard to see a D.C. jury acquitting Trump on whatever charges the Democrats ultimately bring, if they get that far. I don’t know what the timing will be. Maybe Trump will be on trial or in prison during the 2024 primary season.
It is, in some ways, an odd situation. Put aside for a moment the banana republic aspect of criminally prosecuting the loser of an election. (In Game of Thrones terms, it is “you win or you die.” Some mistakenly thought we had progressed beyond that standard.) The Democrats’ base desperately wants Trump to be indicted, but in my view, that is contrary to their interests. If Trump is indicted, still more if he is imprisoned, he won’t get the Republican nomination. But Democrats should want Trump to be the nominee, since he is the one prominent Republican who probably would lose to the decrepit Joe Biden.
For my part, I don’t want Trump indicted, still less jailed, because I cling to an ever-diminishing confidence in the integrity of our institutions.

There were credible reports of election irregularities, including sworn affidavits, which are the most common type of evidence. Failure to investigate a crime can eventually be ruled as complicity in that crime.
There were two slates of electors for a number of states. The legal provision to resolve this problem was denied to the electors who are bound to represent their constituents.
I dare not compare myself to Andy McCarthy, but his argument seems to be the weak one.

Actually ALL taxpayers paying into the system through local taxes as well as state taxes should be at board meetings. All of us are stakeholders in protecting children and ensuring them a good education. Most of us have grandchildren, nieces and nephews, etc even if we have no children in our immediate household. When children are not properly prepared to succeed, we all suffer the consequences…rampant crime, removal of our civil rights, the victory of tyrants.

At community colleges in Texas, professors have a special exemption from Social Security, meaning we won’t be receiving any when we retire. No pension is available for me. I can only rely on my 403b (much the same as a 401k except I don’t own the 403b in the sense that my investment options are more limited). That means that I am on the DAD retirement plan: dead at desk. Real estate investments have constituted my real retirement plan, although we seem to be careening into another real estate ditch.
401ks are rip offs designed to profit off of your retirement investments. They are extremely restricted in what you may choose to invest. And the costs eat away at your investments.
The upside is when the employer matches, basically increasing your income.
There is another upside but it is mixed with downsides. There is a percentage limit of what you can invest. IRAs have fixed dollar limits. $6000 or so is a lot compared to $30,000 yearly income, but 17% is much higher if you make $100,000. But to prevent rich bosses from using 401ks selfishly, there is some hidden calculation that can reduce that 17%, done after the fact, forcing extra taxes etc.
Since the upside is employer match and maybe the amount you can invest, there is no reason to leave your money in a 401k after changing jobs. As long as you move the money to something like an IRA, you won’t be hit with taxes and withdrawal penalties. And you, or an advisor of your choice can invest your money as you see fit. It also protects you from things like ENRON.
But there are lots of little pitfalls. Don’t make much money and you can put money tax free in both. Make money and you have to choose one or the other. etc.
And don’t invest in the 401K Retirement year fund selections.

President Trump transmitted a message to congress, warning them not to cut Social Security and Medicare {Direct Rumble Link}. Many politicians and pundits will look at Trump’s position from the perspective of it being good to campaign for older voters, but that’s not the core of his reasoning.

President Trump does not consider these programs as “entitlements”. The American people pay into them, and the federal government has an obligation to fulfill the promises made upon collection.

The issue with Social Security, as viewed by Trump, is more of an issue with receipts and expenditures. If the aggregate U.S. economy is growing by a factor larger than the distribution needed to fulfill its entitlement obligations, then no wholesale change on expenditure is needed. The focus needs to be on continued and successful economic growth.

Fortunately, we do not have to guess if President Trump is correct. We have his actual economic policy results to look at and see how the expansion of the economy was creating the type of growth that would sustain Social Security and Medicare. This was/is MAGAnomics at work.

The problem with SS and Medicare is they are actuarily unsound. Recipients no longer pay in amounts sufficient to cover their benefits. Combine that with the fact that it is a pure Ponzi scheme with pay as you go instead of investment accounts and it will soon collapse. There are not enough workers paying in to cover the payouts that are coming do. Our leaders screwed it up just as they do with everything else. Also SS and Medicare/Medicaid are over 60% of the total budget now. You cannot cut government programs enough to fix the budget. SS and government health care has to be the focus.
Their beholden to Big Pharma and the healthcareless Industry is the major reason Medicare ,Medicaid cost are out of control. So maybe this is the reason recipients pay in insufficient amounts……….
Who said they wanted to trim? And by the way money going to foreign wars and countries should go first before affecting our citizens.
The fascist model of the American health care system keeps the medical oligarchs rich and the American people bled white. Meanwhile the US government spends over $1 trillion per year on health care, easily much more than on defense. The crazy socialized system sparks huge medical inflation. The Obama system covering most of the rest is pure fascism, benefiting only the medical corporate masters. The American people were left out of consideration.
The federal government is about equally adept at spending money in the defense department. Out “warriors” can’t even pacify/defeat a bunch of goat-herders in Afghanistan.
Thus affecting Medicare and Medicaid cost. Thank you.

Some of the problem is people see the doc when they don’t need to. Annual checkups are unnecessary if you are healthy. Follow up appointments line the doctors’ pockets further when most followups are not necessary. A lot of this is our fault for not managing our diet, exercise and general well-being.
I have been very unhappy that the US mainstream media has refused to mention the stunning article by Seymour Hersh about the Nordstream pipelines and the involvement of the US in the destruction of those. It has made me angry that this evil government is not being revealed to ordinary US citizens or being called on the carpet for a terrorist act of war.
But then I realized. Westerners are not the only consumers of information. The entire global south is reading the US news, watching Tucker Carlson, spreading the information. The US is going to pay for its terrorism. It probably won’t happen immediately (as I would like to see), but in the long term all we citizens of the west will pay a price.
Countries of the world are beginning to look to Russia and China for a way out of the death-grip that the US has had on the world economies, out of our sanctions, our coups, our “rules-based order”, our perversion of human relationships, our immorality and crime, our military “interventions”. Hence, the welcome to Sergey Lavrov in Africa and the growth of BRICS and SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization).

I have a solution for this. It does require control of at least one branch of Congress but the Speaker should be able to give the news stations a list of topics under discussion and the media must report them. If they don’t they lose their license.

What a lot of the people leading the fight against the covid/vaxx scam don’t realize, is that yes, many involved were so due to greed and incompetence.
That, however, does not rule out the possibility of others, in the shadows, being involved for diabolical reasons, such as what you describe.
The WEF keeps telling us what their goals are; we keep seeing efforts made to starve and freeze millions of people, yet when we speak of the methods they may be using to further their goals, we are in tinfoil hat territory.

I’ve begun researching where to get my food once mrna gets into the food supply. Based on USDA comments and Australian government’s timeline, the timeline is short, this is coming fast.
Mrna vaccines are coming for our pets too. So either I need to relocate to a state that does not mandate certain pet vaccinations or I need to find a vet that I can trust to protect my pets from mrna vaccines as mrna vaccines are coming to replace traditional pet vaccines.
These new livestock and pet vaccines are not covid-19 vaccines so spike protein isn’t the issue, but this genetic re-programming mrna platform is a problem, at least for me.

You are correct that the jab isn’t likely the spike protein per se but the mRNA with program the animals’ own cells to produce an antigen which the animals’ bodies will recognize as foreign and dangerous. The innate immune system when then be trained to destroy those cells that have been reprogrammed to make the antigen. Kill enough of these cells or critical cells such as heart, lung and neuro and you kill the animal.

The multinational corporations and banks are no longer hiding their greedy eyes on Ukraine. The Daily Telegraph reports that the UK is in talks with Ukraine trying to ensure that Britain is the first to sign relevant contracts with Ukraine to manufacture British weapons. So Zelensky’s visit to Britain wasn’t just about weapons. It was also about money laundering and profits into the future.
The US media has mentioned BlackRock’s involvement, but many other western companies are now negotiating with Kiev to set up military production companies and investment opportunities in re-building Ukraine.
The reason for all the military equipment being sent – not enough weapons to win against Russia, but enough to retain a rump Ukraine with plenty of spoils to be plundered by the multinational corporations and banks. With military bases where the US can install an armory of US-manufactured weapons for future engagements in the area.
