In one of the videos at the Alberta-Montana meetings the truckers had a rep telling the RCMP their requirements for breaking up and going home…..they then offered the RCMP to join them telling them they were “all in this together”…the RCMP Sergeant leader told them “we can’t”….whereby the truckers’ spokesman again told them “You have a choice”
thats when you skip the SGT and go directly to each of the guys on the line.
I guess when the government wants to defund them, denigrate them and prosecute them, we the people should just tell them to quit complaining because they believe the government can dictate anything it wants to.

This was the first one we saw using the American flag.
My hubby sold big rigs in the 90’s and early 2000’s. He saw a drastic change in owner operators demographics, also a shift of American O/O to becoming employees of corporate trucking outfits.
He would often caution me not to trust truckers in the way I was accustomed to. Many unsafe truckers are now on the road. Beware, we’re not in Kansas anymore.
That’s right. We used to tell people, “truck drivers are professionals.. they know what they are doing.” Not anymore.
Many of them can barely keep the truck between the lines. Unsafe and uncourteous.
Yep. Sad but true. As a wee lad, I remember truck drivers as being the most courteous, most polite, and most helpful people on the road, especially interstates.
Today, not so much. A lot do not know what the turn signal thingy is. When it is used, it is turned on just when the truck starts to change lanes.
This is not to denigrate ALL truckers, but there are a LOT of bad ones on the road today. Unfortunately.
I recently drove 2600 miles across the country on 40 from san jose ca to blountville tn and most of the truckers were great traveling companions. The really big semis that are in good condition and clean are the professionals, the local haulers in smaller, less well-maintained trucks were the problem.
They have a code of conduct on the freeway and i would follow what they did. Slowed when they did ( speed traps or an accident ahead), passed or let them pass in the right lane, etc.
Everyone drives in the right lane and uses the left only for passing, except in california.
Btw, i closed on my little 88 yr old farmhouse on almost an acre in East Tennessee on 1/18. I’m in heaven. I’m in utter thankfulness for the blessings of hope and a less destructive future for my adult kids ( if they choose to follow).

That is correct. They also don’t have the same pride in their rigs which also creates hazards for themselves and others on the road . They will buy a rig, max loan, run the heck out of it and then walk away when it’s no longer financially beneficial, leaving outstanding loans and no ramifications. Immigrants have our system very well figured out.
We used to get a kick out of watching some of them try and back up to the loading dock, the real drivers swung in lined up and backed right in gently bumping into the dock plate then pulled out a couple feet and got out walked back opened the doors and then slowly eased in.. The new “not from here” would swing in and then proceed to go this way and that, the trailer going sideways etc. after several minutes they would finally figure it out but then it would take several more minutes to actually get tight to the dock plate, It was eyeopening to see how badly some of these guys and a few gals were..
Watching truckers hopping up on their flatbeads chaining down standing steel coils (in a “suicide” position) is a thing of great strength, skill and beauty.
Had an excavating company for a few years and a couple lowboys and tractors to get the equipment moved. Your post reminded me of all the times using a 3’ pice of iron pipe to snap the binders shut when chaining down equipment. Saved the fingers.

While negative perceptions about Facebook’s social and political impact are playing a role in overall investor sentiment, the stock market, as a whole, is undergoing one of its periodic major adjustments in sentiment.
Tech and social media companies have had huge, multi-year run-ups in stock price. Now, it’s time for the big money to look for other opportunities, especially as the inflation and interest rate environment is weighing on everyone’s mind.
Also, younger people are using other social media platforms, more than Facebook, which, believe it or not, is now “old school.”
I wrote this in yesterday’s blog, but one of the reasons for Facebook’s fall is that the 20-somethings and under don’t use Facebook.
My young adult daughter doesn’t have a Facebook account, nor does she have ANY friends that she is aware has an account. She told me that Facebook is “for old people”…
It’s just a small sampling, but I think it’s indicative of Facebook’s future – fewer and fewer younger users.
The rebranding to Meta wasn’t done without this in mind – the company is clearly trying to refresh itself and bring into the fold the next generation.

As far as I’m aware, that push began with my parents’ generation. Most Millennials grew up raised by the schools, not their parents. They’re now perpetuating that mistake, although to be fair, it’s almost impossible to live in a single income at this point, much less raise children on one.

Here’s a real life homeschool victory. Yes, it’s anecdotal, but it’s MY anecdote.
My son is autistic, profoundly globally apraxic, has ADHD (yes, it’s real), and OCD. He would be a “throw away” in public screwel. The local school district refused to give him in IEP when he timed out of the Easter Seals project. He couldn’t speak. He had no clue how to make a motor plan for anything requiring fine or fine-fine motor skills.
Now? After thousands of dollars in private O/T, speech language therapy, and developmental preschool (poor parents got it free through SSI)? He’s performing a year ahead of his public screwel peers. He’s doing chemistry this year (and wrote a spontaneous paper on the need to use more atomic energy), trigonometry (will get calc later in the spring if he gets his butt in gear or he can stay in h/s until he does finish calc–I’m in no hurry! HA!), and has read and created five and ten page MLA compliant typed reports on Achebe’s “Things Fall Apart,” Solzhenitsyn’s “In the First Circle,” Ginzburg’s “Into the Whirlwind,” and Cobb’s “Paths of Glory.” He’s on track to read and report on these books this Spring: 1984, Animal Farm, Of Mice and Men, We, and the Humanist and Communist Manifestoes. His focus this year for history is the 20th century. His topic is: totalitarianism and the dignity of the individual.
These kids in Baltimore don’t need more money thrown at their school. They need involved parents who give a d@mn about their kids.

My four-year-old is autistic. Very high functioning, for which I profoundly thank God. Going to get him into speech therapy once I get the letter from Developmental Pediatrics for the insurance. Going to join the homeschool association this September and get him started. He’s already taught himself everything he would have learned in preschool.

A lot of people liked Facebook and do not want to be part of whatever it is now.

Just got back from the Walmart. The store by our house has been somewhat low stocked on a lot of things (we’re up in one corner and others more central have been a little better stocked), but today: the candy isle was full stocked with noticeably higher prices.
My theory, the corporatist were waiting for the low priced base materials to filter through the system so they could pass on the price hikes. It’s just too convenient of timing for the shelves to be fuller.
We are also approaching a candy and flowers holiday.
Can’t lose all our profit now, can we?

I was in a hurry and forgot to head down the meat aisle. The Publix across the street has been well stock with meat but this Walmart was always low.

One of my favorite doctors, Dr. Thomas Levy, released a new article on Tuesday. In this new article Dr. Levy states how he recovered from Covid–probably the Omicron variant. But not only that, Dr. Levy said that after using this protocol, he was feeling better than he had in 30 or 40 years. Dr. Levy also states that “when you have enough vitamin C and cortisol present, you simply do not (or more precisely, cannot) get a viral infection. And if you are subjected to an overwhelming large viral exposure, you will only get mild symptoms that promptly resolve.”
Dr. Levy calls Adrenal/Cortisol Insufficiency the unrecognized pandemic. He describes the protocol that he developed: “I finally settled in with a dose of 3 grams of liposome-encapsulated vitamin C accompanied by a 10 mg dose of hydrocortisone twice daily.”
