Perhaps you should look into more modern designs with online reprocessing. Molten salt reactors could not only produce electricity, but their waste process heat could also be used to covert coal into gasoline.
I am familiar with MSR and thorium reactors. I still have yet to see how the spent fuel can be reprocessed and stored in a way that isn’t poison to all of life for longer then recorded human history.
I am also familiar with gasification. The biggest issue being the amount of energy required to produce usable gasoline type energy. It’s largely inefficient as far as anything I’ve seen.
The fuel keeps cycling through until it’s reduced to less dangerous isotopes. Have a look at one option here:

France and Scandanavia have been reprocessing and storing nuclear waste for decades. Those countries get 50%+ of their energy from nuclear. Finland is about to open a new permanent storage facility. You can look up how they handle it.
There is also the fusion project ITER. Obama pulled the US out of that one.
4th gen fission reactors can use reprocessed fuel, the thinking that ‘no solution to nuclear waste’ is really 1st and 2nd gen fission reactors issue. When this industry/technology is so maligned, especially in US, no new tech is researched upon at scale and thusly not commercialized. If it wasn’t maligned, we may have 5th
+ gen fission reactors producing truly reliable and emissions free power at scale, with very low/near zero waste, and we’d be less than a decade from commercial fusion energy. 4+ decades wasted indeed :-(.

Like my ecodiesel. If you gotta drive a towing capable half ton like I do, it’s great. 27 mpg at 70 mph! However this manufactured crisis might finally hit me. The previous ones missed me – self employed in deep red state so I did what I wanted.
With that said, I am very glad I kept my 40 year old K1500 gasser when the dealer asked if I was making a trade. I bought the truck when it was 14 years old, and since then have rebuilt or replaced everything but the body….and no computer to worry about. The 12-15 mpg is where it hurts, and since I decided to put in a hot cam plus performer intake and throttle body to go with the holly carb…it takes premium so it really hurts.
Only silver lining – all the buyed-in voters are feeling it good and hard too.
I do understand your pain. I also applaud your decision to keep and maintain the 1980-something K1500. My son has a small fleet of pre-computer vehicles from the late 70s thru the 80s. He abhors buying anything newer than mid 90s precisely b/c of the computers, and especially because of the ability to remotely access those computers in the last 15+ years.
I myself drive a 20 year old vehicle (that I purchased new in ’02) because it runs well, it’s comfortable as well as versatile, and it still looks very good. Gas mileage isn’t terrific – about 18 to 23mpg, but I only drive about 50 miles per week on average since being retired so it doesn’t hit the wallet hard. And being an American vehicle, parts are still easy to find.
I love my old pickup. Rides better, seats are more comfortable, and it only has what a vehicle needs. Stuff like headlights, motor, tranny, wheels, am/fm radio… Cars today have way too much unnecessary stuff.
Unfortunately older fleet vehicles like your sons don’t fit my needs. I’m a contractor in a rural area about 40 miles from anything needed for what I do. I needed something fuel efficient when not pulling a trailer, but capable still of pulling 2-4 tons regularly. Also, it needs to be able.to withstand 200k miles over 7-10 years. The ecodiesel fit the bill (I hope). It’s got about 100k miles on it now, and will be mileaged out in about 3 more years. It’s had 3 problems over that period. Until the parts shortages recently caused a 3 month hiccup….the prior 2 repairs went smoothly.

I have a large mechanics tool box, and battery powered impact driver with socket set. There is virtually no problem I can’t fix as long as I have a part.
I also carry spare plugs, bulbs, fuses, a belt, hose clamps, and fuel filter in a Walmart bag behind the seat. That eliminates like 90% of what I’d be likely to face in a breakdown.
Computers jack the whole thing up. My ecodiesel blew the upper turbo hose, and shut off the truck. If I didn’t carry an OBD reader/code clearer…it would’ve been tow time. Instead I reset the clamp and hose, and computer then continued down the road to have a marry Christmas. Later traced the issue to a plugged map sensor overboosting the turbo, and it didn’t ruin our families holiday.
Reading the prior posts my comment to self was ‘computer’ in daily driver is a mechanical diesel injection pump. No electricity required. With manual trans it can get going with a small hill or shove and has a few times over the decades. Same setup the tractors have. Life in rural America.
I have a low mileage ’04 Powerstroke E350. I might consider a diesel again in the future if it is NOT turbocharged. I had a 1993 E50 with the International 7.3 and that was the last full year for a non turbo in a Ford. V8s in a van are hard enough to service but the presence of all the turbo piping, plumbing, sensors, modules and switches make it an absolute nightmare to service.
When it comes to gas engines I will take the 4.9 l, 300 ci straight six over all others. Chevrolet made a 292 straight six truck engine that is highly thought of among Chevy owners I know.
Inline 6s are great. My personal favorite is the old 4.0 HO from 20+ year old jeeps. They may have used them elsewhere, but my only experience was the jeep motor.
Also, I agree that turbos can mess things up. However, I do like the inline 6 turbo cummins in the Rams. I don’t own one, but have seen many with 300k miles still going….usually after a 150-200k mile turbo replacement

I live in Alabama. In my opinion, Mo Brooks has been running solely on Trump’s endorsement for months without offering any solutions or remedies to the insane policies of the Biden administration. He

To me, the 2016 paper looks a lot like the 2015 one. Moreover, its rationale is not very clear to me: after all, WIV1/Rs3367 already shared 96% of their genome with SARS-CoV. So I am not sure why one would want to insert a spike protein from its closest relative back into SARS-CoV. Maybe just because they could. In this light, the title of the article acquires a certain duality: SARS-like WIV1-CoV poised for human emergence.
Oh, and I am not sure how in 2015 Baric was granted a patent for the creation of “chimeric coronavirus spike proteins”, given all that he and Shi Zhengli previously disclosed in their papers long before 2015.

Both wild-type and chimeric viruses were derived from either SARS-CoV Urbani or the correspond-ing mouse-adapted (SARS-CoV MA15) infectious clone (ic) as previously described27. Plasmids containing spike sequences for SHC014 were extracted by restriction digest and ligated into the E and F plasmid of the MA15 infec-tious clone. The clone was designed and purchased from Bio Basic as six contiguous cDNAs using published sequences flanked by unique class II restriction endonuclease sites (BglI). Thereafter, plasmids containing wild-type, chimeric SARS-CoV and SHC014-CoV genome fragments were ampli-fied, excised, ligated and purified. In vitro transcription reactions were then preformed to synthesize full-length genomic RNA, which was transfected into Vero E6 cells as previously described2. The medium from transfected cells was harvested and served as seed stocks for subsequent experiments. Chimeric and full-length viruses were confirmed by sequence analysis before use in these studies. Synthetic construction of chimeric mutant and full-length SHC014-CoV was approved by the University of North Carolina Institutional Biosafety Committee and the Dual Use Research of Concern committee. Controversial math problems mentioning child sexual assault and prostitution were assigned at a junior high charter school in Arizona as recently as December, even though the math problems first came under scrutiny in 2017.
The math problems are based on Maya Angelou’s book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and asks students to fill in the blank: “Angelou was sexually abused by her mother’s _______ at age 8, which shaped her career choices and motivation for writing.”
The answer options include: a. (0, 2) boyfriend; b. (4, 6) brother; c. (-3, -1) father.
Another fill-in-the-blank problem reads, “Trying to support her son as a single mother, she worked as a pimp, prostitute and _______.”
The answer choices include: a. (-3, -2) Bookie; b. (4, 6) Drug Dealer c. (-3, -1) Night Club Dancer.

IMHO, Mormons believe that taking in an orphan (or unwanted/unable to be cared for by biological parent) gives them such a ‘high morality’ index that whatever becomes of that child is of no stain on their self adulation.
Perhaps, such as is the case where a Mormon family has only produced males, taking in a female child such that those boys can ‘see what girls are made of’, is thought of as a ‘progressive’ motive, as the ‘excuse’ of ‘what could have happened to that little girl if no one intervened’ is the rebuttal to any objections.
And, being a patriarchal religion, the womenfolk are made out to be saints for being so ‘accommodating’ . . .
