My wife and I just transferred some money to a major mf co. we opened a money market act. The ” planner started a conversation about the 3 buckets and how we should proceed by investing in Stocks and bonds to build wealth. My wife said we worked for 40 years to build wealth, punched a clock and saved money. We are only interested in safety as we no longer earn. He seemed surprised. I told him I can not make money back if I lose it. Again he seemed surprised. we opened the mm. act. and left. I wonder how many folks want to invest in this market when they are retired like us?

My thought is that when we retire we are more concerned with the security of what we have saved.
Family member who is retired and his wife is retired called yesterday and during conversation told me he had just found out that he has lost 92k and his wife lost 90k in their retirement account. A 182k loss is a lot of money to lose.
They have a financial planner.
I have not discussed politics or finance with him. Just me telling him the evening news was fake was a heated discussion. So politics and finance were never discussed after that.
Total turnaround in attitude yesterday! He was telling me how news is fake how much he despises Biden….blah…blah…blah.
Until the reality of what is going on hits some people in the face…. then they wake up.
My thought is that financial planners are when you give your money to someone else to “play” with.
I tried telling him about food insecurity possibility and once again he was not receptive….he told me there is no food shortage…..blah blah blah.
I tried. So guess we won’t be talking politics or finance for awhile.
All but a small portion of our money is in places that cannot lose money although it doesn’t earn much. I warned my adviser this was going to happen because a I believed the market was supported only by thin air. He thought I was nuts.
Planners get paid when you purchase and paid when you sell
It depends how they are paid. Mine has my best interest in mind because it is how he gets paid. I certainly don’t have time to do what he specializes in. He looks at the whole picture from income to taxes and adjusts accordingly.
Yep. My late Dad had us trading our own stocks from the age 16 on to learn how to manage money. Wise man.
In the late 70’s and early 1980’s my husband worked as a clerk for a Specialist firm on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. This was before “computer” block trading was possible and the specialist and his clerk put the buy and sell sides together as they came in from the brokers. It was hustle and bustle and amazing pressure , all on paper slips, copied into the book.,but these guys were hands on with the orders and really had a feel for the way a stock was moving. Exciting!
That said, there is a great investment book, which reads like a story (actually it is fictionalized)but gives those interested in the markets plenty of good advise about trading, analysis and the human psychology of it all.

The story goes that a village in Germany, Hamelin. The city was suffering through a rat infestation when a mysterious man in Pied (colorful) clothing showed up and told the mayor he’d rid the village of their rats for a 1000 Guilders. He led the rats out of the village with his magic flute and into the river. He came back for his payment to which the mayor declined. The mysterious piper fired up his magic flute and thus time lured the children from the city never to be seen again.
Like most fairytales they are not sugar and spice but were used to teach a lesson to the young. They didn’t have TV’s but sent messages through stories, fables, fairytales, iconography et al. So for fun, let’s whip this fairy tale on where we find ourselves.
President Trump is the Pied Piper in the story. He came to the Shinning City on the Hill promising to rid the city of its (swamp) rat infestation, and the people elected him. And sure as shootin’ he started to do just that, the swamp rats population was going down, to which he resoundingly won a second term to finish the job. But the swamp loves their swamp rats and instead of allowing President Trump to finish his work, decided to steal the election or in keeping with the fable, denied payment.
Now comes the fun part. Being denied his payment his landslide victory and the people still wanting to rid the nation’s capital of its (swamp) rat infestation. Angered by this President Trump and his Deplorable army are going to come back and will lead the children (remaining swamp rats) away to never be seen again.
If we find our commonality, this is what will happen. Fracture and divide aka “Divide & Conquer”, the swamp will pick us off one by one. The really fun part, one way or another, we’ll get to pay for it, whether they get us in a stupid war (Ukraine) starve us, poison us, racial strife, or deplete your resources, retirement funds, they men to kill us off.
Hang tough, stay alert; be prepared as this is going to get bad. I believe the Piper will extract his payment in time.

The magnitude of this crime dwarfs every scandal in history. The potential death toll will make Hitler look pathetic. If this could be pinned on conservatives, the media and Hollywood would be able to drive the public into uncontrolled outrage and mass demonstrations based simply on the evidence and by talking to victims. I was of the impression that they don’t deny that a preborn baby is human life but that it does not receive its soul until the first breath is drawn, and that therefore, it is not a person but a form of human property, and therefore can be killed for, e.g. self-defense (mother’s well-being).
The abortion question does not turn on whether or when a fetus becomes a human life.
In other words, okay, the fetus is human life, but what is the reason we cannot kill this human life. We kill all kinds of human beings for various reasons, and those are not restricted to criminal punishment (e.g. separating conjoined twins, e.g. innocents who are soldiers, e.g. the philosophical issue of do you swerve the brakeless trolley car into one person in order to avoid hitting a crowd of ten). Etc.
The question is at what point and why — i.e., based on what rationale (which cannot be religious belief) — does it become a wrong to kill a fetus.
There are many ways to answer the latter question.
Having worked on legislation on this issue (I gave up after Casey) in the late 80s, and being screamed at by people with different religious beliefs, I think the best way to start is by asking: at what point can the fetus feel pain. This argument works against the progressives, especially because so many are vested in animal rights.
But it does not suffice, no matter how certain one’s conviction, to declare that the fetus has rights from the moment of conception simply because it’s “human life” (or “unique human life”), when what actually is meant is that at the moment God imbues the new cell with a soul.
Okay I happen to believe that, but I also understand that this is religious dogma that I have chosen to believe, not a scientific fact that I can prove.

The Secretariat of the Navy said joint work between the Naval Unit of Port Protection No.63 and the Tenth Naval Zone and Customs at the port uncovered the illicit drug in a 40ft shipping container. Preliminary reports show the container wasn’t entirely filled with fentanyl.
Navy and port officials completed a random search of the unnamed vessel, and when they carried out specialized Customs laboratory testing of some of “Calcium Chloride,” it turned out to be fentanyl.
Within one container, there were 931 sacks of fentanyl, totaled a gross weight of 23,368 kilograms (51,517 pounds). The container ship came from Shanghai, on China’s central coast, and was eventually going to drop off the cargo in Culiacán, the capital of the state of Sinaloa.
It’s starting to become increasingly clear how the global supply chain of fentanyl starts with manufacturers in China, then shipped on container vessels to Mexico. The next step would be using Mexican cartels for the so-called “last mile” delivery to the US.

Every doctor should know that. Apparently, many doctors and patients take the easy way out as a matter of convenience.
I can understand lay people being frightened and coerced into taking injections to save their lives. What I can’t understand is people who know better, but take the path of least resistance as a matter of convenience.
Too bad more people didn’t stand together and fight for EACH OTHER like the pilots did.
