A strong testimonial in favor of concealed carry, self-defense and situational awareness.
A mass shooter named Douglas Sapirman opened fire at the Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana, shooting three people before he was stopped by a 22-year-old who reacted in seconds after the shooting started.
22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken (pictured left) told his girlfriend to get under a table at the mall food court, then engaged the gunman using his pistol. Dicken fired ten shots, killing the gunman who was armed with a long rifle as he attempted to retreat. Police are hailing young Mr. Dicken as a hero who likely saved the lives of many.
INDIANA – […] Elisjsha Dicken, an armed bystander, fired on Sapirman. Dicken fired 10 rounds hitting Sapirman as Sapirman tried to retreat into the bathroom but collapsed and died.
Dicken had no police training or military background, according to police. He was carrying under the new “Constitutional Carry” law and did not have a permit. Police said Dicken learned to shoot from his grandfather and that he had no military or police training.
“His actions were nothing short of heroic. He engaged the gunman from quite a distance with a handgun. Was very proficient in that, was tactically sound and as he moved to close in on the suspect, he was also motioning for people to exit behind him,” Ison said about Dicken’s actions. “Many people would have died last night if not for a responsible armed citizen that took action very quickly within the first two minutes of this shooting.”
Dicken has not yet spoken with the media about the shooting. However, his lawyer Guy A. Relford released a statement on Monday that said Dicken is waiting to speak about the shooting to respect the lives lost and the police’s investigation.
The full statement can be read here:
“I am proud to serve as Eli Dicken’s attorney and spokesperson. He is a true American hero who saved countless lives during a horrific event that could have been so much worse if not for Eli’s courage, preparedness and willingness to protect others. Because we want to respect the ongoing criminal investigation by the Greenwood Police Department and take time to honor the three innocent lives lost, we won’t be making any substantive comments on Sunday’s events until after the authorities’ investigation is closed. In the interim, we ask that you respect the privacy of Eli and his family.” (read more)
A brave young man. Well done Mr. Dicken. Well done.
Police Press Conference:
This man did in less that one minute what 75 cops in Texas waited 75 minutes to do.
.
Amazing what you can do when not worried about losing your pension ……… ( hero )
Now , put that mask on ,citizen.. ( cops )
Verrry very clever. Thanks for the laughs.
So what is your solution? Abolish pensions for police and law enforcement? I’m sure knowing there’s nothing to support their family and children after they get killed charging into a classroom full of kids being held hostage by a schizoid with an AR will really encourage them.
A good Samaritan with a gun is worth at least 75 cops! He’s right there, and he knows it is life or death for everyone in that place. God bless this brave young man, Elisjsha Dicken. He needs to train cops in Uvalde!
Those “cops” in Uvalde deserve to be fired. No Pensions either. They should mow the grass at the cemetery they helped to fill.
Yes. With their teeth.
Fired is not enough. They became accessories.
Another great comment
There was almost 400 law enforcement personnel in Uvalde before they finally went after the shooter.
And the border patrol had to send in one of their SRTs while all the cops stood by.
I was motivated to just make a meme to show this point.
the police count in Uvalde is now close to 400…armed officers who did nothing to neutralize a lone teenager murdering children. God will be their ultimate judge.
Bullseye!!
The rabid left will go after him, unless they paid out enough on CNN to Rittenhouse and Sandmann
Don’t forget. There were also feds there.
So, when seconds count, police may be minutes away and might wait for over an hour.
After the Feds got there, they went in and killed the shooter…ex post haste.
The ones who missed their chance were the locals and the idiot of a School Police Chief.
AMEN!!
There was purpose in this. It will come out. They made a fatal mistake in running their false flag in Texas. This was an intentional violation of police procedure. And the cop whose wife was murdered in this? There’s a special place in hell for that guy.
Because he wasn’t on overtime and the Uvalde police were.

Heartache spot on observation!
Great comment. So true!
I’m not sure but I suspect there is a reason the Chief of Police, mayor, and I think maybe the Governor are referring to him as “the Good Samaritan.” This isn’t by accident. If I’m not mistaken most, if not all 50 States have some sort of “Good Samaritan” laws on the books. Every state is different but it basically shields the “good Samaritan” from civil liability.
Well done Mr. Dicken, well done!
The “Good Samaritan” laws I am familiar with, involve rendering first aid, and not being liable,…not applicable in this situation, I DON’T THINK, but could maybe be interpreted that way.
He does apperently benefit from “Constitutional Carry”, which means you don’t NEED a permit, to carry concealed; if your “legal” to own a gun, your “legal” to carry it, however you want, open or concealed.
Thats the way it is in Az, where I live.
Let us hope this story “holds up”, and there ‘investigation’ confirms what we are hearing now.
Thats twice a young man with a gun, and no formal (military or police) has shown exemplary conduct with a firearm, in stories that have had National exposure. (Rittenhouse).
Meaning a ‘good samaritan’ law shields the person rendering aid from liability for rendering ‘negligent’ aid. For example, doing an emergency tracheostomy as they teach in first aid (they still teach that?), and you botch it. Maybe that is a bad example. If you are rendering lawful return fire (lethal force in defense of another whom is at risk of death – clear case here – all 50 states i would assume) but hit an innocent person with your return fire – maybe that does invoke the good samaritan liability shield. Hopefully that is not the case with the kid. The would be hard even on an adult.
I fear for the young man that the crazed Left will come after him. This violates their platform of destroying the 2nd Amendment. Remember the Golden Rule of Lefty: side with the victim and charge the aggressor! I hope that the Eli individual has some sort of a belief in a Supreme Being! Eli would make an excellent Scout! Their motto of “be prepared” was answered! Quite an accomplishment from a young man of 22!
Clearly coming for this guy is not the wisest choice, Pa.
Maybe the injustice department will figure a way to go after him with fake charges or make up a civil rights lawsuit.
The killer was white. That won’t happen.
They would certainly like to. But I don’t think they’d dare.
A good guy with a gun stops a probable FIB plant (mall shooter) in Indiana and the gun control movement is furious at him? Because that messes with their agenda.
We need a whole lot more just like this brave young man!
There ARE a whole lot more like him!
My local mall has signs (enforceable by law) which prohibit guns on their property. I don’t go there.
carry concealed – didn’t happen if no one saw it and if you need it who cares what a sign says
I’m in PA, there are signs like that, but they do not in PA have the force of law.
If they ask you to leave because they see a gun and don’t, you can be charged with trespassing.
That is the situation here in Indiana — it’s only a trespassing charge, if anything. Eli will only be at risk of attempts to sue him in civil court (i.e., “the second gun was scary and now I have PTSD”).
“No Weapons Allowed” signs are not enforced in Georgia.
It will be interesting to see how the media handle this.
The story has important elements that don’t fit the narrative. So I suppose it will be mostly ignored.
It should be front page news in the Times for a week.
It is being completely ignored.
Most likely like they handled Nick Sandmann, either that or completely ignore his heroism.
Sapirman had the two biggest surprises of his pitiful and short earthly life in its final two minutes:
Somebody shot back, and there really is a Heaven.
But he surely arrived on the wrong side of the gulf, where his final judgement will ultimately be rendered.
God bless and protect young Eli Dickens.
Kinda odd with that last name Sapirman. A little close to “sapper” in military field lingo. We had to defend against those kind of attacks in ‘Nam!
Interesting that vivid details are provided regarding all of the weapons that Sapirman had, but no details of what Dicken was carrying.
“An armed society is a polite society.” Robert A. Heinlein
I think the police chief said 9mm
Yep, and he blew the lungs clear out of the scumbags body into the next county.
9 mm Glock. What is amazing is he took the first shot from 40-50 YARDS. This is from GunFreeZone.net
“This is a man who clearly practiced with his firearms and invested the time and money to develop his skills on his own.
It’s gets better, as reported by WRTV Indianapolis.
[Greenwood Police Chief James Ison explained to WRTV, Dicken’s first shot at the gunman was from 40-50 yards away and it appeared the very first shot hit the gunman. Dicken was able to hit the gunman with additional rounds.
Dicken was carrying a 9-MM Glock, according to Ison. He hit the shooter at 40-50 yards with a Glock 9mm.
This young man can out shoot most military and law enforcement in the country.
We need more young men like this in our country. Kudos to his grandfather for training this young man in the use of his weapon. God bless this young man and his family.
I think we will see more incidents of brave young men. Their families with generations of service are NOT advising to join a ‘woke military’ to die for Industrial/Military/WEFglobalists in ‘military interventions’ all over the world. US citizen warriors are needed here in the homeland, where the greatest threat exists from the FBI/DOJ/IRS/NSA/RINO/Dems.
I also suspect parents realize that the left is planning to use the military against us.
Strange how that young man with no military or police training, worked correctly in sending people to cover and “close” on the enemy, no? Maybe a “higher power” guided him?
Or maybe he’s watched a lot of movies.
Or maybe, he did not spend his time before the TV set, but outside learning how to hunt, shoot and survival skills. I know many young boys; also their sisters, who are sharp shooters and can field dress a deer by age 10.
Trained by his gramps. Saved scores of lives.
God’s works are always wonderful to behold.
He is a Call Of Duty player. You would be surprised by how many solid battle tactics you learn in the game. His grandfather taught him how to shoot.
Not directly related but you may be interested in the letter from the Missouri AG to FBI Director Wray telling them to pound sand RE their intent to come visit selected MO County Sheriffs and conduct “an audit” of their CCW permit records. Hopefully AG Schmitt stays where he is serving the people of MO, rather than aspiring to the Blunt senate seat and becoming just another writer of “strongly worded letters.” Here’s a link to his fine letter to the head lackey at FBI:

For what it’s worth – reading this letter made my day 🙂 Thank you!
A wonderful, inspiring letter. I immediately sent a copy to our real republican candidate for Massachusetts Attorney General.
He told the FBI off! Good for him. We need more like him.
Great letter. Thanks for posting.
Great read, thank you. I just have to wonder why the FBI is targeting Missouri?
Missouri recognizes constitutional carry.
Thanks for the letter. It’s a thing of perfection! I saved and sent to my peeps.
That was great !
Seems like recent Supreme Court decision saves lives as a legal citizen carrying a legal weapon stopped a mass killing in a mall.
And he was only 22?
Just a few months ago this would have been a disaster.
It also squashes the argument the Dems have for keeping the number of bullets to a minimum. Ten bullets accomplished the business end of this pervert. As in, it’s all the bullets he had and young Eli used ‘em all.
Sometimes when you need them, heroes come from the most surprising places.
I see there wasn’t enough time to enforce full Uvalde protocol.
its good for him to keep quiet for a while, the long knives are out for him.
this might be a patriot kills a demonrat case…and that would have to be suppressed
his grandfather deserves our thanks…what a legacy.
The looney left is going to try to make him a Kyle Rittenhouse
Hero!! He’s not alone!
“ he had no military or police training.”
No offense meant to the military or the police but this statement has no relevance to what happened.
This young man was raised to do what’s right when it needs to be done.
And no “police or military training” really needed. Just a good smart young man who was raised right. Every young person should be taught firearms proficiency. The Karens not withstanding.
Good point, VERY good point!
Puts a lie to the need for “training” in these situations. We ALWAYS hear, when there is a failure of officials, that more “training” is needed. Bullfeathers – just another “acceptable answer for unacceptable results,” IMAO.
That statement came from the Greenwood police chief’s praise of the tactical soundness of Eli’s entire motion through the situation. He pushed his girlfriend out of the picture, took his first shot with careful aim using a column as support, and advanced directly as the target tried to withdraw. No bobbing in and out, no zig-zag running around tables, just focused on the target and trying to make every shot count. And the Press likes to build a story around civilian defensive wins with such dreck as, “well, THIS time it worked out because it was an off-duty police officer, but civilians shouldn’t be armed…”
I especially appreciated when the Chief, in the second live Press statement, shut down a reporter who kept calling Eli ‘the second shooter’. The Chief corrected him both times, saying, “There was one shooter, and one Good Samaritan.” At that point, I knew the cops weren’t just saying they had Eli’s back. We actually do like our cops here.
‘Revealed’
Someone needs to send the Uvalde police department a link to this story.
One news report states he engaged the shooter at 40 – 50 yards.
If anyone does not understand the significance of this, try that with a 9mm sometime.
Bravo young man!
Well said.
I am skeptical. There isn’t likely to be that much open space in the food court with other people present.
I don’t find that odd. It would mean basically fired across food court and think of what people would have been doing in the two minutes before the hero fired.
They provided an update (with apology) this morning for earlier statements that Eli stopped the shooter withing two minutes. Upon reviewing the video, the Chief clarified that only 15 seconds transpired between the shooter’s first shot, and Eli’s last.
Fifteen very long seconds, I’m sure, for those who were in that food court.
There is video that the police watched to clear him immediately.
So if the Police Chief says 40-50 yards, then I’m OK with that.
Some damned fine shooting no doubt. Especially considering how few people get adequate range time and couldn’t hit a refrigerator box at 50 yards.
A refrigerator box is about all I could hit at that distance.
I heard or read somewhere he used a post to steady his aim.
Eli knew to take a rest, lean against the post for support and steadiness. Cool customer, bet his grandpa hunted squirrels and rabbits with a single shot and a forked stick. You don’t miss when you learn that way.
🎯
Good shootin !
This dudes a bad ass. If your ever in the Rose City Eli the cigars and beer are on me.
Nice shooting young man.
It was just a couple weeks ago that Indiana democrats were warning Indiana would become the wild, wild west when Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed open carry into law.
And once again, democrats were wrong.
Actually I saw what seemed to be a very systematic look at the Wild Wild West a while back. It wasn’t as bloody as Chicago or other major US cities today.
The way it should be. …protecting ourselves 👏👏👏👏
Maybe he will be charged for obstructing an FBI operation. This is not the type of inspiring anti-narrative they can tolerate.
There is an aspect of this story that reveals a fundamental truth of these murdering cowards.
The shooter tried to flee to safety once someone shot back.
He was in a place with many exits/entrances and many potential victims. Everywhere he turned there were victims to shoot. All were fleeing. But once Guns arrive, he could be shot from any direction.
And he tried to make it to a place where he could limit and control entry.
Well that and terrorize and kill any victims he found hiding within.
It could be that he was thinking like that. But I think it more likely that he was just running like the coward he was.
Compare this 22 year old and what he did compared to Uvalde.
Speaks volumes IMO.
There is an aspect of this case that the left will seize on to attack the hero.
The murderer was attempting to flee when he was taken down.
We need to be prepared to defend against charges of shooting him in the back.
Was the murderer still armed?
Even if he dropped a gun, how do you know that he doesn’t have another, or is trying to reach his stash of guns?
As long as he is trying to kill people, anywhere he flees to will just have more victims.
Also, the hero fired 10 shots. He will be attacked for overkill. And they will be on the hunt for anybody they can claim was killed, wounded, or even just afraid of the hero.
They will do Anything to stop this from happening again.
Supposedly, he had another gun stashed in the bathroom, and more ammo. He was trying to get back to his stash, or just panicked.
Legally, Eli had ‘permission’ to continue firing until HE (himself, not someone else) determined that the active threat had ceased. Tactically, even pulling the rifle out of the shooter’s hands would not be enough, because you don’t know how many other weapons (grenades, dead man switch, etc.) are present. The Left will always bend public perception — but they have to do it carefully in situations where there are multiple law enforcement agencies and lots of timecoded video to be trotted out into a court room. Press will make a lot of noise at the beginning; but will only stick with the stories that will not let the public peek at their character.
Now, the radical activists that only #IdentifyAs press… that’s a whole other thing…
This young man kills an active shooter who is attempting to kill multiple people, and HE feels the need to employ a lawyer?! That right there is some of what’s wrong with our country.
Him getting a lawyer is a very smart move. It gives him breathing space, isolates him from the media and good advice.
If as someone else said he’s the best 2A lawyer in the State, a really good move.
If you conceal carry, you should know what lawyer you would call in a situation like this.
Yes and there are several organizations that market a subscription package to assist with financing any legal battles that follow a self defense incident. If you carry often, it’s prudent and not very expensive. Otherwise you’ll be relying on a crowdfunding effort just to keep your chin above water financially.
USCOncealedCaarry.org is a good resource.
Cell phone in the toilet and laptop in the lit oven. Interesting. Sounds like he did not plan on returning. Thank God and Eli that he did not.
Thank You Eli !!!!!!
And we’ll trained!
I can only imagine how proud his grand-father feels today! Our grand-kids are our highest priority in later years.
I don’t watch MSM at all. How much attention is THIS one getting there?
I have no idea. Thank you for bringing up the idea, I’ll have to go watch some msm source. Does anybody remember the name of any of them?
Hopefully the woke left won’t Rittenhouse this kid too.
This terrible episode is one of the reasons that I support all citizens being trained in firearm use as part of our education and it being legal for all of us to carry a weapon.
If everyone at the movies is armed a “lone gunman” will think twice before going in there to shoot everybody, thinking we will all be cowering under our seats, hoping against hope.
Soft targets invite malevolence by those of soft character.
Nothing will prevent us from ever being a target; but we can all make the bad guy struggle for it.
Important to note that the mall was a GUN FREE ZONE!!! Meaning, once again, the perfect soft target for a mass shooter. Eli was NOT supposed to carry his gun into the mall, but had he not, who knows what the death toll would be – likely including him and his girlfriend. He has now retained the best 2A laywer in the state (smart move.) Notice how the national media is IGNORING this case???
“Today the heroic good Samaritan of the Greenwood mall shooting, Elisjsha Dicken, retained the Law Office of Guy Relford. In response to multiple media inquiries, we are releasing the following statement:
I am proud to serve as Eli Dickens’ attorney and spokesperson. He is a true American hero who saved countless lives during a horrific event that could have been so much worse if not for Eli’s courage, preparedness and willingness to protect others. Because we want to respect the on-going criminal investigation by the Greenwood Police Department and take time to honor the three innocent lives lost, we won’t be making any substantive comments on Sunday’s events until after the authorities’ investigation is closed. In the interim, we ask that you respect the privacy of Eli and his family.
Guy A. Relford
The Law Office of Guy A. Relford”
If Relford is the best 2A attorney in the State, either Eli knew that before hand or he got the heads up very quickly. Anyone who carries concealed should know what lawyer they would call in a situation like this… and it’s really likely not the guy who did your will.
Having a lawyer after this is the smartest move possible. It isolates him from the press and makes sure he is protected.
We really like Guy Relford; he has a regular radio show that is very informative (‘The Gun Guy’), and I’ve attended classes at local ranges where he covers the things about the Law that everyone who carries should be aware of BEFORE strapping one on. He’s the person getting someone their firearms back when someone abused the red flag laws to confiscate from someone who did nothing wrong. He’s regularly in the faces of Indiana lawmakers to make sure they are acting on correct information rather than the crap the #Left spews.
There is a lot of conversation about the term ‘gun free zone’ — this was not one. In Indiana, a school property, a government facility, and Post Office parking lots are all ‘gun free zones’. Any signage posted by businesses outside of those classifications are simply outlining the rules for which they are inviting visitors to leave … and if someone is called out for carrying at this mall, they can leave and no charge is involved; if they do not leave the person can be charged — at most — with trespassing.
This misunderstanding is not trivial, however. Seeing the signs that prohibit weapons (at this mall, just the word ‘weapons’ is used; so presumably my Leatherman could get me in the same trouble) might make a potential shooter BELIEVE that the mall is a soft target full of people who will not fight back … which is exactly the perception that we need to eradicate. If every thug looks at every potential victim and considers, “If that little granny has a Desert Eagle, maybe I shouldn’t try to jack her car…” — well, we’d be in a better place than we are now.
When I first started considering getting my lifetime carry permit in Indiana (2003), I did a lot of reading. Back then, one in fifteen adults in this state had a carry permit (I’m told that twice as many do now). That doesn’t cover everyone who has been carrying all this time… and true, many people have a permit but don’t carry every day… but the point is, it’s more likely in Indiana to encounter a plain old civilian who is armed than it was when I lived in Texas.
It’s normal to see them carried openly in Walmart, the laundromat, at church, and at sporting events where there aren’t restrictions imposed by the venue. And most people here carry concealed, so it’s actually difficult for the Bad Guy to know what kind of gamble he is about to take on.
Maybe this has already been answered, but wondering where this perp got the money for the Sig rifle and the Glock, with only warehouse worker pay? He couldn’t pay rent but had a few grand for guns and ammo?
I think the only reason he couldn’t pay rent was because he quit his warehouse job — so I am interested to know what the story was there. But then, if he was mad or otherwise upset about something that happened at work… there was something about his life that stunted his ability to be emotionally stable and take responsibility for both his actions, and the shit that happens to us all in an unfair world.
Photos of the mall, including the food court where this happened.
Thank you.
Right to carry saves lives
You should look up the story about what happened at a QuikTrip in St. Charles Missouri early Saturday morning (7/16/22). Absolute hero!!! Same scenario. The trash had better start thinking twice about pulling their crap in areas where 1 out of every 2 people are likely carrying and have ZERO qualms about using….
The police reported he used a Glock 9mm. My guess is he was carrying the G19 a compact 9mm with a standard mag capacity of 15 but can carry more depending on the magazine. If he shot 10 times he still had 5/6 rounds left. It wasn’t reported how many rounds hit the gunman but it only takes one with proper shot placement. The msm will vilify him for carrying in violation of a stupid Mall policy!!! He will need our prayers no one who carries a gun wants to be put in that situation!! Godspeed Eli Dicken!!
j.b. pritzker: “And 100% of mass public shootings happen with guns.” and this is thought by the dems to be the kind of insight that will carry them to victory.
can’t find a comment by the large and in charge of illinois born filthy rich founding supporter of the gates foundation about dicken’s quick work and probably won’t as it is the eloquent riposte to his inanity above.
Le Reza has infected the police in Texas.
This story, at least as far as the main stream media is concerned, is the best-kept secret on mass shootings.
The Mockingbird Media is awaiting their narrative from on high before they all repeat the same, in unison and for the proper duration of their predetermined news cycle…
I couldn’t really listen to the presser. Could only tolerate so much info about the loser, now dead, perp.
Excellent job by young Mr. Dicken and kudos to his Grandfather for his training.
A side-by-side profile of these two, the dead perp and the hero shows exactly what is wrong with society. Family who raises conscientious citizens versus absent or uncaring brood makers.
As the left has a collective bout of apoplexy because this occurrence doesn’t support their kooky gluteal narrative
