A US panel has urged the Joe Biden administration to impose targeted sanctions on India over what it called the erosion of religious freedom under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi.
For the third year in a row, the United States Commission on International Freedom (USCIRF) recommended the US state department designate India as a “country of particular concern” for “engaging in and tolerating systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom”.
In its 2022 report, published on Monday, the bipartisan panel asked the Biden administration to “impose targeted sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for severe violations of religious freedom” by freezing their assets and/ or prohibiting them from entering the US.
The Modi administration has previously rejected the panel’s findings, calling it an “organisation of particular concern”.

As far as the minor controversy over Governor De Santis’ actions toward Disney goes, I understand the point of view who fear a tyrant taking vengeance on political enemies.
However, I checked my own point of view that this is not what DeSantis is doing, against the opinions of people I know to be sticklers for the rule of law and following the Constitution, and they are in agreement that he is not out of bounds here.

After the tragic death of Guardsman Bishop Evans, there should be hard rules for Guardsmen and Border Patrol regarding entering the Rio Grande. The two drug smugglers survived, and teams had to be sent out to recover Evans’ body after being lost for some time.

Saving a drowning victim (let alone two) is dangerous for even those trained to do so, and even in placid waters. This should never have happened, and there must be clear rules to prevent such deaths of our people going forward.

We lost a good man, spent lots of resources, and two drug traffickers live – only to use up more American dollars in their care.
As a kid in swimming class, we were warned the extreme danger of trying to save someone from drowning – what to do, and what not to do. Those serving us at the border should have explicit rules to ensure their own safety first and foremost. The loss of Bishop Evans is a prime example why.
Have you ever had confined space training? That natural response is how tragedies get turned into catastrophes. A worker drops due to lack of oxygen. Another worker goes to save him and drops too. One after another the people who discover the bodies repeat the process. More people die trying to rescue than die from the accident.
On the lighter side, a researcher working in such a facility decided to solder directly beneath an oxygen detector in a basement. Realizing that he had tripped the evacuation alarm, he ignored it and kept soldering. The men whose job was to ‘dive’ in to find and recover any victims were very mad at the idiot.
And saving somebody from drowning requires special training. Just like the people trained to bring their oxygen with them require more training than those of us who were trained to keep our heads and get out to safety so that those people could be called.

I have real life experience…my dad was a coke oven facility supervisor and worked as a lead stone stone mason rebuilding coke ovens. We went to a couple funerals of friends who went into ovens undergoing repair to rescue a collapsed mason not following procedure.
Rivers often have deceptively strong currents It may seem calm and still by the shoreline and suddenly deepen and come with current. Most people do not swim well enough to rescue another without the help of a flotation device. Even if you can swim, it is likely you will rapidly tire, especially if you cannot touch the bottom and are being dragged down by another struggling person.
I am so sorry for this well meaning and brave young man and his family. It is better to throw out a flotation device or even a rope to drag someone in,
then go in yourself. Lesson learned the hard way for Border Patrol.
The irony of course, is the person he was trying to save was smuggling drugs. The corruption continues at all levels.
This was a National Guardsman. While I cannot find further details, I am shocked that our military wouldn’t have safety protocols and procedure. Everyone knows how dangerous the Rio Grande can be. God rest his soul, and may his family find peace.

What we saw was internally produced and contracted science that focused on case rates, while (inconvenient) information in the published scientific literature on vaccine risk, waning and breakthrough was ignored.
This produced a tightly controlled scope of knowledge production that then failed to adhere to long-established democratic and public health principles. Responsible risk governance requires that governments must be responsive to data that indicates a technology is not as effective or is possibly more harmful than estimated, – for a democratic government’s primary role is the protection and safety of all citizens. Technology must not be valorized, and uncertainty set aside, in order to achieve policy ends.

A big filing last night in the Durham case exposed the emails between Fusion GPS and the MSM smear participants, as they geared the wolf pack up to go after Sergei Millian, including sending around his IP address — which it was speculated on the podcast last night was possibly secured by Danchenko sending Millian an email with a tracker in it.
The timing suggests Danchenko was sicced on Millian after the conspirators decided he was a good target to frame as a connection point between Trump and Russia.

I refused to vote for McSally in Az, despite PDJT’s backhanded endorsement, given without any enthusiasm.
I had watched as the State RNC and Governor manipulated the process using a “splitter” candidate to knock out the MAGA candidate in the primary.
So, many MAGA voters, like me refused to vote for McSally, and Kirsten Synema got the seat,…
given subsequent events, its the second vote I am most proud of NOT casting.
The first was in 2012, when like 8 million registered Republicans, I could not bring myself to vote for Romney.
Point being, sometimes not voting for the Rino DOES mean the D gets in, but thats not always a bad thing.
I THINK it was Obummers second term, that pushed PDJT to run.
And, I sleep just fine at night, with this stand. If I had voted for Romney or McSally, not so much.
I do what RINOs do. I withhold my vote.
It’s a one way street. I take that back. It’s worse. When a RINO doesn’t get their way, they collude with the left to remove a sitting politician.
I am not going to reward that. I am not going to rationalize abuse. My complaints aren’t about Murray. My complaints are about being stuck on a plantation the way we always talk about Blacks and the Democrats and people who can’t see the similarity.
The real answer is a real opposition party. Something that would be wildly supported by the conservative base. But that requires some galvanizing impetus and unless that shows up, I have been stripped of my right to a political voice because of RINOs.
I keep having this argument with spouse regarding Kirsten Synema- that she’s some moderate and wouldn’t be terrible if re-elected. I say she’s voted in lockstep with Dems except her one big shiny moment with BBB!!! WTF
Exactly, the Dems play the same games as the Rino’s – let someone vote to kill a bill that is widely unpopular giving them a “moderate” look (when I say “let”, I mean it, did a single R senator ever use their power to allow recess appointments for PDJT? Again, Rino’s aren’t the solution and they suck. They just suck less than the D’s. The big issue is doing a take over with MAGA and dem MAGA types (the true “blue dog” dems – yes, there’s a huge voting bloc that don’t necessarily agree with the ultra left wing dem people, just like we don’t agree with the Rino’s), but until people get rid of the notion that there’s a “perfect” candidate and each candidate needs to pass some type of purity test (on both sides, left and right) we won’t ever have a better option.

Prior to Woodrow Wilson, Democrats were the party of States’ rights and sound money. If they returned to their roots, I would eagerly vote for them. Why destroy what was once a force for good in American politics?
I completely understand what you’re saying, we need some other choice besides Rino’s, but how, in reality, does that happen?
The problem is people are uniformed, if they were better at learning about things on their own and making sound choices, then advertising wouldn’t even be an industry. So how to we get real candidates on ballots and get people to vote for them, that’s the million dollar question.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens to Twitter. I never joined, but have followed links there. Nor am I a fan of social media (only use Facebook casually and infrequently for some hobby interests and some casual family comments).
However, Twitter seems to be vitally important for so many, who integrate it into their daily lives on a continual basis.
But think back to the Canadian trucker protest. Musk was supportive on Twitter, which made a big impact on public perception of the free speech issue. And he is supportive of Russell Brand and others who prioritize free speech and are cynical about MSM operations.
Of course he has financial motives, as well as enigmatic views on other issues. But if he manages to deconstruct a major leftist bastion then it could build momentum and encourage others to challenge the status quo.
It took Trump’s billions to finance him for his run as a serious candidate. And it’s taking Musk’s billions to take over a leftist stronghold. And Bill Gates, Soros and the like on the other side, essentially financing their world changing objectives. Money still talks, even in an ideologically polarized world.
