(I have been “revisiting” the rosary, used to pray it more than once a day when helping my Mom with my Dad who had dementia, just kept it in my pocket and it helped me a lot, it actually helped me to focus on Dad and what he was saying, even if he had said it many times before . . . so now in the time since, with the pandemic, it seems like a good thing for me, and for anyone who might not be able to get to church. Also have been reading about Padre Pio again . . . he prayed the rosary throughout the day . . . he wrote prayers and letters to his “spiritual children” which we found in a daily prayer guidance that we now read everyday . . . but the thing that Padre Pio said that was so pithy and wonderful that Mom and I frequently repeat to each other is this: “pray, hope and don’t worry”)

I’m having a bout of what I think is despair. Not vaccinated. Won’t wear masks. My go-to ramen place didn’t want to give me my order tonight because I didn’t have a mask. That’s a first. The owner eventually brought it out to me and wouldn’t take the $10 tip I always give. He said I offended him and his workers.
I don’t feel bad about my intentions at all. What I’m struggling with is why I still feel any compassion for him. I pray all the time to not let covid covid covid ruin my relationships, but I also pray for the strength to not comply with the madness. These prayers conflict. The owner is a nice guy and he really is scared. But at the same time, so what. I will honor his request to not come back, but for the life of me I can’t understand why I still want his business to be successful so he can provide for his family.
Are these people pitiful fools or are they the enemy? Or are these pitiful fools the enemy? I think I know what walking with God in these times looks like. Neither compassion or anger seem right though. I’m having a hard time letting go of my favorite restaurants, but much more so some of my best friends.

We are called to pray for one another as well as to love one another. No one said it would be easy, and guidance regarding how to do this is worth seeking. Peace.

Make your own ramen. I worked at restaurants for decades and many would be shocked to know how you food is handled. Stay home, save money, eat clean.
Agree. In the past 2 years, I’ve eaten out zero times. I find that I’m better off staying home and fixing my own foods. I have done too much reading about how the ‘workers’ handle food in said restaurants to be comfortable eating out any more. In these days, why would anyone take the chance. Most don’t even bother to wash their hands but they fix the food.
I don’t think you have to make a choice between compassion or anger. Prayers for all don’t have to align with rights, wrongs or anything else.

I have very close family members from Asia whom I love. I want to talk to you about a cultural predisposition, as we in American have different cultural dispositions ourselves that mistify people. Firstly, because it was a ramen shop, are the employees Asian?
Asians are very superstitious. And if you look around your community, every Asian wears a mask. Without exception.
Generally speaking, most Asians are very afraid of the virus, as are my close family members. They don’t get exposed to articles and facts that challenge this. In other words, they don’t have access to the same information that you have. They generally associate with other Asians, and therefore within their social circles, they strongly reinforce the fear and superstition among each other.
Some Asian cultures are also very adhering to govt authoritative mandates or even mere suggestions by the govt that they protect themselves. They do believe they need to do this. Also, you need to realize that these individuals do not have health insurance and cannot afford to be in the ICU, away from work for an extended period of time because they have to work to put a roof over their head. They simply cannot afford the crippling medical bills with no health insurance. They will go bankrupt. So they have to take extra precautions that are within their control to protect their own health.
I gently suggest you adapt and not be so rigid. Don’t let go of the restaurant. They are a very small business and probably work 20 hours a day (you have to prep the food in the early morning hours to have the food ready for lunch time). Asians do not take off time for vacation generally. They really work themselves to the bone and are exhausted when they go home.
Support them with your business. If their food has given you enjoyment in the past, keep enjoying it and please don’t be so offended about their behavior. Try to look at it from their cultural predisposition and their own attempts to protect their workers, customers and themselves as best as they know how. Not everyone has the same outlook or information on this virus as we have. I hope you will find some solace in this post to re-think your position and continue to patronize this restaurant notwithstanding the differences and hard-feelings that ensued which can be repaired.

I have seen something similar with mid-level managers and meetings. Seems that they don’t feel like they aren’t contributing if they aren’t running meetings 40 hrs a week. The lower level managers have to report on what they do, and it can’t be ‘attend meetings all day’. Also, they actually have to do work to support their employees. So, long hours are necessary.
And yes, emails make up a large portion of that ‘work’. Long chains of emails. All demanding urgent action. All expecting immediate answers at all hours of the day. This hellish world would periodically envelope me to get answers to technical issues. And then spit me back out so they could reframe the answers in ways that try to not make it look like past promises wouldn’t be kept.
Customer email chains are the worst. It is like a tool to modify contracts.

My grandmother taught me how to boogie woogie and swing dance when I was a little girl. I loved it so much I’ve been a lifelong fan of big band music and took swing dancing in college.
I love boogie woogie, and the blues! I have some friends that have been playing boogie woogie for over 40 years, in the beginning they would do a weekly gig, it was the highlight of our week. We were addicted to Monday nights. It was so much fun. Those were the days. They still play once or twice a year, especially a gig over New Year’s, but the Rona of course has gotten in the way. That is how I found Nils and Bianca, just miss the music and did a search. Nils is just the BEST!
The Shag dance competitions from Juniors to Adult are fantastic to watch!!
I saw an interview of these two, his English is excellent, hers is understandable, but anyway, his story is he really didn’t fit in w/sports and other school activities and he found dance as a kid as his sport and has been doing it ever since. He said a lot of their dances aren’t usually rehearsed, they do improv and just sorta do what comes up, they have been dancing together for so long they are in sync. It was nice to listen them talk about loving what they do.
Anyway, yeah I agree the Jr to Adult are fun, so nimble and agile. I miss those days! Nothing like shaking a leg to music you love to get the blood flowing.

It seems as though every week we read of a young athlete or other young person dying shortly after taking a Covid shot. It is usually reported as “Suddenly”, “Unexpected” or “Coincidently”. When does it change and becomes more accurately reported “Murdered”.
If you suggest the term “murdered” is more accurate, you are assuming voluntary intent as a motive.
To me that’s notably poor logic.
What if the young athlete or person CHOSE to get the shot (for whatever reason)? Under your rules, that means it isn’t either a mistake or a tragedy. They must be regarded as SELF-MURDERERS now, to be more accurate.
The reason we read about deaths and injury by every sort of statistically unlikely misadventure is right in the nature of how news stories are chosen. If it bleeds, it leads. Nobody clicks or buys to read about life in the Happy Valley where everything works out. There are no publication outlets dominated by “good news”. The journalism business model is based on engendering outrage and irritation over implied injustices and crimes committed by ambiguously identified “bad actors”. It couldn’t possibly be that we are all relatively blameless, and that diseases just exist in the world, a value-neutral problem to be worked at solving.

Senator Townsend, who introduced the bills, will not be at the rally and I must correct myself, only one Arizona state legislator will be there, and he is the candidate Trump is endorsing for Secretary of State there this year.

The flu shot has been encouraged for anyone over 65 for years. People who are most likely to die have always been elderly people. Elderly people have more things wrong with them.
It is also recommended people under 65 also get the flu shot if they have health issues.
The at-risk people with covid are no different than people at risk with the regular flu.

Not necessarily four, but deaths where COVID (or any respiratory viral pneumonia) was the line-one cause are extremely rare. Most of the time they’re just “opportunistic infectors.”
Deaths from the “jab” are thousands of times more common now: blood clots, pericarditis, strokes, and so on.
The “death counts” are purposely inflated for the very obvious reason that for-profit hospitals get more money that way. So, “the money’s good, but the data’s useless.”

Silly rabbit. You can’t claim “copyright” to the name of your product to prevent it from being mentioned in a story that you don’t like. The only thing that you can do is to register your trademark so that others cannot also use it as a trademark. It is not “defamation” to say that your product doesn’t work when there is scientific evidence that it doesn’t.
My guess is that the copyright claim is for the CNBC clip itself… which conveniently overlaps with Pfizer’s unfortunate public disclosure.
