I would, but my elderly and cancer stricken mother counts on my help. She’s far too weak to move. And for some reason, my husband refuses to budge. He uses the weather as an excuse, claiming he can’t stand cold weather, but talks of moving to the part of Texas where they were buried in snow not long ago. I want to move where MY children are. So I guess we’re stuck here.

When I left in 2005 California ripped me off. I took a capital gain from the sale of a property. CA took the tax on the sales price and claimed that I could apply for a refund since the tax was supposed to be only on the gain. When I applied for the refund, it was denied costing me $16,000. I should have done a 1031 exchange.

The German foreign intelligence service assesses that Kiev is losing a “three-digit number” of soldiers daily, according to a report in Der Spiegel. Berlin informed politicians of the assessment during a secret meeting this week.
Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) is “alarmed” by the high number of losses Ukraine is suffering. The report says Berlin believes Ukraine was losing a three-digit number of soldiers every day during the battle of Bakhmut with Russian forces. The BND informed German politicians of the high number of injured and killed Ukrainian forces during a covert Bundestag meeting last week.
The BND believes the Ukrainian casualties will have severe consequences during future battles. The German intelligence service also believes that Russia is suffering high casualties and using its soldiers as “cannon fodder.” [as I’ve said here, just as they did against Germany in WWII – W]
Reuters reported officials in Washington believe Kiev spent significant resources attempting to defend Bakhmut. The White House is currently advising Ukraine not to launch any major counteroffensives to recapture the city.

If Ukraine is truly losing too many of its fighting men, as I’ve said before, we have plenty of reinforcements coming in over the border every day. NYC’s mayor doesn’t know where to put all the ones who have shown up in his city.

Good morning, all! Here’s my tip for the day – a book review of “American Awakening” by Joshua Mitchell – I read the review and immediately went and purchased the book, it’s on the nightstand to begin reading tonight.

I jumped at reading it because the review indicated that Mitchell’s exposition posited that “… a theological solution to a theological problem…” is the only curative for what ails us. He correctly identifies the problem of Identity Politics as a religion, a point of view I believe is a necessary departure point for any moral and God-fearing person to assume when pondering a way thru, and 0ut, of the present madness girpping the world.
He goes on to posit Christianity as the only solution to the delineated problem, and I bought the book to bolster further my own belief that the secular war against God himself is at root the cause of our problems. The savages are hacking at the roots of the Tree of Life, girdling the Tree of Knowledge, in their frenzied rush to destroy Western Civilization and seize absolute power, absolutely.
Pray for America, harden you heart, open your mind, free your soul, learn, teach, and preach. We are the Remnant, and we can see the Promised Land from our front porches. Let’s get cracking!

I found out something about why the Germans are hesitant to send their Leopard tanks to Ukraine, other than ideological questions about German tanks and escalating the conflict.
1) There is only one active plant in all of NATO that welds tank hulls and it is for the Leopard tank – a factory in Greece. Sending the tanks would compromise the security of their design.
2) The US offers to replace Leopard tanks with US tanks. The US then would get long term contracts for parts, replacements, and repairs as well as control of the weapons in that country, rather than Germany. So Germany would lose its market share to the US in the long term and lose some control over their neighbors’ tank stock.
However, WarGonzo reports that 2 Leopard tanks have been sighted already in Nikolaev.

In league with the Orthodox Church (with which I am fascinated!), he has resoundingly rejected all of GloboHomo and the attendant evils, and is neither shy nor ashamed of declaring what used to be our own motto, “In God We Trust”.
What is it about the Greek Orthodoxy that fascinates me? I have actually pondered checking into a Monastery; the fact that there are people from all walks of life that have assumed to monastic life with the Orthodox. The driving principle is the very personal subjugation of the ‘I’ and the will to a life of contemplation of the Miracle of Christ, and spending time in active prayer for the saving and resurrection of His Church in the world of today. When I ask, ‘what can I, one small inconsequential man on Earth today, do to foster a return to sanity and Holiness for the people of the world?”, the Orthodox answer is to live a life devoted entirely to prayer for, and contemplation of, the Glory of God in the Earth.
The call is strong, hence my appreciation for Archbishop Vigano’s messages of Salvation, and discussions of The Third Rome, which is the Orthodox Church in Russia.
Putin is not a fool. Our fools cannot understand him. I say, more power to him, Russia may well be the Salvation of the Soul on Earth, and by extension, in Heaven.

I agree with you. Russia, not the USSR, may indeed be the Salvation of the world. I run the risk of being shot down on that one, but this is something I’ve considered for a long time as we in the west are swallowed whole by everything antithetical to all the Bible teaches.
I have long loved the music which has come from Russia’s fine composers, their architecture, the cleanliness of their cities, their art, their churches and their patriotic fervor.
And I have, like you, thought often about what one soul can do amongst billions to help in the resurrection of His Church (as you so eloquently state). Your contemplation of a monastic retreat, if I may call it that, is a moving consideration. You’ve obviously been thinking about this for a while.
Where we are today cannot be sustained for any great length of time, so putrid and debauched have governments become…..wood worm has infected all our civil and spiritual architecture. Archbishop Vigano has made it clear. There is no more time to ignore any of it. And as he is God’s good servant and (I feel) messenger, I listen to every precious word he utters or writes.
In the end, this is without question Almighty God’s battle. And we are His soldiers in it, wherever we are, wherever He has placed us. If He has placed Putin in His service, then may God be with him as he fights our enemies, satanic creatures all as we now can clearly discern .

Ok, coming round for one more – I found a link to this excellent film last night, and watched the whole thing spellbound. Titled “Best in Hell”, this is a Russian movie, with English subtitles, that depicts a single day’s work for soldiers in both the Russian and Uke armies. It is war, and there is of course death and gore and heartbreak, but beneath the horror is a extremely well done exposition of modern warfare enabled by technology.
It also presents a microcosmic focus on a single operational area, on a single day, and tacitly exposes the sheer magnitude of the conflict at large by this tight focus. Multiplying this by time and space yields an exponential depiction of the massive undertaking and expenditure of equipment, ammo, lives, and fortunes playing out over what is fast approaching a solid year of warfare at this scale in Ukraine.
