There is a movie from 30 years ago about WW II veterans coming back to the (cliched) corrupt small Southern town.
It was originally called An American Story but later Hallmark changed the title to After the Glory.
The veterans decide to clean up the town’s politics and run for various offices. As they are about to win every office in town (people are tired of paying the mayor and sheriff bribes), the two corrupt officials arrive with a small army of henchmen to seize the ballots before the election is over!
The veterans break out their WW II weapons and go after them by laying siege to the town hall. A massive shoot-out takes place, complete with dynamite blowing up the entrance.
This is not a mystery movie, it is a Hallmark movie, so you know what happens! 😉
Of interest is the (apparently believable in 1992) plot line that you would not mess with WW II veterans by rigging an election!

He does need to force the courts and DoJ to rule over the fact this is a commission that has no legal authroity as the Senate voted against a joint committee. Also, this commissions work is not tied to legislation…so it even fails on that test.
There is no evidence to discover in this instance…this is strictly a constitutional rights and separation of powers case.
The dangerous part is if AG Garland admits he ceded Executive Branch authority to a single person in Congress.

Former White House advisor Steve Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday following his refusal to comply with a subpoena by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Bannon’s indictment, just days after the House Committee announced further subpoenas of Trump officials.
“Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law and pursues equal justice under the law,” Garland said in a statement obtained by Just the News. “Today’s charges reflect the department’s steadfast commitment to these principles.”
Bannon was charged by the federal grand jury with two counts of contempt of Congress.
If convicted of the charges, Bannon could face up to a year in prison, as well as a fine not to exceed $1,000.
It will be fun when Mr. Bannon’s attorneys point out how many others who have been designated as being contemptuous
of Congress and weren’t charged by the DOJ. And they should demand Mssr Garland charge them all or go pound sand.
Even a corrupt judge will have a hard time looking at this with a blind eye.
