Finnish Firm Gets U.S. Patent for Covid Drug Containing Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine
A coronavirus drug developed by Therapeutica Borealis, a pharmaceutical firm in Turku, has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The nasal spray contains hydroxychloroquine, among other ingredients.
Earlier in May, the company said it had received approval for a patent application, based on which it expected a final patent this month.

I have no problem with patents to protect intellectual property, my problem comes from what happens after the patent is received.
I don’t think this firm would do this, but what if they got the patent and then did nothing with it? Or worse, sold it to a larger pharmaceutical company who then shelved it to keep it out of the market.
Your patent should be provisional, until the product is in the market place, based on your follow through. If technology is holding you back, then your patent will be extended for an additional year and can be extended each year based on proof that technology is unavailable to implement your patent. If technology is available and you just don’t follow through or can’t get the idea to market, then it becomes public domain.
Additionally, if you sell your patent, then the buyer has 1 year to bring the product into the market or else it will become public domain. There is no extension. Don’t buy the idea if you can’t use it.
This will keep companies like Apple, Microsoft, GM, Ford, etc. from buying innovative ideas and shelving and keeping ideas out of the market. The idea of the patent is to protect your intellectual work and not allow large companies to keep the market from innovating because they can’t or don’t want too.

Call me a cynic but I think what you just outlined is EXACTLY what this company will do. Why would the United States, the country that has all but BANNED Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin from being prescribed for COVID, suddenly do a 180 degree turn and patent a nasal spray form of the drugs? Either that or they figured out how to make billions of dollars on what was very cheap products like HCQ and IVERMECTIN.

I say we embargo China in all respects, revoke their MFN status permanently and incinerate all US Treasury holdings both by their nation and every entity and person tied to it.
Don’t give me any of this bull**** about how we — we being people in our government including the CDC, NIH and others — didn’t know either. We did know. In late November and early December. There were reports of the lab being shut down and cell service interrupted along with deaths from atypical pneumonia. Our government knew. What’s to determine now is exactly who knew both inside and outside the US, when did they know and what did they intentionally block or divert attention from that can plausibly be tied to the deaths that occurred.
The relatives and loved ones of those who died as a result of this stupidity are likely to want blood and if they do they should get it. This is a mass-slaughter comparable in impact to a genocide and should be treated accordingly up and down the line.
You see, there is no monetary or imprisonment punishment that works here. These acts were prohibited, and the actors involved looked specifically for ways to get around the rules, they played fast and loose with the ban on this sort of activity and when it blew up in all of our faces and killed over three million people they hid their complicity at all levels. This must not happen again, and just as with a terrorist while you can never be sure someone won’t try it the best and indeed only deterrent is to bring every person involved to justice.
And by the way, it would probably be a good idea to ignore all the other crap these people have been and are putting in front of you when it comes to various public and personal health measures too until every one of the people responsible for this is out of their positions and has been held accountable.
They’ve already proved themselves to be liars who don’t care how many die, or even worse, are perfectly happy to see death so long as it serves a political or financial goal. If you have more than two working neurons to rub together it ought to be obvious that your “health” is the very last thing on their mind.
I’ll no more listen to any of these peoples’ BS about what I should do and what I should put in my body than I would have allowed Saddam or Bin Laden to lecture me on world peace.

Many industries were throttled, bludgeoned, beaten, and even destroyed during the lockdowns of 2020. It will be years before the damage is repaired, and some of it is irreparable.
One industry that did not suffer was that which was and is devoted to writing scientific papers on the Coronavirus. Talk about boom times! A report from October 2020 estimates that 87,000 studies have been written and published in some form on the topic. It’s surely more than 100,000 by now. These writers do not produce content out of the goodness of their hearts. It’s the old rule: subsidize something (thank you Bill Gates) and you get more of it.
So many people in this field have been so busy padding their resumes with these papers, it would not be surprising that standards might have slipped a bit. Published does not mean true, and quantity does not equal quality. Nor do the multiple billions pouring into departments of epidemiological research purchase balanced wisdom.
It’s obviously impossible to read 100,000 papers on the topic – many of them contradictory, obviously – so it is standard practice to cite whatever study seems to confirm one’s priors. There is not one way to “follow the science,” as we’ve learned from Dr. Fauci’s endless television appearances. He decides the message for the day and picks the “science” to back him up, while ignoring the rest.
This is why I’m just a bit worried about a shabby little paper that appeared in the once-prestigious British journal The Lancet. It popped up there a few weeks ago: “SARS-CoV-2 elimination, not mitigation, creates best outcomes for health, the economy, and civil liberties.” I hesitate even to discuss the paper for bringing more attention to it than it deserves. Even so, any paper with the veneer of science that directly targets human liberty deserves a solid debunking.
