A clown world piece of news for a little humor.
Taiwan has developed a missile system called a “Carrier killer” to be used in case of Chinese invasion. One part developed by the Swiss company Leica needed repair, so the Swiss company sent it to China for repair. The parts were returned from China, but the Taiwanese didn’t notice until several months after the parts were returned that the repairs had been made in China.

Obviously, if the purposes of the alliance was truly “defensive,” they would want to maintain a buffer zone between themselves and their enemy. “The Allies” would do well to remember that the Soviets (Russia) were an ally who basically gave them their victories against both Germany and Japan. The Russians paid by far the greatest price in blood, and on their nationally-celebrated “Victory Day” every family has photographs of a loved one they had lost.
The Russians are the ones who defeated the German army. And then, it was also the Russians – no, not “the atomic bomb” – who caused the surrender of Japan.
By this point in the war, Japanese cities were being firebombed every single night. When two of them were leveled by a single explosion, everyone knew what it meant. (The “atomic secret” wasn’t that much of a secret.) But to these lunatics it simply didn’t matter.
Once the Germans had been defeated, Russia cancelled its peace treaty with Japan (used to avoid fighting on two fronts), and declared war. In eleven days they had conquered Manchuria, overcoming geographic obstacles thought to be impregnable and wiping out an elite Japanese army that had been stationed there. Then, Stalin announced that within a month his armies would be in Tokyo, having completed a very short sea journey from the west. The Japanese had no doubts now that he would do it. Therefore, the only remaining question was who to surrender to: the Allies, or their ancient enemy. They chose the former.
And to his credit, Stalin then chose to fall in line and behave as “one of the Allies.” He could have snatched their victory from them.

Something I have always been curious about is would we have loaded Russians onto our invasion fleets and kept their Japanese invasion forces supplied?
When I see our plans to take Tokyo, it looks like half an invasion, landing to the south. Were there any plans to make that a joint invasion with Russia landing to the north?
Japan was very lucky to avoid being split like Germany, Vietnam and Korea.
