If the FBI/DOJ/CIA are now going to target Trump Supporters , wouldn’t it be wise to not give our name, email address, and no logs of our IP address. Some of the new sites, seem to ask for our telephone number to verify us, or email account, and other forms of identifying us. We are considered Domestic Terrorists by China-Biden, so it would make a very easy way to target us using that info.
Make up your own mind what you are going to do. Groupthink is not the way to make these kinds of decisions, because the group won’t be able to help you when the consequences of your decisions manifest.
In so many of these things, there is no “right” vs. “wrong” decision. Live your life. Take responsibility for your own decisions.
Groupthink and speculation are pretty much useless in real life but, unfortunately, tend to be the go-to habits for those who would rather not deal with the reality of the knowns and the unknowns of life.

They supposedly took 14 maybe 15 laptops.

ACTUALLY…there was never meant to be a “United States.” The Constitution was ratified under the conditions of a confederation of States. That being (at the time) 13 Sovereign States with in which a tiny central government with enumerated and limited powers would serve. In fact, 3 of the ratifying States (VA being the most notable) ratified CONDITIONALLY that they could leave the union IF their sovereignty was threatened in the least…of course we all know what happened when VA requested secession 70 years later.

So here’s what keeps going round in my brain… There were reports on Wednesday of why protesters ‘stormed’ the Capitol was because they heard Pence had folded and it made them angry. If there was no cell service, how did people even know that he had folded? How did they know anything except what they could see and hear in their immediate vicinity. Did somebody announce it?

Yes, if people actually listened/read what he was saying in the days previous, he made it clear that he wasn’t going further than to let people in congress speak about the election problems. And even without that, his political career to date showed he would never stick his neck out on any topic, let alone this.
I heard it was submitted at 1200 noon and Trump knew at 1:12. There was speculation that this is why Trump was stalling on his rally and not really on script….
He did seem to be stretching his speech out.
I remember being anxious to switch to the session.
My cell worked fine the whole time for phone and text. Didn’t work for internet. Wife back home was keeping me abreast of what was going on with the Pence announcement, the voting and then the stopping of the vote, through calls and texts. Heard from her that there had been a shooting inside. Standing outside at the base of the capitol you had no idea.
Initially there were some small, individual scuffles with police (west side courtyard where the temporary bleachers for the inauguration were set up), but eventually the police established their line and the crowd respected it. I didn’t see any attempt by the front line of the crowd to try and push forward for the rest of the time that I was there. They just filled in the temporary bleachers and basically hung out for a couple of hours.
One guy in the crowd got loose above the police at one point, and sprayed something down on them. The crowd immediately started yelling to get him and remove him, about the most anger I heard expressed all day. Very pro-police, pro-peaceful protest.
While there was plenty of disappointment and some anger specifically with the Pence announcement, the overall vibe for the vast majority of the crowd was still relatively calm, peaceful protesting. There was no mass-reaction to the Pence announcement as it spread through the crowd.
People were milling about much more than they were actively or aggressively trying to reach the capitol. That said, I did watch a group of about 20-25 young guys go marching through the crowd with a distinct purpose when I first got to the capitol. They were not dressed in any noticeable “Trump” gear or red/white/blue gear. A lot of Carhart jackets and pants and one guy wearing a kilt (?). They knifed through the crowd without saying a word, went up and over the first wall of the capitol courtyard on the west side and disappeared.
I didn’t see groups of guys like that at anytime throughout the day, including during the President’s speech where I wandered around the entire area between the ellipse and the Washington Monument. I likened the crowd to being similar to any Fourth of July fair/celebration in terms of the demographics of the crowd and the overall vibe.
I was just beyond the zone of action most of the time right at the base of the capitol and I can tell you that there was no impetus on the part of the crowd to storm the building. There was a guy up in the temporary camera tower who spent the entire two hours that I was there imploring people to move forward…because the crowd was generally content to hang out around the pond and on the lawn below. That guy and a few others seemed totally disconnected with the general attitude of the crowd, which was pretty laid back. After listening to him for an hour or so I joked with someone next to me that he was acting as if we were his “troops”. Overall, it felt more like a rally than a protest.
When I got back to my hotel room and turned on the news I saw the “breach” and interaction with police at the doors to the building. I’ll say that the vast majority of those on film looked distinctly younger and different than the overall look of the crowd throughout the day as I wandered around and moved between the speech and the capitol. Just my observation/perception, can’t declare that I know anything else about who is who or who is associated with who. There is just a real disconnect between what I experienced and who I interacted with all day and what I saw on the news afterwards.

During the Presidents speech they had one group (wearing Trump hats and scarfs-some had Trump flags and “don’t Tread on Me yellow flags)that I mistakenly sat in along the Washington Monument wall (NW) side. The others arrived from 10 AM thru 11:30 AM and walked along the Monument path from the south to north side and on to the Mall to the capitol. No cell service or police any time in the area. Unfortunately I would not recognize Antifa. I thought the Coon Hat shirtless guy was just a crazy kid.

We were on the backside of the Capitol (side closest to the direction that we marched from). By the time we got there, the temporary rear fences had been pushed down and thousands were streaming into the “do not enter” portion of the grounds. Young men (as with most Trump crowds, there were a lot of young people) were climbing the back wall (a bit dangerous) and scaling the scaffolding (also a bit dangerous). More and more people kept going up… they weren’t destroying anything when they got up there, just waving to the crowd that was also cheering back at them. (It must have been a rush for these youngsters to have thousands cheering for them). Every now and then we heard a loud bang (like flash bangs) and we saw some smoke. We heard rumors of tear gas but didn’t experience it. The bulk of the crowd just hung out and chatted. Some sang. Some chanted. We had no idea that there was an actual entry into the Capitol building. We had no idea there was violence. There certainly was not a big police presence. I even remarked at the time, “I can’t believe they are letting us this close to the building.”
It wasn’t until we got back to the bus that we heard from others about the violence. People on our bus actually got tear gassed (one woman was gassed as she was praying on the Capitol steps). Another on the bus said he was part of a group that was trying to bull rush pasi the cops into the building. He got gassed too. (An older guy…probably about 55-60 years old).
The weirdest/scariest thing we actually saw was someone shooting a flare into the air.

Yeah, I saw that. Later, about 3:30-4 pm there was a small drone on the West side of the Capital courtyard hovering around the treeline about 50 feet up. It did not venture out into the open area that was filled with people. It was there for about 2 minutes or so.
Right when I thought about getting a picture or video of it, all of a sudden it bolted off like a UFO. I looked away for a second and it was gone, I do not know what direction
And if you were looking at the center set of steps on the side of the Capitol that faces the Supreme Court, to the right of those steps there are I think three levels of windows. The far right window on the top level the curtain kept going back and forth so I was staring up at it, trying to determine what was going on up there. It looked like someone with a telephoto lens, taking pictures of the crowd. Trying to ID people for later?
Yep, agree with and saw all that you outlined in your first paragraph. We were in the same area. I got there as the flash bangs were still going off periodically, but that ended when the police established their line on the upper stairs of the capitol. The front line of the crowd up there seemed to be pretty passive and willing to abide by the police line once it was firmly established.
I did see the police fire one tear gas canister deep into the crowd. Landed about 30′ in front of me and on the lawn, well beyond the front line of protesters. A few minutes later people were streaming past me with red faces and eyes, almost all older folks, definitely not agitators. It landed in a relatively passive part of the crowd. Hard to feel sorry for the guy on your bus that got gassed trying to bull rush the police…he’s old enough and should’ve been smart enough to not get caught up in the emotion if he was around the agitators up front.
I also met three younger guys who had originally made it up onto the upper steps of the building past the temporary bleachers. They stopped as they came back down to my area. They said it was getting too violent up there with a few guys who were engaging with the police and they didn’t want to get caught up in the middle. They were all younger guys who you would think might get caught up in the adrenaline and emotion, but they knew what they were there for and it wasn’t that. I thought kudos to them. Nice guys, we had a fun chat comparing the different regions of the country that we had come from.
I wasn’t sure why I felt compelled to go to DC other than support for the President, but now I know why. I just knew in my gut that I had to see for myself what was going to happen, thinking more about the vote itself. If I hadn’t experienced the day for myself and I was listening to the narrative that is being spun I’d be going crazy knowing that it didn’t sound right, but not being able to prove it. I have piece of mind knowing what happened first hand and can now spread the truth of what the day was like for 99% of the people attending the rally in DC.
Howard you seem to be taking the happenings better than I have been doing. After I realized that I was sitting in what I thought were Trump supporters only to realize later that it was an organizing group of Antifa. I felt guilty that at the time I did not realize that these were the Bad guys. It I had realized I would have made every possible effort to notify Police even though I would have had to search for them. Posts like yours are helping people like me to adjust. Thank You.
Thanks OM. I can relate to what you are feeling. It wasn’t until I was walking back to my hotel room and seeing text messages and missed calls from family that I realized what they were seeing on TV. You and I were on the ground and seeing a big peaceful, friendly rally. I was mildly worried about Antifa before I got there, my wife was seriously worried about them when I left the house. Once on the mall, seeing the crowd and listening to the speeches, I stopped worrying about them and wasn’t really looking for them anymore.
Even when I saw the guys marching up to the Capitol, I was mildly concerned in the moment, but after the fact, after getting more context for what was going on out of sight in the Capitol, I am wishing I had done more. Gotten their pictures, followed them to see what they were up to, something.
It just speaks to the fact that on the ground at the time, the vibe we were experiencing was much more “rally” than “protest” and no where near “riot”. Exactly why we needed to be there. To know the truth and to be able to confidently state it to others who couldn’t make it. To combat the spin and the lying narrative being put out there.

Too bad you did not get a voice recording of them. In that type of situation it is very unnerving to the point of wondering about your own safety. I did not even think of getting some pictures or video of that little drone I saw.
My phone needs a new battery, so I was mostly using one of my two tablets.It was getting later and we were getting ready to make the trek back to meet the buses. I would have replaced the battery, but I did not think I was going to be going to DC this January.

I concur with everything you wrote about the crowd. I did not see the Carhart jacket crew and my Verizon text message service was VERY spotty, taking minutes to download a text. I did not try making a voice call, though.

Howard, what time was that? We did not head to the Capital until after the President’s speech and we were just outside the fence of the Ellipse and we headed down Constitution Avenue, so we came in on the opposite side. I don’t think we arrived there until close to 1:30. The first text I sent after we got back to our bus was just after 3:00. I’ve been trying to piece together our timeline.
Were you there when a guy had a heart attack on the steps? I lead a bus group from NC and one of them was a fireman. He and the group he was with had gone over the Capital much earlier than we did and was on the front steps. He was right there and was the one who rendered CPR to the guy who had the heart attack. He told us he saw that group of people you mentioned and knew something was up. He also reported that the behavior of the police officers was strange (remember, this was way before we got any news).
As my smaller group approached the back side of the Capitol that’s when we heard all the flash bangs. Best I could tell it lasted about 20 minutes. There was no attempt by authorities on the back side to stop us from continuing to approach. It was all very odd because there was no other indication on the side we were on that anything was amiss — other than the sound of the flash bangs (of teargas I presume).
Because most of us needed a potty break, we decided to go on back to Union Station.
I’d presume that 99% of the people there had a fabulous, exhilarating day and had no idea what had occurred until back at buses or hotels headed home.
Despite the personal repercussions that are coming and are still to come, I’m proud to be part of history, which is why I went. My President asked me to come and so I did.
I watched the speech from near the Washington Monument on the north side obviously. I stayed to the end and then walked to the Capitol down the middle of the National Mall. I got to the Capitol Reflecting Pool around 12:30. I was up near the Capitol, west side around 1 pm and stayed until 3 pm or so. Sounds like we were there at the same time just on different sides of the building if you stayed on Constitution Avenue, which is the north side.
I did see a lot of ambulance activity and heard sirens periodically. I had assumed they were responses to possible medical issues as opposed to violence or gunshots, but I didn’t know specifically what they were.
I agree that the police behavior seemed a bit odd. They were present and had a line established when I got there, which is when they were shooting the flash bang grenades or whatever they were. Then they disappeared for a while and the crowd started to occupy the steps and the temporary stands. Then they came back out and re-established their perimeter further up on the Capitol steps which everyone seemed to respect as I watched for another hour or so. There didn’t seem to be that many officers either relative to the size of the crowd.

I feel like at this point, having an Open political thread is not enough. With 2,000+ comments by the evening there’s just no way to see them all – and once you reach the bottom of a page after reading it, you’ve gotta refresh to see all the replies… which may also change the page.

I certainly support and try to follow the guidelines. BUT right now there are over 2700 comments. Do you think it is reasonable to expect people to read them all before posting? When there are this many I read the most current 3 pages. What would help more is if people would stop posting rumors with the comment “I don’t know if this is true but”. This is followed by 50 replies. I have been finding the comments less valuable recently than before the election. Still I am thankful to Sundance and those who keep me informed.

Android/Google is not the best alternative, but the one nice thing about the ‘droids is that you have the option to “side-load” apps…so even if it’s taken out of the Google Play store (their equivalent to the iStore), you can download the installer directly from the website. There are lots of guides for how to do it online and once you get the hang if it, it’s fairly uncomplicated.
There’s a few Euro models that run on different operating systems, but I haven’t found much in the US that’s compatible with the networks and within a decent price range.

GAB is very busy with all the people from Parler setting up accounts. I have gotten through but they are just swamped.
This deal with Parler is why we all need more than one outlet for communication.
The mistake Parler made was using Amazon cloud servers, as opposed to gab who uses it’s own servers and is installing new servers as fast as possible.
Gab went through the same thing a couple years ago. They got booted from their host.

In red, suburban and rural counties they have just stopped sending people to jail when they are illegal, no driver’s license and no insurance because the jails are too full (no, not the COVID scam, a full on explosion of illegals).
I’ve now heard from several cases that all they can do is wait until the same car has had multiple crashes to then revoke the license plate, which is when they just get another.

In NY, a no-fault auto insurance state, uninsured motorist protection is separate from comprehensive coverage, which is for your vehicle.

No, there were 2 that died. We still don’t know for sure if the 1st was injury related or not and the 2nd committed suicide. There is video of an officer being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher and the media decided that was the cause of death of the 1st officer. Some recent reports suggest the officer who died was not the one hit with the extinguisher. They know, just won’t release the information for some reason.

Trump said he received 74 million plus votes, the most of any presidential candidate in American history, he won in a landslide, and that he will not concede. That was before the staged mess at the Capitol and before many republican’s turned their backs on him. The media is doing everything possible to demonize him and influence the country and the world he’s guilty of leading an assault and killing five people. What is his next move? Does he quietly leave and try to form a new party? Or a new social media platform? Or back to Florida and retirement? To me, here is what is weird:
President Trump asked us to come to DC for a reason. At the time, he either (1) knew Pence/Congress were going to screw him, or (2) wasn’t completely sure.
But in Georgia on January 5th and during the speech on January 6th, he was basically telling us Pence was going to screw us (“I hope Pence does the right thing”). At the very least, he knew Pence was in on it by the 5th.
But did Trump know about Pence before he invited us to DC? Possibly, and even likely.
If so, why did he invite us to DC? Why did he say we should march on the Capitol and that he would be going down there with us? “I will walk with you down there,” he said.
This is what I can’t figure out. He wouldn’t have done so without a reason. Was it just to put the fear of God into Congress and the corrupt institutions?
Also, one other odd thing my wife reminded me of: during the December Trump March in DC, Katrina Pierson told the crowd (I’m paraphrasing) to “find other Trump supporters and connect with them… know who your friends are…. stick together.”

Could be that his first Twitter invitation would organize and increase the size of the crowd to let the corrupt GOP and Mike Pence know we would be there to witness their betrayal and treason.
Once he learned of the violence planned to the staged events, he moved it to the Ellipse and kept us there until the staged events at the Capitol were over. I believe he saved many lives and let the black hat and white hat operations conclude.

Hubby and I looked for people to join us on our trip to D.C. and ended up having three additional passengers on the journey.
Hubby and I are in our mid-60s. One 40 something home-schooling mom joined us (her hubby knew she needed to go), one 73 year old widow joined us and one 75 year old widower joined us. Other than hubby and I being related, we did not know the other three, and none of them knew one another. We were all great friends after our day at the rally.
Just wanted to mention that the 75 year old widower got to the top level on the back side of the capital — further than anyone else in our group — and had his photo taken there. It was an historical achievement for him, and we told him he was our hero (without having to break or destroy anything like blm & antifa).
