I got into it with some spoiled little professional victim on YouTube yesterday about the men/women thing. She was claiming that being raped when she was younger justified her “hatred of men.” I took the position that it most certainly did not. She had the utter gall to say that everyone had been nice to me my whole life (not exactly) and that’s why I didn’t hate men. Then she went off on the whole “white male privilege” lunacy.
And here I am, mom of boys, wife of a white man, and I see zero white male privilege. My children will grow up in a world that hates them for the color of their skin and their chromosomes. My husband gets shafted for jobs and promotions repeatedly because of diversity quotas (although hopefully that’s all at an end now.)

What we want to do is to be educated about what is happening, keep ourselves informed with careful research, but not to allow ourselves to get into a negative emotional state by what we see. The thing that allows us to do this sort of “detached” observation is forgiveness. Forgiveness is not about letting the offending party off the hook, free from justice, no. Forgiveness is about letting go, on an emotional level, the negative energy of the actions and evil intent of another (or even ourselves, but that’s another discussion)
By letting go, we allow ourselves to be centered on God’s love, God’s word, and centered on doing right-action. With a heart filled with joy, untainted by the negative emotional energy of those who have evil intent, we are able to apply ourselves more fully, and be as pure in our heart as can be.
If we free ourselves from their negative actions, we then interact within our world, with our families, with our associations with the best within us.
Does this make sense? We SEE what the evil is, but we act out of love. For love vanquishes evil.

I see no problem, nor conflict of ‘thought’ interest, in fighting evil. The difficulty I see here is when we allow hatred to replace love in our hearts. We can fight for love of humanity, we can conduct combat for the love of the children. If we hate the enemy, then we have adopted their negative emotion within. As within, so without. With the love of God, we may commence battle in His name, against the enemies of love.
Just remember, that Christ commanded us to love our enemies as we do ourselves. Pray for them, pray for their soul, but if need be, slay them to protect the innocent.

I have a son who was a terrible addict for several years. We didn’t know where the
money came from to buy the drugs and were terrified we would find him dead in his bed
one morning. His father spent a lot of money on treatment facilities, which might
help for a while, but eventually he was back on the stuff.
Even the addicts in my family are for the most part conservative. When our addict started
having to answer sarcastic questions about had his cartel thank him today, or did the
cartels know where we lived, and how many brothers and sisters he had, did he eventually
quit the drugs and go back to his first love, alcohol. Now he is only dealing with that addiction
and living in a treatment facility. He seems to be okay as long as he stays there.
I guess there is hope of one kind or another. The point is, there is a buyers market
here for drugs. As long as it exists, there will be customers. It’s a very old problem I know.
Many people have dealt with it, my kids have lost friends to drugs, what a waste.
Lynn- as a recovering alcoholic/addict who has been sober for many moons, my heart goes out to you. The Scamdemic/ Lockdowns have been extremely hard on the sick and suffering addicts of any substance. Liquor stores and pot dispensaries are open, churches and AA meetings are closed. As you say, there is never a shortage of drugs, ever. I lost my wonderful young nephew to an overdose a few years ago. Horrible story.
AA saved my life when I was at the very bottom of my alcoholism and given a few months to live. It is an absolute miracle that because of God’s grace and the fellowship of AA that I am alive today and have grandchildren who have never seen me drunk or even take a drink. I hope that your addict/alcoholic can connect with an AA or NA group as they really work. We will pray for him, as we do for all the sick and suffering, at our meetings.

We here lost a family member to a fentanyl laced OD. Each OD was worse than the one before until the final one. Medical withdrawal did not work. Methadone, nope. Drug Rehab, nope. Narcotics Anonymous, nope. In the people’s republic of IL, unless you have big bucks, really big bucks that are twice as green, rehab is a joke, from what I saw. He left behind a wife and 5 year old.
I know of many who needed that fellowship of AA and NA and could not get it, reverted to their habit and ended up in my ICU.

I only stay on this because this is a volley in the culture war. Oprah needs to be called out for what she’s trying to do, stir up racial resentment and animosity where there wasn’t any.
I did not watch the interview, but I did see one snippet where Meghan was claiming she did not know what she was getting into before her wediing, because she never googled Harry.
I never googled Harry but I was certainly aware of many many things about him, because back when I used to watch television, read mainstream newspaper and magazines, etc, you couldn’t avoid stories about Harry.
I used to watch and read some of that. The young boys of Diana’s were a rather charming diversion from some of the heavier news.
The entertainment media was full of those stories, and as an actress, and being from LA, Meghan definitely was exposed to all that.
Then there’s the fact that it was Oprah conducting the interview, and Oprah already admitted to having talked to Meghan and Harry before the wedding, as did Barack Obama.
How was it, not knowing a thing about the royal family’s “racism” as Meghan claims, she had that Social Justice wedding ceremony all ready to go?

I recall that during my ’80-84 tenure at the big state university, quarterly tuition started out at around $650, but by the end ballooned to $1800.
Earned my BA in 2015.
I earned scholarships and used Pell Grants.
Didnt cost me a dime.

It comes down to 1 factor — federal government backed education loans have no risk. When you have no risk, a college is incentivized to charge a higher rate, and a bank is willing to make the loan, because there is no nonpayment. A private loan may default, but a federal loan will be paid by the treasury from taxes.

It seems Roberts lost 8-1 a few days ago on a 1st Amendment piece. It was a true African American at a college in GA. Not a student now, but when a student, he had handed out religious information in a college designated “free speech area” on campus. College shut him down and he went thru the steps to SCOTUS. Roberts lost 8-1 (the others stood up for 1st amendment). Roberts dissented say the case was “moot” since the guy wasn’t a student there anymore. I guess Roberts has learned a new word “moot” a few months ago and he just wants to find places to use the new word he learned.

I’ve seen this tactic before. He used the moot case argument incorrectly on the voting fraud cases, so now he is attempting to normalize the word by using it in publicized cases to show that it wasn’t about the vote fraud, but an argument he uses commonly.
