I’d like to return to a theme I’ve written about before. When we think of Mother’s Day, it is natural for most of us to think of our own mothers and grandmothers, and since we are an adult community here, that means we mostly have in mind older mothers. I hope that if you fall into that category, as I do, your day is wonderful. I hope you share my favorite gift, just some time with your family, laughter, joy, and making memories.
I would like to especially recognize young mothers and wish them a blessed day. Mothers with young children at home, or even teenagers, are in the most demanding phase of their lives. They are on the run from early morning until late at night.
h/t to GGGGggggggrrrrrrrrrr for this awesome video!
There are tasks that need their attention before waking the family, then the morning rush of breakfast, dressing the kids, finding the homework and shoes, corralling everyone and loading the car, making it to school on time. Almost a day’s work before even their own workday starts, and then doing it all in reverse in the evening as they pick up kids. Then there are the demands of sports and extra curricular activities like music, dance, school projects, homework, last minute “Mom, I gotta have this (unusual, hard to find, expensive) thing tomorrow or I fail!!!”
Supper, cleanup, housework, laundry, helping with projects and chores and broken hearts and tears over hurts and troubles. And still, with all these demands on her, there are the needs of her husband, perhaps elderly parents, and her own responsibilities and career.
And somehow, there are superwomen who manage all this as a single mother. I truly hope they have appreciation from not only their kids, but most of the rest of us who underestimate the contributions of these moms to society.
The business done in the home is nothing less than the shaping of the bodies and souls of humanity. The family is the factory that manufactures mankind. |

Mine refuses to talk to me because of my political beliefs, and then blames me for the reason we don’t speak.
Breaks my heart. TDS is real. even after he’s left office.
My mother’s heart breaks into million pieces for you both, rebel. I am so sorry.
Jesse, my apologies. I.meant this for you. God bless.
Jesse, that is so sad. I will pray that Our Lady – perfect Mother of all of us- will soften your mother’s heart so that you have have a loving mother-son relationship with her.
I’m a mom and one of my daughters has me blocked so I can’t reach out to her….she thinks I am demented for supporting Mr Trump and MAGA
Happy Mother’s Day. Just continue to love her. My mom is in heaven, but I cannot conceive ever been so mad at her that I would stop speaking to her.
You’re not, and even if she doesn’t recognize it we know you do it all for her.
My mother hates my wife and disowned me for not divorcing her…😔 still wished her a happy Mothers Day
Too bad really, because we both support MAGA and know covid is a hoax.
Dmaya— I am sending you live and healing on this Mother’s Day! God bless!
Love and healing — but ‘live’ works, too. Wishing you a happy life!
I am pretty sure, Dmaya, that while your daughter takes this position now, the day will come when she will realize what she has missed and is missing by doing so. I hope for you both this will happen sooner rather than later. I pray so. All blessings to you.
Jesse, your comment reminds me of one of my favorite Richard Bach quotes: “Rarely do members of the same family grow up under the same roof.” Keep the fond memories in your heart, keep moving forward and know that the CTH family loves and welcomes you. You can’t fix another’s malignant heart. That task is God’s alone. This mother is grateful for all you do.
As a mom — who just lost my own mom— you have a lot of moms like me out here who send you love and healing.
Sometimes people are too stubborn and self righteous to recognize what is most important in life. Your mom’s living/breathing son —you—are more important than her ideology.
Jesse— I not only lost my mom a few weeks ago— I lost my argumentative, feisty son right after he graduated from high school.
I am not boo-hooing for myself.
I just wish your mom could know how much I would give to have another heated debate— just one more time — with my own son.
Life is short and precious!
God bless you!
Sending you a mother’s love!
Lorrie, my heart goes out to you. I lost my mom many years ago but cannot fathom losing a child. You are truly in my prayers. God is with us all and somehow through Him we get through much sorrow.
The loss of both of them brought me to my knees. It doesn’t go away. However, I am filled with, and surrounded by, the love of so many people— some friends and some acquaintances.
God bless you for your kind thoughts!
I’m aching for you, Lorrie. With some tears that came from nowhere. I am so so sorry.
That sounds like my mother! She has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
I’m so sorry to see this. I lost my own mom in October and this is my first Mother’s Day without her. I wish I had been more patient with her in old age than I was.
These words are simply, just beautiful.
Happy Mothers Day to all.
May the Good Lord Bless all the Mothers here at CTH and all the ladies who are wanting to be! 🙂
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL TREEPER MOMS ON CTH AND
TO ALL MOTHER’S AROUND THE WORLD
TO MY MOM I MISS YOU EVERY DAY
Happy Mother’s Day !
Happy Mother’s Day Menagerie and to all moms in the tree 💐💐💐
As a mom with teens and adult children (and an elderly mother who needs lots of care to boot), I say no time in my life was as physically and emotionally demanding as when I had my first two babies. God bless you Moms – it does get easier. Teens can be draining but at least you’re typically sleeping through the night.
p.s. with the later babies, I stopped following all the advice and just brought them into bed with me. Changed my world. To me, nothing is as important as a good night’s sleep. Happy Mother’s Day to all the aunts and Godmothers and other mother figures out there too!
We called our bed the babies nest. We all piled in even the puppies. Now we have an empty nest. Miss those happy days but our children continue bless our lives.. wherever they may be.
I just shared Chestertons comment with my daughter. Thank you for posting it today. Sometimes it is hard to convey just how much I appreciate her efforts described perfectl in this message.
I am older but have lived the life described when I was a younger single mom.
Thanks for sharing.
I just did the same thing! Perfect words. Thank you for sharing Menagerie and Happy Mothers Day to all!
Mother’s Day blessings to all y’all. “God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.” ~ Rudyard Kipling
If being a “mom” was a job position:
That is a wonderful saying which I see is often attributed to Rudyard Kipling (born in 1865) . . .
I just started reading “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ” by Lew Wallace, which was published in 1880 and there was that saying!
I always loved that and told Mom, sitting next to me, that it was in “Ben-Hur” . . . I confess, I had never looked it up before to see who originated it, I think I vaguely thought it was from a beautiful Hallmark “Mother’s Day” card I had seen many years ago.
Now, I don’t know if Rudyard Kipling did originate that (at or before he was 15 years old) and Lew Wallace heard of it and used it in “Ben-Hur” which was published in 1880 . . .
but whoever said it first, it is true!
“The saying of the old rabbi, ‘God could not be everywhere, and, therefore, he made mothers’” (in Ben-Hur” – so when I read that last week, wondered if it was indeed very, very old – that perhaps Lew Wallace was quiting from the Talmud)
Yes, most likely an old Jewish saying:
“God can’t/couldn’t be everywhere, so he created mothers” is a saying that has been printed on many images. Bohemian Jewish writer Leopold Kompert wrote the saying in his ghetto stories. “Die alte Babele bei Kompert sagt: ‘Gott konnte nicht überall sein, darum hat er die Mutter geschaffen’”. The saying was later printed in the book Rom und Jerusalem (1862) by Moritz Hess. The saying of the old rabbi, ‘God could not be everywhere, and, therefore, he made mothers’ was printed in the novel Ben-Hur (1880) by Lew Wallace.

Greetings to all Mothers and Grandmothers!
Thank you very much for sharing this. I added it in the post. What an awesome find!
My pleasure.
He also, by necessity, gave us an extra pair of eyes. They are in the back of our heads. My children always marveled, when very young, how I knew what they were up to. Those extra eyes were my secret weapon.
God couldn’t be everywhere? The author of that statement needs to understand the concept of Omnipresence.
Today is a sad day in my household. A sad Mother’s Day for my wife- my heart hurts for her. Her father passed away last night. I try not to dwell on the sad side of things- I had enough sadness in the first 18 years to last the rest of my life.
Rather, I am thankful she could be by his side when he passed. I am grateful he was able to watch our son’s college lacrosse team with their conference tournament and championship with her moments before the angels took him away. I am happy that he could turn to her and tell her how proud he was of his grandson and how much he loved his daughter before he took his last breath.
In all of her sadness, I hope my wife can see what a blessed Mother’s day gift that moment can become as the years pass.
To all of the mothers out there- God Bless and Happy Mothers day.
She has you, Dwayne, a blessing. God be with you both.
Sincere condolences Dwayne for your family. Prayers winging their way to cover you with comfort and peace during this time of grief.
It is a good man or woman that can turn thoughts towards gratitude during these times rather than focus on the anguish of a loved one’s passing.
So sorry for your family’s loss, Dwayne Diesel.
Thank you for your courage in sharing the message within, of God’s hope for us.
❤️🙏
It is a privilege to be with a loved one when the Angels come for their soul. It is sad to lose any loved one, but I pray your wife will remember the values and love her Dad taught her.
Prayers for comfort for all who loved Dad. He went from the presence of his beloved daughter to the Throne of God
God bless you and your family, Dwayne.
God Bless you and your family Dwayne.
My sincere sympathy to you, your wife, and family.
You are so insightful and correct about what a gift it is sharing those final moments with a passing loved one. Your understanding will be a gift to her, as well, in the coming weeks and months.
Lord, have mercy on his soul.
Condolences to you and your family, Dwayne. 🙏 ✝
So sorry other of your family’s loss-Glad he got to see the lax games! Prayers for your family.
Prayers and thoughts to your family safe
Prayers for your wife and family. I’m so sorry for her loss.
My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences and prayers to you…so sad. Such a huge loss
Happy Mother’s Day to all in this Tree and to all mothers and grandmothers everywhere. It’s the highest calling and the greatest honour to be a mother. A job for life…24/7/365…but with the most glorious benefits for which there is no price.
May our Father bless every mother who gives all of herself for her family, and rest eternal to all mothers who have left this world, having loved us as we love our gifts from Him.
Amen
I know other moms feel the same as I acknowledge my 2 lovely daughters as the greatest blessing in my life- and I’m amazed that so many women work full time as they raise their families- God bless all moms today.
“A mother is she who can take the place of all others
but whose place no one else can take” Happy Mother’s Day to all the truly amazing moms out there.
Happy Mother’s Day!
God bless all mothers
Thank you Menagerie. A very blessed and happy Mother’s Day to you.
To all treepettes here: a very Happy Mother’s Day.
This is just precious, as are you, Menagerie. Happy Mother’s Day to you and all my fellow Treeper mothers!
It’s been 25 years since my mother passed away. She had a stroke and was in the hospital, unable to speak. They were making arrangements to move her to a rehab facility. She took a tissue box from the nightstand and wrote these words on the back of it:
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
She handed the tissue box to my dad and died of a massive stroke.
Just beautiful! The perfect way to leave this life.
Happy Mother’s Day Sundance and to all the others out there!
Mrs Menagerie,
I love your mother’s heart.
Sundance married up.
Mr Vince.
Thanks for your kind words, but I’m not married to Sundance.
Oopsie……God’s Blessings Dear …
To the fathers out there. . .
Step up and be a man. Protect your family from the dangers that life brings, both financial danger and danger to life and health. We have to do this. The jobs the mothers are doing are much too important for them to have to think about the things that you should be doing. They do what they do every hour of every day without ceasing. Your job is to provide them a feedom to do it.
To the moms that always do the hard work without ceasing, Happy Mother’s Day!
That’s how it should be. Today’s battles are in our neighborhoods, living rooms, hearts, and minds.
Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers! God bless you all.
Thank you, Menagerie and Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day to you as well!
I do appreciate your posts; always so thoughtful and full of love.
Joyous blessing for my family this Mothers Day– Daughter gave birth to a brand new baby boy ! Born May 7, healthy and strong. Being a grandparent is the greatest joy!
I agree with you, grandchildren bring great joy! We are blessed to have 7.
Each one is my Cushla~the throb of my heart (Irish Gaelic).
An interesting Mother’s Day factoid: This is the biggest sales day of the year at almost every KFC in the USA, by far.
(Side note: The lowest sales day of the year for KFC also happens every year on the same day for a very different reason, the day after Thanksgiving when there are leftovers aplenty.)
Thank you! Mother’s Day blessings!
My mother died when I was four years old but know she was a great person. She prayed for my two brothers and I and we remain close through my 65 years on this planet. Thank you Mom
To my wonderful wife, you are a saint. Thx for being a great mother to our two sons and always putting others before yourself. I love you immensely.
God’s Blessings to all mothers. May God grant you peace, happiness and love all your days
It’s comforting to know that God is all-knowing, and I trust he’s with all mothers and fathers today, and with every one of his children everyday.
May the greatest blessings of God be upon all of you, this Mother’s Day.
Wonderful post, menagerie. Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the Treeper moms. 💐🌻💎
We have two young mothers in our family ( our D.I.L.s)
One has a little boy that is a year old next Saturday.
The other has two boys, the second was born on April 11 2022.
We will have a good day with them as on lives next door ( literally) and the other 10 min drive away.
Our mum is in her mid eighties. Her life was a hard one, and is a real cynic and despises Mothers Day.
She will be out driving her 4×4 around her small farm and taking care of her animals.
We will give her a call regardless of her reaction, as we know deep down she kinda likes it.😉
Cheers to all !
Excellent.
Happy Mom’s Day.
Thank you Menagerie…wow. The video was perfect. Tears with my coffee. I have raised two men I am so proud of, and yesterday hosted a shower for my new daughter-in-law to be. Now I take care of the beautiful mom (and dad) who raised me and my 3 siblings. I’ve come full circle and feel God’s blessings every day. Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the treeper moms! 🌷
Happy Mothers Day, Ladies!
Your love, devotion and hard work makes this world a much better place.
May the Peace of the Lord be with you Always.
And with you. Thank you for mentioning The Lord in your post. The holy priest in our Catholic Church reminded us of the Greatest Sacrifice, then reminded us of the sacrifices of each of our mothers from the minute we are conceived.
We give thanks to God our Father in the Most Holy Name of Jesus for all Mothers on this day.
Our Holy Mother, Mary is remembered as our Spiritual Mother.
my wife’s great-grandmother was in her early thirties when her husband was drafted into the German Army and sent to fight on the Eastern Front in 1914…he never returned (was reportedly killed in action & buried in what is now Estonia). She was pregnant at the time and was already raising 4 youngsters. Somehow, she managed to raise 5 kids by herself in the Lorraine during the period between the two World Wars and lived to be 98. My wife said she was a very simple and deeply religious woman who never complained about anything. God bless her and all the other mothers out there who have endured similar trials…methinks there is a special place in Heaven for y’all
“Hello, darling. I just wanted to tell you that I miss you….”
Happy Mother’s Day to all our Moms here. You’re all incredibly awesome for many reasons, but being patriots fighters for our children’s future is another level of special. You all make our worlds go round!
Much love and respect to you all!!!
I just lost my mom in December and I can attest that she met these requirements. Moms who haven’t been filched by society of their natural instincts are like avatars of God on earth, showing the caring, nurturing, always persevering side of his character. And for that they should be cherished and honored as often and as creatively as we can think up ways to do so.
Happy Mother’s Day to CTH moms and moms everywhere.
😉
My birth mom died an “untimely death”. My mom adopted a year old me and my slightly older two siblings shortly after marrying my father. A big thank you to her.
Truthfully, I didn’t really comprehend the scale of the love in that act until after my children reached adult & near adulthood my incredible wife convinced me to join her in reaching into the foster system and eventually adopt a young girl and even later her baby sister. (I’m totally wrapped around their fingers). 🥰
Wonderful wife and mother!
-Eph. 1:5
Hello, Menagerie. I did the lettering artwork you attached to this post. I hope it blesses all the Treeper Moms out there. And if you would like to send it as an e-card, it is available on CardFool.com. 🙂
Thank you for allowing me to share it. I thought it was so beautiful when I went looking for a picture to use that I chose this instead. It jumped out at me!
What a beautiful post. I want to echo all menagerie’s sentiment.
I miss my mom – left this earth in July of 1997. Her spirit still lives in me and her grandchildren! I bless my daughter, who turned out to be a most wonderful mother to her sons. I am so lucky to have been surrounded by wonderful women in my life.
Beautiful video. Hanky, please.
I miss my godly mom every day and thank God for blessing me by making her my mom.
I always love your posts Menagerie, even if they make me cry.
so many articles describe abortion as conflict between mother and child only. I see it as mother against child, child’s father, child’s grandparents, uncles, aunts, society. on the mother’s side are the left and the abortion industry urging her on.
Thank you to everybody here for sharing sweet things for me to send to my loved ones! And HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
LOL!!!
