You may not have your constitutional rights abridged without due process.
A police officer who shoots or disarms you in a public confrontation with cause is not “necessarily” violating your rights, but it will be adjudicated thereafter anyway. In that instance, his cause enables him to engage you. He has to substantiate that cause later on.
Red Flag law is an end run around all of that at the other end of the hypothetical–the case in which you are ensconced in your home reading a book and there is no obvious or implied cause for anyone to do anything toward you. It simply allows an allegation to be threshold enough to act without due process. THAT is a violation of constitutionally assured rights.
Bottom line: if SWAT is needed, then there’s no time for a judge. If SWAT is NOT called, then there is time for a judge.
If SWAT is not needed, then Roger Stone is rousted out of bed before 6am by FBI agents breaking down his door while heavily armed, flying helicopters overhead, sending in boats and divers, while alerting CNN to be there to record it all. One of these gems of a doctor in the VA once stopped an exam of my hubby mid-exam, took a phone call (right in the room in front of him) and said, “We’re done here. I’m late for my date.” And off the doctor went, leaving hubby on the exam table all by his lonesome. At which point we started taking advantage of the ability to see a civilian primary care doctor and he’s had great care ever since. Think we’ll go back? Nope.
That’s shameful. Our veterans deserve the best care.

-Kevin D. Greeson died of a heart attack, collapsing on the sidewalk west of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
-Rosanne Boyland appeared to have been crushed in a stampede of fellow rioters as they surged against the police.
-Benjamin Philips, the founder of a pro-Trump website called Trumparoo, died of a stroke.
Mr. Greeson and Mr. Philips died of natural causes, the Washington medical examiner said in April. He added that Ms. Boyland’s death was caused by an accidental overdose.
In the days and weeks after the riot, five police officers who had served at the Capitol on Jan. 6 died.
-Officer Brian D. Sicknick of the Capitol Police, who was attacked by the mob, died on Jan. 7.
-Officer Jeffrey Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department killed himself after the attack.
-Officer Howard S. Liebengood of the Capitol Police also died by suicide four days afterward.
The Capitol Police had previously said that Officer Sicknick died from injuries sustained “while physically engaging with protesters.” The Washington medical examiner later ruled that he had died of natural causes: multiple strokes that occurred hours after Officer Sicknick’s confrontation with the mob. The medical examiner added, however, that “all that transpired played a role in his condition.”

The police agencies have not classified the four total suicides as “line of duty” deaths that would provide the victims’ families with enhanced benefits. Washington law excludes suicide deaths from the line-of-duty designation.

In its final report, the House select committee investigating Jan. 6 could mention an official death toll from the violence.

Dallas Independent School District will be approving a new pay raise for teachers. Starting salary is now $60,000 per year. That’s for 8 months of work. Annualized it is the equivalent of $80,000.
Jaw dropping. It’s almost what I make as an attorney.
They may be in school for 8 months, working for 8 months is another story. In my grands school district, NOTHING has returned to pre COVID. Teachers are extremely lazy giving kids days of movies, outside play and “time” to do their homework in school. My middle school grandson (accelerated program) did not have one single night with homework!
Don’t forget their Cadillac bennies. Healthcare, vacation, sick time, personal time, pensions and funding their advanced degrees so they can get bigger salaries. We pay for them to go to school so they can earn more so we can pay for that too, increasing their pensions so we can fund their retirement for 20-30 years, while we are working well into our 60’s and 70’s. Great gig.
And most of them are not qualified.

You get what you are willing to pay for.
