Happened to be in the car with the radio on, and the “top of the hour” news from ABC reported that the National Guard personnel protecting D.C. from American Citizens is now undergoing an “exhaustive” verification of their backgrounds.

We had an election that was so legitimate that 25,000 troops are needed to guard Washington D.C., that only those troops loyal to Joe Biden may be permitted to do their duty, that over 75% of Republicans and 40% of the country overall thinks Joe Biden did not legally win the election, and anybody who suggests otherwise gets carpet bombed by private corporations who donated overwhelmingly to Biden and the Democrat Party.
The Dems are worried about “some” of the military because they have their turncoats who were used against Trump (think Vindman). Remember, what they accuse you of they are doing.
The military typically votes Republican about 60-40. One of the biggest problems the Government Party has is if there really were some sort of insurrection, the Government Party would not be able to count on about half the US military siding with them. I expect a pretty big purge once Biden is installed.

Just heard on the radio that some of the 3 %ers and Oathkeepers have been arrested who were involved in the “assault on the capitol.” Due to the left’s bastardization of the language (i.e., “illegal aliens” = “immigrants”) I have no idea if these were people who were peacefully attending a protest of the theft of our national elections, or if they actually entered the capitol building, and if so, under what circumstances (did a policeman open the door for them? They did for some.)
Either way, it is clear that this totalitarian bent, first focusing on ability to speak anything other than the State narrative, and now, cutting off militia members from being able to respond in any meaningful way, is getting off to a furious and fast start.
I’d imagine, having been arrested, these people will lose their First Amendment rights under the type of government which considers one guilty until proven innocent.

I do my best to provide my son the type of experiences I had when I was a kid. Catholics and many other denominations are big on refugee resettlement. (Possibly for government money? Just speculating here). So the Mormons are no better or worse. In fact, I know many that grumbled at the idea, even as they shared from their own pockets.
As to Mormons being socialist, oh please. A big chunk of the country is wannabe socialist—at least they until they learn the hard way and find out the real truth of living under socialism. Mormons are certainly no worse than the general public there, and likely a great deal better.
Mormons are nothing if not patriotic and self reliant. They are encouraged to eliminate debt, practice food storage, are family focused, and generally rely on themselves. They were preppers before it was even a thing.
Does anyone here know any? Mormons are not some kind of special population, fifth column, or subversive element. They are good, normal, loving people. They are solid Americans, hard workers, and will do anything to help others. We should all be so lucky.

Other than 2017, the only other inauguration I remember watching was 1961. A TV was wheeled into our classroom and can picture where I sat in 8th grade English class. The election in my small spot of Western PA had been intense with anti-Catholicism the main problem. It was a tough call for the FDR democrats, most were Presbyterians and farmers, but voting for a Republican was just too much for the men in the mines and steel mills. Looking back, I remember voting for Nixon in our mock election but watching Kennedy I had hopes for a better America and his closing Ask Not was inspirational. I won’t be watching this innauguration either, but will stop by here to read your comments. I’m glad I’m old and will not have to watch our country dissolve into the country Barack Obama wants.

It’s Unconstitutional to hold a Senate Trial after he leaves office.
No it isn’t. The charges have to be filed while still in office, but the trial can take place after. It’s been done in at least three previous cases of federal offices requiring impeachment that I can cite.
Senator William Blount was expelled by 2/3rds of the Senate on July 8, 1797, but the House had impeached him the previous day, obligating the Senate to hold a trial. In that proceeding, held 18 MONTHS LATER, the Senate voted that the expulsion fulfilled the penalty of removal, so the trial need not continue.
In 1862 federal judge West Hughes Humphries left his bench in Tennessee and joined the Confederacy without resigning. The Senate held trial six months later, convicted the judge and in a separate vote barred him from holding future federal office.
In 1876, William Belknap, President Grant’s Secretary of War, was accused of taking kickbacks. Belknap resigned immediately before the House passed articles of impeachment, but the Senate still held a trial. Without 2/3rds voting to convict, Belknap was acquitted.

While reading the news this morning I saw a link to an article in The Nation (a Leftist rag if there ever was one, but it can be useful to know what the other side is up to) that is titled, “A $2,000 Check Is a Good Start, but Struggling Americans Need $2,000 Every Month“. The author says Dem Reps Ro Khanna of California and Tim Ryan of Ohio are pushing for Biden to support this nutcase idea.
Under this proposal, all “qualifying” Americans over the age of 16 would be eligible for these monthly payments for one year. Even if they exclude illegals and other non-citizens, which they probably do mean to include, it would cover as much as 78% of the U.S. population and come with a price tag of well over $6 trillion dollars. This is just absolutely insane. They think that due to the pandemic, high unemployment, people losing their homes, etc., that people need and deserve this huge outlay. How about just protect the most vulnerable from Covid and completely open up the economy again for everyone else? That would do far more to help people than throwing money around like this. It is insanity.
