Reuters has an interesting article about changes within the Pennsylvania electorate and a surge in Republican voter registration. One of the key notes from their research is a large shift in Democrat registration voters switching to the Republican Party. “Republicans have converted four Democrats for every Republican who has switched to the Democratic Party, according to data published by Pennsylvania’s Department of State.”
In the Keystone State Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey is retiring this year, and Pennsylvanians will vote for governor following the exit of Democrat Tom Wolf. Voter registration ends May 2nd, and the Pennsylvania primary is May 17th {link} [General election Nov 8].
The Pennsylvania voters, interviewed by Reuters, shared the issues they consider important to them including (1) crushing inflation, gas prices, (2) economy overall, (3) major rise in crime, (4) border security, and (5) cultural issues to include the leftist shift in education.
Even in strong Democrat districts like Philadelphia, the outcomes of Democrat local and national policies are turning voters toward the Republican Party.
The Reuters article frames the issue in terms of a warning to Democrats for the 2022 election, using example of voter registration shifts in key states. However, as we have seen from the experience with the professionally Republican Party, if there’s one organization who can (intentionally) screw up an opportunity for push-back against advancing leftism, on either the state or especially the federal level, it’s the GOPe.

Retired Magistrate here: In Municipal Court yes; in Common Pleas Court, no. I was responsible for the entire Domestic Relations docket, preliminary hearings in non Domestic Relations hearings, jury trials in some instances and criminal arraignment cases. The Judge I worked for treated me as an equal and gave me all the responsibility a Magistrate could have under the law.
I am not so sure the interpretation is that Republican or anti-democrat sentiment is surging just because registrations are. If I am a hardcore leftie democrat and I switch my registration to Republican in order to vote in the republicans’ primary, then I can influence who the republicans run in November. Maybe my friends and I can thwart a MAGA candidate in the
primary. In November I will still vote democrat.

So there is a push to register people before the cut off for the primary.

Sounds good, but these trends occurred bigly in 2020 here in PA. Traditionally dem regions like labor union and farm counties saw massive registration switches to republican.
But, but and but, the unconstitutional ACT 77 is still in place which will allow paper votes to go out in any direction and come back in any direction with the numbers to once again be massaged by the machines during voting ‘season.’

I don’t think the level of voter anger being generated will just dissipate after voting in the Republicans, they’ll want something done and done quickly. Fraud’s too risky, if the pendulum is swinging, people will expect a change and an establishment narrative of Democratic ‘miracles’ will be believed as much as the, ‘it’s all Putin’s fault’ is being believed today. I think the panic is setting in now because all their efforts at distraction and misdirection have either failed or been weaponised and turned against them, the lastest being the frantic attempts to deny the ‘groomer’ label.
If they think this is bad, imagine what’s going to happen when Hunter’s laptop makes it’s way into people’s political conciousness; the realisation that Russia, Russia, Russia was a Clinton scam adopted by an all too willing bureaucracy to stop and then remove a sitting President.
