What got me was the journalist walking up to a pallet full of boxes labelled “Non-sterilized surgical gowns”-Who wants their surgeon wearing a non sterilized surgical gown into surgery?

“surgical gowns” are used for many things outside an O.R. setting that don’t warrant them being sterile. They are primarily used to protect the person wearing them who comes in contact with an infectious patient. Often patients are isolated in a hospital room with things like C Diff. or in the nursery setting, masks, gloves and gowns are on a cart outside of the room with signs to garb up before entry. Staff and visitors need to wear them to enter a room. Normal protocol for years. We are losing our perspective of “normal”.
Ironically, I am combing through old photos and came across a couple of my grandchildren when they were toddlers and got sick in January (imagine that). I had them at the pediatricians office and because they WERE SICK they had to wear masks. I sent them the photos to remind them of normal life. Also in my photos was one of hubby, grandkids at a restaurant with napkins tied around their faces like bandits. That was to amuse them while the food was taking so long.

Where I am at right now, shortages seem to rotate the products in short supply.
One thing that I forgot about, under the shortage realm: HP printer ink for a variety of different printers. And printer paper. Those shelves are quite bare. And they have been, for a while.
I am finding more issues with non food items. As far as groceries, certain items are almost impossible to get most weeks, but make an appearance from time to time. I find it a bit annoying, but not life changing. If I never saw another frozen potato product, my life would not change, my joy unaffected. Growing up, we had no extra money in our budget to buy dog food or cat food. They ate “table scraps” or caught their own. I was told by an old doc, and also a vet, that survival is the strongest instinct and healthy “animals” will never starve themselves. They’ll eat eventually. I am stunned at times at how very spoiled we are.
Not minimizing the inflation or what may still be coming, but until I have to eat grass, this is not hardship.

That has been a recurring feature for years when trying to get more ink for my mom’s hp printer. Don’t know if it was just printer specific or an all round ink shortage.
Some of these ‘shortages’ seem temporary and others seem permanent. And when the store removes the tags, giving shelf space to other products, you know they are permanent. At least for that store.
But the fact that the stores have not been able to fully recover from the runs on everything since this began is troubling. It used to be that runs on groceries that plague a major snowstorm would be recovered in very few days, despite affecting a huge portion of the country. I didn’t sue but they didn’t like me walking into their accounts payable department and making the stink I made.
Basically they paid me to go away by writing off the final bill.
What’s going on by these hospitals thwarting right to try laws is awful.
Try crying and making the stink in the accounts payable office.
If that’s not working make them sue you and then counter sue for damages.
Don’t let them get a judgement for unpaid amounts. We need to rise up and make this costly and financially impossible for them to collect.
If your loved one goes on a vent you should even consider bankruptcy for them just to stick it to these hospitals.

Over the holidays I was having house guests. I really needed a new mattress in the guest room, but didn’t want to fork over the $$$ for a new mattress that is seldom used.
