What comes first, stock market collapse, or bank bail in? If it is a stock market collapse, there is a planning pathway (stay in cash and wait, buy at the generational lows). But if the bank bail in comes first, is there any way to protect against that?
Let’s assume you already have land, seeds, livestock, a water source, an energy source, bb&b and good neighbors. What do you do to protect your life’s savings from having the banks seize up/seize your money?
We know the system authorized bank bail ins in 2017. They are doing the equivalent of the table top game here – this appears to be Event 201 for bank illiquidity and failure.
IMHO, there is not enough attention being paid to this issue.
I don’t know what to do about my retirement savings. Where do I transfer it to where it won’t be frozen — or liquidated— when/as everything crashes?
If I pull it all out— considering what the IRA is up to — I pay heavy taxes— and then what do I do with the $ left over?
I don’t trust buying gold and silver either. If a company is “holding” it for customers— how are you going to trust that?

These days a “treasure” is going to a thrift store and finding a used pair of shoes that aren’t too grubby. One shoe I am wearing as I write this has a hole where rainwater gets in. This is my post-Trump reality.
I go to the thrift store all the time. I don’t buy shoes but kitchen stuff, mostly no signs of actual use. I find all kinds of things from crystal to corning ware. We have however just managed via You Tube to fix the dishwasher and my washing machine. I found parts for my kitchen aid food processor and we replaced a bathroom vent all in one month. I reckon My menfolk saved us a couple of thousand.
This is fearmongering. If we go down, so do the billionaires and multimillionaires. So do all the people in congress and scotus. These people won’t let it happen. Also people like bezos and others who own property will lose as their property will lose its value.

I am in the same position and have asked the same questions – get lots of vague answers but am still not sure which way to go. I was a career banker back in the 80s/90s but left in 2000 to homeschool my kids. I followed the old “rules” about diversifying and we have done okay, considering we were single income for the past 20 years…but my husband retired at the end of 2019 and now almost everything we saved is tied up in his 401K, which is tanking, even though it is in mostly “low risk” stocks, bonds, and cash. Between inflation and the utter unpredictability of this market, I am very afraid that we could lose it all, but like you, I don’t want to take the huge tax hit we would incur if we cashed it all out now!
I just moved a large amount of retirement money from a bank where I was getting .3% (essentially zero) to an investment firm where I’m getting 4.5% in short term (6 month) CD’s that are still FDIC protected.
Granted, that doesn’t even keep up with current inflation, but it’s a lot more than the banks and with the short terms, if things get to squirrley, I can get it back under my pillow where I had a lot of it before on short notice.
How would an investment firm be FDIC insured?
They get their CDs from the banks.
Why WE can’t get CDs from the banks at the same rates is a question that I would like answered.

Yep, for folks who still are inured to fiat currency and the banking industry, a local credit union, preferably one with little presence outside the community, would be my suggestion for parking funds, including retirement savings, if desiring to eschew the global banking industry and WEF.
Our members looked into our faces when we, members ourselves, ran for offices at the one I served at. We had a five member loan committee that approved/rejected loans, plus the other typical offices. Members ‘owned’ the credit union and member’s savings were what made the loans.
I’d consider that to be limited economic warfare against the BlackRock’s and Vanguard’s and Fidelity’s, et al, where one has substantial retirement savings. Else, it’s easy to cash out and join the alternative economy, one that has existed for centuries, and in which millions thrive.
Investment firms have brokered CDs that you can buy and sell before maturity (incurring loss/gain) depending on market. Interest accumulated creates a separate account, such as a money market fund.
You can use different banks under same account in order not to exceed FDIC $250000.
If it’s an IRA account, this helps meet the one IRS IRA transfer a year if you are holding short term CDs.
I am under the impression using trustee to trustee direct transfers of IRAs will bypass the above regulation anyway.
Also, Park Community Credit Union as of recently, has a 4%+ on 1 year CD.

vikingmom: The stock market has always been unpredictable and always will be. You should further evaluate how well you are diversified, as being only in “low risk” stocks could be part of your problem. Also, diversification means many things, from industries and specific business sectors, to geography, growth versus income, high correlation with the market versus low correlation with the market, etc.
Aiming to beat inflation is a good target, as well as generating enough income (dividends, interest) from investments so as not to be forced to invade principal.

Take a tip from the “preppers’. One needs to have trading stuff….. Items that the money grabbers don’t want to bother with, cause they would have to haul a little more (and store it and hold it also)than the actual funds. They can’t be bothered unless they have extra warehouse space. Only keep what you can use to trade…..cash or gold isn’t gonna do any good to folks like us….when the sh** hits the fan.

I think it is obvious that the U.S. Dollar is dying. Why? Because Washington DC has been having a printing money orgy and there is no sign of it letting up. What are we, 31 trillion in debt? And the Uniparty is still throwing billions at that dancing guy who wears camouflage t-shirts.
It sounds to me like you need to broaden your knowledge base and read beyond the basic rules. Start researching and listening to the likes of Robert Kiyosaki and Catherine Austin Fitts.
Then, you need to develop a strategy that works for you if the dollar crashes and the US economy goes deeper into recession/depression.
Remember even if you don’t make money right now because of inflation exceeding interest, at least you can make moves to protect principal. These times won’t last forever. If you preserve capital, you can make money on it later.
I was raised by parents who were 20 years old in 1932. They always said during hard times, “cash is king.” I would include as “cash” money in FDIC protected accounts (especially in local banks or credit unions) and the under the mattress cash ( I do not mean this literally.)
A final scary thought, I read online that 4 or 5 of the largest U.S. banks were already in bankruptcy reorganization. I have no idea if that is true but assessing the behavior of one of the major banks (where I bank) in my area, it seems highly likely. (By behavior I mean reduced services, hours, branches, employees, ATMs.) I have also noticed that it has become nearly impossible to get ten dollar bills and there seems to be a shortage of coins.
Catherine Austin Fitts is trying to convince everyone to use cash to keep it alive. Today I went to two local stores and used cash. I noticed that neither store gave me a receipt. In other words, they are possibly not declaring that as income; “under the table” as the Mexicans say. Since the lockdowns, I guess these stores need strategies to survive.

One of my friends at work has pulled out as much of his assets as he can and leaving it as cash to stop the bleeding. You can also buy physical gold/silver and have it shipped to you. Of course do not tell anyone outside of perhaps your spouse/children.
Problem with that is transaction/friction costs when you do need money for ongoing expenses. Or, if you have to move or travel to a new area.
Cash under your mattress doesn’t provide any hedge against inflation. And the US gubmint is phasing out cash payments to thwart those who hoard cash. I can’t even pay cash to buy a hotdog at the ballpark anymore. I expect more doors to close, to stymie us in our everyday transactions.
I would keep some cash on hand, of course, but also buy *tangible* assets that fluctuate in value but, unlike paper statements, are always going to be worth something.
Tangible assets like real estate, gold and precious metals will always have some value attached to them. Plus, anything we can barter.

It will be as good as money if someone will trade another tangible for what you have. Smartest way to go in the long run IMO.

If it gets to that, people holding the wealth in tangible assets, then there is a real incentive to rob people’s homes. So to the mentions above of the same, you’d need to be able to protect.
I’d say the same for real estate. Sure you own the deed but you’re going to have to be the one to enforce it.
You’re right, of course. I’m hoping we can all see each other through lean times, without turning against one another. But we must prepare for anything.
During the Great Depression, my mother in law described neighbors lining up at her door for bread and soup. Her dad was the pastor in a small town in Iowa. They shared what little they had.
Back in NY, her (future) brother-in-law’s family moved into the chicken coop when they lost their home. Times were hard, but they all got through it with their souls intact.
I’d like to think we would do the same for each other. Surely, God favors those who lean on Him for support, help thy neighbor, etc.

In New York where you are, the soil is extremely fertile. There used to be small farms here and there that grew the best tasting vegetables and fruits in season.
The old timers hide their money under the mattresses because they remember when the bank crooks stole what they had deposited back during the depression. This happened to my veteran family members back during the ‘depression’. That is how that expression/knowledge came from.
I understand the impulse to hoard cash @Colkitto, as paper statements won’t cut it when the banks shut down. I just think these globalists, who are deliberately orchestrating the crash, have been keeping one step ahead.
In any case, I would hide the ‘cash’ in a safer place. Maybe bury it in a waterproof container. And carry a big stick, just in case. If desperate people know you have it, it’s already gone.
My husband was intrigued by the crypto currency craze. But to me, the very idea epitomizes the folly of holding ‘virtual’ assets in any form.
If I can’t touch it, barter it, burn it for fuel or live inside of it, it holds little value to me during an economic upheaval.

Gold is a STORE of value…..in the over 5000 years of known existence as a valued asset never been worth 0. When things go south and dollar is worth whatever they say in relation to their digital there will be people who are still holding on to investments in hard assets. At some point you will be able to sell your gold in order to purchase digital or hard assets as a trade. Makes one wonder why China, Russia and other countries are hoarding gold and at the same time big banks are controlling the price. Many people invest in paintings, jewelry, collectibles. I would only invest maybe 10 to20% of savings if you are lucky enough to have the extra savings. At this point everything is a crap shoot and must seek out advice backed by facts…history. Also I would invest in food storage long term, seeds and bartering items that will be in high demand and maybe hard to get….example alcohol…LOL I imagine it will be in high demand. Just my limited knowledge personally I have started to put back food I find the whole thing overwhelming at my age and find it hard to have the get up and go to do all the rest. It is quite depressing which makes it hard as well.

Years ago, a client gave me as a present a 1 ounce piece of silver- its small and would be easy to carry or barter with. I still have it and went to a big legitimate gold/silver dealer two months ago to buy more.
They informed me that they had none left and can’t keep them in. At the time they were going for $26. They did have gold ones but they were $1800 or thereabouts-too rich to buy a number of them.
Clearly, you don’t remember when real silver dollars were traded. In 1963, I gave my parents a center piece for their 25th wedding anniversary made up of 25 silver dollars and flowers. Wish I still had those silver dollars now.
Apparently my grandparents had a ‘root cellar’ where they stored canned goods and smoked meats and other necessities and knew where in the walls were false spaces that valuables were kept.
Loose lips sink ships, as you suggested. Most random thieves go for the obvious stuff and want to get in and get out fast, particularly in areas where citizens are armed and killing thieves is common. Inside jobs, OTOH, different animal. Friend of a friend of the family type stuff. Those are more insidious.
When the cops left a love note at one of my properties that was burglarized about a month ago, I didn’t contact them. Why? No way they go after thieves and no way they’d get my stuff back so no sense in giving anyone any information, at all. Everyone, even police, are suspect until they’re not. Everyone. Remember, anyone can be a Communist or a collaborator. Anyone.
Sad that it’s come to this. Best to accept reality though.
Ty for your post Dunes. I was thinking of a story of a man who told a friend that he had purchased gold and silver. The friend told someone else, who told someone else who happened to be a criminal that the man had a huge pile of gold & silver (the amount increased with each telling). The criminal home invaded looking for this pile of money and when he found it was not nearly as much as the inflated amount he was told pistol whipped him to death for him to reveal where all this money really was.
Never tell anyone if you buy, only the people that need to know.

Sad story and one people, particularly the elderly, should pay attention to. Peaceful, God-fearing, law abiding citizens often have a difficult time imagining the mindset and psychology of criminals. It’s one very different from theirs.
I learned a lot from my grandparents escaping the Reds with their lives and their challenges during the Depression. My mother was a great historian and kept journals and pictures and other family stuff that told their stories. Harsh life. Many lessons learned. I’m grateful.
TBH, coming home and seeing the results, I simply barricaded the busted door, cleaned up the mess, noted the love note from the Sheriff, and went on living. I’m still finding stuff missing weeks later. It’s just stuff. Most of it was already moved to where I retired to.
One lesson I learned a long time ago was to have a ‘bolt bag’ with vital documents and survival essentials. That goes with me wherever I go. Never know when adverse action will begin or an emergency might happen. The Reds came in the middle of the night over a century ago. Farmers who weren’t prepared in some cases paid with their lives. Others escaped. Escape brought my existence. God be with us.

One thing to keep in mind regarding the not replying to the police after an incident is that there will be no recognizable documentation to use for filing any insurance claims. Of course, I guess it’s possible that some things are none of the insurance company’s business, but, if paying for a product might as well use it.
Take pictures of everything you own, and save your purchase receipts. Store them inside a safe deposit box or else in a fireproof wall safe.
I still say – Tell No One, and Trust No One. Not even family if not living with you – even then just keep quiet.
Cashing out assets means you lose your “basis” from which gains are calculated. That can be a good thing, or a bad thing.

Yes, assets that can easily be bartered in small increments. My choice was based on decades of having a business in industry, so raw materials and parts dominate. Stuff that made agriculture and related industries go when I was in business no can be bartered for stuff I need.
Also, IMO a good investment would be to learn practical skills; skills useful in everyday life and in survival situations. One’s skills can be bartered as well as literal fiat currency. Become a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. Doing so not only benefits oneself; it can also benefit those like minded fellow citizens one chooses to commune with.
Instead of stocks, bonds real estate…investment in Ammo over the last 10 years would have beaten all of these…
YMMV, IME the stuff I stock sells for about the same in crate quantities now as it did a decade ago. There was a blip during parts of Obama and during Covid but overall a very stable commodity over time, perhaps depreciating a bit lately in terms of fiat dollars.
More importantly, IMO it’s wise to stock what most people use if intending to barter, even if one doesn’t use it oneself. However, IMO it’s smart to use a common round since what fires it can continue to operate off captured stores from killed enemies. I say that as someone who enjoys esoteric stuff that is decidedly not that.

Taking care of yourself and family is about being as self-sufficient as possible. In a complete meltdown of the financial system, I believe a bartering system will be a necessity.
I have never understood the obsession with gold. How could you buy anything with such a valuable metal? How could the average person determine it is authentic? How could you receive “change” for a purchase in gold?
A sample round of ammunition can be test-fired in your firearm to determine it does the job. You pick one at random out of a box, shoot it and then you can assume the other cartridges are functional. You can trade food for ammunition you can test fire.

There IS a purpose/use for Gold, but its NOT to get you THRU hard times; its to CARRY your accumulated wealth thru hard times, and to the other side, and yes its useless for GETTING YOU THRU the hard times.
And I have been saying for some time, ammunition IS the logical alternative currency, if everything goes to crap.

Properly stored, an indefinite shelf life.
It comes in different denominations, and is easily divisible.
Unlike most currencies, it has intrinisic value.
And, very important as a currency, there is a LOT of it available, or “in circulation.
I think it is SO ‘appropriate’ as a currency, that people will ‘naturally’ resort to this, when the time comes, and it will develop right along with the “black market” that will ‘spring up’ when the time comes.
So yes, put SOME of your investments in ammo, even in calibers you don’t own a gun in, stick to common calibers.
You can ALWAYS resell it, for what you paid for it (actually, ammo is a good hedge against inflation!)

Another nowadays seldom mentioned barter item – cigarettes. I’m still amazed at how much of the population still smokes, even if in secret.
I’ve been watching military ration videos lately and apparently cigarettes were included in the rations at least through the 1960’s and the guys testing the food and drink have been pretty amazed at how well the cigarettes kept for decades. Light weight, easy to store safely, whether pre-made or the raw materials.
With Black Rock funding operations in Ukraine, ostensibly ‘rebuilding’, we can presume, in general, the global banking industry is working against our interests. Why should we fund those operations with our hard earned sweat. I made the decision to exit that milieu a decade ago. Does it matter? One person, not at all. Millions, yeah it matters. Numbers matter in anything, including war.
I use to smoke ….cigarettes that is….tried the other stuff when I was young didn’t like the feeling…LOL. Have to admit cigarettes are mighty tempting these days.
Back in the late ’70s, Howard Ruff said that two things that will be in high demand when the SHTF, would be alcohol and cigarettes, and suggested having a supply of both. For those who just have to have them, they would command extreme value in a bartering situation.
Ruff has a couple of books about preparing for hard times that might be worth going back and reading.
Self-sufficiency, which includes self-protection, is obviously the best foundation. Getting out of debt and owning useful assets that you control is another. Something as simple as a drip irrigation system, chainsaw, fuel etc. you can use are real assets. Even useful skills and practical knowledge that takes time to learn are assets.
When it comes to barter, the very act of dealing with people that don’t have something important to their survival is dangerous in the extreme. Most times they have nothing to offer because they failed to plan.
If the US economic system/supply chain becomes seriously compromised for a time, it would be far far safer to become invisible and look just as desperate as everyone else around you. It’s much safer to buy and store what you would ‘plan’ to barter for ‘now’ than to wait until you need it but plan to use barter to get it. In addition, it may not be available at all at any price in your local area. Plus think about how many desperate people you may need to interact with to perhaps find someone with an excess of what you need.
If it’s not stock just plan to do without.
Once you have all the above covered though some people still have excess purchasing power left inside the system and thus under its rules. That is where gold and commodity money like silver comes in. Not for barter mind you, as it’s a rare person that produces an ‘excess’ of anything they consume, absent a functional economy. Even farmers depended upon a wide variety of other critical must-have inputs that a functioning economy produces in order to grow food.
The purpose of gold and silver is to transfer your ‘excess’ wealth into the ‘next’ economic system.
Think of the net producers in this next economic system that just had a good deal of their stored wealth vaporized.
How excited will they be to store their excess liquid wealth inside a new system that still operates like the one before; namely paper and electronic IOUs?
They will be the ones you will sell your gold and silver to via coin shops (safer BTW) and the like for the new currency they are generating. A new currency that will work just fine for day-to-day expenses and can be used to purchase hard income-producing assets.
Buy gram gold. You can buy it in 100 gram prestressed sheets, so you can break off as many grams as you need.
Right now, 1 gram of gold = about $64 US, if bought in 100 gram sheets:

Social distancing is different than lockdown. Social distancing allows people to go out, but when in stores and other places they need to maintain a certain distance from each other. Remember the markers in the stores? One-way aisles and spacing indicators at the checkouts? That’s an example of social distancing. So is a restaurant with tables pushed farther apart. It’s based on the probabilities of being infected by someone else at different distances from them.

This means that the efficacy does not just wane it goes negative so that the infection, hospitalisation and mortality rates are higher than for the unvaccinated.

There are simple possible reasons why vaccinated people are now experiencing increased numbers of infections, hospitalizations, and deaths. One reason might be that their immunity wore off, and because many of them thought (because they were told) they could behave normally and didn’t need to practice social distancing or masking they are not taking care to avoid infection.
Another reason might be due to boosters, I read some compelling evidence on Jeff Childers’ Coffee & COVID blog that boosters are causing the immune system to respond in a way that is counterproductive to fighting off COVID. Based on all that I have read about that I think the boosters are given too soon.
We also know the virus continues to mutate, thus reducing immunity from the vaccine. It happens with infection-caused immunity too.

How do you response to someone who misused the information in VAERS
As I explained yesterday, the reason I looked at the VAERS records was because other people were claiming that just because there are 400k reports (or whatever the number is) that must mean the vaccine is harmful. They are assuming that all of the reports in VAERS are compelling. I included 3 in my comment that are clearly not compelling, and I mentioned that many of the records don’t even have any useful medical data in them (some have no medical data at all except vaccination date and date of death).
Did you even bother to look at the VAERS reports? You should. They’re very interesting.
She is searching for some hope….I believe she had the vaccine. Praying that she is one of the lucky ones and she did not get the follow up shots. Should have just let sleeping dogs lie.

I’m a science person. I have an excellent education in all of the sciences. I even took a microbiology class, it was one of the best classes I ever took and that’s saying a lot. I dislike being prejudiced when it comes to science topics and I discovered that I had developed a prejudice against the COVID mRNA vaccine. I think a lot of it had to do with mandates and Brandon’s threat in late 2021 to have all unvaccinated workers fired from their jobs. I decided I wanted to learn as much as possible about the virus and the mRNA vaccine, and then decide for myself if it does or doesn’t cause harm. The process requires me to require evidence and reject unsubstantiated claims and flawed logic. I find it disturbing that so many people are bothered by this!

I haven’t taken any of the COVID vaccines, and I’ve had COVID twice now.
As I said in prior comments, it’s easy to say no to the COVID virus. By the time it was available I’d already had COVID and it was mild for me. So I decided I’d rather stick with the known (infection) rather than the unknown (vaccine). But I also acknowledge that some people had much more severe symptoms, including death, and the high-risk groups were being defined. So I felt like it should be an individual decision, each person could determine their own risk-benefit balance and decide whether or not to take the vaccine. I did not interfere with anyone else’s decision, did not discourage, and for those who thought they should take it I supported their decision even if I thought it wasn’t entirely well-founded. None of the people I know who have been vaccinated have been harmed by the vaccine.
If you remember, in the early days of the pandemic COVID looked like a much deadlier disease than it ended up being. As I’ve said before, it’s easy to say ‘no’ to a vaccine if the vast majority of people have mild/minimal/no symptoms. But what happens if the next pandemic is deadlier? Instead of a fractional death rate, what if it’s 10%? Or 20%? I’m quite sure I would take the vaccine as quickly as I could. And now that I’ve done quite a bit of reading about mRNA vaccines (it’s all very fascinating and impressive!) at the moment I would be opposed to taking an mRNA vaccine to combat a deadly virus. It’s possible as I do more reading that I’ll return to being anti-mRNA vaccine, but at least then it will be a legitimate position based on facts and logic and not emotion and false claims.
Near the bottom of the last paragraph I meant to write: at the moment I would NOT be opposed to taking an mRNA vaccine to combat a deadly virus.

I actually do understand that the mRNA vaccines are specific to the spike proteins, and I wrote about it on a prior day (I think 2 days ago).
The COVID mRNA vaccine development was fast-tracked. I’m quite sure that’s why the researchers chose a single feature of the COVID virus. The spike proteins were apparently the best choice, the virus is covered with them and apparently they provoke a sufficient immune response.
You wouldn’t want the vaccine to create the entire virus otherwise that would be causing infection, right? 🙂
The vaccine is effective but it’s effects don’t last as long as hoped. Is it because the vaccine caused only spike proteins to be created? Is it because there is insufficient mRNA in the vaccine dose? Is it because of the injection site (arm muscle)? Does anyone know yet?

I had already done some reading about the lipid shells as well as the extra stuff tacked on to the spike protein mRNA. The COVID vaccine is injected intramuscularly. Did you verify that the number of lipid shells injected into the mice in the study was proportionately the same as the number that is injected into humans? Did you verify that the mice experienced the same symptoms that humans are reporting? Get back to me on this …
And are you aware that lipid shells aren’t new? They’ve been used in medications for years.
Regarding ADE … you didn’t provide any evidence that the mRNA COVID vaccine causes it.
Regarding the spike proteins being “toxic” … the same spike proteins that the mRNA vaccine causes to be created are on the virus itself. And you’re going to have a heck of a lot more of them with an infection, right at the time of infection too. At the time of infection you will have entire viral particles covered with spike proteins which will then hijack your cells to multiple rapidly. Contrast this with the vaccine, you are not injected with spike proteins, they are created after the vaccine starts to do its work (by a similar method to how the virus replicates). It’s a relatively very small number, enough to trigger the immune response. Are some people getting sick from the small number of spike proteins caused by the vaccine? If so, they would be far more sick if they were infected with the virus.

I’m a flooring installer who works in SW NY, NW PA and NE OH. I sub contracted to the largest flooring installers in Erie, Pro-Source, for a few years and they decided to get cheap and not provide a dumpster for job refuse, especially old carpet, pad and vinyl flooring that we ripped out.
The only place around to legally dispose of construction waste in the 2000’s was the Lake View Landfill. For at least some of those years you were charged $27.00 for a pickup or van load up to a certain weight. I never approached that weight so it was always $27.00.
The problem was, Pro-Source only paid about $1.25/sq yd for ripping out carpet and pad and that included disposal. So if you installed a 12 ft x 16 ft bedroom and it took you an hour or two to rip it out, tape it up, remove all the staples, sweep up, load the old carpet and then drive to the landfill and unload it and drive home … you made $00.00 for that labor.
Every other store I worked for provided a dumpster where you could dispose of the trash and the store charged the customer directly for disposal and they paid you the same labor rate for rip ups. I was the ONLY installer that disposed of the trash at the landfill. Every single installer at Pro-Source burned all their old carpet, pad and vinyl plus the new materials scrap at night!
At night, no one can see the smoke and burning flooring produces thick, black oily smoke.
A good friend works security for large concert events.
It’s amazing how some of the celebrities and Divas demand freshly laid carpet in their dressing rooms and back stage for their one or two night performances. The carpet then has to be replaced -again -overnight for some other Diva coming in the next day.

When I get a pizza sitting on paper in a pizza box sometimes there is no food residue on the cardboard. I then throw the paper out, unfold the box and refold it so the print is hidden and stick it in with other recycled cardboard where it now belongs. Might be illegal? Might be morally wrong? Here’s a hint. The 10th Amendment restricts the federal government. It doesn’t empower the states to take away our freedoms because there is a cold virus going around.
“The 10th” was simply to affirm that the Constitution did not create a “supreme” level of Government that was “above” the States. Quite the opposite. The name of this country was intentionally devised to be: “The United States.” Which in many ways makes a “state governor” and “state legislature” more powerful than anyone in Washington, DC. Or so it was supposed to be.

Success in an acting career has very little to do with an actor’s beliefs, compared to their ability to do the job.
Also, like most jobs, one’s reputation. A person can be a real talent but if they’re a ‘problem’ or ‘not of the body’, they can be ostracized/isolated/shunned/fired.
We saw that in action during Covid across many industries.
I came in touch with Hollywood as a citizen during the studio era where movie moguls made people ‘stars’. Talent was nice but not always necessary. Playing the game was vital. If one mogul came to dislike one for whatever reason or no reason at all, it was easy to get blacklisted, and many did.
Fame and fortune are interesting things. Can’t remember who shared the wisdom with me but many decades ago an older man told me ‘son, be careful how you treat people on the way up because you will certainly meet them once again on the way down‘. Nothing in life is certain save for death, fame and fortune included. Those it has blessed are indeed fortunate.

Meanwhile – tens of thousands of people bought a night in that hotel, and were treated like kings.
Hundreds of thousands of people are employed with health benefits, stocks and retirement funds for building, and running businesses. They also have sense of pride of employment, creation, ability to support their families, and potential to grow.
But the corporate realities faced by the corporations who employ them are very much represented by these “obscure” features of the tax codes. The Trump® Companies buy and sell real-estate properties, employing thousands of people to run them, but also sometimes pump money into them for sixteen years.
Quite a number of the properties that the Trump® Companies bought and turned-around were commercial office properties that their previous owners had given up on. Or, hotels. The financial/tax perspectives on this sort of high-finance business are therefore extremely important. Without which the “turn-around” would never have happened – likewise the jobs, or the satisfied tenants and overnight guests.
I remember when the convoy was in D.C. and I was shocked at the dearth of American flags flying from buildings until the Trump hotel came into view, festooned with American flags.
A few months later, when the 1776’ers were protesting around D.C., I did a double take as American flags seemed to be everywhere. Same buildings, different month. Bizarre. Of course, there also appeared to be nearly as many Ukraine flags shown. Propaganda at its finest.

I’m happy to see the new COVID testing requirement for people coming here from China doesn’t give a pass to vaccinated people. Just another way the CDC is finally acknowledging that COVID-vaccinated people are getting and spreading the virus. It was a huge mistake to exclude them from prior requirements.
The requirement applies to these air passengers regardless of nationality and vaccination status.
This will also apply to persons traveling from the PRC via third country transit and to passengers connecting through the United States onward to further destinations.
Along with applying this requirement to direct flights from the PRC, passengers transiting Incheon International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport on their way to the United States will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test if they have been in the PRC in the last 10 days no more than 2 days before their departure to the United States. These three transit hubs cover the overwhelming majority of passengers with travel originating in the PRC and the Special Administrative Regions. We will continue to monitor travel patterns, adjust our approach as needed, and keep Americans informed in a timely manner.

The military commissar of Belarus’s southwestern region of Brest, Oleg Konovalov, down-played the incident in a video posted on a social media by a state-run news agency, saying locals had “absolutely nothing to worry about. “Unfortunately, these things happen.”
Konovalov compared the incident to one in November, when an S-300, believed to have strayed after being fired by Ukrainian air defenses, landed on the territory of NATO-member Poland, triggering fears of an escalation that were rapidly defused.
