Well, with no budget to work on and we know no Jan 6 reveal or investigation (“well, dang it, ya know, we can’t make the documents public, ya know it wouldn’t be right……we are taking the high road ya know even if they made Trump taxes public”) McCarthy’s speaker tenure is going to be the most neutered…..or in his case……spayed speakership.
As of Jan 2, only some of the documents have been handed over to the National Archives, and as far as I know, have yet to be ‘sealed’.
In saying that, the House retains ownership of committee records even when they’ve been transmitted to the National Archives and can temporarily recall them at any time for official committee use.
Also, McCarthy needs to stand by his November 30 letter sent to Bennie Thompson (Chairman J6 ‘committee’) in regard to retaining ALL documents used in the clown show that was the J6 ‘committee’.

Personally I don’t think McCarthy will really do much about the January 6th mess except to lay more blame on the conservatives and Trump.

I don’t see it as loss. I am very proud of all of the 20 who stood strong. They stood strong to pressure behind he scenes and in public and that includes those who are first term Reps. This is the first time MAGA has flexed its muscle in Congress! How is that a failure? One step at a time folks. After the first couple of votes, it was very obvious that no other viable candidate would step forward (ala Paul Ryan). So the game changed to the backroom deals and concessions that McCarthy would be willing to put in the rules to gain speakership.
From what I’ve read, from both sides of the aisle, McCarthy is effectively neutered….and that’s not a loss. Pragmatism wins the day. Thank those who stood firm.
I’m also hugely disappointed in Marjorie Taylor Greene. With McCarthy, she looked like a school girl with a silly crush on McCarthy — but then again, she was of course posturing for relevance and committees. Trump has recently made some bonehead moves. One is supporting McCarthy, which may have been a poison pill move to prevent Democrats from electing speaker. Another is continuing to promote “his” mRNA jabs which have been killing young people in record numbers and shortening the lives of the elderly who have been boosted. It the past it has been trolls, but many who are totally MAGA are re-evaluating Trump.

I wasn’t happy, to say the least, learning that PT made calls urging the 21 (then down to Magnificent 7) “rebel” holdouts to change their votes. Talk about interfering with an election… But by changing their votes, even to “Present,” they denied Jeffries a potential presidency. I don’t believe Biden can be propped up into 2024, and the Dems will find some excuse for Harris to fade away.
Will McCarthy renege on any promises made? More than likely. But Jeffries would not have made any concessions at all. He would not have had to. With McCarthy in, extraordinary people like Gaetz will keep after him, chipping away.
Just being pragmatic here. And last thought: if Jim Jordan had stepped into the gap, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I wonder what promises were made to Jordan.

One thing has been exposed with all this week’s melodrama, people are still too emotionally swayed and so are still extremely subject to being led like sheep wherever the narrative takes them.
One instance so-and-so is the hero and the next day that same hero is sentenced to utter damnation over – a narrative; well scripted narrative, but even now we can easily identify the work of the Uniparty has made significant inroads merely by creating the split in the MAGA base by creating this “divide” using the time tested purity narrative (she’s gone to Trump’s side; no! it’s him who never did know how to hire people)… and the divide grows; and the Uniparty has now two years to complete their divide and conquer ploy.
Good on ya Gaetz. Enjoy the rewards. He does realize that old scandal that went away the deep state swampers will bring it back when it’s their time to remove him, right?

I never suspected McCarthy would not ultimately be SOH, because there was no candidate that the mass of others could move to support. Jordan didn’t want it and I’m not convinced he is that broadly admired. Scalese maybe, but same issue. There was also a danger, in that IF Kevie withdrew they would have to find ONE consensus candidate without opposition, since the NY commie was the Dim’s unanimous choice.
The conservative patriots fought hard and got a LOT of concessions on rules, changes, and actions going forward. Much more than I would have expected. I’m sure these will all be laid out in detail to memorialize and present the case formally.
How well will these be executed and acted on? Impossible to know. McCarthy and company could drive this well and surprise, or he may manipulate things to prove his sniveling Uniparty stripes over and over.
In summary, it is possible that we won some significant ground in this war…and it is a bloody trail to try and claw back our Republic from the cabal. Still not convinced we can turn it all around, but I’ll take what we can.

Just the impact of a 10% rise in death rate of the vaccinated in the working age demographic has dramatic impacts on society. This is a 40% rise. Just with the deaths, there will be big changes to how society works. The prayer is that someone will figure out how to reverse the damage in our young people. They have figured out how to treat them, but it depends on how much damage is done before treatment is sought. I suspect it also depends on exactly which organs are impacted. My understanding is that they have treatments that help the heart, some that help the brain and little that help the nervous system.
I have to say, there is an unspoken agreement in this family that the unvaccinated at some point will be the only ones left. It is sad but reality. The next few decades, scary, I don’t want to think about it.

Listening to the wrong people. WTF was the worse that could happen retribution wise if he endorsed change. McCarthy said he would be out of Congress if he wasn’t speaker. Would be another Eric Cantor. Instead Trump made another error that will stab him in the back. If he can’t learn this is who they are, we might need someone else.
Not impossible that the decision is simply a mistake: however, President Trump certainly knows everything we know about McCarthy’s voting record.
Given that knowledge, one could interpret the decision as an effort to turn McCarthy or to use him for future support in 2024.
If McCarthy does start becoming a MAGA Conservative, then the decision is not a mistake.

Trump called them and told them to knock it off BEFORE they had any concessions from McCarthy.
