Gospel
Jn 20:1-9
On the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter
and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them,
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb,
and we don’t know where they put him.”
So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter
and arrived at the tomb first;
he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him,
he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
and the cloth that had covered his head,
not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple also went in,
the one who had arrived at the tomb first,
and he saw and believed.
For they did not yet understand the Scripture
that he had to rise from the dead.

AMEN & Happy Easter Treepers.
He is risen indeed! A Happy and Blessed Easter to all.
I’m so thankful that the blood of Jesus covers all my ugly sins. Thank You Jesus.
HE IS RISEN.
5: And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not
ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6: He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Matthew 28:5–6
“fear not…”
the angel who speaks here is likely the same angel who spoke at the birth of Christ declaring the same at that earlier moment.
do NOT be afraid.
fear: imagined horror, perceived danger
in this context,
it’s important ALWAYS to understand the importance of this declaration.
These people are witness to a supernatural event. This is GOD presenting his power in the physical world!
The “natural” reaction is fear. One would be reduced to absolute terror realizing what is happening.
Have you ever been to a funeral and dead person comes back to life. No, me either! It would shake me to my very core. I would not know how to deal with it. I would be full of fear. I would “shake” with fear. And the Koine word used here is also one that is often used to describe that kind of fear that takes on a a physical form…the shaking of the body.
Paul (also known as Saul) immediately understands the pronouncement.
HE IS RISEN.
Paul is NOT AFRAID. Paul is not fearful because he understands fully the significance of the moment.
On this ἀνάστασις, εως, ἡ (celebration of anastasis), DO NOT BE AFRAID!
HE IS RISEN
that angel was likely gabriel…preceded by an earthquake…a massive stone placed before the cave tomb to prevent the “hoaxers” from stealing the body and pretending the body is resurrected (most people believed the entire thing one big hoax!), now laid asunder, with an angel, dressed as with SNOW, and illuminated as with LIGHTNING.
yes, I would be very afraid…shaking.
and the first thing that Gabriel declares?
FEAR NOT!
remember there a many people very fearful that THEY will be persecuted for aligning with “the hoax”. This angel is declaring to these women, do not be afraid to tell the good news. These women were sincere with their faith and were not afraid. The soldiers were insincere and thus could not resist and became like dead men, shaken violently with fear that they fell to the ground unable to move. Notice the difference!
The Birth and Resurrection of the Son of God is the most FIRST MOST important and momentous event.
On the final day, this same angel will come and make the other SECOND MOST important and momentous announcement.
LIVE YOUR LIFE KNOWING THESE TRUTHS. Realize the power of God in you. Be near to him.
DO NOT FEAR!
God Bless America
Thank you regitiger for your beautiful post.
Of all the Treepers with palindromic screen names, you are my favorite 🙂
Χριστὸς ἀνέστη!
Admin, my comment just means Christ is Risen in Greek, don’t know why it’s in waiting approval bin. Same for my reply to Donna, it means hHe is Risen indeed in a different language.
Christos Anesti!
Thank you for the verses in Greek and the explanation.
Fascinating. I love learning things like this.
A blessed Easter to you all
The most special of all special days, hallelujah, praise God.
Amen Amin Hristos Vaskrese!
Yes! He is Donna, peace ✌️
Donna, Воистина Воскресе!
Voistina Voskrese!
Donna, I tried my reply with the Cyrillic alphabet but for some reason it disappeared most likely ending in the round bin.
Christ has Risen. Indeed He has! Hristos Vaskrese, Vaistinu Vaskrese. A Blessed Resurretion to all.
He is risen indeed! Blessing and love to all in Christ!
Happy and holy Easter to Menagerie Sundance and all Faithful Treepers
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
Where every realm of nature mine
My gift was still be far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
Happy Easter to everyone here and to everyone in the world, believers and non believers! Jesus said to love your enemies too for not doing so is not forgiveness!
Let the Amen sound from His people again!
He, without sin or blemish, who willingly gave himself as ransom for me, for us, for all, is risen.
God be praised!
A blessed and happy Easter to all.
A blessed Easter to you all from your “lurking” Swiss friend who has been taking a break from politics and covid. We had lovely weather for Easter week, but today we have a north wind and next week it will be below freezing and . . . more snow! Argh!
So good to see you, ZurichMike!
A blessed Easter to you as well.
Thank you, sir. Happy Easter to you and yours, and I pray the wind shifts soon.
ZurichMike,
Happy Resurrection Day!
A blessed Easter to you and yours as well, ZM! We too have snow in the forecast for next week, and temps plunging to zero degrees F. Ugh. I’m so done with winter! Good to “see” you!
Blessed Easter to you, Mike. It’s so good to see you.
Good to see you ZurichMike
Happy Easter !
Good yo see you here!!
Jesus died so that we may live. Amen. All glory and praise to God.
A Blessed Easter to all who tread here.
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! Our salvation holy day, Alleluia! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia. Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!
Beautiful song, beautiful day. May His blessings be upon you all!
I love that song! On Easter morning as the sun rises all around the globe…in every nation, in every town, in every language, that Alleluia is raised.
What a beautiful sound!!
He is risen indeed! Easter morning would bring the sound of the church bells ringing at 5:00 a.m. for the Resurrection Mass. They seemed to ring forever, while parishioners gathered in the dark and walked the streets around the church symbolizing the followers of Christ searching for Him. A Polish parish that still holds some of the Eastern European traditions in a very different time and demographic.
May we all seek HIM.
God’s love, peace and grace to all who gather here. Much gratitude to you all, especially Sundance for opening his door, Menageri who feeds our spirit and all the others who tend to our needs.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter Treepers. You are in my prayers.
What Christ has given us is not ours to keep. Its value is in the giving away, by our actions, as well as our word. We who call ourselves Christians are watched closely. It could be that someone who is considering salvation is at least partially basing their thoughts and decisions on what you say and do.
This reminds me of one of the Spiritual Works of Mercy, bearing wrongs patiently. This is one I so often fail at. Okay, I can’t remember ever being good at it. And perhaps the impression I leave people in need come from these moments, not when I am at my best.
We Christians, when we think of sharing our faith, we think of quiet conversations, helping a friend, doing food deeds for the needy, of the many opportunities we come across to do good. But fate might choose those moments when things are not good.
Please Lord, help me to not fail you in my trials and troubles and small frustrations.
Thank you Menagerie, you SD and the Tree Admins are always in mine. Happy Easter to you, your family and all Treepers near and far.
“Bearing wrongs patiently…”. …not striking out in anger…
Thank you Menagerie

Charlie Daniels “Joy In The Morning”
If you missed the first coming of the precious Son of man
Stick around now brother, he’s coming back again
And there’ll be joy in the morning
Praise His name, praise His name
Hallelujah!
What a Savior!!!
Jesus is risen and Satan is pissed.
Beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. What joy! And she signs while she sings so my daughter could “hear”.
Wonderful, wonderful!! What a blessing for you and especially your daughter. May the risen Savior continue to hold the two of you close.
I, too, tear up when Sandi sings I feel she has an anointing.
Blessings to you both.
Happy, Joyful Easter!!
Alleluia , alleluia, let the holy anthem rise……He Is Risen
’tis The Resurrection. Je vous remercie. Hallelujah!
“He saw and believed.” That puts the faith of the dying thief in perspective. He may have been the only one who believed while seeing Jesus die. Faith is the gracious gift of God who strengthens us according to our need as we take up our crosses and follow him. For most of us, not a literally as that man.
Yes indeed! Just as He said He would.
HE IS RISEN!
Happy Easter! What a beautiful sunrise in northeast Ohio!
Home after attending a wonderful sunrise mass! I am most thankful for being able to attend this special mass in person, last year was so different!
Jesus Christ has risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Wishing all a blessed Easter! Have a great day!!
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit”. *1 Peter 3:18*
He did not die for his sins – for He had none. He died for our sins, in our place as our substitute sacrifice.
He did this so He might bring us to God. We can’t make it on our own. Jesus is the only door to salvation from our sins and entrance to God and heaven.
He was quickened by the Holy Spirit of God and He is alive forevermore having risen from the dead.
He is our living Savior.
Thank you Jesus, from a poor sinner.
Happy Resurrection Day everyone. “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14)
Thank you, dear Jesus!
Thank you Lord for your sacrifice so that we all may have everlasting life!
AMEN
Jesus Christ is Risen Today, Alleluia! Let us bend our knee in Thanksgiving and prayer!
