I am still attempting to gird my loins and come up with a rebuttal to one of the most recent hit pieces on President Trump from so-called Republicans and conservatives, namely this:
What Is Trump To Us?
Donald Trump became the political vehicle for the American people’s resentment of an overweening, corrupt ruling class. Trump’s invaluable contribution to the Republic was to lead Americans publicly to disrespect that class.
Americans elected Trump to preserve freedoms and prosperity against the encroachments of that class. But instead, he became the catalyst by which that class cohered to transform the American Republic into an oligarchy.
During Trump’s presidency, more wealth passed from ordinary Americans to oligarchs, and more freedoms were lost than anyone imagined possible. As we consider how to remedy these losses, Trump’s fateful combination of things said and unsaid, of things done and not done, must be part of our search for the persons and policies most likely to lead republican Americans out of our quandary.

It would have been possible to do a detailed analysis of what went wrong during the Trump presidency; of where we are and how we got here. In fact it should be done.
But this one, as are a couple of others I’ve seen, is an attack on the man and his character.
Two things I will say right now- how is it these people can criticize what President Trump did or did not do, without mentioning what his own party did or didn’t do in support of his agenda?
This and other articles also make it seem as if he had exactly zero successes in the three years leading up to the disaster that was 2020.
The idea that the party can move on “post-Trump” and accomplish what they claim he failed to do, well if they wanted to accomplish these things, what exactly was stopping them prior to Trump’s election?
The pretense that they had a wonderful pro-America agenda and he messed it up for them is one big, fat lie.
As for the other stuff, the attempts to move on without him due to his messing up big with the COVID “response”-
I can’t help but notice that the serious people who were against Dr. Fauci, against lockdowns, against voodoo social distance and “restrictions” on human rights and freedoms, people who were not necessarily Trump supporters in the first place, these most ardent anti-scamdemic voices, while they do not hold President Trump blameless, do not attempt to dump all the blame on him.
Again, these are people many of whom do not like Trump and did not vote for him, but whose mission is getting at the truth, and they are not willing to put it all on him, as I see many so called Republicans, conservatives, and former Trump supporters trying to do.
Well I guess I have put my rebuttal down in writing, haven’t I?
Main points- no he was not sitting around allowing his presidency to wash over him, his appointments etc. required support from his party that wasn’t forthcoming (doesn’t anybody even remember a bunch of Republicanssuddenly deciding they just had to retire), and as for the COVID mess, the top people who have always worked against the scam do not lay all the blame for what transpired on him.
What went wrong is that these creeps betrayed us. Trump was transferring wealth and freedom to us, and they used covid and riots to take it all back and then some. And to steal the government from us. And to make sure we never get it back, they are blaming Trump.
Anybody who can make such a devious deceitful argument was in on it. And they want something like Trump, transfer of wealth to the people, and freedom for the people to never happen again.
Codevilla huh. Why is it that these writers first make great arguments than trash those same things? The rest of the article tries to push Trump’s agenda while blaming Trump for its failure.
If you can’t make honest assessments of who the enemy really is, what that enemy is willing to do, and how far they will go against you, you will never win. If he had written from that point of view, not blaming Trump, but accurately assessing the traps and difficulties Trump faced, I would take this as an attempt to move forward.
But blaming Trump for what the enemy did? Of course the victors are laughing at cheating Trump. This is a lame attempt to stop being laughed at for supporting Trump.
Giving your moral compass over to the jeers of the enemy? What an idiot.
Did he ever believe his writings? Or did he write just for flattery from others?
But those complaints give him credit for his earlier arguments. I stand by the assertion that such deviousness proves he was always malicious. Like most conservative pundits, it seems betrayal of conservatives is part of the job requirements.

Chris Buskirk seems to be well-intentioned and partially well-informed. The two books listed under his authorship seem to be on the right road, but the 2018 book, “Trump vs. the Leviathan” appears to frame part of the problem of the size of the Swamp, but it misses the treachery of the GOP against trump and how he would never be able to tame the beast by himself. The second book of which he is a c0-author, examines how the Establishment missed the 2016 election because they didn’t understand the mood and the values of the American electorate.
None of the other team members were listed as authoring any recent books. All appear to have Claremont Institute degrees and credentials. Several have worked with major organs of the MSM. So none of them appear to be red-blooded MAGA patriots.

I have been critical of the president when it comes to the COVID response. However, I will not stand by and allow those who had nothing much to say on these issues as they were happening, use something that didn’t bother them too much before, as an excuse to basically dump Trump.
As I’ve said, many of the most outspoken leaders of the anti-lockdown leaders give President Trump part of the blame, and mostly for failing to fire Fauci when he learned what he was. They believe he was scammed by bad advice.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recently approved a Capitol Police request for eight Persistent Surveillance Systems Ground – Medium (PSSG-M) units. The system provides high-definition surveillance video and is enabled with night vision. The system does not include facial recognition capabilities, the Pentagon said.
“This technology will be integrated with existing USCP camera infrastructure, providing greater high definition surveillance capacity to meet steady-state mission requirements and help identify emerging threats,” the Pentagon said.
The technology allowed U.S. troops fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to monitor large areas 24/7 through extremely high-resolution cameras.
Some privacy rights advocates have raised concern that Capitol Police are getting into the business of spying on Americans.
In a wartime application, the persistent surveillance units were mounted on tethered blimps. The data could be stored, combined with sensor data from other platforms, and later referenced or rewound to track individuals or groups.
The military could use the system to develop “pattern of life” analyses on suspected enemy combatants or intelligence targets in war zones. It could determine, for example, who was responsible for placing an improvised explosive device.
The Department of Homeland Security has leased the same or similar technology, described as Persistent Ground Surveillance System(s) (PGSS), through the Department of Defense, according to a 2016 Government Accountability Office report. It is not clear whether any other agency has fielded the exact technology domestically.

Senate Appropriations ranking member Richard C. Shelby, R-Ala., formally released his own $632.9 million, 11-page bill Monday just before Leahy took to the floor.
