I live in Fulton County and I never saw the Consent Decree. I heard an ‘agreement’ was made, of some sorts, but I never saw disclosure of any legal document.

Born in 1948, I grew up hearing stories about where friends’ fathers had fought in the War. Never knew anyone whose father landed on D-Day. One day I realized why. They didn’t survive to have children. They sacrificed their lives and their bloods as it says in the Bible. No descendants.

Thinking of my dad, who was working at the time for an electrical contractor for the Navy in San Francisco.
He had graduated from a public school in the Bronx with an electrical apprentice’s certificate, and after a few years, wanderlust led to different jobs up and down the East Coast. Against his Italian mama’s wishes, he headed for California, wound up in San Francisco.
Within a week of the bombing, he was at Pearl, re-wiring ships. He wouldn’t talk about it except with my aunt, his older sister who told me after he died that “he saw things that were unimaginable.
He had actually told her more than he had ever told my mother, whom he married two years after the war ended.
When I was still an adolescent, my mother answered when I asked what my dad did at Pearl, “He was sent there to ‘clean up’ the mess.” She had told me never to ask him questions so I didn’t.
It wasn’t until my mother died, four years after my father, and I was trying to sort all their papers into some kind of organized files, that I saw the official papers of my father’s departure from SF and his arrival in Hawaii. Up until then, I had no idea he had arrived so close to the actual attack date. In my young kid’s head, I never connected “clean up the mess” with how soon he got there.
He only told one story of his time there. I had already graduated from college by then. It popped out of him one day when a neighbor was visiting, and somehow the war came up. Our neighbor was an American of Portuguese descent. He told some story relating an unpleasant incident about ethnicity and a friend of his during the war.
My dad nodded. He was basically a taciturn, quiet man until he had “had it up to here” as he sometimes said.
Then, out it came. “One day I was told to go to the __X__”s office. (He gave the rank….I don’t recall what it was). I went. The bastard started asking me if I was loyal to the United States. Told me, ‘Well, you ARE Italian.’ I told him ‘I’m an American. If you don’t want me here or need me here, I can leave any damn time I want. I’m not in the Navy. So, which is it? ”
The officer dismissed him. He stayed in Hawaii a year.
Like most working class women of the era, my mother one day dreamed of going to “beautiful Hawaii” as a couple of her friends had. She always had told me, “Your dad says ‘you’ll have to go with someone other than me.'”

Well well look what we have here...

In his ruling, the judge also criticized the news media, writing, “One is to be forgiven if one is persuaded by news media and others that the nation is awash with murderous AR-15 assault rifles. The facts, however, do not support this hyperbole, and facts matter.”
Both statements are true.
The AR platform truly is a swiss army knife when it comes to firearms. You can fit it with multiple upper receivers that have different barrel types, profiles and configurations for different uses. A bull barrel (heavy and fairly expensive) for target shooting, a light “government profile” one for hunting varmints and other modest-sized game or home defense, several different caliber upper options for various other hunting and target shooting purposes and you can even buy a “pistol” configuration that is indeed designed to be fired with one hand, although frankly I think that’s sort of silly as the cartridge is not intended for this and as such they are extraordinarily loud and have a habit of spitting 1′ diameter fireballs out the front end along with the projectile.
The weapon can also use “iron” sights, a “reflex” sight that can be used with both eyes open (excellent for home defense) or, for those of us with aging eyes who wish to target shoot or use it for hunting purposes, a scope of your choice. Depending on the options you choose you can even have more than one set of sights available at a time; a battery-powered reflex sight and “backup” iron sights, for example, should the batteries go dead, or a “flip away” magnifier allowing a reflex sight to be a viable hunting weapon both in close and at longer ranges.
While it is certainly true that people have chose to use this type of firearm as a weapon in mass-shootings, the facts are that rifles of all sorts, including the AR-series rifles, kill fewer people than knives in an average year. It’s not close. Indeed you’re more likely to be punched or kicked to death than killed with a rifle of any sort, including an AR-15 — by roughly double or more depending on the year, and clubs (including I assume 5 irons), hammers and similar are about as likely to be the instrument of your demise. As the judge said: Facts matter. Nobody’s talking about registering or banning 5-irons — or fists.
This ruling will of course be appealed, but perhaps — just perhaps — some common sense is showing up.
The facts are that guns are used more-often, by quite a bit, in defense than for illegal, offensive purposes. Most of the time when a firearm is used for defense it doesn’t have to actually be fired; the mere presence is frequently enough for whoever was in the middle of doing something ugly and criminal to decide that their action is a bad idea and change their mind. Indeed Samuel Colt’s revolver was called the “Great Equalizer” and a firearm is; it renders a 5’1″ 100lb woman able to effectively stop a 250lb 6′ man from raping and/or killing her, a near impossibility otherwise.
Go figure — criminals don’t like the prospect of dying any more than anyone else does and since we refuse to keep criminals in prison, well, that makes the remaining choices rather stark, doesn’t it?

As you can imagine, the suggestions they give are real humdingers. For instance, they advise we read Dr. Ibrahim X Kendi. Kendi is a totalitarian utopist who is popular on the P.C. lecture circuit. He believes that capitalism is inherently racist and advocates for a Department of Anti-Racism.
What would the DOA do? you might ask
In his own words, they would “be responsible for preclearing all local, state and federal public policies to ensure they won’t yield racial inequity, monitor those policies, investigate private racist policies when racial inequity surfaces, and monitor public officials for expressions of racist ideas. The DOA would be empowered with disciplinary tools to wield over and against policymakers and public officials who do not voluntarily change their racist policy and ideas.” So much for the land of the free. The DOA would also be empowered to investigate private business and monitor speech. Best of all, DOA officials couldn’t be fired, not even by the president.
MLB’s recommendations go on and on and don’t get any better, including asking you to study the fraudulent and historically inaccurate 1619 Project. They also suggest you learn about the Southern Poverty Law Center. For those who aren’t aware, SPLC was a onetime respected civil rights group that of late has doled out millions in court settlements to people it has falsely labeled as extremists. I have a question about that – if President Trump is reinstated as Sidney Powell suggested as the appropriate legal solution, then what do “we” do about Pence? 10 pounds of white rice yields 200 servings. Every pound of legumes yields about 13 servings. Therefore, 10 pounds of rice and 5 pounds of legumes is approximately enough for one person for one month, who is consuming the two 1:3 ratio servings a day. Or, it is enough for two people for 15 days.
The 5-gallon pail should be lined with aluminum foil by placing two long sheets at right angles into the pail first. Add the food, fill any remaining space with other dehydrated or freeze dried food, spices, etc.
Finally, cram the foil in the top of the pail to eliminate air, and place the lid securely. Try to keep it from heat.
